The staff was exceptional, the location was great for those needing to stay near the Termini, the room/bathroom size were typical for Italy, but the beds were some of the hardest we have ever encountered.

I stayed 4 nights. The room was small without any table. Only the bathroom had electricity socket. There was a bar nearby and groups of drunkards yelled and shouted in the streets in the middle of the night, waking me up and making me hard to sleep. But the hotel is near the train station which is convenient.

Quite a nice, modest place. Not for an extended stay, since the room is very small. But it was clean and quiet, the staff were helpful, the breakfast was fine by Italian standards, and Termini Station is just a short walk away. Two really good restaurants on the same street, one just to the left of the hotel entrance.

Booked 4 months in advance. Enjoyed our stay in quadruple room. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel well located very close to Rome main stazione termini as well as metro and bus termini and within walking distance to some of the main sightseeing attractions in Rome.Tourist map available free of charge at reception. Good continental breakfast. Recommend guests pay extra cost for airconditioning in order to close double glaze windows to minimise sreet noise. Nice affordable restaurant just next to hotel entrance. Will stay at this hotel again as it offers excellent value for mmoney.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Neighborhood very convenient for Termini train station, Metro, buses. Room was small and did not have a view but it was adequate, especially for the price. There is a good variety of reasonably-priced restaurants in the area, most with fixed-price "tourist menus" available. The map furnished by Venere had the hotel in the wrong block.

We forgot to book a hotel our last night before departing from Italy, so we went online and quickly booked a (relitively) cheap available hotel close to Termini. It served it's purpose for the one night we stayed here, but I would not reccomend it for long stays more then one night. If you just need a place to crash for a night, its a good option. Everything was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful, but the room was extremely small in a weird multi-use building. If you are planning to stay in Rome for more then a few nights, you can do probably do better.

Hotels seem very expensive in Rome, this seemed at the cheaper end, we paid 180 euros for a room for 4 people in October 2007. For a 2 star hotel this was excellent, we had a super time and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

A nice little hotel, with good value for your money. The room was rather small, but neat and clean, and had everything in it that you could need. The breakfast was also good, with more fresh and healthy elements than we got in an Italian four-star hotel. If you want a decent and affordable hotel, I definitely recommend this one. The staff was also very helpful.

Even though Rome is expensive, this hotel was very overpriced for the limited services and quality of the room. The 'convenience' of being a short walk to the Termini train station is not worth the price. There is no air conditioning, the overhead fan was very noisy, the bath towels were a paper thin 'tea' towel and the beds were extremely unconfortable. We had just completed two weeks of travel in Austria and much of Italy. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we had. I would recommend to anyone traveling to Rome not to stay in a hotel in the Termini area. Instead, pay the extra price if necessary to find a hotel in other locations. The service and rooms will be better and you won't encounter the same 'disdain' and lack of effort for the guests that the owners and managers of Assisi show their paying customers.

The Hotel Assisi staff were very helpful, friendly, and welcoming.. not in the best area of town, but I never felt unsafe. One of the staff went out of his way to help us find another place to stay on our last night when he did not have any rooms available for us.. this was not his fault because we did not book our last night in Rome and there were no vacancies anywhere! Great little pizza place with wonderful cheap house wine just 2 blocks away! I would stay at the Hotel Assisi again if in Rome.

My partner and I have just returned from 4 nights in Rome. We found Assisi to be an excellent place to stay and they delivered on everything they promised. Our room was surprisingly large (having just arrived from Paris), as was the bathroom. The room was relatively modern and the bathroom had recently been refurbished. It is located a couple of minutes walk from the Termini Station making it very accessible to all of the city sights. For the keen 'walkers' you could probably walk to a lot of the main attractions. The breakfast was good and the staff very helpful. We arrived fairly late at night and checked in with minimal fuss. The termini station area in general may be a little daunting to a single female traveller at night. My only complaint would be that our rooms air conditioning did not work (there was a ceiling fan), and Rome is very warm at this time of year. All in all Assisi was a very good place to stay for the rate (85 per night/double) and I would definitely go back. You can also catch a bus that goes directly from Rome Ciampino Airport to the termini train station for 6 Euros, making it very convenient to get to from the airport.

The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are clean, the bathrooms could do with a bit of bleach every now and then, but nothing to be disgusted at. The couple that own the hotel are lovely and extremely helpful and polite. The other two male workers are a little incompetent and slack. There was some confusion in our stay, as we had extended our stay in the hotel, to which one of the other male workers was obviously unaware. He wanted us checked out 3 days early. He did try to fix it, but not efficiently or conveniently. It meant we had to pack and leave our luggage downstairs, then change room for the second time. It was eventually resolved but it wasted 4-5 hrs of our time, when time is precious in Rome! We are aware that around Termini, the area isn't the best. We didn't feel unsafe, but I can imagine some would not like it at all. As I mentioned the owner of this hotel was lovely, she simply needs to be surrounded by some more competent help.

The front desk said they would open the breakfast bar for us earlier than 7 because we needed to catch a very early train. They told us they would open it at 5:30 for us so we could eat before our departure. However, when we came down to the front desk, we were told that this message was not communicated and we were not able to have breakfast at the hotel. I was upset because breakfast was included in the price and we had been promised breakfast the night that we checked in. Also, the map on the website should be more detailed. We took a roundabout way to get to the hotel from the train station as according to the map, when we could have simply taken two different streets and would have arrived at the hotel immediately. There was also some street noise in the late hours of the night. Other than these things, the room was fine and so was the service.

The bedroom and particularly the bathroom were tiny but that wasn;t a problem as we were only there to sleep. The shower was superb. We were disappointed that we had to pay extra if we wanted air con as it was very hot with the window closed. But the double glazing made it very quiet. There is an excellent Trattoria right next door, the buffet breakfast was very good value and its proximity to the main train station (5min) was perfect.

Small hotel conveniently located near the Termini railway station. Nearby Italian restaurants with reasonably priced but good food and service. Clean simple room with good beds. 170€ for a four bed with breakfast is not cheap but it is perhaps a low level to be in Rome. Clean room, good beds, birds singing outside in the night and helpful staff together with all the sightseeing made it a pleasent stay.

Really high price/quality ratio. Comfortable location, 10 min. walking from railway station. The staff speak English and they are willing to help. Rooms were clean. Bed was in good shape, not worn out as in some other hotels. Shower worked well. In-room safe at no extra charge was a nice touch. Only down side of room was the ceiling fan. No A/C in this hotel so you need a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan had a loose bearing or something and made way too much noise to use while sleeping. This seems to be a common problem thruout hotels in Europe! Hotel was less than 5 minute walk from train station and subway. The area was comprised of mostly first and second generation immigrants from various countries. We felt safe as usually many people on streets. Lots of budget restaurants in area including two right outside front door of hotel. Food was as good as much more expensive restaurants in tourist areas. There are no "sights" close to hotel but subway is less than 5 minute walk. We paid 65 euros and would rate it as solid value for the money.

It was confusing to approach from the station and find a doorbell for Assisi and Urbe. I rang and had no answer; I just entered when people went out. Then I saw that the regular hotel lobby, with its own entrance, was on the ground floor one door down. This was booked on Venere and guaranteed with a credit card, so it was surprising to find that the hotel didn't take credit cards; I don't remember seeing anything about it at the time of reservation. They told me the night before my departure and I just had one night to pay; it could be a problem if staying more nights.
