The position of the hotel is outstanding: it is n a street connecting via del babuino and Via del Corso. The hotel is one min walk from piazza del popolo and one min walk from piazza di Spagna. The hotel is very clean, and nice. Our room was excellent. It was at 4th floor, whereas the lift arrive at 3rd floor, but for us it was not a problem. The room was not enormous, but we had no problems. OF course, if you are two giants and if you carry with you two enormous american-style luggages, the room may appear small... We were very happy with our staying there: it was an outstanding (and unexpensive) holiday in the most beautiful city of the western world !

Better than I expected-excellent location-within walking distance of almost all sights. Right off popular shopping street & within 2 streets of piazza populo. Plenty of restaurants around. Room very small but enough room for luggage. Cozy sitting area right outside room #16. Very comfortable bed and pillow. Good reading light. Very clean. Room very quiet but street noise starts early in morning. Good continental breakfast-very nice dining area. Would have liked coffee machine and water machine available at all times and not just breakfast. Would heartily recommend to all and would return ourselves.

Two great reasons to stay at Centrale are the staff and the location. Francesca, the manager, went out of her way to welcome us, assisted by her able staff--GianPiero, Giovanni, and Donato, who arranged taxis, dinner reservations, and just made us feel so at home. So much to do in the area and lots of trattorias as well as fancy places for the occasional splurge. We'd book Centrale again, treating ourselves to a superior room and bigger bath. See you again, Centrale!

Rooms are very clean and nicely appointed. However, if your room is on the 4th floor, then be prepared to haul your luggage up a flight of stairs yourself. The elevator stops at the third floor.

On the first use (at arrival) of the room card ir broken (probably because it was very used already); went to the reception to alert them and change card. On the check out I knew I had to pay 5 euros for the card: a very rude attitude, speccialy because I used it with care. Not a proper attitude of an hotel. Not the way to captivate clients. During all the for nigths we've stayed, the light near the bed wasn.t working even after someone went there top repair it. On the bathroom, the water from shower, was always falling (drops falling).

We stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon in September. The staff were all very nice and helpful and the location was just what we were looking for. Our room was on the 5th floor and the elevator only went up to the 4th, but we didn't mind that considering we had backpacks, not big suitcases. We had a large terrace with a table and chairs which was perfect for having a glass of wine and a smoke. Breakfast was included which was great - options of cereal, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, and delicious cappuccino. The only negative thing was that our bed was two twin beds pushed together. Not exactly ideal for a honeymoon. However we really enjoyed our stay here and would return.

This 21-room, boutique hotel is ideally situated just five minutes from the Spanish Steps and less than a minute from the Plaza de Poppolo. My wife and I always familarize ourselves with the staff and this multilingual team was very friendly and outgoing; knowledgeable and ready to lend a helping hand, as well as to have a chat if they are not busy. This hotel may not be for you if you want spacious rooms and baths, but we found our accommodation comfortable and adjusted to the bath/sink/shower configuration, preferring the hotel's quality staff, location and very good price to the more impersonal, more expensive and larger U.S.-style hotels. The breakfast room is well-stocked each day with fresh rolls and pastry, cold cuts, yogurt, coffee and cappuccino, fresh fruit and cereal. Refurbished in the last few years, the hotel has marble floors, an (small) elevator, free high-speed Internet access and a 24-hour front desk. We can't speak highly enough of our experience at this property and of the staff, too. If you are friendly, this will be like a second home while you are in Rome.

We have visited Italy many times to visit friends, family or just enjoy the beauty, food, shopping, people and culture. We have not spent much time in Rome so we chose this hotel for its location (near the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and shops) and were not disappointed. The hotel staff was very friendly and then main entrace was small but well done. Our room was definately one of the smallest we've stayed in during any of our visits to Italy (even when compared to Venice) but that was not a problem for us since our main desire was to get out and enjoy the sites and food! And for that you cannot beat this location!

We stayed at Centrale twice during our 16-day trip to Italy - four days at the beginning and one day at the end. Prior to our arrival, the staff contacted us to arrange airport transportation. This service was excellent. The driver actually waited an extra two hours for us as we worked through issues regarding lost baggage. The staff at Centrale stayed on top of our missing baggage by placing follow up inquiries with the airport. We had simple but very nice rooms during our first stay and were treated to 4th floor suites on our final night. The only negative of our stay was a party one night at a flat next to the hotel. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything the hotel staff could do about that. Without hesitation, we would stay at Hotel Centrale again and recommend it to others.

The staff was wonderful the room was very nice, just wished the shower was just a little bit bigger & you could open the windows without it triggering the electricity issue in the room. (Where the room key needs to be in a slot in the room to activate the air, TV, etc - took a little getting used to.)

Regarding earlier complaints about the skimpy breakfasts: the Hotel Centrale has expanded their breakfast buffet to include cold meats (but no cheeses), as well as fruit, cereal, yogurt, and regular rolls as well as pastries and coffee. My wife and I liked this place. The location was safe and convenient (just a 5 minute walk from the Flaminio metro station, a quick ride from Termini), the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and the room tiny in the typical Roman way but super clean and cozy. Our only complaint was the thinness of the walls. We had a German couple in the room next to ours and we could hear EVERYthing they did and said, which was a bummer as they went to bed late and got up early. Oh well!

We were very lucky to have found this hotel. The Centrale is indeed CENTRAL to the major areas and all within walking distance to most beautiful attractions, or where you can pick up transportation to sight see. The hotel is well appointed and well maintained. The staff were all pleasant and speaks English enough to accommodate any guest's questions. The breakfast buffet was delicious: Rolls, salami, juices, coffee, hot chocolate, cereal, yogurts, pastries, toast, etc. much more than your standard fare. There's even an additional perk which is sometimes rare in Italian hotels. It's called an ELEVATOR. Small but very useful with luggage - though you may have to make more than one trip if you have lots of luggage. TWO THUMBS UP from us, and we do travel quite a bit.

Knowing that Roman Hotel rooms can be small we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, although the Shower in one was little on the "short" side for a 6'5" man ! Location was excelent and the staff very helpful and courteous. The only downside was the soundproofing in the rooms, not from street noise, but from Room to Room, a loud laugh would invite a call from reception to "keep the noise down". Our second visit to Rome was a really memorable one, this was due in part to the location and quality of the Hotel Centrale. We found it to be exactly as discribed in the net publicity. From the pre-booking of our taxi from on our arrival at LDV airport to advice on good resturants the hotel staff could not have been more helpful. While our room was small it was extremely cleam and will maintained - we were pleasantly surprised to have our bed linen changed 3 times during our 8 day stay. We had access to a small roof garden (shared with one other room. This was fortuitous given that we had such good weather for October. We look forward to returning to Rome and to the Hotel Centrale

We were delighted with our choice of Hotel Centrale. After a long flight and an outrageous rip-off by the cab driver from the airport, we were welcomed by Eric, the most competent, gracious and helpful front desk clerk we have ever experienced in Italy. We arrived at 10:00 am and knew that our room would not be available until 2:00 pm. He recommended that we have breakfast and he would attempt to have our room cleaned and available as soon as the occupants checked out. When we returned at 11:30 our room was ready. It was clean, adequate in size and the quietest room in town! Later that day, our room key would not work and we met Francesca, the Manager, and Max, who was the afternoon and evening desk receptionist. They were experiencing some computer problems and gave us their key to use until they could make us a new key. As soon as the computer problems were fixed we had a new key, but they told us to keep their key as well so that if we had any problems with the new key, we could get into our room day or night. We felt like we were at home during our stay. When it was time to depart, Eric suggested that we use the hotel limo to the airport (the cost of which was about 50 euros) a savings over the highway robbery we experience from the government "approved" cab driver on our arrival in Rome (67 euros). The limo ride was an affordable dream instead of the hellish nightmare ride from the airport. Thank you Eric, Francesca and Max for makeing our stay in Bella Roma so memorable!

The Hotel is in a great location that is only 5 minutes from the metro near Plaza del Popolo and has the 116, and 117 bus stop one block away. The Spanish steps are also just 10 minutes away. The hotel is on a very small side street off of a main street on each side. There was some street noise at night from the sirens on the other streets and from teenagers who would sit outside the clothing store next door but would leave before it got too late. Everyone spoke English and the front desk is right at the front door so you are always greeted when you come in. They were always willing to give directions and provided a map to help you get there. Rooms were very clean and the breakfast was decent especially if you like chocolate filled pastries and other pastries. They also had cereal and yogurt There is a little market next door that you can buy a large bottle of water for just 1 euro and also sells cheese and meat by the pound if you want to add some protein to breakfast. A good basic restaurant a block away at 515 Via Del Corso is Taverna Del Corso. The prices were reasonable and the food was good but nothing fancy. The gelato shop next to it was very good. Our double room was adequate in size with a 3 foot by 3 foot shower. We were told our room had an extension, but it was really just an area a desk could fit in. My father's room was a single room and was very small with a tiny shower. Via Del Corso closes after 5 to traffic so it is a great place to walk to shop and eat. Via Condoti is just off the Corso and is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel and has Gucci and all the other designer brands to look at. Stores close at 7:00 on weekdays. This is a very nice hotel that is clean and just remodeled in November 2007. The price is very reasonable because it is new so book this hotel before they raise their prices.

I was so happy to find this Hotel that I have been telling my friends about it. I have travelled to Rome on several ocassions but this time i was travelling with my niece for her first visit to Rome. The location of Hotel Centrale is ideal for those who want to be in the centre - we went round on foot. The Hotel is small and the rooms have just been refurbished. I was amazed that the guest toiletries are those for a 4/5 star including disposable slippers. The staff on the reception were very helpful and even the manageress had time to speak to us I have no hesitation to recommend this Hotel .

Smallish, recently renewed, clean hotel, reasonable sized room, big bathroom, friendly staff. Breakfast a bit "too continental" (cookies, sweets). The only problem we experienced was related to our arriving too early: the staff was a bit rigid with the check-in time, though the hotel was evidently not full. The surroundings are great, roughly halfway between Pzza di Spagna and Pzza del Popolo).

Hotel is located in a small street between Via Corso with all high-street clothes for general public and one between Spanish Stairs and Piazza de Poppolo (no, I don't mean Via Condotti) with items for millionaires. All major tourist attractions are within a walking distance (well, it would take about 40min. to reach Colloseum on the other side of historical centre) and for longer trips the underground station is just behind Piazza de Poppolo. We were upgraged from a superior room (don't know why) to one, I suppose, de luxe room at the top floor with a terrace and a view to Borghese gardens and it was marvellous. Of course, a "minimalistic" breakfast may be a morning shock for a traveller from Northern/Central Europe used to more substantial diet but this does not matter when one is surrounded by all cafeterias of Rome (though one may need to be aware of what can get for that price in Rome). We haven't checked the Internet connection in our room because, at first, we thought it was supposed to be wireless (it wasn't). Cannot comment the aircondition because we were in February. Overall, very nice hotel (and fresh new and clean what, believe me, is a very important feature for Italian 3-stars that should be appreciated).

Hotel Centrale is very well located. The hotel has been renewed in October 2007 so it s very clean and new. The rooms are relatively small but considering the fact that you are in the Heart of Rome it is acceptable. The price is competitive for what you get and the breakfast is nice. The Hotel location is perfect for both Shopping and Sightseeing. Also right in front of the Hotel ''Pizza al taglio'' fast food is fabulous. I also recommend BUCCONE close by for a nice glass of wine and dinner on fridays and saturdays
