This hotel is conveniently located and offers an excellent value for your money. It's close to Termini ( no need to take a taxi), close to any public transportation route one may need to use, and within a walkable distance to major sights: Colosseum, Piazza Venetia and Trevi Fountain. Our room was rather on the small side, but the bathroom was big, the air c.onditioning worked wonders, so the overall feeling was very confortable. The walls are thin and if you have noisy neighbors, that can be a nuissance. However, we were out in the city all day long, so that wasn't an issue for us. The best part about this hotel is the staff and even more, the food. There is a breakfast includked with your room that is just fabulous:excellent coffee, eggs, bacon, cold cuts bar, pastries and cereal, yougurt, healthy items like : green salad, non fat yogurt, and so on. In the afternoon, there is a complimentary buffet with the purchase of a drink(we had excellent red wine) .this buffet is nothing that one may think ( peanuts, crackers and that sort of thing). It' s actually real food, like 4-5 kinds of pizza, pasta dishes, mozzarela cheese with tomatoes, basil and olive oil, pigs in the blanket, small portions of grilled meat and a plate with fresh fruit. Just do the math: 2 dinners in town, eating and drinking similar items, takes you to 60-70 euros, while here we paid 12 for the wine only. The staff was outstanding: courteous, helping, accomodating and smiling! Thank you to everyone there!

Excellent hotel, walking distance to Roma Termini, Colloseum, Forum and other Roman ruins. Also walkable to Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps. I found the hotel staff very helpful. When I asked for a taxi reservation to airport, they gave me the option to book the taxi and provided me the details for a train service to airport. I was really impressed. Since it was early morning, I took the taxi (which was also very good). The buffet breakfast in the morning is excellent by American standards. You would normally find something like that in a good Hilton hotel. Very impressive, I would rate 10 out of 10. Stayed in room 142 which was spacious and had an excellent A/C and bathroom. No complain whatsoever. Room was serviced every day punctually with no issues. Very very satisfied.

I was disappointed with my stay of 4 nights, having stayed at the hotel before. On arrival we were given a totally inappropriate room (room 230). No light at all, internal room, with a window facing an internal balcony that was so dark that it was not worth having a window. We were moved on my insistence to a slightly better room for the night that had at least some external light. We were then moved a third time to a first floor room with a window that was better, however the bathroom shower was broken and the fittings in the room were dated and there was no desk and chair. It was better than the others, but certainly we will not be staying at this hotel again.

The rooms we we given were not 4* quality. The wallpaper was coming off the walls and the bathroom was cold and in desperate need of renovation. The minibars in the room were empty and the bar service downstairs was very slow. I had to ask to change rooms.

A so-called "four star" hotel which cannot provide an iron and an ironing board for a guest is simply not worthy of the category. I have been visiting Rome for over 20 years and lived there for 3, so I know the Termini area and its drawbacks well and these are not the reason for the poor review. We chose this location for two nights because it was convenient for the station where we had to drop off the hire car and get a train two days later, and because we were going to the nearby Opera House on the evening in between. Anyone else fancy going to the Opera in Rome with clothes that have been in a suitcase for a week? 4 stars? I don't think so. The decor is tired, the walls paper thin so you can hear the manager walking the corridors on his mobile phone, and the bedroom doors have to be slammed shut. The reception and breakfast staff were charming however, while the doorman who was more like a nightclub bouncer. But the management - and the awarding body - need to go on a refresher course to remind them what 4 stars mean.

Our triple room was perfect for single mom and two older kids. It was funky and colorful and very roomy. We should like to stay here again for a long weekend. Nice place to come back to for a siesta. Two very large beds and a small fold-out cot that turned out surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom was fun, had two sinks, bidet, very clean, fun shower with glass-wall look-through to the room. Air conditioner seemed to go on constantly, which kept the street noise out, but the room a bit too cool. We loved they gaudy modern decor. The area has lots of tourists, is extremely close to Termini, but you can still find gems right down the street (like an excellent pastry and sandwich shop).

Always reliable for a nice, quiet, clean room. Modern, comfortable so if you are looking for an antique-filled, ancient Italian experience, this isn't it. Regular rooms are small, but normal for Europe. Superior rooms are more spacious. Fantastic location for access to trains and their car service to the airport is worth every euro (although reasonably priced). We've stayed here a dozen or more times as we arrive and leave Rome and we've never found fault. The area around Termini isn't the best but have never felt it was dangerous. Highly recommended if the price is right. We've gotten great deals, but have also found the rooms to be outrageous - just depends on time of year and availablity, I'd guess.

The room was very small. The bathroom was not only small but the lights could not be turned off, the glass shelf by the sink was falling off the wall and no shampoo. The windows opened onto an air shaft, no view, and the phone was broken. All in all, an overpriced 2nd class motel room.

The hotel has a 4 star foyer and competent, helpful staff. The room was 2 star, in need of painting and maintenance. I'm sure I could have found better value elsewhere. The toilet leaked, the shower enclosure was heavily caulked (from previous leaks), the water pressure was highly variable, and the shower was very slow to drain thus requiring the shower to be set to a very low flow rate. The location (near the station) is as advertized and it was quiet and the bed comfortable.

This hotel is in a fantastic location! We walked most places and it is literally across the road from the train station. The beds were REALLY REALLY uncomfortable and pillows like rocks. The room was also quite small, but clean and quite modern. However, the service wasn't great. It was ok when we arrived but when leaving we were told we had to pay with cash as the eftpos machine was broken - we said we couldn't and the receptionist got really cranky and pretty much wouldn't talk to us! We were not impressed at all... Be aware of rude service at this hotel!!

I booked a single room. The first room which I was given was very, very small. After I begged(first they turned down, so I really begged...) to change the room, they gave a more spacious room. After all my stay At Ariston was wonderful. Needless to say, The location was the best of all. As some comments indicate, if you are lucky enough to have a spacious room, Ariston is ideal to stay. But if not....well what will you say...As far as you don't mind the space and a bit downtown-like- atmosphere of the area, it will still be nice, thinking about the reasonable price and the location.

Except for the noise, a very good hotel. It's very close to the train station and convenient to all forms of transportation so if you can get accustomed to the noise I don't think there's a better hotel for the money. The room was huge and the bathroom was amazing--not what you would expect in a European city. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Room clean and spacious. Air conditioning did not work, but could not open window overnight due to easy room access via a fire escape. Breakfast very bland, no fresh bread, just heated up frozen rolls. Scrambled egg horrible, probably tinned. I would rate hotel as 3 star, not 4. Hotel very convenient to main railway station.

Wonderful, clean, really nice people. With a very good location. The only thing was that the map provided didn't match the actual location at all, since it was located about 2 blocks south, but they have updated the map so its ok now. Very nice experience. Very close to Termini so giving access to all monuments. Easy to find restaurants at night close by. Modern, very welcoming hotel. Booked 2 rooms with Venere as adjacent rooms but was given one 2 floors below the other. Problem rectified by very nice lady at reception. Breakfast was excellent. Recommend rooms on upper floors. Would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed in Rome before. This hotel is far superior. We were warmly welcomed, staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was small (as one expects in Europe) but very clean, nicely decorated, good bathroom. The bar and lounge area were very pleasant, bar staff excellent. Breakfast room was nice, bright and ligh, and the breakfast was better than we had expected. The location, while not in the most desirable area, was good for a short stay, close to the termini (saves a major hassle with taxis/luggage) and we could walk to the major sightseeing places. The staff were helpful re suggestions for dining at night. My only niggle would be that the shower water was not very hot. I would definitely stay at the Ariston again.

We had oginal book a standard room however when we arrived I asked about an up grade. the desk clerk showed us the room the we had booked, it was really small with 2 twin beds. The bathroom was a good size and updated. The upgrade room was very nice, new, large and funky. It was an extra 50 euro to go to this room. King size bed, huge bathroom, tons of room, and an in room safe. Very nice. Good location but a little far to where it all happens. Close to all buses and the train station ( 2 blocks at most ), we walked from the train station with our bags. I would probably stay here again, great value for what we had! We are 36 and 38.

We stayed there only for one night, prior to catching our flight back home after cruising. Our room was spacious and clean. AC was not working all that great, but we were somewhat comfortable. The room was located at the back facing a court which was loud (echoe). Although we felt save, the location was not the greatest but was convenient by Roma Termini. The breakfast room was nice and many choices were available and it was good.

This was overpriced and pretty lousy. The plumbing in the room above kept me up all night. Then a maid walked into my room really early and then proceeded to make a lot of noise outside by room. I felt I should have been compensated but was not when asked if Ihad enjoyed my stay and told them what had occurred. The room was tiny and I also felt I should have had a price for a single room and was really charged for a double.

The area around the train station is a little seedy, but we wanted to stay near the station as we only had to tote our bags a couple blocks to the hotel. The gentleman at the desk (with the really cool glasses) was very friendly and helpful. Gave us maps and called several tour operators for us. Hotels in Rome are notoriously expensive, especially given the current value of the Euro, but this hotel offered a good value. Many restaurants, gelato and internet cafe nearby. If you stay here, don't miss the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica only a couple blocks away. Breathtaking!

Just stayed at the Ariston, Rome for 5 nights. Hotel was clean, room was adequate. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Advice from reception regarding buses, trains etc readily given, staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Hotel bar is O.K. but expensive. Bars/reataurants across the street much cheaper! Hotel location was good, next to Termini so good for busses/metro. It's quite expensive and not quite what I would call 4 star, but probably what you get for your money in Rome. I have mixed feelings for this hotel. Some of the employees seems to not be too interested in doing a good job, or not being able to do so (lack of time, not proper guidance etc.). But as the manager asked me at breakfast first day, he was very interested in my comments/complaints and listened carefully to my suggestions. I was also offered another room for the last night. The first room I got was a small, somewhat old single room on 2nd floor, but for the last night, I was moved to a newly refurbished and very spacious twin room on the 5th floor. (Photos attached, sorry for not being able to rotate!) The hotel has potential to become a become a good four star hotel, but at present, there are too many minor errors/mistakes/oversights At present, it seems as two star personnel in a four star building. Positive: very kind page boys, very nice room offered last night, a manager that was very interested in my complaints and suggestions, complementary soft drinks/mineral water in mini-bar. Negative: some of the employees (especially a male receptionist (35-40 years old?)), no air condition in mid-April (not turned on), the room offered for the first two nights being somewhat small and old, maids that did not took too much care (or time available!) for details (e.g. unclean water boiler, litter found). Advise: ask for rooms at the upper floors, as these are the ones refurbished! The hotel is not in a beautiful area, not at all, but very conveniently close to the Termini train station (and metros, buses). Also my favorite restaurant in Rome, "Smeraldo" is just five minutes away in the parallel street (via P. Amedeo 16). Be also aware of the basilica a few minutes away, downhill from the hotel.

The hotel is very very close to the train main station (Rome Termini), by which we just go walking (2 min) to the station and travel to Florance, Pisa, Vinace and other places. a lot of shops resturant and cold stores are around. the location is exvellent. Through the internet we book for a superiar room, when we went there they gave us a different type of romm!! we paid more to get the same room in the photo. Note that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor has not been innovated as yet!! and rooms on those floor are not good at all!! This was a trip to celebrate my "special" birthday with my husband. We felt the hotel was in a good location for moving about the city. It is in a small back street, but we never felt ill at ease on a night time. Breakfast was good, just what would normally be provided in Italy. Hotel has recently been refurbished to a good modern styling. Some of the rooms are not relly big enough to be a double and we had one of these on the first night. The hotel moved us for our remaining 2 nights to a fantasticly spacious room. The staff were always welcoming and helpful and dealt with our request to move without any fuss. The hotel is ideally placed for all locations.(There is no longer a fitness room at the Hotel)

We visited Rome for the first time and stayed at the Hotel Ariston through the Venere.com site. The kindness and service of the hotel staff was outstanding which was quite different from the uninteresting staff in some of the tourist restaurants The room was spacious and very quite. The location was very convenient to take busses and metros. To be recommended !

Very close the railway station, and close to subway, it's ideal for all travellers in the center of rome. The rooms need to be rearranged, but it's quite ok.

This is a few steps from the train staion and very convenient to buses and the train to the airport. The staff is very friendly and the hotel was very quiet. Breakfast was better than usual in Italy and they do not charge you for anything you drink from the mini-bar. This hotel was a pleasant experience!

We stayed at the hotel for almost a week. Very satisfied! Very nice and helpful staff and good breakfast. Just 100 meters from Termini station. Not the best surroundings in the city, but suited us well. We paid 155-175 Euro a night. A bit too much, but hotels in Rome are generally very expensive.

Hotel is located in a convenient location near train station. Rooms were very spacious for price and well maintained. Recent upgrades to hotel gave it a very stylished look. I would definitely recommend hotel.

The room we were allocated was on the 2nd floor and quite small. The 1st floor rooms seemed to be in the process of being renovated and looked a lot smarter than our room. Hopefully all rooms in the hotel will be undergoing the same treatment.

Excellent service received from the hotel, rooms are extremely comfortable, situated within walking distance of all major sights and the Termini. Little gem of a restaurant opposite the hotel. will definitely stay here again.

Very good hotel for anyone who wants to stay near the train station. Convinient location to move around the city. Since it is near the train station lots of locals hang around, in my opinion that is good

We were there for the wedding of my friend. I would like to thank the manager for its kindly help during this period. The hotel is very close to the train and bus station and thus it is very easy to reach both the center city and the airport.

It was the first time that we stayed at the Ariston. The Hotel is very nice, the room was very comfortable as we had the luck to get an Superior Room for the same price as the normal double room. The service was good and the employees were very attentive, helpful and friendly all the time. Only the location near by the main station "Repubblica Termini" is not the nicest as this is always the problem with locations near by main train stations in big cities with its not so nice surroundings and lots of "strange" people.

This is never a 4star hotel, this needs to be reviewed,or others will be duped as well, also if you are booking a double room speak to the hotel before you go,and insist on a double bed, tryed to give us twin room after twin room and even offered to push the beds together for us if we wanted them to!!! finally upgraded us to a double

Very dissapointed in my stay...hotel is not as "designed" as pictures make it look. Check in staff not knowledgeable about Rome. Worst was I had a friend come to visit, they refused him entrance to the hotel...after I came to the lobby and got him...they sent a guard to pound on my door and evacuate him from my room. When questioning the front desk, the manager was very rude and said it was "illegal" to have anyone in my room...HORRIBLY HANDLED...WOULD NEVER SAY HERE AGAIN...FOR $119 EURO A NIGHT I EXPECT BETTER RESPECT...

This hotel is very nice, clean and looks similar to the pictures provided on-line. It's location is very convenient as it is 5 min on foot from the Termini station. However, at night, it seemed wiser to take a taxi as the area did not feel very safe. I will definitely go back to this hotel as the service was excellent and the employees accomodating.

Very convenient, located right near the train station. Service is good, friendly, generous. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. Better to ask for a room that is not facing the street, as the street below is lively at night.

The main thing in a room is the bed from my point of view (impossible to move once on it, feet outside, etc. I'm 1.8 m tall and I'm thin, so a common person in Europe.

This hotel was convenient to the train station, we had 2 triples, since there were 6 of us. Main beds were comfortable, but pullout uncomfortable for our son. Air conditioning not to US standard, air is a bit stuffy. Hallways a bit shabby, breakfast was good. Since we needed to take the train in and out of Rome, it served our purpose.
