The room we got was incredibly small. 2 people could not stand together in the bathroom. The centralized heating system worked only a few hours per day. It was freezing at night. Blankets are old and thin. The staff is unable to provide any extra service apart from basic receptionist work. Room cleaners work early in the morning with no regard for noise or disturbance. Breakfast is poor and the breakfast room is tiny. The window was facing a minuscule internal court and when opened we could smell someone else's kitchen or toilets.

Great location! Our experience (my girlfriend and I) was pleasant. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. 24 hour desk was helpful as we went out quite late one night. Room was clean although the bed was too soft for my liking but my girlfriend was satisfied. Overall very happy with our stay.

The service at Carravaggio was wonderful, the kind lady escorted us to our room and arranged a dinner booking for us at a lovely near by restaurant named Cotto where we received complimentary welcome drinks. Breakfast was included in the standard room package and the waitresses were very friendly and welcoming. Everything was within walking distance of the hotel. The only downfall with our room was that the Tv stations were broken and only one channel worked, but that didnt really bother us anyway. Overall great little hotel.

We had a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and nicely decorated and the location is very convenient to many Rome attractions. The bathroom could use some updating. The tub you have to step over to get in the shower is very high, which could be a problem for some.

My husband and I were in Rome for vacation. I picked Caravaggio based on location, price and user reviews. The room was very small, but we didn't spend much time there. The bed was VERY hard, but didn't bother us too much. The bathroom was quite small as most are in Italy. We had a very pleasant stay and the 24 hour front desk was very helpful.

It was a St. Valentine´s day when I arrived at the Hotel Caravaggio. In my room there were some small presents for this occasion. I think this hotel takes really care on the guests. The room was fit up perfectly, everything worked well (TV, heating, bathroom), the service was perfect (wake up call on time, rich breakfast in nice breakfastroom, booking of tickets for Borghese Gallery and table reservation in my favorite restaurant). They sell the tickets for the public transport too, so you do not need to loose your time. I wery appreciated the possibility to use the pc with a free wi-fi connection. In the evening you can relax during the happy hour snack offered on the reception, you can borrow some book from their rich library. I will sure come back one day because here I have found the perfect accommodation and service for the right price, directly in the historical centre of this beautiful city.

We asked the hotel staff to meake a reservation for dinner at La Pergola, two days after when we went to La Pergola at Hotel Cavalliere now one had made a reservation. They phoned to our hotel but no one knew anything, very embarising for us. Took us long time and cost us a lot of money for nothing.

I've stayed just one night, but we were really happy to stay there. Since we arrived at the hotel the staff welcomed us with smile and we were informed everything that we wanted to know about Rome. The location is very good, walking distance to almost important sightseeing points and to the Termini station. We were invited also to the "happy hour" with some snacks, drinks, aperitifs in the evening at the reception (how beautiful it is.) during that we relaxed as we were at home talking with the hotel staff like a friend. The morning after we were served very delicious cappuccinos and fresh croissants by the getle young lady. we were sorry to leave that lovely place after one night. We are sure to go back to Hotel Caravaggio and recommend it to everybody who will go to Rome.

The hotel was a very convenient place to stay. At the reception alone they’ve provided me already a detailed city map with road index and metro lines table and the receptionist was well prepared in explaining to me how to reach easily all the places I wished to visit. The room welcomed me with its nicely decorated wall, flat TV with channels availble in different languages such as english, french, spanish, german and italian. The bathroom provides a complete comfort too, towels were briliant white and there was a shampoo, soap, shower cup, hairdryer, too. Most importantly, the room is very quite, suitable for those who would like to spend their vacation resting. On my check-out time, since i’d still had some time to go around before my departure, I could even deposit my luggage after checkingout, for all the day and free of charge! I can say that they do they work professionally where they have given me a five star treatment for a three star hotel price!

I am an American who lives in Rome, but needed to be out of my apartment for a week. For a single person staying alone I recommend the Caravaggio. My room had a small terrace and plenty of space for my things, and it had clearly recently been renovated. There was one small thing, which was that the shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor in a very mysterious and peculiar way (when the shower was on there was a leak from another corner of the bathroom). The manager said that he would look into it. I imagine that it was a result of the room being brand new, as all of the rooms on my floor were. I have mentioned noise above, and although isolated from the street I could hear my neighbors snoring. It was very conveniently located in terms of where I needed to go, although the area is very touristy, and so it is hard to find quality/authentic food without a bit of a walk. I have compromised by putting an "8" for "surroundings" above, as I am well aware that someone who was actually a tourist might find the location more suited to their needs. All in all, I was very pleased with my stay at the Caravaggio, and I would stay there again.

Sir/Madam First I thought we had booked for three roooms, but was told on arrival that we had actually booked four. This is possible, and I did not check the confirmation sent out to me so I must assume some of the blame for this. Secondly, there was a dirty ashtray left in our room. Not major I know, but you don't expect to see it in a "fresh" room. Thirdly, there was no remote control for the TV in our room. Dissapointing, but not crucial. Fourthly, the hotel did not take credit cards. As I booked and reserved the rooms via the internet and a credit card number was taken as surety I was most upset to know that when I came to pay the bill I then had to go back in to the streets to find a bank from which I could withdraw 640 Euros. A good job my bank is understanding. Fifth, on entering the shower parts of the door frame fell off. I was assured it was fixed but the same thing kept happening. Sixthly only two of the five light bulbs worked. These were replaced in short order. We were told by the concierge that they would try to let the "overbooked" room during the weekend so that we would not have to pay for it. On the evening of our arrival I overheard one of the newly arrived guests announce that they had come for the "cancelled" room. On checking out we were still charged for the extra room. As we were then asked to pay in cash it was suspicious. I have no proof and I am not making any allegations but looking at it from an objective point of view it does appear to raise questions. In all the hotel is OK, small rooms and small dining area and it is on the first floor so there is a flight of steps to contend with each visit or a small cranky lift that accommodates 1 person and a suitcase. Otherwise be prepared to get some exercise!

The web site description of this hotel, in relation to the actual property is false! It appeared to be a hostel, a bad hostel! There is no lobby, no dining, no wine store, nothing!! Disgusting dirty old men who were pretending to run what they call a hotel! We stayed one night in our cigarette burned bed and left as fast as we could the very next morning and found other accomodations. This is the first time we used Venere.com and will promise to never do so again. Please remove this hotel from your website, It would be a great shame if anyone else should travel to such a beautiful city such as Rome to be subjected to this place!

The hotel was fine. It is more like a home-hotel than a real hotel. You have to leave the key when you go out, but there is always someone to open the front door even late. The rooms are not super big, but it's Rome and everything is small there, so no surprise. The hotel was clean. The rooms are fairly quiet as it is not on a very busy street, but you can hear outside and even the neighbors, but it was not an issue for us.

Our room was close to the reception area and as there was no curfew throughout the night we would hear the doorbell ring and then a sharp buzzing noise when the receptionist activated the remote door opener. We did try to close the fire door between our room and the reception area to suppress noise levels but people kept leaving it open. So we did not sleep well the whole 3 day stay. Apart from this the room was quite large and clean, bathroom was fine and hotel staff helpful. Breakfast was also pretty good for an Italian hotel. So I would recommend but make sure you're not placed on the same level as the reception (1st floor).

We were disapointed by the hotel. It did not appear to be 3 star as advertised. There is a common entrance into the building of which the 'hotel' appears to be a small section. The cleaner forgot the broom in our room on one occasion. The rooms were not as shown in the photographs. Breakfast is meant to start at 7.30, but was not ready till 8.00 on the only day we were to leave early. We did not feel we got the worth of what we paid. The payment was taken on arrival!! We plan to write to the Italian Tourism to highlight these points.

I recently stayed in this hotel, and I would not stay here again. The hotel itself was ok. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was moderate, and the AC was very good, but the location was terrible. You have to buzz the hotel to let you in the door, then you have to go up a flight of stairs (or take the world's smallest elevator) to the second floor to check in. The hotel isn't near any of the major sites, and is a little bit of a walk to the closest metro. For my next trip to Rome, I would definitely stay in a hotel which is much closer to the "action" in rome, and get away from the Termini area. The hotel is too expensive for it's location, so I will stay elsewhere next time. Just my 2 cents.

We were fine with our stay at the Caravaggio in Rome June of 2002 but we were recently charged for a hotel room in February 2003 that we never even stayed in. It is currently being disputed with American Express because we haven't left the United States since last year. I am hoping this is a mistake on the part of the hotel and that they are not trying to take advantage of us and mis-using our credit card number to supplement their income.

Under no circumstances would I consider this a 3 star hotel. The price was reasonable and location good, everything else was disappointing. There was no laundry / pressing service and an iron was refused me. Breakfast was poor. All ingredients were of the cheapest quality, not very nice. The maid did a good job, no problems there. And when I checked out it was relatively rude, just a matter of getting my money. At best, this was a 2 star hotel. I would hav no issue spending more money for a proper 3 star hotel - this place was greatly oversold.

The Hotel Caravaggio is a quaint hotel with an excellent price and location. It was convenient (walking distance) to many of Rome's sights including The Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and train station. It is located on a quite street yet one block from Via Nationale which included banks, stores and restaurants. Within a one week period in March 2002 we stayed two separate times. The first stay we had a nice large room with windows onto the main street. The second time we stayed the room was much smaller and the bathroom was tiny. But overall atmosphere made up for any inconvenience. The staff was cheerful, the breakfast pleasant and the rooms comfortable. I would stay at the Caravaggio again and recommend it. As a matter of fact, I did recommend it to four other friends who stayed in Rome and they enjoyed the stay as well.We were a group of gay friends (male and female) and we felt comfortable with the mix of clientele. Staff very friendly and helpful. There may be other lovely rooms in the hotel but our room was not nice (room 102). 1 very small window looking out onto a dingy back yard.Breakfast absolutely disgraceful - everyone crammed into a tiny dark room, the waitress has to wash the dishes for breakfast in a sink in the same room, no room for a dish washer, no room for anything in fact. There is a big beautiful Centre area near the bedrooms - I suggest the owner invests some money in turning this into the breakfast area even if it means turning one of the bedrooms into a kitchen.
