We stayed in Rome for about 5 days. Consul was our first hotel there and we stayed only one night. We reserved it last minute because there were booking issues with the first hotel we booked. The pictures of the hotel looked nice and the website said it was a 3 star hotel. When we arrived, the outside of the hotel looked really old and cheap but the lobby inside was pretty nice. It was really far from the metro and the bus lines were unreliable. Their breakfast is on a first come first serve basis and if you don't get there early enough, you don't get breakfast (only crackers and cheese) even though the breakfast time isn't up; but if you do get the breakfast, it's pretty good. The rooms aren't anything special; just walls and beds. The shower was super small with only a curtain seperating you from the rest of the bathroom. We paid about 165 Euros for the night for 4 beds. I think the price was fair for what we got compared to other places we stayed at. There were no bugs or anything like that and, although it wasn't that pretty, it was clean. The staff was very nice. I would only recommend this hotel to groups on a budget when looking for a last minute hotel for 1 night; know that it's pretty far from all the sites and only close to a bus line that can take you to the metro (we took a taxi when we left).

Employees were very kind, rooms are clean. It is not a luxury hotel but the short stay was good. Free parking outside of the hotel is a great advantage in Rome.

The standard of hotel and accommodation were exactly what I had expected for the price. Getting to and from the hotel by public transport was an interesting experience ....they do things weird in Italy....but were exactly as explained in letter from Consul Hotel. Overall I would do it again the same way.

The hotel is in a quiet and nice green place, but it's not easy going to center of Rome (transportation is not good).

We got flood -water in the room from bathroom because the outlet in the shower room was stopped. Our things were wet, some of them even destroyed, but we did not get any excuse of the employees.

No complaints about the room but very difficult to get information from the staff about possibilities to go by bus or train to the airport and to Civita Vecchia.

This hotel has not the quality for a three stars hotel.Breakfast is bad.The shower in the bathroom was not clean. The hotel is to far away from the center of Rome and to close to a very busy street.( lot of trafic )We did have a room on the side of this street and couldn'd sleep.
