Friendly concierge, pretty breakfast room. Room is spacious but a bit dark because it's street facing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Artorius. The room was large and quiet, and we loved the patio. The bathroom was a little small by standards in the US, but it was very clean and modern. The staff was great and the Artorius did a great job with their breakfast offerings. We also loved the location; it was easy to walk to most sights but the hotel was not on a busy street. The early check-in (noon) is also a great feature if Rome is the first stop on your trip. The Hotel Artorius was probably the most expensive place we stayed in Italy, but Rome is an expensive place to stay and my wife and I both agree we would use the Artorius again.

It was my first trip to Rome and had a pleasant stay at the hotel.Staff were very friendly and helpful with information and nice breakfast. Location of the hotel was good but was a little difficult to find from the termini.

Extremely convenient location. Walk to Colloseum, direct bus to Vatican and Termini train station within 100m. Delicious breakfast, clean room and excellent bathroom. Staff recommendations for dinner were excellent. Staff were very helpful with maps and their English was excellent.

This is an excellent hotel, in a safe area. Our room was much larger than average and had a well-appointed bathroom. I would expect this hotel to cater to the well-heeled traveler, who enjoys a comfortable, spacious room, and excellent service.

We loved the personal attention from the staff, the friendly service, and the wonderful cappucino in the mornings. The staff made excellent restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was delightful - one of our favorite times of the day! The location is great, centrally located and within walking distance for everything tourists want to see.

We were 1 adult and 2 teens (15 and 17) in one spacious triple room. The hotel is located in the Historic district and is a 5 to 10 min walk to the nearest Metro or tourist site (Trevi Fountain). The street is quiet and the room was very quiet. There are many nice restaurants immediately nearby. The hotel comprises the first (ground) and second floor of a residential building. Security is strong with multiple keys and electronic chips required to access the rooms. The room was clean and spacious. It contained a flat screen tv and a minibar. I thought the room lighting could have been a bit brighter. Breakfast was excellent with coffee made to order, and an abundaance of pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurts, etc. (I don't remember what else there was, I sampled only a small percentage of what was available.) The staff is professional, friendly and good English is spoken. However, if you want to practice your italian they are very encouraging and patient. The overall ambiance is low key and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in staying in a bed and breakfast type place in Rome.

The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We were a little futher away from some of the popular sights than we had expected. The up side to this is that we were away from the tourist/ groups. The actual neighborhood the hotel was in was really nice--great litlle shops. We were able to use the public bus system easily. Breakfast was wonderful. The room was spacious and the bathroom was new and large. There was the smell of tobacco in the room. It is not a no-smoking hotel. As noted in other reviews--the street numbering is weird--large numbers on one side and small on the other. It was confusing to our taxi driver, but he figured it out! I would sty here again.

The location was very good for the historical centre, very close to a view of the Colosseum. The location in a back street was quiet, but there were many small restaurants and shops around. The room size was reasonable. The furnishings were traditional but fresh and smart. The bed was large and comfortable, although firm. There is a shortage of drawer space. The bathroom was very good, with a generous shower cubicle. The main problem for us in the room was the absence of tea/coffee making facilities. Also the maid was not generous with provision of soap, even removing some of our own we had started been forced to use instead (we eventually asked for some more). There is not a safety deposit box in the room, and it becomes a bother to keep taking valuables to the desk instead. However the hotel feels safe as it is a family-run establishment and it has a security door protecting the floor with the rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hall and lift areas are small but very stylish. The breakfast room is somewhat makeshift in character but cheerful. The breakfasts are very good, but the selection is a little repetitive if you are staying more than a few nights, and also there are no American or English style cooked breakfast options. Overall it is a comfortable place to stay and feel at home in, and we would recommend it.

I stayed in this hotel with 2 friends of mine (ragazzi holiday)last October, and we were very satisfied, so when I went for a romantic holiday with my girl friend recently, the choice was not difficult.Artorius is a small, family run hotel in the Monti region in central Rome, walking distance from Termini, Colosseum & Forum. The hotel is situated in a quiet side street, and we feel very much at home in this hotel. Everything is nice about Artorius, the rooms, the bathrooms, the breakfast room and the staff. If you have special food requirements (gluten-free, no milk etc.) the staff is very helpful. While at Artorius, make sure to visit the bottigliera "Ai Tre Scalini" two minutes walk from the hotel.I will recommend Artorius to anyone, but of course, if you are looking for a 5 star business hotel with bar, restaurant, spa etc. you should look elsewhere. For anyone else, Artorius should fulfill your requirements 110 %! We'll be back - we have already booked room for our annual ragazzi holiday in October !

My wife an I stayed for 4 nights at the Artorius and found the hotel to be of good value but a little dearer than when we had booked it due to the performance of the Pound against the Euro. It is located on a quiet side street but is central to most places. We walked to all the main attractions and there are plenty of restraunts nearby to suit all pockets. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends of similar age as the hotel caters for older clientelle although there was one family with teenage children staying there at the same time as us. The staff were courtious and helpful and all we dealt with spoke good English. We can also recommend a very good resteraunt that is about 10 mins walk from the hotel a place called Santa Cristina. We were told about this place by the young lady in the hotel reception.

The hotel was most accomodating when my daughter got sick and was unable to travel the day we were supposed to arrive at the hotel. They did not charge me for the night we were unable to arrive, even though it was short notice. The proximity of the hotel to via Nazionale was excellent.

This is a long overdue review! We stayed at Artorius in March 2008 -- and would go back in a minute!! We were traveling with our three sons, and had two rooms. When we arrived at the hotel, the street was undergoing a major reconstruction. I thought we were doomed -- not sure how they did it, but those windows kept out every bit of outside noise. My husband is a light sleeper, so this was impressive. Alessandro made the boys hot cocoa every morning, and sprinkled a changing design onto the top surface -- which delighted the boys to no end. As we were staying there during St. Joseph's day, I was eager to pick up some special pastries (made only during that time of year). Alessandro's mother insisted on walking us to the bakery, about 20 mins away, because it was the best. As other reviewers have noted, nothing is too much trouble for this wonderful family who runs this terrific hotel. They were happy to speak English, but also very tolerant of my so-so Italian. Truly a gem of a place!

I'd highly recomend the Artorius. Staff we so friendly and helpful with excellent english. Breakfasts were wonderful and there are plenty of good value good quality restraunts within a few minutes walk. Rooms were quite and clean. Beds comfortable. Location is central. 10 minute walk to the Forum and Colloseum. We returned to Rome for a 10th wedding anniversary celebration with a six year old. Rome is not the most child friendly destination in terms of attractions though kids are welcome everywhere, treated well, and are free into most attractions. I'd recomend Explora, the children's museum in Rome. There's only so many historical sights a 6 year old can take.

The Bilingual staff here spoke fluent english and were extremely polite and helpful. This hotel's central location is perfect for tourists and the hotel caters to tourists and can help you plan your day. the rooms are huge and very high quality and many of the extras are either free or very cheap! Their is also a great restaurant next door called the Quadrifolgilio "best food in italy".

The friendly and efficient manner in which we were booked into the hotel set the scene for what was a very pleasurable and relaxing stay. Whilst the road that the hotel sits on is not the most salubrious in the city, the entrance is grand and the security aspect second to none. Everything is controlled by keyring and the security doors substantial. The staff were all warm and friendly and the guys that looked after you at breakfast were very efficient and accomodating. All our meagre requests were accomplished with a smile. Well done guys. Housekeeping was unobtrusive but thorough and always had a smile and a greeting when we met them. Beds are slightly on the hard side but after 'traipsing' around Rome all day I found no problem in sleeping. During our stay we certainly had no problem with noise from other guests. Whilst this hotel is not the cheapest in Rome, and only has a total of 10 bedrooms, it does make you feel special and important and so if you can afford it I would strongly recommend you pay a vist. So how would I sum up this hotel :- A surprising jewel of comfort at a price that won't break the bank.

Friendly, helpful staff made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Cleanliness was excellent and our room was very quiet even though it overlooked the street below. Situated just off via nazzionale the hotel was about 10 minutes walk from the colloseum and about 20 minutes walk away from the main central area of Rome. I would recommend this hotel

We had a 3-bed room with plenty of space, very clean and the bathroom was excellent. The real bonus was a large balcony with table and chairs for the evening beer or wine! Very welcoming employees and tasteful breakfast, with a large selection and real espresso "on the house" in the backyard (in contrast to some rather sad examples experienced in other hotels of Rome). Strongly recomended!

This hotel was spotless with very friendly and accommodating (English speaking too!) staff. Our room had a terrace with a small table and two chairs - view was so Rome (back of another building) but we loved it. The bathroom was spectacular! The location was great - between Colosseum and Trevi Fountain - and we walked everywhere. Breakfast was served in a beautiful room and the cappuccino arrived with a cocoa happy face on the foam. I'd go back in a minute given the opportunity.

The employees were very helpful and very welcoming. The hotel from the outside is very simple, but the interior is surprising. There is a beautiful historic marble first floor lobby. It's small and quaint, but very clean and beautiful. There is a beautiful historic elevator and nouveau-period metal railings and ironwork around the elevator. The breakfast bar was wonderful, and you get to sit in the outdoor courtyard which was just beautiful! The room was huge, with a street view and a VERY sparkling clean bathroom. Overall A++++ for the price and location!

all of what others have raved about turned out to be true, but the real jewel in the crown is the service, particularly the son, maurizio. he was amazing. (we had to leave for airport at 6:00 am, and maurizio and his father had the entire breakfast spread out for us before we left, even though we told them not to bother.) you will feel like you're staying with family. ====== the only reason i gave services a 9 was because the site says they have laundry facilities, but they don't. and the 8 for spaciousness of rooms was for the bedroom, which was smallish and did not have a chest of drawers for clothes, but the bathroom was large and new. these are very minor points. we would definitely go back anytime we visited rome.

We started our European adventure here for 3 nights. Wonderful, helpful staff. Extremely clean, almost new looking room. Hotel hard to find as taxi driver couldn't get through to drop us off. We had to walk uphill dragging our luggage. We could have taken the Metro for 2E, compared to 12E for the taxi from the Termini. Hotel is very close to Cavour Metro stop. We ended up taking the Metro back to the Termini to catch the train to Civitavecchia. Double room is lovely, although virtually no drawer space. Bathroom is tiled and shower was great. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! We were within walking distance to almost all attractions, except the Vatican. Must have walked 20 miles in 3 days. Breakfast was delightful. The best croissants ever. Also there was breakfast smoothies as well as American coffee, cappacino and expresso. Various cereals, toast, and breakfast pastries of different kinds. Also for the Europeans, there were cold cuts and cheese. We would definitely go back and stay at the Artorius in the future. Thanks to all the staff at Artorius.

The hotel was fine. Sometimes they didn't give us new towels but just hung the used ones back up, or didn't give us more soap etc., but if we asked, they gave us fresh towels or what we needed. Hotel Artorius provided an excellent base for our five day stay in Rome. The hotel is very close to the main ancient Roman sites but is in a quiet backstreet with attractive boutiques and small restaurants close by. There is a very attractive courtyard area where breakfast is served but no other public areas. Our room was spotlessly clean and well-serviced during our stay though we did miss having more of view. We would certainly recommend Hotel Artorius for a stay in Rome.

A little difficult to find. When you come up our of the metro - you have to walk a block or two before it says "leoninaa". Then continue walking for 3 blocks (even though the hotel says 1) it is quite a ways. But, you are so close to the coliseum, and to other city centre sites - what a gem!

EXACTLY what we were looking for !! A quaint hotel, right in the heart of the city, living amongst the local people, in a safe area. We were travelling with our 15 years old daughter and our triple room was very spacious (by Europe's standards) and very clean. The staff was so courteous and ready to help anyway they could. We loved the breakfast area, which was outside in the back court, very private. Alexander's cappucinos and hot chocolate were a treat every morning. Lots of variety of food, tasty coissant, bread and pate. Also many good restaurants in the area. Location was excellent for sightseeing. Down the street, the Coliseum, only a 10 minute walk. We walked everywhere, to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, we even walked back from the Vatican (of course with many stops along the way). I would absolutely recommend the Artorius if you want to live an Italian/Roman experience, the way we did. It's a family owned hotel and they care and they take pride in their place, as they should. Don't miss the opportuntiny to see for yourself. If you're looking for the Hilton/Sheraton or big chain services, that is not the place for you or stay home.

My husband, 6 y.o. daughter and I stayed 4 nights in this lovely hotel. Booked on Venere: All reservations in place on arrival. Though early, shown to room for a power nap before our Presto Tours (also highly recommended) adventure. The rooms are on a corridor accessible only w/a chip-key. The rooms are 1 flight (or lift) up from street. We'd a nice triple room with balcony w/ umbrella-shaded table. There's a little noise (air conditioner?) outside that occasionally pops on, but not overly annoying and undetectable inside the room. Room decor simple, but refined: No art, but roomy & with high ceilings. No chest of drawers, but ample+ space for suitcases. Bathroom of lovely travertine w/a shower w/fine pressure, hot water & plenty of light: Abundant surface area on sink for toiletries. Hotel is tucked on a peaceful street. Numbers on buildings confusing. Cab driver passed the doorway. To avoid this, look at numbers on the LEFT side of the street when arriving--Commit to memory the front of the building at the hotel's website. Hotel Artorius is across from supermarket where one can buy wine, water and snacks, for the room’s minibar. No room safe, but the family that runs the hotel was able to stow items in the vault at the desk. Breakfast in cheery courtyard was bountiful & tasty. Alessandro was friendly & helpful. Delicious capuccino and hot chocolate each day. Staff sweet and courteous. The woman who tidies the rooms deserves award for excellence! Sparklingly clean! The night man at desk didn't speak English (Italy, after all!), but eager to help, calling another to translate. Parrot at entry was pretty! Many restaurants nearby offered fine fare (though we didn't care for Jubilate: The food wasn't very good, yet was pricey). Within walking of all major sights, but a relaxing & quiet setting. Artorius is also only 5 minutes from the Colosseum on foot. Bus (hang on to wallet!) 2 blocks from hotel goes everywhere. Would return!

This was an excellent simple hotel with a comfortable room, air conditioning and a very nice bathroom. We used the 64 bus from the Termini which I recommend and also used the same bus to the Vatican and Pantheon area. The Coloseum is an easy 5-10 walk. The room is much nicer in person than it looks on the website and the hotel service and cappacino's were excellent. The rooms are small but this is typical of a European city as is with NYC. I highly recommend this hotel and found it to be walking distance or easy bus ride to most of our destinations. The staff were generous and gracious. I highly recommend this hotel and think it is a very good value.

After making a last-minute reservation at Artorius, I really wasn't expecting the hotel to be so great. The staff is amazing, very helpful and friendly. The location is also great. As a 19 year-old female travelling alone I was a little worried about safety. The hotel is located on a really calm and safe street, with some nice restaurants nearby and so close to the Coliseum and other historical sites. My room was pretty good too, very comfortable, clean and spaceous - and so was the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and on a really charming area, it felt like an italian movie set. A GREAT BOUTIQUE HOTEL!!! This hotel is pristine, more than centrally located, charming, and a TRUE BARGAIN. The owners, a young couple, take enormouse pride in their abode and it shows in every aspect of your stay. Breakfast is wonderful and served outside in the hotel's inner courtyard under grape vines...if it rains there is an enclosed area in the same courtyard. We stayed at the Artorius after coming off of a 5 star 10 day Med cruise. Upon ariving we were welcomed by the staff and helped with our luggage. We stayed in Suite 102 which was a nice size with a very large bathroom. We had a window that faced the back of the property over the courtyard and was very quiet. The stained glass window which is on the website was in our bathroom. Our friends were in Suite 106 which faced the front street, was a little noisier during the early morning hours and had a smaller bathroom but was still very nice. Suite 101 which is also in the back of the property had a small balcony which overlooked the courtyard. The entire hotel is immaculate and that was very important to us. We didn't need luxurious ammenities but this hotel was just beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was fine and the cappacino was very good as I had read. We really enjoyed sitting in the courtyard at night with a bottle of wine just relaxing after a long day of walking around Rome. The hotel is well located and we were able to walk to everything. I would stay at the Artorius again when I return to Rome and would recommend it highly to anyone.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Artorius. Our host, Alessandro, spoke good English and was very accommodating, as was the rest of the staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and had a roomy shower with a wonderful shower head. The only issue we had was not the fault of management: a guest in a room adjacent to ours came home late one night, turned the TV up loud, then apparently fell asleep because it remained on and loud for the rest of the night. We had to turn our fan on to drown out the sound. When we commented on it the next morning to Alessandro he took it seriously and the problem didn't happen again. The hotel has a wonderful outdoor breakfast area that we found very charmng. The Artorius is located just a few minutes' walk from the Metro, the bus and the Coliseum. We would definitely stay there again.

Artorius is an excellent choice for a close-in walk to location for all the ancient sites, except the Vatican - #64 bus at top of the street. The rate is good within the very high Rome prices (we paid E180/$270 per night). Cleanliness of rooms and public areas is outstanding in this small quiet family run hotel. Breakfast was very good with excellent service. The only (and important) negative was the A/C which was broken for most of the seven days of our stay in May. It was a central system, meaning all rooms got no A/C when it failed. Luckily we only needed the A/C a few of the seven days we stayed, but it was something we chose for and paid for but never received for more than a day or two. No discount was offered to reflect this however. Although an excellent choice, we would strongly recommend that if you are thinking of staying in May through Sept (high temps) that you confirm with the hotel that the system is working and, that if it fails you will receive a discount.

I want to sing the praises of the Artorius staff. We found them to be warm and friendly as well as competent and helpful. Honestly they provided us the with best service, beyond any expectations. Knowing it was a special trip for us, they provided us with fabulous welcome treats in our room. Each day we were treated with the utmost hospitality at breakfast. We were provided with thoughtful answers to our questions. Finally, on our last day, the staff arranged a taxi to take us to Termini, and when we realized that we had looked at the time wrong and had to be at the station practically immediately, they quickly arranged a new taxi and expedited getting us out. Marisimo (I hope I spelled that right)and the nice woman who ultimately saw us out: Thank you! We made it! And we were so sorry to leave you under such circumstances. We had a wonderful stay with you all and hope to send friends your way. May I also mention that the hotel was lovely, our room large, towels nice, and breakfast good and filling. We (a couple, 40 and 41) walked everywhere from the hotel. The Colosseum is close by. We definitely recommend Hotel Artorius.

Our welcome on arrival could not be improved on. All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was neat, tidy and quiet; bathroom decorated in marble with the best shower we experienced in all our travels. The room had French doors leading out on to a private balcony. Hotel security was first class. Breakfast was excellent and the cappuccinos were wonderful. The hotel was central to exploring Rome with the Colosseum a ten minute walk away.

Very friendly and helpful staff - discrete and not overpowering. Rooms cleaned daily and spacious. Mini bar very reasonably priced. Central location allowing you to walk to all sites easily. Some very good restaurants in street. Excellent breakfast and brilliant coffee.

We booked the hotel based on the high reviews of other travellers and were not disappointed. Its location was very central, with the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps less than ten minutes away. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

I think Artorius is an excellent hotel. I just loved the personal service, kindness and gentleness of the staff. The rooms were spotless and I felt very secure in this hotel. If I gave any category less than a 10 it is because I do not know the expectations of other guests. Our room and neighborhood was very quiet. It was a relief to stay here after a long day of sightseeing in the crowds of people TIPS: We always seemed to head downhill towards the Coliseum or the Blue Line Metro stop on Via Cavour. On the last day we discovered the uphill perpendicular, primary street with all the wonderful shopping! April 25th is Liberation Day (WWII) and May 1st is another National Holiday. A lot of Europeans plan holidays during this time. Please remember that many (if not most of the museums in all Italian cities) are closed on May 1st. We made the most of our day by visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the beautiful churches. We were able to look at the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill but could not get into these sights. A wonderful church I recommend is the Gesu. I would recommend the Coliseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill approximately 1/2 mile from Artorius. The 64 bus (and many others) are near the hotel, too as is the blue line metro stop.

After reading great reviews of Hotel Artorius, I decided to book them for our Rome stay. While at first it seems a little strange to be on a narrow back street, it turned out to be a great location and a very nice hotel. We were a 10 minute walk from the Collesium and had numerous restaurants within a short walk. Half the fun was wandering up and down all the little streets not knowing what we'd find along the way, including some of the best fettucine alfredo ever!! The staff was very accomodating, especially the morning we had a tour booked at the Vatican, and accidentally overslept. They got us a taxi quickly, and we made it perfectly on time. The breakfast area out back was very cozy and peaceful - nice way to start the day. I would definitely consider Hotel Artorius if we are fortunate enough to return.

The hotel felt like a B&B. The staff was very responsive. I wish they had staff that spoke better English, but the recommendations were very good. Breakfast was fresh with variety. Location was central to Colosseum and Pantheon. We stayed for 4 nights. Street was quiet. First time to Rome, but hotel was better than others in Italy.

Hotel Artorius exceeded our expectations. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. The rooms were bigger than we expected and we had a lovely balcony. The location was great and close to sites and the metro.

A superb little hotel, completely charming with excellent service. I brought my laptop but forgot a cable - Alessandro had one I could borrow. It was raining one morning, and Alessandro was offering us umbrellas before we had time to realize that we hadn't packed any. I had questions about bus routes and schedules, and Alessandro knew all the answers. A delightful stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at this small, intimate hotel. It was within convenient walking distance of so many things, and the staff was wonderful. The room was a good size, the bathroom was quite large by European standards, and I really enjoyed the outdoor breakfast area. We'd definitely stay there again!

We were not overly impressed with Artorius. The road was under construction when we arrived and we had to carry our 4 bags a long way to get to the front door. The hotel was clean and half of the staff were very friendly. The other half either didn't speak English or were just plain unfriendly. Location was pretty good. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go (depending on how long you're willing to walk). No internet service in this hotel. Every time someone was buzzed into the hotel, we could hear it in our room. Also, some very annoying motion detecting light in room that would turn on at even the slightest movement (even middle of the night bathroom visits would wake your spouse because of the light). We have been to better hotels, but have also been to worse. Noone goes overboard to knock your socks off at this hotel.

It's a pity the scores only go up to 10. The staff in the hotel were so welcoming and friendly, nothing was any bother for them. It was our first visit to Rome and we will definitely be returning to stay in Hotel Artorius. We have already passed on details of hotel to friends.

The Hotel Artorius far exceeded all my expectations. The staff was warm, kind, and committed to excellent service. The facility is luxurious for this price range. My room was spotless, comfortable, and much nicer than I expected. The location is convenient for walking to all the major sites, and has great restaurants and gelato nearby!

A nice quiet small hotel with friendly staff in a good location only 15-30 mins walk from the main attractions. Highlight for us was the newish museum of Trajan's forum only about 5 mins walk away Rooms of good size for Rome, minimal decoration but comfortable.

Everything about the hotel was excellent. Value for money, level of service, location and room. The only thing I would have personally liked would have been a toaster, that's about far as the critisim goes. Would stay there again and would highly and have already recommended the Artoreus to friends

Wonderful place to stay with some modifications needed. Bathroom needed more shelf space...even one more would do for two people sharing the room. Breakfast gazebo was not warm enough for winter mornings...could have used another space heater. Once guests moved in to room next door, we realized that rooms were not very sound-proof. Breakfast was average. No pictures on the walls, which gave a very austere look to the room. Owners were great, though, and place was spotlessly clean.

This is a small but very clean and pleasant hotel on a narrow street in a central location. It is within easy walking distance to major attractions (e.g. Coliseum, Forum) as well as the main train and metro stations. It is very quiet and has spacious rooms that were comfortable for us (a couple with a 10 year old son). The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We certainly plan to stay here again.

Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in a secure, friendly, family-run hotel in the centre of Rome attractions. Romms a tad on the small side, but provided you don't intend on spending all your time in the room, this is not an issue.

A wonderful little hotel in the heart of Rome. The Artorius is a family run hotel of 10 rooms on the first floor of a refurbished townhouse. The rooms are modern and very clean. Bathroom marble and spotless. Plenty of large fluffy clean towels every day. Security is very good with swipe access to floor and cctv. The Via del Boschetto is a quiet street narrow cobbled lots of trattorias retaurants and even a nice Irish bar. Major sights are all in walking distance. Termini station 20 minute walk. Beware of dishonest taxi drivers who will take you all round the long way. buses are cheap 1 Euro for 75 minutes but keep your wits against pickpockets especially on bus line 64 to vatican and around Termini. We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend Artorius Hotel. The breafast was good especially the cappachinos prepared by Alessandro.

We arrived very late the first night and had some problems communicating with the staff that was present because they spoke very little English and we spoke no Italian. But that is part of the charm of foreign travel. I only mention this because we had an issue which could not be resolved due to not being able to understanding each other. We thanked him for trying and retired to our room figuring we could get the issue resolved in the morning. About 30 minutes later, we received a phone call from a staff member who was off duty and she was able to resolve the issue over the phone. We were greatly surprised by this (especially considering the time of night), and would not hesitate staying there again. Everyone was very friendly and gladly made sure everything was to our satisfaction. The Hotel Artorius was truly a great find for us.

Wonderful hotel, lovely family who go out of there way to help. The rooms are immaculate and the location is spot on with tourist sites easily assessible. Watch your belongings on the tourist buses though, as I had my purse stolen on the number 64 bus to the Vatican. The people at the hotel were wonderful about it and even offered to lend us some money until we were able to wire money out to Rome. This did not put us off Rome which we thought was spectacular. Tip: Do not carry your all your cards/ money and leave your passports at the hotel. The hotel is very safe to leave your valuables.

I cannot say enough about this friendly, clean, safe and perfectly located hotel. We were greeted and shown to spacious, quiet rooms even though we arrived at noon. Our room even had a wonderful big balcony. My husband and I shared one of the triple rooms we had reserved for our group which included parents and four adult children, by the time we got to Rome some of the kids had had enough of each other so we asked for an additional single room, which we got and the hotel, on its own, reduced our triple rate to a double - they didn't have to and we would have paid for the triple. The location is in ancient Rome, if you go one block and around the corner you will see the Colosseum looming at the end of the street. Via Boschetto itself is nearly auto free and quiet and filled with shops and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was in a lovely little covered area in the back. Alessandro was sweet and prompt with our morning caffe, even adding cute cocoa powder designs to the foam on the cappuccinos. Breakfast consisted of fresh juices, meat, cheese, pastries and more. I can't wait to stay at this beautiful hotel again.
Australia, Jan 2008
A fabulous hotel in a fabulous location! We found the friendly obliging service very welcoming and significantly different from previous visits to Rome. For example, on our first night the room we were allocated struggled to accommodate twin beds and after reading the reviews about rooms with a balcony I asked if there might be one available. On returning from a day of sightseeing we found we had been moved to a much larger room with a fantastic balcony - all without any fuss or bother. Another great aspect of this hotel is its location. Two streets away from the Colosseum, there must be 10 - 15 excellent (authentic) Italian restaurants in the street or surrounding streets. There is a well stocked supermarket across the narrow street, it is close to the main shopping area and an easy walk from the Termini (main train station) - what more could you ask for!?! Taxi’s from the airport have a set fee of 40 Euro so this is a welcoming relief to tourists who fear being cheated and/or “taken the long way”. I would return to this hotel without any hesitation. As a previous reviewer said, the breakfast is simple but adequate however the service is impeccable. Overall it is a great hotel and we just loved our stay – two stars doesn’t do this place justice as the rooms are truly lovely!

Excellent small hotel, only 10 rooms in a first floor, very comfortable, quiet, clean and well decorated with very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed in a triple bedroom, very spacious and had a balcony as an extra. Buffet breakfast is excellent, great pastry and the capuccino is a must! Hotel is centrally located in a lively street with many stores (restaurants, groceries, etc), just 5-10 minutes walk to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Cavour subway station. We would absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend it to other travelers too. Only suggestion would be that they put a better hotel sign at the entrance (i.e. facing the street) in order to avoid unnecessary turn around driving by unfair roman taxi drivers (fare from Termini station should not be more than 8-9 Euros, but our 'confused' driver went in circles and raised it to 18 Euros!). Very helpful, the hotel owner himself went into the middle of the street to stop the cab upon my cellphone call and avoid further rip off. This hotel is a hidden jewel in Rome.

Excellent boutique hotel with clean, spacious rooms and beautiful marble bathrooms. The actual room was much nicer than the picture on the websites. The staff were exceptional, the rooms were cleaned daily and breakfast provided a great selection of healthy choices. Alessandro makes an wonderful Cappuccino and provided exceptional service. The hotel is located on a typical small Roman street and is walking distance to anywhere in Centro Storico. Excellent restaurants were numerous in the surrounding area as well as good shopping to include a small supermarket opposite the hotel. Termini is 10 minutes via taxi, there are two subway stations in the area and buses can be had within a 5 minute walk on Via Nazionale.

The rooms are huge! The balcony was also large, but you had a view of someones yard. Alessandro made our stay worthwhile. He helped us out in every way possible, grazie! Breakfast was good, a good variety. The only thing is they were reconstructing the front desk so there was no lobby, and elevator is old. Overall a great stay though..

The room was spacious for three, and the bathroom was beautiful-exceeding our expectations. Breakfast was superb, the cappuccino great! The location is perfect and central to all sights. We would definately stay at the Hotel Artorius again and highly recommend it to others.
