A perfect alternative to spending nearly double to open windows to view of Pantheon or Piazza Navone (which I've also done), since it's a lovely hotel very close to everything in the old heart of Rome but is affordable. Rooftop dining, lovely surroundings, definitely a hotel I'll return to. Staff was superb, helpful. My only 'neutral to negative' comment would be that all 4-5 star hotels should offer free WIFI at this point in time, don't you agree?

Great location and great breakfast for an european hotel. Nice hotel, terrase top an additional asset to the hotel, especially for breakfast or drinks at night. Walking distance to almost everywhere and public transportation if required is also phenomenal. Direct bus #175 from train station to the hotel. Highly recommended. Staff members were not as informed as they should be. They were unable to direct me Borghese Museum which is a must see museum while in Rome. Luckily I checked my invoice before leaving the front desk, the charges were different from what it should have been. Once pointed out to the reservation desk, an apology was immediate and a corrected invoice produced. The water drainage in the bathroom in my room did not flow but collected. Service was sent three times to try to fix the problem. Although there was a great improvement, I recommend that Hotel Cesari do have this problem permanently fixed. Note that there are free orchestra performances infront of the St. Ignatius Church located right in the back of the hotel. As you step out of this hotel, you are three minutes walking distance from the Patheon to the left, four minutes walking distance to the Trevi Fountain walking to the right and 5 minutes walking distance to Piazza Novona to the left past the Pantheon. For great dinners please take the bus and go over to Trastaverre. The food there is great!!

The Cesari is a beatiful hotel, right in the heart of Rome's historical centre. Everything you wish to see is only a short and enjoyable walk away. We stayed in August for 4 nights with our 2 children aged 10 and 13 and we all loved the hotel for it's location - right next to the Temple of Hadrian and it's piazza, the huge (air conditioned)quad room with 1 large double and 2 regular single beds ( not folding beds as you often get in quad rooms!),the delicious fresh breakfasts every day and the lovely roof terrace where we enjoyed breakfast and a late night drink looking out onto rooftops and churches. Booking was simple and efficient through Venere and the hotel staff were polite and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Hotel Cesari is in an excellent location, with reasonably spacious rooms, quiet windows, and a friendly, competent staff. But the HUGE advantage of this place is its beautiful rooftop bar: gorgeous spot for a drink, great view, extremely nice bartender.

This was my first time in Italy. The hotel had everything you could need and helpful people at the desk. They had a really good cold breakfast on the terrace or inside with ham, proscuitto, cheeses, pastries, cereal, fruit and juices and capuccino, cafe latte or coffee. Location was great, half-way between the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. Rome was just too big for me to walk; and cabs were too expensive. 24-48 hour hop on and hop off bus tours were the best way to travel around the city. The price for this hotel was very good in March and even OK when it went up on April 1.

We´re a family of four members (with grown kids). We stayed 3 nights at Cesari hotel for the first time. The location is excelent (3 blocks from the Trevi Fountain, 4 from Piazza Venezia and 2 from the Pantheon). The room was what we expected and the characteristics were the same seen on the web. It is oK to relax after a day walking everywhere to see the different touristic spots. Good relation quality-prize. It is not a hotel you would say wow!! but overall is a good deal if you go on vacations. Breakfast is great!

We stayed in Rome for a total of 5 days and 4 nights. What can i say, but Rome is Rome. As for the Hotel, our first 4 days / 3 nights was perfect as they had us on the 4th Floor. It had Internet, a great bathroom, a great room, quiet and just a nice place. Food in the morning (Breakfast) was great. Overall it was such a great place and i would take the same hotel again. (Downside - on our last night they had to transfer us to a smaller room due to aircon broke down. The room was small and not enough space for 1, but this is the standard room. What i found out was that this is what we should have gotten from day one and was just happy that we had a gracious upgrade. I would recommend that you get the bigger rooms for three to enjoy the stay)

We booked this hotel for it's close proximity to many sites. That and the rooftop bar and it's bartender are this property's only redeeming quality. The staff were very uncooperative, unhelpful, and indifferent. They NEVER greeted us when we would come in each day - they wouldn't even look up from their work. Our first room was so small and the room was so dirty that we begged them to move us. They finally agreed to move us the next day. They asked us to pack and leave our bags in the room and they would move us to a new room. They did move our bags, but threw our suit bag in a heap on top of the suitcases. This new room was larger, but the bathroom was so moldy around the shower and the tiles were so stained, that I hated going in there for our entire stay. When we mentioned it to the staff, they would barely give us a nod. We stayed in two other hotels in Italy during this trip (with lower rates), and they were both significantly nicer properties and very helpful and pleasant staffs. The rooms look much better on the website than they actually are. There are better options in this location than this property!!!

I loved this hotel. Immediately, I felt like this was my home away from home. The staff at the front desk spoke excellent English and were very accommodating with my questions and reservation requests. The location was perfect - right between the Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi. My room overlooked the street and when the window was closed, the noise was completely diminished. However, the same could not be said between rooms - you could definitely hear your neighbors. This is an old building and that can be expected and I was fortunate that I had quiet neighbors. Don't forget - this isn't a brand new American hotel but it's a 200 year old charming European hotel. Many cafes and restaurants right outside the front door. The room was very clean but as a single, it was very small. This is normal for European single rooms but it surprises you at first. The bathroom was a good size so that compensated. The rooftop terrace was a treat - breakfast in the morning and drinks at night. I will definitely go back to Rome and I will definitely stay at this hotel.

My husband and I and our two children (ages 8 and 10) spent a total of 3 nights at the Cesari. The location is perfect for sightseeing, eating and just enjoying Roma. The roof top space is outstanding and we enjoyed it morning and evening. Our quad room was very spacious, although a bit noisy with the window open. (Always good to travel with earplugs.) The employees were extremely helpful, kind and professional. We will stay here again and definitely recommend it to friends!

Needless to say, if you are looking for a hotel in Rome with history, charm, and convience to Rome's marvels, look no more. Albergo Cesari met all of our expectations as to the quality of our stay and the centrality of its location. (If you wished, you could walk to most--if not all--of the historic and cultural sites in Rome.) They do offer a range of rates and room types and it does help that they were just remodeled in 2007. If the other rooms are as good as ours, they have a great thing going. And, by the way, the roof garden breakfast/bar area is just through a renovation and it is fabulous. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The location of Hotel Cesari is great - right in the middle of everything. We easily walked everywhere and were happy to be in the middle of the historical area of Rome. Even though we were in the middle of everything, the room was soundproof, which was very nice. The breakfast was served on the roofdeck of the hotel, which was a great way to start the day. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard, maybe a bit above average. The Cesari staff was extremely helpful in offering guidance and making reservations.

What a wonderful hotel! We were able to get a spacious quad room (with three beds, one king for us and two twins for the kids) located between the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain (~ 200 meters from both) which was also within walking distance of Piazza Navona, the colleseum/Forum, the Spanish steps and the metro station for the Vatican. The front desk was also able to recommend a fabulous tour company of the Vatican Museum (and the Sistine Chapel) which saved us waiting 3 hrs in the hot August sun and our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, english speaking and funny which even my 11 year old son enjoyed ( the only museum tour in Italy he did truly enjoyed). I'd recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rome. The staff was very friendly, spoke english well and had great recommendations for restaurants nearby the hotel. This was our final stop in Italy and we're thankful to have ended our trip on such a high note.

This hotel was at the PERFECT location:a few blocks from Pantheon, few blocks from Trevi Fountain, 15-20min. walk to Colloseum and Forum, 10min.to Piazza Navona and many cute little sidewalk cafes.Even walked back from the Vatican after a tour there. The rooftop patio was a great place to start the day (with the included buffet breakfast of meats, cheeses, fruit, juices)overlooking Rome.We had a quadruple room(traveled with our 2 teenagers)and everyone had plenty of space. This was not a modern hotel, but instead was very quaint and typical of the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in the center of everything in Rome.

We could not have been happier with Albergo Cesari. It is in an excellent location, in the historical core of Rome--just blocks from the Pantheon. As such, it is surrounded by cobblestone streets, outdoor cafes, shopping, and, of course, spectacular sites. Despite its central location, it was extremely quiet. The room was clean and attractive, with excellent air conditioning (a must in Rome in the summer) and bathroom facilities. Perhaps the best feature was a BEAUTIFUL rooftop terrace, where breakfast was served in the mornings and drinks were served at night. The breakfast was the best we had in two weeks of traveling in Italy. All this for the same price--or less--than we paid at other hotels we stayed in. We will definitely return to Albergo Cesari.

Albergo Cesari is a wonderful hotel with an absolutely stellar location. Within 3 minutes in one direction, you find the Trevi Fountain, three minutes in the other direction, you are standing in front of the Pantheon. The rooms were clean and had many additional ammenities. Out our windows we could watch the activity of foot traffic and several restaurants. The thick windows provided excellent insulation from the noise below and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooftop breakfast and lounge area was not only breathtaking, but the variety of foods was delicious and the wait staff was superb. We stayed here for our very first two nights in Italy and found that this hotel and location created a standard of expectation that we rarely found in our other hotels in different cities. In other words, we were spoiled. My friend and I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Italy as it was within walking distance of virtually every point of interest within the city.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is a great place for a big breakfast, and should now be open for relaxing on later in the day.It is ideally sited for walking to Trevi Fountain etc. Some street noise if you leave the windows open, but that's Rome. Location! Could not ask for a more central hotel, around the corner from Trevi fountain, Pantheon, on Via del Corso, perfect! Went on to stay in 5* hotel (with work) and Cesari was better located, had tea/coffee, complimentary water etc, several things which the 5* lacked. Rooms are on smaller side but you are not staying in Rome to see the inside of a hotel bedroom. Breakfast was fabulous (again better than 5*) and roof top terrace was a welcome surprise! Overall I would use this hotel again and would recommend it to friends, which I suppose is one of the best ways of grading a hotel!

We received a handicapped room without asking for one, so we were pleasantly surprised when we walked into an absolutely spacious corner room. We were within walking distance of the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, and even the Colosseum, but that was a bit of a hike. Very safe neighborhood, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. The walls are PAPER-THIN, though, so don't expect to sleep in. In fact, we tried to sleep in one morning because we had gotten food poisoning the night before, and the maid WALKED into our room, even though there was a privacy notice on the door knob! Overall, though, we were quite pleased with the hotel, and would gladly go back.

The location of this hotel could not be better. The room itself was large and comfortable. When the windows were closed, all street noise ceased. The bathroom was large as well, although the shower stall could have been bigger. Drainage was slow as well and we had to be careful to not let water overflow onto the bathroom floor, even with the high lip around the stall. More English language TV stations would be a good addition to the great satellite reception. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when asked. However, they are clearly not used to being asked to make restaurant reservations (which they willingly did when asked) or to provide expertise. There was construction going on in the back area of the hotel which, while not interfering with our stay in the least (no noise or evidence of work in the main area), had the roof deck closed off. The remaining common areas (ie; bar, lounge) in the lobby are small and basically unused. No effort is made to encourage their usage either. All in all, the location and room itself were well worth staying here but there arent any real frills for those who are used to such things.

All of the major sights and areas of the city are within easy walking distance and there are a whole range of restaurants and ice cream places very close too. There was building work going on at the front of the hotel during our stay but it was not too intrusive. We really recommend this hotel, good value for money in a top location. The Cesari was an absolute delight! The location was central to most major Roman areas. We were able to walk almost anywhere from the hotel. The staff was courteous, knowledgable, friendly and professional - offering solid recommendations on any subject. Our room was very large - we were fortunate as a couple to receive a "family" room. The bathroom was spacious and well-equipped. Breakfast was a delight! An outstanding assortment of pastries, meats, juices and cheese. Capuccino was perfect, served by two wonderful Italian hostesses who worked very hard to please the guests. We will stay here again without hesitation - fantastic hotel!

This hotel has a fantastic location, and is central to all of Romes highlights! This was reflected in the price but it was Holy Week when we went. The breakfast room is a bit small but the food is plentiful. Rooms are just big enough but arent soundproof - all noises from either side can be heard! But no noise from above! All sounds abit of a downer but the staff were lovely and the hotel was clean and efficiently run. Its definately worth getting their own taxi service as the taxi from the airport cost 60euros. There was some renovation work going on on the outside of the building and they started around 7.30am it didnt bother us too much as the weather was cool, but had it been any hotter we wouldn't have been able to open the windows because of the workmen on your windowsill!! All in all an excellently located hotel for a lovely stay. We would all highly recommend this hotel and we all intend to return to Rome having thrown our coins into the fountain!

The hotel was under renovation when we arrived (which was not stated at the time we booked the room), the staff was not friendly nor flexible, breakfast was of poor quality (expired products in the buffet), our room was noisy (vacuum-cleaner of the maid) : overpriced hotel to be disconsidered for romantic and peaceful stays

I had read mixed reviews about the hotel, but the location seemed ideal. Upon arrival, the Hotel Cesari far exceeded my expectations. Our room was huge, even by Italian standards, and tastefully decorated with a very large bathroom. There was some renovation in progress, so we were given a 20% discount on the room. Our luggage was lost on the way over, and the staff at the front desk bent over backwards to make phone calls and try and sort things out with Alitalia. They could not have been more helpful. Some of the reviews cited the small breakfast room, and to be sure, it was not spacious, but the quality and variety of food offered more than made up for this. I have never seen such a breakfast spread in an Italian hotel! And the location of the hotel is perfect for seeing the historic sights in the center of Rome. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is my favorite hotel in Rome. It's not high luxury--just clean, comfortable, and very well located. The staff is very helpful. There is free internet in the lobby (this may be expanded with the current renovation).

With one exception the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. the breakfast room is a bit on the small side but this is not really a problem given the amount of time one spends there. the hotel is centrally located in the heart of the old city. We will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is well located, close to the Pantheon, and so near from Piazza Navonna, Piazza Spagna and Fontana di Trevi. The noise of the street is so high, and it's difficult to sleep. The worst thing is the breakfast, because the room where is served, is very small and narrow. It's incredible! The rest of the hotel and the personnel is excellent, but you cannot have the breakfast with confortability. I didn't understand why!

Great location and quality exceeded 3 star standard published. All facilities excellent, intimate breakfast room with efficient and friendly service. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Location 100 yds from Trevi Fountain and 150 yards from Pantheon couldn't have been more central with everything within walking reach. Hotel organised transport to Fiumcino Airport also value for money compared to train/taxi, certainly for a group of 4 or more. You should definitely stay here if at all possible.

The Hotel's location is excellent. The street below can be noisy, but that is the price you pay for being located in the center of the historic city. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good and provided a great start to each day's wanderings. One minor negative point: our bathroom smelled a bit like mildew (at least I think that is what it was). Overall, we would definitely stay at Cesari again and highly recommend it to others.

An excellent location for walking the back alleys of Rome where all the good restaurants are. Proximity to major attractions, ie, Trevi Fountain, Panthaneon, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, etc. also excellent. Rooms are a bit noisy and dated but all in all a great place to stay in Rome. Would return in a heartbeat.

The hotel was great! The location was perfect---situated right between the Panthenon and the Trevi Fountain--we walked almost everywhere. I would suggest you request an inner room--the rooms facing the street are quite noisy. The staff were very helpful! I would stay at this hotel again when I return to Rome!

We stayed at Cesari for two nights to start off our 2-week honeymoon in Italy. The hotel was in a wonderful, central location in Rome. It was within a very short walk (a few blocks)to the Panthenon and the Trevi Fountain & many restaurants and great shopping. The breakfast included in the nightly price was also a great perk with cappuccino, juices, bread, cheese & sliced meats available. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Rome wanting to be in the heart of everything!

Best location in Rome. The car arranged by the Hotel to meet us at the airport and driven by a wonderful gent Franco began a superb weekend. The Staff were informative and spoke english at the desk.We are over 60 and walked everywhere without effort. The Pantheon, Fontana de Trevi and Piazza Navona are all minutes away. One route took us to Spanish Steps down Via Condotti (Designer shops) across the river , along the bank to the Vatican - a very enjoyable stroll. We enjoyed meals at a number of the many restauarants near the Hotel and the gelato(ice cream) shops were fantastic. We shall certainly return to this hotel.

We stayed in Cesari for 5 days in July 2005. The only downside was the high price, but for a hotel right in the center of Rome's historic part, and in high season, the cost is reasonable. The hotel's location is hard to beat: all major attractions are within walking distance, which is why we selected this hotel in the first place. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast was very good: in addition to wide selection of pastries, cereals, juices, fruit, etc, low-carb items such as cheese, ham, and eggs were available. A computer with free internet access (in the public lounge) was a pleasant surprize. The staff was very competent and helpful. They booked us to the Borghese Museum. I also appreciated their advice on mobile phone purchase and many small issues. I would definitely stay in Cesari next time.

How to reach Cesàri Hotel

By car
Rome's city-centre is easily accessed via the Grande Raccordo Anulare which is connected to all the main highways; follow the directions from any point of the Raccordo to the Centro. However, keep in mind that in a large section of the historic centre, or Centro Storico, private cars are not allowed. Moreover, parking is metered in much of the city and available spaces are limited and difficult to find, therefore it is strongly recommended that you drive in Rome only when it is absolutely necessary.

By train
The hotel is very well-connected by public transport. The closest subway stations are Barberini on the A Line and Colosseo on the B Line. However, the easiest way to reach the hotel from the Roma Termini railway station is to take bus number 175 in the direction of Partigiani, and get off around nine stops later at the Corso-Minghetti stop.

By airplane
The Roma Fiumicino airport is about 30 km from the hotel and is well connected to the city by highway and express train service.
