I stayed in Rome for four days, for leisure, and was very satisfied with the Camelia hotel. Thought it is not in the historic center of the city, it is only a short walk from the train station, metro lines A and B, and many buses. As a woman on her own, I felt completely safe walking back to the hotel in the late evening. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast includes eggs and ham (a plus value in Europe!) Definitely a good choice!

It is a nice and cosy hotel. Near the Termini but needs to take more than 18 minutes walk for me. It was quite tough especially walking under the high bright sun in summer. The room is clean but a bit noisy due to some drainage sounds from the bathroom. The receptionists were helpful, especially Stepheno who was friendly and offered kind assistance when I needed help. Good breakfast. Overall , a nice hotel.

Rooms were reasonable size for Rome. Very clean and tidy with a nice bathroom. Double glazed and quiet. Firm but comfortable bed. The breakfast was average, the staff very welcoming and helpful. We were able to store a suitcase there while we went away for 5 days. We chose this hotel as it looked to have easy access to the Roma Termini train station and it is an easy 10 minute walk with wheeled luggage (cobbled paths). The Metro ,either line, is a 10 minute walk as well. Not sure what buses go past. Area average, didn't encounter any problems. Good hotel, close to station, metro to the sights. Would recommend as a good hotel in its class.

The room was very clean. Location is near the station of reppublica. When we arrived, the hotel staff kindly gived the explanation how to reach the major sight seeing spot. The map which hotel provides was more useful rather than any guidebook. We are sutisfied with this hotel until we checked out. At the checking out, the hotel reception said that the train to airport stops and recommend their house taxi, but there was no such train trouble.

We were at Hotel Camelia for six nights, on holiday. It is a busy, high quality hotel with very good staff and overall it was excellent value. We would certainly recommend it. The breakfast was better and our room was larger than other Roman hotels of this type/class that we’ve stayed in. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from Termini station, 5 with no luggage. You can walk to the main sites from the hotel but there's a bus to everywhere from in front of the station as well as the Metro in the station itself. We did walk to the Galleria Borghese which was a pleasant 20/25 minute stroll. The area around the Camelia is unremarkable but perfectly safe. The La Famiglia restaurant nearby in Via Gaeta is excellent, you should book at peak times. You don’t go to Rome to spend time in your hotel but you do want a place that’s clean, comfortable and secure, where the staff are friendly and professional, and which adds to your experience. The Hotel Camelia does all that.

Very good hotel at a reasonable price, compared to the average for Rome. Room very clean and well furnished, with many facilities (minibar, safety box...), even though slightly noisy: we could ear every sound of the shower/sink from the rooms next to ours. Free tea/coffee maker and internet connection in the lounge, both available at any time. Good bouffet breakfast with plenty of choice. Location fairly convenient, close enough to Termini station and not too far from the tube, about 10 min. Not a very picturesque area, but quite and safe.

The gracious front desk man (sorry, I forgot your name) told us to leave our bags and he would try to work things out and if not possible would find us accommodations close by. It is situated not far from all important places of interest and attractions and it's near Termini railway staion, and it's very convenient if you are going to visit some other places in Italy. The room we were given was not particularly spacious but very clean and sufficinetly furnished. Buffet-style breakfast was ample and delicious. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The only concern we had was that they kept luggage deposited by their guests after check-out in the lobby where ANYBODY could come in and casually pick up any piece of the luggage and leave. Spent 3 nights at Hotel Camelia. Arrived after 9 pm the 1st nite. Marco warmly greeted us. Looked forward to the complimentary breakfast daily - fresh fruit, freshly baked pastries, hard boiled egg, cereal, 2 kinds of juices, and Roberto can bring you one of 9 beverages - I loved the decaf cappucino. Room was cleaned meticulously. There is a tabacci shop around the corner to the right that sells postage stamps. Also right out of the front door and to the left you will come to a small open market which was a nice surprise. Found it on the last day as we would always go to the left to walk to the Termini Train Station. It was safe to walk back to the hotel even at 10:30 p.m. La Famiglia Restaurant and supermarket is one block left out of the hotel. One internet station was usually available to the left of the front desk. The last day we left our luggage & returned after dinner. Person at the front desk secured a taxi for us for 50 euros to take us to our next hotel close to the airport as we had an early flight the following morning.

I arrived disheveled after 21 hours of travel and was greeted by name as soon as I entered the hotel. Maybe the front desk clerk used a process of elimination of expected arrivals to guess my name. But somehow he guessed right. He made me feel welcome to a hotel which in my honest opinion is in the best location to walk to great sites, yet enjoy a taste of the real italy in the immediate vicinity.

We spent 3 days in Rome after 2 weeks in Italy. Hotel was excellent on all counts. Very near station, metro, buses, main sights. Large supermarket and good local restaurants nearby. Staff excellent - no problems at all checking in or with bill, and the breakfast was good. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was huge, there were loads of towels changed daily, the room was very quiet and the air conditioning was really efficient. The room and bathroom were perhaps on the small side, but had everything we needed. We reckon the hotel was a real find at a bargain price, and would recommend it to anyone.

Perfect for our overnight stay in Rome before flying out. On arrival the receptionist was less than helpful. She told us our room might not be ready, and let us cool our heels for about 15 minutes before making a call to see if the room was ready (it was). Hotel Camelia is well situated next to the Termini (train station), roughly a 10 minute walk. The hotel's location was ideal for us in that most of the tours originate from the Termini, very convenient for getting around Rome. We used the "Hop On Hop Off" bus service which brought us to all the major city sites. Also, there is a grocery store less than a 5 minute walk away. The rooms were extremely clean, very quiet. Many thanks to Gino at the front desk, a very friendly and helpful guy. Don't miss the restaurant nearby called Da Vincenzo. Amazing food and service.

I had a room on the top floor with no windows- very strange feeling! (The only window looked out into the interior hallway, so of course you had to keep the curtains closed.) The walls were also very thin so I could hear voices and the baby crying in the room nextdoor. It was modern and clean, ok for a quick overnight in Rome, but I wouldn't want to stay here for a long period of time.

Colazione ricca e personale molto gentile.

The air conditioning in the room was not very good. This was brought to the attention of the hotel staff and no steps were taken to correct the problem. This is a good hotel that was very clean, nicely furnished and had a nice breakfast.

Fantastic location, with a supermarket and numerous restaurants located very nearby in the surrounding streets. Whilst my single room was not large, it was OK for my stay of 4 days. The double bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious enough with a decent size shower. The only downside was that the window looked out onto an internal courtyard rather than the street but this was not a major problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a bonus was the free internet access available for guests. I would happily stay there again and recommend this hotel to friends

Hotel Camelia was perfect for our needs. We wanted someplace within easy walking distance of the train station and where we could relax, feel safe and have a good night's sleep after our flight into Rome and before traveling on to Umbria the next day. My husband had been pickpocketed as we were leaving the previous country so we needed a place to go that would allow us to relax and regroup. We stayed in a room on the top floor that was very up to date and tastefully decorated. It had no windows looking directly out, but a skylight window that was fun. We liked that because it gave a feeling of the outdoors without being in the middle of a big city and it offered us a feeling of security or cloistered-ness. The bathroom included a jacuzzi! With the lodging we received a substantial buffet breakfast that was served in a separate and pleasant dining area off the lobby. Breakfast was full with all sorts of travelers- young, old, small groups, families, couples and singles. There was an internet connection and computer at a desk in the lobby which really helped us in sorting out our credit cards and plans. There were several nearby dinner choices available. We chose one with an outdoor patio on the same block which gave us our first Italian meal at a reasonable price. It felt like we were just a little away from the bustle of American tourists right next to the station in our location. I would guess that we were about a 10-12 min. walk from the Central Train Station. We paid the same price for another hotel near the train station a week later, as we were leaving Italy, and we both liked this hotel better for its intimacy, breakfast, internet service and decor. I would recommend it without hesitation to my fellow travelers. The desk clerk was helpful with maps and the internet.

We arrived at Camelia on Friday night to be told we had to go to their 'sister' hotel, around the corner. needless to say alarm bells started ringing, after being offloaded to complete dumps during this process whilst travelling in asia. On the contrary, we were upgraded to a 4*, the Art Deco hotel. Only complaint is that they had the AirCon disabled, whilst it was unbearably hot - we were sleeping with the windows wide open, and still woke up sweating. Oh, and they insisted on changing the towels daily, despite the sign asking us to leave them on the ground if we wanted them changed, or hang them up if we'd reuse them (we always hung them up), to save the environment. This is a big issue in my opinion - why waste the cardboard for the sign otherwise.

Warning 1 - when I enquired about cancelling the last day of my stay, the employee refused to give me any answer but suggested instead that I call venere myself!!! As if I don't have better things to do during my short stay in Rome. Warning 2 - the site says there is an internet plug in the room, which turned out not to be true - only a public computer downstairs, occupied most of the time. The elevator did not work for 2 days, nor did the AC/heating. The breakfast ended at 10am - too early and the TV was switched off the same minute as I was watching (somewhat rude). The breakfast room was fairly uninspiring.

I will be staying here again, the Hotel is clean and modern, the staff are very helpful, and the location is good too. Termini is a very short walk, and busses stops practically on the doorstep. The area is VERY SAFE i read a couple of reviews when looking for a hotel and got the impression Termini was still a rough area, don't believe it. You will find people sleeping rough at the station itself, and will be compelled to give them something as they don't hassle you at all. There a couple of good restaurants if you hunt down the side streets "La Familgia" is excellent, and i think it was on the shortest route to Termini station, there is also a supermarket near by, and some inexpensive places to get your cappucino. My family are from further south, however now wish they were from Rome!

Hotel Camelia is a very good value for your money. We spent 5 days there, the hotel room was nicely decorated, clean, air-conditioned, the view was not considered to be fantastic but the windows closed up tight so noise was not noticeble at all. Rooms were cleaned up daily, bathroom was also nice, almost like in a 4star hotel. Service on breakfast was kind, everybody english-speaking and helpful. There was a computer at the lobby for free internet. We had to leave for the airport early at 5 am, they offered their own shuttle service which cost about 55 EUR, so quite expensive but as we heared, taxi serice is about the same. The shuttle service is a mini-bus (up to 8 persons) so in case of a bigger comany, it could be even cheaper than the Leonardo Express. Only negative comment: we asked for a breakfast box, which they haven`t prepared, only a few biscuits and yoghurt was offered at the last minute. The surroundings are not so nice (Termini station), but the hotel faces a police station.

Great hotel to stay in, very near to Metro and easy walking distance to city centre. Not very nice area to walk through at night between Termini and the hotel but very small area and can be avoided. Tiny problem but great overall stay.

space in room and bathroom was sufficient, confortable and ample double bed, cupboard and safe in the room, bathhub, good attention by kind staff, quiet ambient by good insulating windows. Only the buffet breakfast had low variety of food and almost no fresh fruit. Close to Termini, well communicatd, convenient restorants and shops very close.

Chose this place for two reasons, price and past reviews. Neither of these let me down by any means. We had a very nice stay, and the lady who greeted us at the front desk in the evening and again in the morning for breakfast was absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful. After we had checked in, we asked where she recommended going to get a light bite to eat. Wow! The restaurant around the corner was absolutely wonderful!!! Not exactly a $1.99 Super Value meal by any means, but worth every penny. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The only single drawback I could even think of is that the hotel does not have a computer set up for internet access. I do believe however that they have wireless access if you've brought your own laptop. I can't verify the latter, so probably ought to ask ahead if this is important to you because there aren't a lot of public access points in the town.

The hotel accomodations exceeded our expectations. All in our 3 generation family group were very pleased. The staff were all very polite and responsive. The breakfast selection was wonderful. The location was convenient and the staff assisted us in finding transportation and tours. Be sure to try the "New Family Restaurant" right around the corner. It was our best dining experience on the trip and at the most reasonable price especially if you choose the fixed price for 5 courses.

We stayed in Rome 4 days, but only two nights at Hotel Camelia, which was a much higher quality hotel than the other 3 star hotel we stayed in. Hotel Camelia caters for a range of clientele from couples - mature and younger to families and corporates. We have since given the information for this hotel to friends from New Zealand who will be in Rome in december.

I recently visited the Hotel Camelia and found it to be very nice and a great value. The rooms were very clean and although not huge, very comfortable ... exactly as pictured on Venere. Breakfast was basic but okay and the staff was very attentive. It has a very convenient location, approximately 4 blocks from Termini Station and about a 15 minute walk to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Originally, I contact the hotel directly for rates but found the rates on Venere to be much better. Overall, this hotel offers an excellent value as a solid 3 star property and I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel. Easy walk to train station, the metro, and sites such as Trevi Fountain. The room was a nice surprise. Actually included one large room and a small adjoining room with twin bed and TV. This would be perfect for a family. The staff was most gracious and allowed a very early check-in. Several good restaurants in the area and right next door to a small grocery. We will stay there again!

Chose this hotel for proximity to train for trip to airport on the way home, couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Newly renovated - top notch bathroom, beds, etc. Neighborhood had good restaurants, local markets, within walking distance to Via Veneto and Villa Borghese for a nice last-afternoon-in-Italy stroll. Free internet and totally fine breakfast.

The hotel Camelia surprised us very positively. We thought that, at the quoted price, we could just get a hardly acceptable hotel room, but Camelia was a delight.
