My room at the Cinquantatre was perfect for me, it was clean but small. The breakfast room had a lovely outdoor rooftop patio which was very pleasant. The hotel is within walking distance of many highlights of Rome including Via Veneto, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful.

Our room at the Cinquantatre was terrific. It even had a spacious shower - at least for Italian hotels. The breakfast room was on the 5th floor - and included an outdoor rooftop patio. What a spectacular way to start your day in Rome. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Via Veneto, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and so much more. Staff was very helpful.

One of the best locations in Rome. Very good transport connections. Beautiful surroundings. The Hotel could be more silent and clean (it is better for young people), but the employees are very nice.

The hotel is very well situated. The room was clean with air conditioned, tv and a clean bathroom. The hotel has a tiny elevator but to carry up the bagage is enough. The breakfast is served in the last floor with a small terrace with 3 tables so you can have your breakfast outdoors or indoors. It is not buffet breakfast, you are served the hot beverages and a small basket with croissant and some bread. I recommend it because is very close to everything, the Trevi Fountain at 10-15 min. walking, the same the Spanish steps, and the Quirinale at 5 min., Termini railway station can be at 15-20 min. walking, the Hard Rock Cafe and the Cafe Paris at 5 min. There is also a parking near, the Parking Ludovisi.

With the exception of NO access to internet in this hotel, it is a wonderful choice if you want to be in the heart of Rome! Steps to Via Veneto and the Barberini Metro station. Within walking distance to Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain and the shopping district. Beautiful rooftop terrace for breakfast, but the breakfast food selection was rather limited. Rooms and bathrooms are extremely spacious. TINY one person elevator. Definitely not wheelchair accessible. Wonderful choice for stay in Rome!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is excellent - all the main sites are within walking distance and with the metro station so close by it's easy to get to & from the airport & easy to find the hotel. The hotel is really clean & we really enjoyed our breakfast (the option of having breakfast on the balcony is lovely). We would recommend this hotel & would stay here again.

Hotel is well located and easy to find being a 2minute walk from the Barberini underground station. Not much of an entrance hall and tiny lift but nothing unusual there for a European hotel. Breakfast is a simple affair of coffee, cereal and bread, but it has a small balcony for afresco dinning. We stayed in room 502, a good sized room & bathroom for Rome and an excellent sized balcony. The only small problem was that floor five is directly below the breakfast area on level six so it may wake you up in the morning. All in all a better than expected hotel.

A small hotel in an old building. The furnishings were quite old. TV was old, and no English channels. Breakfast was standard continental. The lady serving was friendly although she couldn't speak any English. The concierge on morning shift was extremely helpful and very friendly. He helped plan our activities often, and always answered our questions and requests. On the other hand the older man on the late shift was quite rude on one occasion when we returned to the hotel late one evening.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cinquantatre! The staff members were gracious, friendly, and helpful. The room was great--large enough and with a clean, comfortable bathroom. The breakfast on the roof terrace was absolutely charming! The breakfast staff members even remembered our drink preferences from the first morning. The location was incredible: we walked to the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain. There is a subway stop at the corner so we could quickly get to the Vatican and to the Colisseum. We had no problems at all with noise, ventilation, etc. Even on the hottest day, our room was a pleasant temperature. The lobby and elevator are very small but we did not find this to be even a minor inconvenience.

Well...I will start the review by simply saying that the lady who was serving us breakfast was the most wanderful person we met in Rome those three days we spent there. Grazie mille!!! She was so kind, and was kind enough to ask us whether we have specifically asked for the goat cheese for breakfast, which we actually did, but were afraid in the end to ask ourself :) Otherwise, the hotel was basically as expected. One of those which are placed in apartment buildings which you might also find in Paris in big numbers. Things are then quite tight and there is only fundamental things available. Nevertheless, they made good effort to offer us some convinience (mini-bar) and comfort (spacious bed and toliet ?!) All in all - we would come again to the same place, for the same price. The deficiencies only relate to the noise which was comming from the courtyard during the night.

We asked for the balcony room and it was beautiful, but underneath the breakfast room so a little noisy for us late sleepers! We arrived later than expected as our flight was delayed, by which time everything was locked up, though eventually someone did come to let us in. More rooms than tables meant we had to wait for breakfast on our last day, but the food was good. The bathroom looked freshly redone, the bath/shower was awesome. Some staff were wonderful, a few were not so friendly, but overall my partner and I had a fabulous stay and I would recommend this hotel again.

The hotel is in an excellent and quiet location and offers very reasonable rates. The lobby is so tiny one must shimmy between the desk and door to enter. Desk staff were generally less than bubbly but competent. The ladies in the breakfast room were much more welcoming and friendly. The overpowering aroma of bakery goods awoke us at 6:00 a.m. each morning, emitting apparently from the bar next door which produces its own croissants. By the third morning we were feeling queasy from it. Not sure if this carries throughout the entire building (we were on the first floor). However, for a room free of the street noise so typical in Rome, it is a good place.

This hotel is located at the base of the Via Veneto. It's a great, central location. The neighborhood is very pleasant. Public transportation is very accessible. It's located on a quieter street, but if you have a room on the street side, it can still be a little noisy due to street traffic. The public areas are a bit shabby -- needing a little deeper cleaning and regular maintenace. The room itself was very comfortable and well equipped. It, too, could have used some deeper cleaning and minor maintenance. All-in-all, it seems to be a good find for Rome when compared to hotels of similiar categories.

Really great location for this small hotel. Very small elevator that can hold one passenger with luggage or two without but overall our stay here was great! The breakfast selection was not as good as others that I have stayed at in Rome but it was ok. We had a really awesome room with a huge terrace and the bathroom was very spacious. Only thing about the staff was: we asked the girl to call a taxi for us the next day to go to the airport and she said ok, but when i went down in the morning to confirm, she had never ordered us a taxi, so thank God I went down to confirm because I would have been late if I was waiting for a taxi that was never called! But all in all, this hotel was good.

At first, the hotel seems small and cramped. The furniture is nice wood, typical italian, good quality. We were especially lucky, because we were given a triple room with a terrace to the courtyard, which is the best room in the hotel. For that kind of price you won't find a cleaner room nor a better location in Rome. The hotel is close to the Piazza Barberini stop of all the sightseeing buses in Rome. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace is great. Considering the budget, I would go back there anytime.

My girlfriend and I stayed, for the first time, at Hotel Cinquantatre (however not the first time in Roma) and Nima, our hotel "proprietor" was spectacular. He was extremely helpful prior to us arriving in that he was able to arrange for a driver from the airport to the hotel and then, unexpectedly, again arranging for a driver from Rome to Abruzzo. And all very quickly. Thank you Nima!! I would recommend staying here as not only because Nima was as charming as he was, but the fact that we were maybe a 10 minute walk from Piazza Spagna and a direct route to so many other famous Piazza's in Roma. The hotel itself was tranquill, yet so close to alot of the sites & action in Rome.

We found this hotel to be dated and faded, we had room 202, the bathroom was apallingly dirty, the floor was grubby, the bath was coated in mould also the ceiling had a hole where a leak had occured. The bed was clean, but with a grubby faded throw, which we removed. The public internet area showed signs of mould and damp and was used as a storage place for leaflets etc. The lift was tiny with room for one person and a suitcase. In all fairness the breakfast room and terrace were pretty, the breakfast of rolls and coffee, was as you would expect. The staff serving breakfast were friendly and welcoming. The only thing going for this hotel was the location, which was handy for sightseeing, I would not rate this hotel as 3*.

This was our first visit to rome.location was the best thing i could say about this hotel. the worse thing was the absence of a lobby area where you could come in after a days sightseeing and relax. you had to come in and head straight to your room in our case with a view out the back you would not hang about for too long there. there was no bar as i had seen mentioned on the internet page and the actual breakfast room bore no resemblance to the one portrayed on the internet. the breakfast balcony consisted of three tables and a lot of overgrown plants around. no menu for breakfast you were just asked what did you want it was the third morning before i discovered there were cereals on offer you had to go and poke around yourself. this hotel has a 3 star rating and because we were booked in for 3 nights and needed to book a 4th night and luckily they could not put us up we got another 3 star hotel 2 streets away and the difference between the two was spectacular. a proper buffet breakfast laid out with everything on offer cleanliness A-1 freindly professional staff and a huge lobby with travel books laid out for guests. i am recommending this hotel to everyone since i came home.we also had a balcony with seats to look out over the city when in the room and the minibar was stocked with a lot more than the 1st hotel.the 1st hotel had a carpet on the stairs and landings that never saw a hoover dust on the handrails and the lift could only take 2 slim people at a time! this hotel should be downgraded to a 1star with immediate effect.

This was my second trip to Rome, and Hotel 53 is outstanding! Each morning we awoke to the smell of fresh baked bread! We had the suite with the wrap around terrace, which was amazingly beautiful. The staff spoke relatively good English, and most of them were pretty helpful. The breakfast was typical, yet charming. I would recommend this hotel to EVERYONE!

Great location and very helpful staff. Room was dusty, bathroom was overall clean but there was mold at the bottom of shower doors. Breakfast was good. If you like to sleep in a little don't book a room on the 5th floor as it is below the breakfast area and gets noisy starting 7a.m.

The hotel is located in an excellent area. Very near the metro station barberini. Our room was small but very clean. We had a few mosquitoes in our room. Our showerhandle holder was broken. There is complimentary internet in your room. However, ours was broken. After more careful inspection, we realized it was not properly connected to the tv and keyboard batteries were drained. The breakfast was plentiful and wonderful. Breakfast was brought up to your room daily as the outdoor terrace was being renovated. Breakfast consisted of fresh croissants, buns, american jams, cereal, tea or coffee, juice, crackers, cheese! It was very hearty and yummy! The front desk gentleman was very helpful and spoke very good english. The hotel is within 15min walking distance to the trevi fountain. We found the hotel to be very conveniently located! There were also some tasty restaurants located nearby.

For a solo traveler with a moderate budget this hotel suited me fine. The rooms were clean and well furnished, a bit small but that wasn't a problem for me. The staff was courteous and we were able to communicate enough to check-in, check-out, resturant recommendation, taxi info, etc. The location of this hotel is very good and you can walk to most typical destinations from here. If walking isn't your thing, there is a taxi stand and a metro station nearby (although walking is a much better way to get around). Plenty of places nearby to eat, shop etc within a block. The best part of the hotel is the small terrace at the top of the building which is a nice place to start you day (a respectable breakfast is served) and a nice place to just unwind at the end of the day before dinner. The noise level from the street is not overwhelming, but it is a well travelled street. -one word of warning to single males: if you are walking around this area at night alone you will be approached by other "solo tourists" to go have a drink. These guys are plants from the many upscale brothels in the area. This is a classic hustle in many cities which can cost you a fortune if you a fool enough to accept the congenial invitation.

This was a charming hotel, very close to the beautiful (and much more expensive) Via Veneto area. Our reception was warm and friendly and room was ready when we arrived. This is not a big hotel with elaborate front entrance, etc. It has a small front entryway and a tiny elevator. However, if you are looking for a charming and clean place to stay at a moderate price, I would recommend it.
