A good choice if your intent is sightseeing in Rome and you just need a place to stay. Not luxury but good value for the price. Very close to an excellent subway service. Staff are very friendly and helpful. If you ask ahead they will book a taxi for you from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport at the end of your stay. We got ripped off by a taxi at the airport who charged 80 euros; the hotel arranged rate is 45.

The neighborhood surprised me a bit, but I was not really afraid. The only criticism is that the showerhead is very powerful and the shower curtain is too flimsy, so the downdraft of cool air plus the water combine to push the curtain aside and flood the floor. A heavier shower curtain will likely solve the problem.

Very clean good value mid range hotel situated less than a five minute walk to metro station..fifteen minutes to Termini(central Rome) and ten minutes to Anagnina(connect by bus to Ciampino airport and Ryanair). Staff were very helpful with smiley faces. Breakfast was great. Adjoining restaurant was not particularly wonderful..try the chinese/italian restaurant on street to left of hotel. We struggled to get an effective broadband wifi connection however computers (free use) are available. No need to take laptop. Surrounding area looks rather depressed but no problem walking about at night. Tourist guide books available at reception. Lift/elevator available to upper floors. Would return and would recommend to friends and family.

Don't let the foyer fool you, I nearly vomited when I smelt the bathroom! Spend a little more ca$h and stay somewhere else, this pace is off the maps. Plus the lift is dodgy and we got stuck in it trying to get to the breakfast room, which is too much for me. Staff were good, I will give them that.

we enjoyed our stay at the guest house, the employees were really nice people. I would stay there again, very close to the metro which is cheap and easy to use. There is a chinese restaurant round the corner which serves italian food also, very cheap and very friendly, forget the italian restaurant next door, expensive and not very welcoming

THIS WAS THE 2ND TIME WE HAD STAYED AT THE CITY GUEST HOUSE AND AS BEFORE THE WELCOME WE RECEIVED WAS AS COMPETANT AND HELPFUL AND EFFECIENT AS THE 1ST TIME. THE GUEST HOUSE IS ONLY 5 MINS WALK FROM THE METRO AND 15 MINS TRAVEL FROM CITY CENTRE WITH PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS WITHIN 5 MINS WALK FROM GUEST HOUSE. WOULD RECCOMEND TO ANY OTHER TRAVELLERS.

Although the hotel was acceptable with the price there were several factors that made it clear I would never return. These are 1. It was so far away from the city centre 2. There were not many shops or facilities around the local area 3. The hotel staff were friendly apart from just one. She was the mother of the owner and was so rude that I wrote a letter of complaint. Strangely no reply from management. My girlfriend had got lost in Rome on a day out and I was frantically looking for her. Her mobile phone did not work in Italy so she left it in the hotel. The only possible method of contact she would have was calling the hotel (if she remembered the name) as it was her first time in Italy and we had only been there about 1 night. She was wondering around the city centre unable to speak Italian, able to contact me and did not know how to get back. So the only slight chance of contact was via the hotel reception if she managed to find the number through her own enquiries. So I explained this all to the hotel staff (who I later learnt was the owner's mother). She found the whole thing amusing and was smirking. I asked her to contact me on my mobile phone if my girlfriend made contact with her so I can collect her. I was going to go in search of her around the city centre and was relying on the phone call to assist me in finding her. SHE REFUSED as my mobile would be an international call (how much would it cost? 50 pence to pass on the information ... is this a lot for a business to pay?!) She even laughed that she has 4 of her own daughters and none of them would ever get themselves in this situation. I am very happy for her that her daughters would not find themselves in this situation. However, unfortunately one of her guests did and she could not care less. I did eventually manage to find my girlfriend WITHOUT the assistance of the hotel. When I found her she was crying her eyes out and scared to death. Highly recommend that nobody goes to this hotel

I thought the quality of the hotel was great for the price. Staff were on the whole helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fairly basic and the same each day - but perfectly adequate. A small roll, a sweet croissant, cereal, biscuits, butter, jam & spreads, fruit juice and coffee. Free internet access is available in recpetion. The restaurant next door is quite nice and reasonably priced but tends to start filling up pretty quickly after 9pm - so get there earlier. The surrounding area is not particularly interesting for tourists but the hotel is a very short walk to the Metro station - which gives you good access to the centre and other areas. I recommend you take the Metro to San Giovanni and explore the market that runs on Via Sanio right alongside the Aurealian Gate and city walls. There's an excellent department store there too - Coin - where you'll find some unusual, good value gifts to take home.

Re: City Guest House, Rome, Italy Hi The description of the city guest house indicated that it was situated near the colloseum in Rome. In fact it was situated miles away and we had to take an extensive tube journey everyday to get to the centre. The hotel was situated in a very poor area in Rome and I did not feel safe going out in the evenings. The staff were unhelpful and in fact rude at times. The room was substandard and the bathroom shower and sink was blocked all week even though I asked for it to be mended. There was a constant drain smell from the toilet, sink and shower. Only 1 out of 7 lights worked and we had no lighting for the first three days of our stay. There was no facility to make drinks in the room and when requesting this we were confronted by a very rude and aggressive receptionist. The breakfast was disgusting and on several occasions there was no food and no clean cutlery and no tables to sit at and on two occasions we were given sour and out of date butter. The noise from the residential appartments underneath was horrific and spoilt my holiday. Your website did not indicate that the city guest house was residential and for guests, which is misleading. We were on the 3rd floor and the lift did not work most of the time and when it did it took you to a different floor to what you had pressed. On several occasions were were told by the cleaner to leave the room and stand in the hall way whilst they cleaned. When eventually we were given a kettle and cups after persistent requests, the cleaner took them out of the room on a daily basis even though we had asked them not to. Again I had to contact the rude and aggressive receptionist to ask for them returning. This holiday was booked as a romantic present for my 40th birthday and supposed to be a special treat. I was disgusted with our treatment from staff and the substandard conditions of the city guest house which totally spoilt my birthday and holiday. I feel so strong

The distance from central Rome is probably the only detractor to this establishment but at least it is in walking distance to a metro stop. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast service is good and the enclosed rooftop dining area was nice. Free internet until 11 pm (one computer, though). The rooms were adequate, although my father complained that the beds were too narrow. No problems with hot water. There was a wide range of age groups, from couple with children and young adults to newlyweds and mature couples. I recommend this hotel if you do not mind the 20 minute ride on metro to the main sites area. The hotel's restaurant next door is good offering a casual and warm ambiance.

This hotel is much better than the price suggests; the room and hotel are what you would expect however the cleaniness and service is five star. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and all speak English. The only difficulty was the area, it wass nice not to be in the centre, however, the information provided in the Rome travel guide's is incorrect, the metro closes at 21:00. This means if you want to experience the centre at night, only a long bus ride will get you in and out. Although, the restaurant next door 'Ascari' was the best meal I have ever experienced!! Furthermore, the local prices are half that of the centre, ENJOY! All in all, great but be wary of the restrictions the distance from the centre will cause.

This hotel was good, the staff was great! very very helpful and welcoming, the room was ok, it was clean enough and it had a balcony! but the low points were a)the location, although its very close to a subway station--numidio quadrato it still takes you a while to get there and theres no turist points around, when u get off the metro station its a little difficult to get there, so i suggest get in touch with the hotel before, so they can send u directions and b)the noise -- i swear i heard a couple nearby, having sex!!! i heard them moan and scream! and im trying to sleep to get up early the next day to go to the airport!!! =S at the same time i thought 'its so embarassing to have my mom here' since this is supposed to be her vacation and it seemed like we were in a one-night-stand-motel ---yuck! i would recommed this hotel only if u don't mind about the noise...good luck!

The location of the hotel was right in comparison with what was on the web site. However, the breakfast was not so good, the "croissant" and the pieces of bread were frozen food and the cutlery were not really clean. On the other hand the room was very nice and very clean. A good point is that the subway station "numidio quadrato" is really near and there is a wonderful restaurant next door. The team of the hotel was also nice. We stayed 5 nights.

This was a great value for Rome and we lucked out with a parking space in front of the hotel for free. It isn't fancy, but you don't really go to Rome to stay in a hotel room. A quick walk to the metro, though getting into the city took some time. The upside, hanging out with the commuters. This is not a good place for people with mobility issues.

Our room was good enough, but not more than that. It was on the backside and therefore quiet. For the others on the streetside it was NOT quiet at all. The breakfast was a bit poor. Enough coffee and bread and a bit fruityoghurt, but no cheese, meat or egg's. Our room was as on the foto's, but not as warm as far as the coulors. The Shuttle is only from/to the main airport.... Not for us therefore... It is close to the Metro (Numidio Quadrato), so the city is always close although the position is pretty far outside the city.

Cute place but too many "issues"! The person who greeted us was very cold and unwelcoming - she handed us a key and pointed to the elevators (and made certain we knew she had been waiting for us). Front desk staff were usually on personal calls (took over 4 hours to get through and advise of our late arrival). Some staff were very friendly, others were cold and distant. Hotel is ok and room was fine (very basic), but the neighborhood is pretty run down (women traveling alone should NOT stay here). Street noise made it very difficult to sleep. Location is 20 minutes (including walk & subway) from the main attractions in Rome, and the subway closes at 9:00 pm... makes evenings a little difficult (or expensive to return by taxi). Overall, we loved Rome but would stay somewhere else next time.

Breakfast offered is very poor and no variation is offered. Overall quality/price ratio for Rome is good, compared with other locations in Italy very poor. But this is the price you have to pay visiting Rome!

My mom and I spent a really good time in this Hotel which is located near the metro station. The breakfast was very good and the people working there were very kind and helpful. The only negative point is the map provided to get there : if you do not ask for the pick up and come by metro (line A), you should get out at "Numidio Quadrato" stop and ask for your way. Roman are really nice and helpful. Thanks to the City Guest House for the nice stay !

Elevator broke convienently 5 minutes before our usage. Repair guy came that day, however was not fixed the following 2 days. The first floor of the hotel rooms is actually the 3rd floor (which in Europe begins on the 4th floor) and climbing stairs with luggage or for elderly/disabled persons was a chore. Toilets emitted strong urine odor. Outside construction wasn't so much a noise problem, it was the inside noises that weren't shielded well enough against. The neighborhood is not great, didn't feel completely safe walking around, however location is convenient to the Metro station. There were a few great restaurants within walking distance. Air condition worked great. Shower pressure was low and water did not get above a tepid temperture. Would suggest staying closer to the center of the city. Overall, the hotel did the job, but quality and circumstances were disappointing for the price.

The Hotel is priced correctly for what they offer. Clean rooms and friendly reception. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel but there are some near by. Breakfast was OK/sufficient - fresh breads, coffee & fruit juice etc. The location is good for flights in/out of Campino airport only 25 Euro for a taxi (taxis are cheaper than Shuttle Bus service to this hotel). Its very close to the metro station but look out for public transport strikes in Roma, the hotel is a long walk (about 40 minutes) to the nearest attractions if no taxis are available. The road outside the hotel is a little noisy but rooms facing away from the road are available and they are much quieter.

I went with my girlfriend and we stay on a double room (big room), the hotel is very clean and the competence of employees is very good. They will help you with every doubt you may have. The hotel is 3 minutes far from the metro. It's far from th center but in metro you'll get there in 10-15 minutes. There's a Italian - Chinese restaurant in front (good food and very cheap), some mini markets, a small shopping center near the metro... I recommend this hotel for everyone who want's to save money but not saving in quality.

We were there for a couple nights. The double room we had did not look like the photographs. It wasnt as 'new and bright'. The A/C while it did work was on the verge on not working. However, there was a heat wave while we there. We had wire type beds that squeaked a little and were average in comfort. Bathroom average. Overall though the room was ok though. It was clean, spacious and comfortable to come back to after a long day of battling the streets of rome. Maybe we were just unlucky and got what was left over. Location was a little suspect but nothing to be worried about. Hotel was close to the main shopping road in that area so that was beneficial for getting food, water, supplies etc. There were lots of shops. Hotel was also conviniently close to the metro entry/exit. It didnt take long to get into central Rome via the metro. You remain on the same line few a stops. We found the metro is good to catch. A light breakfast in the nice outdoor area was provided. The girls at reception spoke english and were very helpful. In summary, nothing flash but for us just a place to stay. Convinient to metro and local shopping.

This was our first stay at the hotel. Breakfast was nice on the roof terrace and our room was very clean. Receptionists spoke very good English and went out of their way to find the location / directions to the concert venue that we were going to on the Saturday. Location is more in the residential part of Rome, 5 minute walk to the nearest underground metro that gets you to all the major attractions of Rome. Would stay here again! ps a lovely cappacino for breakfast together with warm croissants, bread and a variety of cereal, a good starter for the day ahead, all within the price.

The rooms were spacious and clean. A bit out of the way, but close to metro – 10 to 15 minutes from sights. Good price for Rome. Metro closes at 9:00 PM and one either needs to figure out the bus situation or take a cab, which costs about 15-18 euros from the sights. The room was noisy – you can even hear the guy in the next room snoring. You also get some street noise. The neighbor hood is lively, but not touristy. We found some nice restaurants near by. At night some people started socializing in the common room outside of our room. We had no way to get a hold of anyone to deal with the situation, so I had to go speak with them – thankfully they were good about it. Breakfast was OK.

This Hotel was the worst I have stayed in my trip to Italy. It was difficult to locate the Hotel from the inaccurate map. I asked several locals and they were unable to tell me how to get to the hotel. When we finally managed to check in to the hotel, we noticed the floors at first glance was clean, it was actually very dusty and dirty, which made our feets black. Furthermore, there was NO change in our towels. They kept insisting it would be changed in 2 days, but for the 4 nights we stayed the was no change at all. The walls were as thin as paper, the room next to our was so noisy as they were talking all night we couldnt get any sleep. Also, the air condition wasn't working and in summer this can be incredibly hot. But what drives me insane is the attitude of the staff, they were sarcastic and unhelpful. When I mentioned my room was hot, the female staff told me I could fan myself to sleep with a copy of their brochure. Wow. Also, when I spoke to another staff, she wouldnt look at me and just kept having her personal conversation on the phone. In Summary, please do yourself a favour and find a better hotel to stay in rome.

nice place for those who have stayed before at Rome and want to expereience a little bit more of the non-touristic city. photos show a little bit more of what you wont find in real. it´s less a hotel than a very clean and more private hostel without dorms but apartments in IKEA style. but it´s defenetly it´s price worth.

1. I had a request for a baby cot in my room. Actually, they did not have a baby cot to provide in my room. So, they gave a broken baby cot which we could not use at all! Even upon several requests, nothing happened! 2. The quality of the towels provided was very poor. They were just like some piece of clothes! 3. Otherwise, the property was good enough by all means.

I was quite surprised at the room quality and clealiness. It seems that each room has a balcony, and although I get vertigo at anything above pavement level, I can see how others might view this as an advantage. One small note, however, it wasn't made clear the whilst venere.com took my credit card details, I had to pay the hotel directly. Almost caused an arguement!

I was sceptical of previous ratings by other guests before I arrived. Their ratings were very good for such a cheap hotel. However, on arrival, I found the staff extremely helpful, their English put me to shame and their knowledge of Rome and local good restaurants was invaluable. To top it all off nicely, was the fact that the Metro was just around the corner, and cost £2.60 for a day's travel.

This is a really good place and the closest Metro Line is about a couple of minutes on foot. The location, though a bit out of the city centre is well connected and has good eating joints. The personnel were friendly and helpful. The only small grievance is that, we were not informed earlier about the hotel being closed on the Christmas Day.

We stayed three nights at this hotel and really liked it. Staff was nice, our room was great just like the pictures showed, and breakfast was great. Dont expect eggs and ham though... it was basically crossiants, cold cereal, yogurt, and great coffee, but that was better for us than paying 5 euros per person for that same food somewhere else. The location was fine... you basically have to choose between location and price, so we chose price. It is about a 15 minute metro ride for there to the center, and their metro system in Rome is AWFUL!! They are so crowed we had to wait at least for 3 train rides every time until one stopped that had enough room and then you have to fight with the rest of the people that are trying to get in. And the time between time is too long, people are jammed packed, they are dirty, and full of graffity. So make time for that experience. Overall, its a great place to stay if you dont mind not being in the center of Rome.
