Though the hotel is near to Termini station but it was difficult to find as the signboard was not prominently displayed. We have to lug our luggage up the stairs to our room. The front desk staff was however friendly and helpful and the bathroom was spacious but the hot shower does not work very well. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

A clean and quiet hotel with all the necessary items to be safe and confortable. Near the Rome train station. In reception, a well qualified person helps you with information and services. The hotel is in a very old building, but even the 1800´s lift (elevator)works perfectly. In the morning, a temporary market cause some problems to walk thru, but it is retired in the afternoon. Even so, the area and the hotel was very safe. An industrial instalation in the common yard, was the only matter I disagreed with, because no information of the kind of chemicals proceced there.

very good value. Excellent location close to station. Most tourist sites are within walking distance. Street seems unsavoury at first glance but is actually very friendly; five minutes walk and your in town. Station (Termini) is very do-able with luggage. Would recommend it.

The staff at the Ascot were lovely and extremely helpful. We were leaving at 6 am - 2 1/2 hours too early for breakfast; but the night clerk set it up for us anyway. They had good recommendations for nearby restaurants. There is free computer access which was very helpful for checking our flight as we did not bring the laptop. The room was huge and extremely clean; never-the-less there was a musty, slightly mildew-y smell that could not be traced. The neighborhood lacks any charm; and the hotel and furnishings have seen better days; but due to the walking distance from Roma Termini nad the lovely staff; we would certainly recommend the Ascot for a final night before catching a flight,as we did.

The hotel is close to Termini Station. There are many hotels at the area and the signboard at the street has been broken, so it seems a bit difficult to find out. Though it is OK, because I had watched on google map. I didn't miss it. The people are very helpful. They can speak English and welcomed heartly. There were no bathtub in my room, but the shower was good enough to wash my body.

Excellent hotel. Clean and welcoming. Quiet, quad glazing and double shutters. Area is walking distance from the train, tube and bus station. Inclusive breakfast is simple but more than adequate. Good cheap restaurants across the street. Ignore any adverse comments about the surroundings, it is fine. Ideal for sightseeing, most of the big attractions are less than 30mins brisk walk. If you don’t like walking the Termi tube station is close by. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would visit again.

Stayed in the Ascot for 3 nights after booking for a group of 11 over 10th-13th feb. Despite it being freezing cold outside the reception and rooms were warm and cosy. Our room was on the corner and you could hear traffic and the binmen outside and our neighbour hacking up their lungs during the night. Perhaps the outside noise seemed worse as our window didn't shut properly. Continental breakfast was spot on and regularly replenished. Tea and coffee were offered as soon as you sat down. 24 hour reception was welcoming and all spoke good English. I definitely recommend the Ascot. Absolute value for money. Close to Termini but everything is in walking distance if you are fit enough.

Even though they have a big, red neon sign at the corner, I guarantee you will walk right past the hotel if you are expecting a typical hotel front. It is actually on two floors of a residential building only steps from the corner. (Look for the small plaque on the wall.) During the day, there is an outdoor market on that street that will make finding the place even more difficult. Small elevator to the second floor reception, though my room was on the 1st floor. Helpful Filipino at reception when I checked in late one night. Room good size, but single bed very narrow and not very comfortable, like a roll-away folding bed. Bathroom good sized. Quiet, since it faced an interior courtyard. Wifi (free) didn't reach this floor so had to go sit in the "computer room," really a wide hallway between rooms. All in all, decent budget choice in a convenient location not far from Termini.

I am completely surprised that a 2 star hotel is so clean and so neat. The breakfast was delicious although it was just a continental breakfast. Nice pastries, hot good quality coffee. Nice area. Nice to walk around, good restaurants around. Opposite the hotel down the road, there is a lovely bar restaurant called 3 P's. Tasty pizzas and desserts etc... The price is very reasonable. The hotel is on the 2nd floor but the lifts that lead to the hotel is wide and spacious. Not claustrophobic. The sheets and pillows smell nice. White crispy sheets, well washed and ironed. The room has A/C which is necessary. Outside the hotel on Montebello street there is an open market selling wonderful stuff at ridiculously cheap prices. Its close to Rome Termini the main station which links you to all areas plus the bus station that have regular shuttles to the two main airports of Rome. So convenient , nice hotel, clean , good location and good price. I will definitely stay there again should I return to Rome. Well done!!!!

Location was good, very near to the train station, all other hotels in Italy not asking for paying the tax in cash but this one which was really weird! Shower was broken and the water spreaded all over and made the floor real wet, this showed that the hotel staff did NOT do a good maintainence work!

We stayed 5 nights in a triple. It was a bit small but enough space for 3. Sometimes the room was not completely cleaned (found stained towels and shower not cleaned). AC was loud and had kept us awake in the beginning. Front desk had average service. There was no wi-fi in the room we stayed in which was indicated on the website but available somewhere in the hallway. If you plan to make local calls, they are not free at this hotel. Close to termini but if you book early enough I'm sure you'll find a better hotel for the same price.

I stayed in this hotel for four nights from 14 to 17 June. Room and toilette were very clean. Bath cubicle was small but it seems that all hotels in Europe are like that. This hotel is very close to Termini Station. Hence I could easily commute by Metro and bus to Vatican, Colosseum as well as other beautiful sites. Many Tour agencies offer pickup from this hotel. Management was happy to give guidance on commuting. The hotel is situated in residential building and run by a family. At first I was worried whether I came to a shady place since I had my wife and daughter with me. However, I found that all of the customers were good families. The atmosphere was homely. Hotel gives Internet/wifi service for free and works well. Breakfast consists of bread-butter, toast, croissant, juice, jam, tea, coffee. We were happy with it since we are vegetarian. Breakfast time is from 8 to 10 AM. We had to go for Pompeii Tour on 16th June and Hotel Pick up was at 7. When the management came to know about it, they on their own arranged breakfast at 6:30. That is excellent hospitality.

My stay would have been much better if the man at the front desk would have given me a remote control for the AC, and there would have not been almost two hours of noisy racket next door from 1 AM until 2:30 on my second night. ADVICE: make sure you know what's included and not included in the price, bring printed proof, be firm with what you need. Good location - close to train station. I stayed 2 nights and had a twin-bed room which had poor, back-of-bldgs view. It was alright for a short sightseeing trip in Rome. The female receptionist during the day was nice but the Asian guy at night was plain POOR. I requested wifi code but he suggested using their PC down the hall! I think he was too lazy to write me the code. I asked for the air-cond which was included in the price but he told me there was extra cost! Once he confirmed I was right he asked how many nights I was staying. He reluctantly tried to find the remote and at 1 point told me I had to wait till the next day! Ridiculous! No way I would open the room window b/c cooking smell from nearby businesses were coming in. Of course in the end I had the a/c on for the entire stay without extra cost. Very poor service!

Staff was helpful, no problem with language difference. We really enjoyed the fruit and vegetable market as well as the other markets set up on the street right in front of the hotel. The hotel Ascot was very convenient, being near Termini, metro stops, buses, and restaurants. We walked to the central area and even the Vatican but that was a bit longer. The Trevi Fountain, Borghese Park, Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum are all walkable. The neighborhood is less expensive for dining and shopping than the central part of Rome. The hotel staff was efficient and friendly with one exception who was slightly unhelpful when asked about getting a pre-paid voucher printed. The next morning the desk attendant was very helpful with the same task and printed the voucher for me within minutes. The hotel was very clean. The entrance was a bit stark. The room we had was very close to the elevator and front desk and could be a bit noisy when people arrived. Within the room, the window was very good for muffling street noise when closed, but the room did get slightly warm. We spent three nights and found the hotel very good value for money and very convenient. With the one exception, service was efficient, friendly and professional. We would stay again.

The hotel was nearly excellent. The breakfast was a little bit boring after a few days, we missed some variations. But anyway, we walked instead, since all the main attractions were not too far on foot. We found that the rooms were a bit small (we had a triple room), but we didn't stay there all day, so we didn't mind it. Our window opened to the small street where the market took place every day, we loved it. But we had to close the window at night to avoid the early getting up because of the morning noises. With closed windows, there was quiet in the room. The whole house was nice, especially the old style elevator. The personnel was very friendly, they helped us in any case. We were very satisfied with the cleanless of the room and the public area as well. To sum it up, we were very satisfied with the hotel (especially for this price) and I can offer it to anyone who doesn't mind the small rooms and wants to stay some days in Rome.

A perfect hotel for our 4 day stay in Rome. Just a few minutes walk from Termini Station brought us to the hotel where we received a very warm welcome from the hotel staff, who all spoke good English and were more than happy to give us all the advise and help we needed to enjoy our time in Rome. Well presented buffet breakfast set us up fine for our long days exploring the city. Rooms spotlessly clean and very comfortable, especially bearing in mind that this is not a very expensive hotel. The free air conditioning meant that we could close the triple glazed windows for a quiet sleep and still stay cool during the hot nights. In any event, noise was not a problem from the street at any time during our stay. The entry system into this 2nd floor hotel where reception were in attendance 24hrs reassured us of the security and safety in the hotel. I would highly recommend it for a very pleasant stay where you will receive a warm welcome and good service.

Three of us stayed for 1 night only in a triple room. All the staff we dealt with were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, the room was bigger and cleaner than a similar room we had stayed in in another hotel the previous night. The hotel was a short walk from Termini station. Overall the hotel was, for the price, well-located, very clean and with pleasant staff.

Room was too small and dark...bathroom door was one step from the bed. There was no view and the overall impression was depressing...It was near to Termini and metro station though wich made it easy to find and to move around all sights...Breakfast wasn't good either (coffee was bounrned). There was no internet connection. We would return to this hotel for vacation, I would recommend it only for business trips.

Although not in a particularly pretty part of the city, the hotel is very convenient to the train station, metro, and several bus routes which makes it an ideal place to stay when visiting Rome. The staff was very helpful, calling a taxi for us when we needed it, providing us with maps and directions, and recommending really good nearby restaurants. Our room was clean and very quiet (due to a double set of windows and shutters), but the toilet was bit sluggish. In addition, the common areas seemed a bit worn, shabby, and dark, and breakfast was very limited.

Very good service from all staffs and very helpful, great location, very clean in the room . Need to change the pictures of Hotel Ascot in Venere.com because the rooms and facilities in Ascot are much better than in the pictures in Venere.com . Need to improve to provide at least complimentary mineral water if we compare with the room price

Good location – close to Termini railway station and within walking distance to the city center. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean and nice; towels changed daily (except the last day, when they even forgot to leave toilet paper). The room was at the back of the building overlooking small inner court, and apart for the buzzer sounds from the reception desk and usual noise from the next door room it could have been very quiet. Unfortunately, a group of teenagers (school excursion from France it seemed) stayed somewhere in the vicinity and they screamed/yelled/sang from 23:00 for couple of hours on. Out of six nights I had only two quiet nights (once it was a heavy rain, once someone made them quiet after a quarrel). I hope that this was just my bad luck, since it would be pity for this nice hotel if the situation repeats.

I was really happy with this property and my 4 night stay. The location near the train station was convenient and made for an easy arrival and departure as well as easy access to the bus system. We had a great spacious room, simple but very comfortable. The neighborhood is much less touristy than much of the center of room, which meant that we found several great restaurants with good prices nearby.

Hotel Ascot met all our requirments for our city break to Rome. We stayed there in early March 2009. Staff were friendly and helpful. They booked taxi's and restaurants for us and were always eager to help us locate places we were trying to find on the city maps that we wished to visit. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any would be visitors to Rome and indeed will use it again as this was my second time to stay there. It's very central and is a nice walk to a lot of the major historical sites. It's close to termini station so navigating the city via the underground is handy as well. Overall the Ascot hotel is a big thumbs up!

the hotel was very nice, but when we were there at the end of December it was very very cold and I was told that the heaters didn't turn on until 6pm and they were the old fashioned coil kind that take forever to heat. The room wasn't warm until 9pm. All the desk could do was offer more blankets. Other than that the hotel is very nice!

I got a fold out camp bed with a soft foam mattress when i paid the cheaper rate, when i went back second time paid increased rate i got a proper mattress, go figure, rooms were quite small. Also at another hotel just around the corner, for cheaper price, I got a double bed, real mattress, large room and breakfast included. so i did not get value for money staying at Ascot. The staff where nice and assisted as able to with language barrier. It was comfortable and close to train station, and as i did not know Rome it was adequate for my stay.

Although the room was small, the price was well worth the space. Our room was cleaned everyday, our sheets changed, and fresh towels supplied. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We were within walking distance of the subway, which allowed us to access all the major sites. The breakfast was the same each day, but easily saved us 10 euros per day, which made it worth it. This hotel is perfect for someone who is on a budget trip, wants to stay in Rome, and requires cleanliness.

Stayed at this hotel twice (4 nights at the beginning of trip and one night at the end) Wonderful hotel, great central location very near Termini, friendly owners & staff. Only a 5 minute walk (with heavy bags) from the main Station. Within walking distance (admittedly long walks, but nothing too difficult) of many attractions (Colosseum, Forum, Piazza di Spagna. Trevi Fountain, Quirinale, Santa Maria Maggiore). Great daily street market right outside the front door. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We were very impressed with price/value. The location is 3 blocks from the main train station, bus lines and 2 different subway locations. The area is not in the historic hub, but easily accessible. The hotel had the best double/triple window system...you would never know the bustling neighborhood was just below. A street market, a deli, restaurants, precious laundromat, computer access, whatever you need is right below the hotel. We thought it was great for our 4 night stay. It is not a place to hang out at.....just perfect though, for sightseeing all day and crashing at night.

Ascot was a decent hotel. We asked for a double room & got a room w/ a king & 2 twins. It was spacious. The bathroom was a nice size with a tub/shower. It is a noisy street, but the 2 sets of windows keep the sound out. Nice to open up too! The area at first sight, was questionable, but ended up being very safe @ night. That was important being single females. The train is about a 10 min walk and is very easy to use to get around to Rome's attractions. Parking garage down the street was nice too. 35 euro for 2 nights. There is a market on the street in front of hotel in the mornings. You will not be able to pull in front during that time. There is a lift!

This was our first time in Rome. The hotel was very convenient to the train station, which was important to us as we walked everywhere. It was a bit of a walk to get to the sites in Rome, but not bad at all if you are active/like walking. If you are not a walking type of person, I'd find something closer to downtown. The hotel was clean and friendly, and there was a market going on outside in the street every morning, which we thought was fun. There is not much common area, but who spends time in a hotel except for sleeping while on vacation anyway? However--be warned that Rome in general is not all that pleasant. It's a must visit as the historical sites are art are amazing and I wouldn't have missed seeing them--but the people are not friendly; in fact they are quite rude. Watch out for your restaurant bills--they try to charge you for all sorts of things you didn't order or didn't want, and will charge more than posted for the things you did want. When confronted, they adjust the bill no problem, like they are just trying to see how much they can get away with. Similarly, places that have posted that they take credit cards will then tell you their line is down, but if you push them it will magically work again. All that said, the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, and again, very convenient to the train station. We would stay there again if it wasn't in Rome. (Don't skip Rome as again, the sites aren't to be missed, but once you've been there you don't have to go back.)

The hotel is very close to the train station, so the walk was very easy. I loved the outdoor market outside the front door, we bought a skirt for my daughter for 2 euro so we wouldn't have any problems getting into churhes. The quad for our family of 4 was perfect, double glzaed window kept out street noise. The breakfast could be improved with more selection, but it was fine for us to start the day. We walked back to the hotel late one night and inadvertantly went down a street nearby with a few prostitutes on it, but even with that the area still felt safe for us. I guess that's what it means to live in a big city. Also, I thought I remembered there was high speed internet service at the hotel, but that was not the case. Overall, our stay was great.

This hotel is a little gem. The staff were friendly, and they could be flexible with your check out time. They also provide TV with English and French channels. It was few minutes away from the station, and if you fancy a walk, you could walk to Borghese Gardens. It's not exactly in a tourist area, the room was so quiet, I didn't realise there was a street market in the morning selling fresh fruit, vegetables and clothes. There are numerous internet cafes and a launderette and supermarkets. There's also several restaurants in the area and there's a cafe/bar on the same road run by a nice Chinaman where you can have snack or a very late breakfast and you can observe the locals chatting away.
