Hotel Barcelo Aran Mantegna - Rome

Eventhough the surroundings are not so inviting (residential/business area outside the city) the welcome was very warm and I felt well taken care of. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, spoke very good English. Breakfast was o.k. (small selection of meats and cheeses, bread and fruit). The restaurant is very good, but only open at night. So far no healthclub or spa available. The busconnection to the city is good or one can walk about 25 minutes to the closest Metro-station. For business I would stay there again, for exploring Rome it might not be the ideal place.

I think Aran Mantegna caters mostly people travelling for work. The building is nice and quite new, but a little expensive for the service they offer. The meeting rooms lack of comfortable chairs: in fact it's very difficult to sit properly and write notes. Breakfast doesn't match the 4 stars hotel standard.

This was my second time staying over at Aran and I really was surprised by what i came across; a receptionist that had problems in understanding the difference between a credit card and a debit card. She wouldnt bill us on the debit card. In the end we were FORCED to pay in CASH before our stay!?!?!?! Never have in my life unless if I paid willingly... Was a bad experience, even after paying its not like she changed her conduct!!! Bad bad bad. Hope I dont get to come across such staff in future. Aran is a beautiful hotel + the rooms are very good, that i can say... (The power cut in the morning??? Lets say accidents happens)

Have been staying at the Sheraton for the past 8 years but would consider staying here again, as it's cheaper. Would like clarity on when when the swimming pool will be ready, as the Sheraton already has a great pool/bar area.

L'Hotel sembra progettato da qualcuno che guarda solo a ciò che si fa notare per eccentricità, senza alcuna attenzione alla praticità (limitata in ogni aspetto, a partire dal personale della reception che appare assolutamente improvvisato). La localizzazione dell'hotel in una zona di scarso interesse turistico, lontano e mal collegato dal centro città (la spesa per taxi è stata notevole)

Really nice hotel as well as its pricing vs quality. We were quite surprised to find the rooms at those rates fr such a rating. Excellent rates. We were not all that satisfied with the cleanliness of the room which I think had JUST been left free some minutes before our check in??? It could have been much cleaner, but overall I would give it an 8 out of 10. Shame for the not so clean bathroom floor which had fresh stains ....

Hotel nuovissimo e bellissimo. Stanze confortevoli e pulite. La zona non è centralissima, ma tranquilla e ben accessibile.

The quality of the rooms is very high, if they maintain the actual rates the quality/price ratio is very good.

Nice hotel, but terrible service and rude staff

No value for money at all! Breakfast really poor and "industrial". Stay away!

They forget to mention that they are still building the hotel. The website says they have internet access a fitness center and a business center. On arrival I found all were unavailable. The fitness center will not even be available until spring 2008. The rooms themselves are lovely - The staff border on incompetent and unfriendly.
