Great helpful staff. Everything straightforward. A bit pricey for what you get. Our room was located next to a hair salon that was quite noisy throughout the day, but not a problem late at night.

Perfect place to stay - close to Termini, clean room and bathroom area, no problems with water, rooms cleaned every day, towels changed every second day, hair-dryer in the bathroom, small fridge in the room. Breakfast served in the tiny lobby, but it wasn't crowded when we had our breakfast (fresh bun, butter, cheese, jam, prepacked sweet bun, cereal, juice, coffee or tea). Enough as a start of a day. On the day of early start, staff gave us prepacked bun and dry bread to take along. English-speaking staff was very friendly and helpful. We paid by card except the city taxes (2 euro/night). Neighbours in the adjacent room were loud in the night but this is not a fault of a hotel. Would stay in this hotel again. Excellent price/value ratio.

Quiet, clean, comfortable and with pleasant, helpful staff. It was excellent as an economical and central place to sleep for one night for two days of being a tourist in Rome. I'd be happy to return there for a longer stay (and probably will). Yes, the breakfast area is of limited size but the staff were happy to take breakfast up to your room if there wasn't space in the breakfast area, at no extra charge. Air conditioning worked well, again at no extra charge. I'm more than happy to recommend Hotel Chicago as a place to stay.

We stayed for 5 nights and we were very happy with our choice!Depends on what everyone wants, for us, for paying 59 euro per night in high season in Rome was more than ok! During the night was quiet, and there is air condioned so we had no problem for sleeping! There were orthopedic beds, so for people who are having backpain is a right choice. In the morning we had breakfast in the room, at 8 a.m, italian breakfast(croisants, coffee, cheese, yogurt, butter), which was enough for starting the day! Also, was possible to pay by card, except the city tax wich is 2 euro per night per person! Overall, we definetly use this hotel again!!!!

Had a great one night stay here. Not sure if I was upgraded, but my room was the one with separate entrance and two twin beds. Very spacious (for Europe) and clean. Only problem was the shower not draining well, but I've noticed this a lot in Europe.

The staff where very helpful in every way, the room facilities where excellent. The location was right next to the Termini Station which was so handy for travelling around the City. There where lots of really reasonablely priced cafe's and restaurants close by and I would recommend this Hotel to any one wanting to stay in Rome. We had a wonderful time.

We stayed for 7 nights and would return. Friendly, english speaking, breakfast brought to room, beds made every day. Clean, hot showers and located 5 mins from Termini with all its transport connections. We also paid by card so ignore the remarks that you can only pay cash. Very helpful at the reception desk. We stayed in apartments a couple of minutes walk from the main hotel but don't be put off this is quite routine in the area. Many hotels have seperate safe apartments in other buildings.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Chicago. The staff was very helpful throughout our whole stay. The room was nice, safe, and comfortable; as well as being cleaned every day. Hotel was in good central location in Rome as well. The only problem we had during our stay was noise, which wasn't completely the hotel's fault. Other guests were talking very loudly outside our room in the mornings, and a few times the cleaning crew got a little loud; but none of this usually lasted long. Overall a really enjoyable experience and would definitely return on another trip.

You've guessed it folks- the credit card machine is still not working. We anticipated and took cash but 9 people in 4 rooms for 4 nights was 1500 Euros so that was a lot to carry. However the free safe was appreciated. The reception area can only accomodate 6 people comfortably though I guess they can spill over into the courtyard in the summer. On one morning they brought breakfast to our rooms as the breakfast area was busy. On our final morning we had an early start but they gave us our breakfast in bags to take away. The rooms were clean and fairly recently furnished and decorated. Our room was on the ground floor and had that drain smell you expect in older Roman properties especially when it rains. Overal we would use the Chicago again.

Very clean room and nice and helpful staff. The bed was a little bit too hard for us and you could sometimes hear the next room people like they were in your room. But anyway, we only went there to sleep because there is so much to see in Rome. The location is exellent. Breakfast was typical italian, we would have liked something salty. But we would definitely come here again.

I booked this hotel at last hour because others hotels near the area cancelled my reservations. I read a good feedback about this hotel and I booked. I gotta say it surprised me, because everything was as they said. Room and bathroom very clean and big. The breakfast its very good for a little hotel like these. The hotel surroundings are not the best, but the important for us was that it was close to the Termini. We would definitely stay there again. Also, we are from Argentina, not Switzerland.

This hotel was perfect for my needs: a no-frills overnighter close to the Termini station in order to catch the train for a *very* early flight out of the Rome Fiumicino Airport. The room was clean and moderately spacious; the water pressure was excellent; I felt that my belongings were secure for the day while I meandered around the city for a few hours. However, I would not recommend this hotel for a longer stay in Rome. Being so close to the Termini means it's loud at night - even with the courtyard that did an excellent job of blocking out much of the noise. The streets around the Termini are crowded, noisy, packed with vendors and other characters who want to part you from your money - both legally and otherwise. Even just a few blocks away makes a huge difference. I was informed upon check-in that I needed to pay in cash, even though I had confirmed my reservation online with a credit card. The desk clerk said that the credit card machine was broken; when I told them that they had my credit card information on file and could just charge me once their machine was working again, I was told "No, this is not possible". I had time to go to an ATM machine, but it was an inconvenience I would have rather forgone. Other than that, the service was fine. Romantic getaway? Not even close. But serviceable, for sure.

Great Location; Clean & Comfortable; Good Value. We stayed for 3 nights using the Chicago as our base. The train/bus station was only a 3min walk giving us full access to all of Romes attractions. The Hotel was quiet, and had friendly, helpful staff. The room was spacious, comfortable and Air Conditioned (a blessing as Rome had a heat wave) The included continental breakfast was simple and suffice. There were many bars and eateries surrounding the hotel for snacks or other meals.

The hotel was very clean, the breakfast is brought to the room. Breakfast is Italian standard. Everything is near. Interesting places, transport. Staff is friendly, but we needed to wait a few before entering the room.

We stayed at the Hotel Chicago in April 2010 and this was the first time we ever booked a 1 star hotel, so our expectations were quite low. But we figured that there was no need to pay 50 Euro or more extra for a higher class hotel were the customer reviews were bad, since we only needed to shower and sleep in the room. But our room was very nice, recently renovated I think, very clean. It was a bit small, but that didn't matter. The bathroom was very small as well, but it was clean and the water in the shower was hot and with lots of water pressure. The reception of the hotel is very small, and yet this is also where breakfast is served. Again, we had very small expectations, but we were served juice, coffee, a roll, a croissant and some toast and a plate with cheese, jams and butter. Their credit card machine is still "broken", so we had to pay cash. We asked for a refund though since we have to pay a fee to our bank in order to withdraw cash, and we got it (5 euro). All in all - great loacation close to the Termini (we walked to everything - even the Vatican), clean and with a good service. This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations of a 1 star hotel, and I would prefer this over a 3 star, old, dirty, more expensive hotel any day.

Hotel Chicago is fabulous for the price. The rooms are immaculate and well-appointed and the breakfast is much better than most. Plus the cappuccinos make it a winner! We had lovely interactions with both of the men who work the front desk and the two young ladies who do breakfast/cleaning. The location is convenient near Termini, but this was our only major drawback for this hotel. The area is a food wasteland (other than Trattoria Monti, GO THERE!...and get the rigatoni with pork sausage), so we had to trek to most worthwhile restaurants. Otherwise Hotel Chicago is a fabulous deal, can't beat it for the price!

We visit Rome frequently and this was just an overnight stop on this occasion. Our first stay here and was impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. Rooms a little more than basic but spotless and even toiletries in bathroom and plenty of towels. Breakfast simple rolls, croissant etc and loads of refills of coffee. Have tried many hotels in Rome and this was certainly value for money in a very competitive market. Would stay here again.

My wife and I and our two kids stayed in a quad for two nights. Hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the Rome Termini. Room was small with almost no space to move around. The room was not very clean; especially under the beds. Beds were not comfortable. No internet in the rooms. If you want to check your email, you have to inconvenience the manager and use his PC in the reception area. The reception area includes the breakfast area which only has space for three small tables - major problem when more than a few people arrive for breakfast. The breakfast was meager- just some rolls with "juice" (tasted like Koolaid) and coffee. The thing that I will always remember is the young lady who was responsible for serving breakfast: She always had a scowl on her face. When we asked her for some more bread, she told us "only one roll per customer"! Their credit card machines were still not working and so I ended paying them using Paypal. Not recommended.
