I would definitely recommend Auditorium di Mecenate because the staff (especially Fabrizio!) was charming and helpful. The hotel was a convenient location with rooms that could be made dark and quiet at night thanks to shutters.

Some rooms may be better than others, but mine was something of a windowless cell too close to reception, which meant that I picked up the noise of almost any activity in the hotel. Rome hotel rooms seem to be small, but I stayed at another hotel for the same price and had a far better experience. The staff were friendly, however.

This place was really great. There are two women who staff the front desk, one in the am and one in the pm. They were SUPER helpful and went out of their way to make sure that we knew where we were going and what we wanted to do every day. The would map out a route for us every day and gave recommendations for things to do and places to eat. They really made our stay there even more wonderful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bathroom was very small with a very tiny shower. If you are more than 175 pounds you might not fit into it. The only complaint I have is the noise from the courtyard, which was where our window opened up to. If there are people out there you can hear them like they are sitting right next to you.

We were more than comfortable at Hotel Auditorium di Mecenate. The room was clean, modern, quiet and located in an excellent area of town near wonderful restaurants and shopping. We were served a nice breakfast and we were made to feel at home. The management(Toni)went out of their way to accommodate us and were most helpful in providing information about the city. The place was a bit hard to find and the elevator guy was a little grouchy but other than that we loved our little place. This is where we will stay again when we go back!

It's quite niose here because the room is toward the street.I can't sleep well. And there were dirty spots on the bedsheet. First morning the coffee machine was out of service, so we can not have coffee. The second night the shower machine waw out of service and we didn't have hot water to take a shower. And the plug base waw out of service, too.

Very well located, staff exceptionally helpful and friendly, clean enough, but… VERY noisy. Don't take a DeLuxe room, they are all facing the street and you'll not sleep the whole night: nonstop traffic of honking Italians (moreover windows do not close properly). Breakfast is served in the room, but you'll get only sweet cakes and biscuits, no egg, no sausage, no bacon. OK, accommodation in Rome is expensive, but for such a price (130 euros/night) one can expect a much higher standard (for that price, you can have a luxurious 4* hotel at Mala-Strana in Prague).

Wonderful reception staff, great location with short walk to bus, train and subway. Quite a bit of noise at night from adjacent properties.

We spent for nights in the hotel. The hotel is located on the thrid floor of an old house in the center of Rome, near the main train station - Colosseum is definitely walking distance. You should look for the house number 44 as the hotel is not signed from the outside. Rooms are small but nice and tidy, more than enough for a good night sleep after sighseeing and/or party. As the hotel has only a few rooms they were very careful with the space, so in the morning you can hear others coming/leaving or taking a shower - ask for rooms at the back as they are a bit quiter, our was too close to the reception. Also they don cahnge towels at all, which might not be the best practice. They serve breakfast in the room, however it is good only to survive until the first cafeteria - anyway Italian standard. Staff is extremely helpful and are ready to give good ideas what to do during the day.

This is the first time we visited Rome. This hotel is located conveniently at one subway station, 10 minutes walking from railway station, and 5 minutes from a supermarket. The employees are welcoming and helpful with road instructions. The rooms are small but clean with good facilities.

It has a good location but is difficult to find because the only sign of the hotel is at the ring bell of the building. The attention was good and looks almost like the pictures.

It was a pleasure to stay here. The hotel is small, clean and location is great -only few minutes from the subway station, one subway stop from Termini. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. The only moment was unexpected for me: central heating's turned for 6 hours a day only during the winter time. But that was not a problem - just ask for an extra blanket. I'll choose this hotel for my next time in Rome.

The staff members at the Mecenate are excellent, especially the ones at the reception desk. Very polite, professional, helpful and initiative. The stay was great, the only minor complaints I have are 1) shower leaked water onto bathroom floor, but wet floor mat was not changed. 2) Sound-proofing not too good, can hear people moving along corridor quite clearly - this may be a problem for people who are light sleepers. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the stay and service of the staff.

There was never hot water, it was over after 2 minutes in the shower and the staff never fixed it, the room was ok but without hot water and competent staff it is difficult to want to come back to that place.

Nice little hotel occupying one floor of a block about 5 mins walk from a metro stop. Pleasant area with lots of restaurants and historic interest, 15 mins walk from Colosseum. Staff were brilliant. As always, a triple room means one double and one single bed.

This was a great hostel to stay at. Very close to a Metro station and walking distance to the train station. The front desk was very nice and extremely helpful in pointing out places we should go and how we should go about getting there. The rooms were always clean and we got breakfast in bed( classic Italian breakfast- cappucino and croissant/cookies/buiscuits). The only issue we had was it would take a while to get in at night as the doorman wasn't always right there and we would have to call and ring the doorbell. Overall a very nice stay and we were allowed to leave our luggage on the day we left. Practically the same price for a hostel! I would recommend this place to anyone!
