Compared to other hotels we have stayed at, with our kids,in Paris, London or Madrid, of the same range, this is by far the best! Nice 5 star details like robes and slippers in the beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms. Exceptionally well located, great breakfast, superb personal attention. If we ever go back to Rome, we would stay in this hotel without a doubt.

Capo d'Africa is a great hotel to stay at. The room more than met our expectations and the staff was ready and willing to help in any way possible. This hotel is near the Colosseum and a Metro station (5 blocks). The IL Bocconcino is an execellant (not fancy) resturant about 2 blocks form the hotel. We would stay at the Capo d'Africa again.

We had the Roomnumber 105.!!!Below our window, there was/is a Metalldoor for personal. At the first day after our afternoonrest I told the Reception-Manager about the noise. But the next mornings and afternoons, we must interrupted, though (we had tested)it is possible to close this door silently.

An excellent stay at Capo D'Africo, we had a good room at corner of hotel, the only problem was the bin lorry collecting bottles (underneath our room) early morning, we were awake so it wasn't too much of a problem. The roof top terrace was beautiful and a real plus for the hotel, fantastic views, although we could only sit out for breakfast one morning as they were painting it the other two mornings (just unlucky !) The staff at breakfast, the bar downstairs and reception were all excellent, friendly and fun. The hotel is next door to the Colosseum, and many other Roman attractions but 20 mins walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, we quite enjoyed arriving back to our peaceful haven after a busy day of sight-seeing, and relaxing on the roof terrace with a drink ! The hotel staff will recommend restaurants very close to the hotel, they were all great value and the meals were excellent. Would definitely go and stay at Capo D'Africa again and recommend to friends.

This was our first time in Rome. We picked this hotel due to its ratings and location. (we met our tour guide at the Coloseum) We were not dissapointed. Our only negative comment would be there is not a lot of shopping or restaurants close by. We took the taxi (or walked) to Spanish Steps, Treve Fountain area to eat and shop. Breakfast was also very nice.

We stayed at Capo d'Africa Hotel for four nights. We found the front desk staff very helpful- they made a booking for Villa Borghese Gallery for us and happily called taxis and provided restaurant tips. The 4th floor terrace was a wonderful spot for breakfast. Cheerful, polite and accommodating waiting staff at breakfast. Convenient to Coloseum and Forum.

A lovely hotel, with modern design tastefully done. Friendly helpful staff always say hello with a smile making you feel welcome. Fabulous breakfasts and a roof top terrace on which to end an evening with a chilled drink. Well located for little local restaurants and the Forum and the Colosseum.

Very enjoyable stay. Hotel is well managed, friendly and professional. Ideal location for those that want "convenience" yet authenticity. Neighborhood feels "local" with plenty of small, family style restaurants as well as more upscale fare. Nice to eat out in Rome surrounded by Romans and NOT your neighbor from Peoria! Yet Colosseo is a quick 5 minute walk and Metro less than 10 minutes!

This was our first vacation in Rome. We were very pleased with the professional service at the reception desk upon our arrival from an overnight flight from Canada. The room was available to us immediately. It was clean with a great (hot) shower and included red slippers with terry cloth robe (nice!). The location was close to all of the major sites which made walking easier (we did not need to use taxis). The buffet breakfast was excellent! You could eat either inside or on a lovely terrace with a view of the Colosseum. There are many nearby restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed dining at the Le Naumachie which was closeby and served good food. We stayed at Capo d'Africa for three nights and returned later from Florence for another two nights before our return flight home. We highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel for anyone wanting a central location in Rome with accommodations that are trendy (lobby), professional service and a great breakfast to start your adventures.

This was a lovely contemporary hotel in a quiet area but convenient locality for sightseeing. There were plenty of restaurants nearby. Although there was a slight mix up with our booking on arrival, it was quickly resolved and we were upgraded at no extra cost to a suite with a terrace for our 2 night stay which was wonderful.Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.

Our stay at the Hotel Capo D'Africa was excellent. Before arriving, I mentioned to staff that the purpose of our trip to Rome was that I was going to propose to my girlfriend. The hotel then upgraded us, free of charge, to an amazing suite with a private terrace overlooking the Coliseum. It was fabulous. Even without the upgrade, the stay would have been great. The hotel is very stylish, with a nice boutique feel. The location is second to none, with many great restaurants and bars nearby, and the Coliseum a short walk away. The rooms are very well appointed, and the staff very friendly and professional. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We booked a superior room to celebrate a 'significant' birthday & we were not disappointed in either the hotel or the room. The hotel lived up to all expectations. Very helpful front desk for recommending tours and restaurants. I appreciate it is the 'luck of the draw' but our tour guide for our Vatican City tour with Vastours was a lecturer in Christian archeology & her knowledge was extensive without being boring! It made the tour memorable! Although there were no hot dishes included with the breakfast buffet, the selection of fruit, cereals, yoghourts, cold meats, cheese, rolls and pastries was extensive and the staff in the breakfast room were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay at the Capo D'Africa again & would recommend the hotel to anyone who wanted a hotel in a quieter location but which was still close to the major attractions.

Great location. View of the Colosseum along with breakfast in the morning. Close to a Metro stop, making it easy to get to most of the other major attractions in Rome. Extremely close to the church of San Clemente, which is a MUST see. Excellent service, particularly the breakfast staff. Large rooms and bathrooms. Internet access available in the room was very convenient.

Hotel Capo d'Africa is very well kept and in a decent location. The Hotel is very close (4 blocks) from the Colosseum, but very much hidden off in the back streets (somewhat hard to find). Upon arrival we found the reception of the staff to be quite welcoming, but that was not the experience throughout the stay. Some reception staff treated us more like a transaction rather than a guest. The breakfast was good and the staff in the dining area were very friendly. The housekeeping personnel were great. The most striking (disappointment) was the poor consistency in water temperature. The shower was never hot, usually cold or luke-warm, sometimes scolding hot, but always fluctuating. This seemed unacceptable for the price and overshadowed the qualities of other amenities.

A truly excellent hotel with a very friendly, attentive staff, beautiful accomodations and close proximity to key ancient Roman artifacts. The breakfast buffet was very extensive for a European Hotel, including everything that I would expect. The neighborhood around the hotel has several nice local restaurants, as well as several places to get gelato - which turned out to really be a great thing about Italy. Also very convenient to buses and the metro, in order to get around the city.

Leaving the hotel, I've asked to print a document from the Internet (the boarding pass for my return flight): they told me that was a problem and to use an Internet point, walking distance from the hotel. 600 and plus euros, and I can't print a page?!

This was our first visit to Rome. We chose the Capo d'Africa because it scored high on the Venere ratings. It did not disappoint. The staff were very happy to recomend local resturaunts which were excellent, and they were very helpful in every way. The breakfast service and location, on the terrace, was superb. The hotel is in a very quiet street, but really handy for getting about. The barman was great, he absolutley loved himself. Rome is a fantastic city, stay at the Capo d'Africa and you wont be disappointed. Two very small points to notr, there are no tea or coffee making facilities, and there are only 2 English speaking channels on TV Sky News and CNN.(with out paying extra)

Very nice hotel with great grounds and great staff. However for the price would stay at another hotel next time. The bathrooms were nice but small. Left the room at 8am and got back at 4pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned yet. The rooms are very minimalistic and there is only one computer for guests to use. Breakfast is probably one of the best in Italy.

The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful - certainly rates with the best hotels that i have stayed in. Offers excellent value for money & a great base for ancient Rome. My only criticism is that the gym was small & due to private training taking place (the times of which we were unaware of) you felt obliged to come off equipment before you were ready to - if we had known the times in advance we could have planned accordingly.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in January 2007 to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We travelled with Ryanair and booked the Terravision coach(14 euros return each) from Ciampino to the Termini and then got the Metro to the Colisseum( only 2 stops on the blue line). The hotel was a 10 minute walk away. The Reception staff were very welcoming and we were taken to our room and had all of the facilities explained by another cheerful member of staff. We found the room to be excellent in terms of cleanliness and comfort with complimentary bathrobes and slippers being provided. My only complaint about the room would be the lack of tea/coffee making facilities although there was a minibar available but at a cost. The breakfasts were continental with everything fresh and a great selection of food. We ate locally for the 4 nights we were there and found a very pleasant restaurant recommended by the hotel which was just a round the corner called La Naumarchie where you could get a fillet steak for 17 euros. We also found a wine bar close by in Via Ostilia called Divin Ostilia Wine Bar which had a really relaxed atmosphere and a wide and varied selection of wines starting from 16 euros upwards and the staff there were really friendly and knowledgable. All in all a great experience.

Great location about 3 blocks from the Colisseum, Forum and Metro stop. Our room was very large by Rome or American standards & quiet enough that we slept with balcony door open. Rooms and public area were extremely clean. Staff was very helpful, friendly, competent and professional. Can't say enough good things about the staff! Breakfast was included and very good-extra coffee given willingly upon request. Rooftop breakfast terrace would be great in other seasons. Hotel had a very quiet lobby bar that we did not use, but lady bartender was very friendly. A small pizza bar (Tree People?} located about 1 block away, frequented by locals has large selection of cold draft beers, made to request pizza, American music and friendly locals/staff was a fun spot for my 22 yr old daughter and me after a day of sightseeing. Numerous restaurants located in general area. I'd definitely stay at Capo d'Africa again.

This was our second long weekend in Rome, the previous visit having stayed in a similarly priced yet far inferior hotel. The hotel is spotless, fresh, spacious and with a fantastic roof terrace that you can lounge on and drink cocktails after a hard days exploring. The breakfast was great, typical continental style but abundant and served on the terrace (if you're lucky you'll nab one of the tables overlooking the Colosseum). The reception staff are great, they all seem to be multilingual and can arrange just about anything for you. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk away from the Piazza Navona/Spanish Steps, but the walk is great, straight past the Forum and Colosseum. The bedrooms are very clean and spacious, with very fresh bed linen and lovely marble bathrooms. I did change my reservation from "Double Superior" to "Double Delux" at €20 extra per night and am not sure I gained anything extra, but beyond that, everything was fantastic.

We had a wonderful time on the first 4 nights of our honeymon and would go back to Rome and the hotel without a single doubt. Capo D'Africa is an exceptional hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The rooms are modern, airy, spacious and very clean. The breakfast options allow for variety and the room service food, although a little pricy, was of a high standard. The roof terrace is a must on a warm night as it's candlelit and they play excellent music. A great place to start and/or end your evening out in Rome. The location at Capo is brilliant for Ancient Rome and only a short distance from everywhere else. Taxis were reasonable and reliable. Ask the hotel to book them for you. Also use the hotel's restaurant reccommmendations as we had some lovely meals away from the most touristy streets.

Rome and Capo D'Africa was the first destination on a two week trip through Italy that included several fine hotels which were booked after extensive research for high quality at fair cost. Capo D'Africa was the best of them all, and a truly mememorable experience. Beautifully designed to combine old world elegance with a hip flair and 21st century fascilities, my husband and I with our two teenage sons could not have been more comfortable. Level of service was of five star quality, offered up with unpretentious ease by a knowledgable and gracious staff. Breakfast, which seems to be an issue with other hotels in Rome, was unfaultable - with the best cappacino we had anywhere in Italy and beautiful rooftop location. Also, we found the location to be a real asset. Rome's a big place, yet every district was reachable on foot when we wanted it to be. Also, because of it's proximity to the coloseum and accessiblity to roads, taxis were always available within moments of a request. Each day we felt liked we returned to an oasis. This will definitely be our hotel of choice when in Rome again.

Absolutely top class hotel with probably the most caring and attentive staff I have encountered. No hesitation in recommending it to everyone. It's not especially cheap but considering what you sometimes get for the same price (or even more) it is great value.
