Rooms teeny-tiny but I had a large balcony, breakfast adequate, service professional and friendly. The bathroom offered enough space and it was really fine if you are out all day sightseeing and shopping. End of the day, watch a bit of TV and fall into the firm bed. Felt safe, slept with the balcony doors open. Quiet street. Excellent location near Vatican and main shopping streets. Would do it again.

Staff was friendly and helpful. First room impressions wasn't good. Couldn't get internet working in our rooms... it was on/off (the best wifi reception was in the lobby). Fridge wasn't working (if you want to use it for kids milk), TV wasn't working, low on bathroom soaps and shampoos. Breakfast was very nice but a little short staffed. It was about 10min walk to Lepanto station, and also about 10min walk to the vatican and about 15min to spainish steps and big shopping stores.

I've been to Rome many times and prefer staying Trastevere at another Venere recommended hotel. This was great too. Very close to the Vatican and many other parts of Rome. The view from the Terrace of the Vatican dome is excellent and a wonderful setting any time of day to relax. The rooms are genuninely very nice. I had a single and, as with most Italian single rooms, it was small.

The room tith its maroon fabric patterned wall paper was awfully depressing. The bathroom was tiny. Breakfast wa so-so. Had to cancel the remaining 2 nights on the same day that we arrived. Unfortunately the staff on duty that night cant help and was directed to wait for the day staff instead. There was suppose to be wifi connection in the hotel but NON in the bedroom as well as in the rooftop terrace.

Hotel well-located for Vatican etc.; about 20 mins or so on foot from historical centre, and fairly near the metro line (more than the 300m claimed). Wifi only worked in the foyer, but not in rooms. Nice terrace area, but photos create the impression Vatican is closer than is actually the case. Would stay here again.

it was a nice stay. staff helpfull, room beautiful, good breakfast-but same everyday, also you have to pay for Italien coffe, but they have fresh orange juice, eggs, etc. continental breakfast-beautiful roof garden open to 2am. take the surrounding bars like that one in cicerone, close to the internetshop, they have good not expensive lunch.metro is about 15 min. to walk. prati is not dangerous at all, you can walk around at night but of course it is not the livley trastevere etc.hotel is good for coming back from exciting other places to relax.I felt very comfortable and would come back.

I found Hotel Arcangelo very convenient to the Vatican and to good restaurants. The desk staff were very helpful in recommending dining choices and giving directions. The breakfast buffet was nicely prepared and offers a nice range of breakfast choices - included in the room charge. The hotel is a good value and I would stay there upon my return to Rome - and recommend it to anyone visiting Rome and the Vatican.

Excellent wintertime value in a quiet, fairly convenient location. The pictures exaggerate the size of the room, and the "lobby" is in fact a basement lounge adjoining the attractive breakfast room. None of three staff people was able to help connect to WiFi when the twenty-character code didn't seem to work, but all were quite competent and helpful in other matters.

It was a nice hotel and convenient location for walking to the attractions we wanted. A safe in the room would have been good but used the safety deposit box they provided at the desk.

We paid a premium for this hotel because of its location and its high rating on Venere. The location was great, and the rooms were nicely furnished. The breakfast was very good, and the rooftop bar was a nice touch. However, our bathroom had quite a bit of mildew in the shower and toilet and sink smelled terrible. The shower drain backed up around our ankles and the front desk failed to get it plumbed after we requested it twice. Finally, the older desk clerk hassled me over forgetting to leave my key at the front desk when I left and the breakfast maid was terribly cranky to everyone. Long story short...this place is not worth the premium you pay for it. Stay somewhere else.

The hotel is in a very good location, close to Vatican, open deck tour bus stop, shopping, restaurants. Breakfast was simple, room has no heating when it was 5C in October ( the reason hotel staff said is that heating was not ready because it shouldn't be so cold in October ). The front desk staff is trying to help, but the tour bus company hotel recommended to us is the worst tour bus among the 6 bus companies in Rome, never on time and very unreliable (The bus company is Ciao Roma) We spent 45 minutes everytime waiting for the bus when other buses come in every 20 minutes. It really frustrated us. The hotel recommended limosine to airport was also late for 20 minutes and dropped us in the wrong terminal we almost didn't catch the flight home because of a traffic accident on highway. (if the limosine was on time, we might have avoid the traffic accident delay) Overall, my comment is when everything works out fine, it is a good hotel for the price you paid.

This was an excellent hotel for location and price. Upstairs open air garden quite pleasant and peaceful after long days of sightseeing in Rome. Staff gave excellent directions and were most accomodating. They recommended a eye glass repair store which fixed a very broken pair of glasses gratis. Location within 20 minute walk of Vatican and Spanish steps. Good department store type shopping within 5 minutes.

My "single" room was extremely small--much smaller than other "single" rooms in which I have stayed in Europe. That being said, there was a very peaceful roof garden, where you could relax after a long day, and the neighborhood was very accessible to the Vatican without any of the street noise one might expect. The staff was very helpful and courteous. I never saw a larger room, but my accommodations, while small, were very comfortable and tasteful. I could recommend this hotel for tourists looking for a mid-range price point.

Very nice hotel, walking distance from the Vatican, many nice restaurants in the area. The room we reserved was not available at our arrival. The situation was corrected to our satisfaction the next day. The staff was very courteous and helpfull. We highly recommend this hotel and, should we go back to Rome, we would certainly return to this hotel.

The room was nice, clean, quiet, had good air conditioning and was in a great area in terms of walking distance to the Vatican. I was in a single room, which was on the small side, but apart from that everything was perfect and the service of the staff there was outstanding - so helpful.

October 2008 - 2 couples - 60+ years - The Arcangelo Hotel was a very pleasant stay. It was 10 minutes to the Vatican and 10 minutes to the Metro station. The top floor, open-air garden was clean and pleasant to relax on. We were pleasantly surprised when the reservations stated breakfast not included and found that it was included. The people at the front desk spoke English and were very cordial. They even offered to let us check out and stored our bags for 5 hours while we made one last visit to the Vatican. The person in the breakfast area was very friendly. For meals, we found a delightful place, Lingua Lunga, at 25/25 via dei Gracchi, (about 4 blocks). It was open for lunch and early dinner. Prices were very good, food was very good and the waiters were friendly and translated the menu into English for us. I highly recommend both the Arcangelo and Lingua Lunga to anyone traveling to Rome. It is close to the metro to move around Rome and close to the Vatican for visitors to get there very easily.

I stayed there for two nights and thought it generally a good hotel. Close to all the sites and shopping. The roof garden was particularly great. The only thing I didn't like was the "instant" coffee machine in the morning. A coffee machine and Italy is an oxymoron. Every other hotel I stayed in had a proper Coffee/Cappuccino maker and the waitress made coffee for everyone. When you are staying in a "moderately" priced hotel, the coffee in the morning is a real pleaser.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed only one night, and it was memorable. We loved the roof garden (the hotel's elevator comes in handy after a day of walking around the Vatican Museum!) where one could look over the roofs of Rome and enjoy a splendid view of St. Peter's: a great place to end a wonderful day, with a bottle of fine Italian wine.
