This hotel had a very good location. It was pretty much in the center of the city but in a very quiet area and only a 20 minute walk to/from the train station. The breakfast was great. The single room was on the small side but kept very clean. The only minor problem was the air conditioning didn't work that well but it never got so bad that it was uncomfortable.

Our room was exceptionslly small, although our friends room was a bit larger. Our room was particularly noisey in the evening, as we had to leave the window open for ventilation (many people laughing & talking as they walked by the hotel until the wee hours) and couldn't get the A/C to work. The staff told us that the A/C wasn't available because the hotel was not full. Needless to say, it was a warm, noisey evevning. The breakfast area was on their roof garden with seating both inside & out. It was charming and their cappucinos were delicious! Nice selection for breakfast.

I've given this hotel ten out of ten for all its services. We traveled to Rome for the first time and were so impressed by this place, our room was clean and quiet, and the breakfast was superb, the best cappuccinos in Rome by far! We would definitely recommend it and go back and stay there again ourselves.

The hotel is nice, the staff are very welcoming. By thw way, the quality of breakfast is the highest among the other hotels during I stayed in Italy. And the place for breakfast is very cozy which is at the rooftop.

The people at the desk were extremely nice, however did not speak much English. We were able to communicate with broken Italian and made it work. The location is awesome! The Colosseum is a few blocks away and the Colosseo and Cavour metro stops were very close. We also walked to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Quirinale. Great location!! We booked the suite and it was well worth the $140 euro. Very spacious with private terrace. Breakfast was very nice. Would stay here again if we make it back to Rome.

Failed to use internet service (both wi-fi and cable) on weekend. The receptioist appeared helpless and unaware about the service. Selecetion of in-room TV channels was unsufficient for international travellers (need more in languages other tham Italian)

Stayed for 4 nights. Room comfortable, better than what expected for the price. Very central, close to main attractions. Rome has a very good public transport and hotel is 5 min walk from two bus stops. Staff very friendly and available. Very good continental breakfast. Thanks for everything.

We loved this hotel. We stayed in the upper level suite with a private terrace and it was definetely worth the money. The location was perfect and the staff was just great. We are looking forward to staying at the Apollo again. Internet access in the room was the only thing lacking.

The Hotel was perfectly situated within the City and not too far from the Train station. There were 6 of us travelling together (in 3 rooms). Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a beautiful start to the day. The capuccino's were excellent too. There were many great restaurants close by to the Hotel. The rooms at the front of the building (on the main road) were a bit noisier with the garbage cans being emptied at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m., however, would still not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anyone.

If you are looking to walk to most historical sites in Rome this is a great place to stay. The Colosseum is at the end of the street and its a short walk to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Quattro Fontana and much more. There are a few good restaurants right down the street as well as shopping and ATM. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone headed to Rome.

It was a small, family-run hotel. The room was rather spacious, clean and quiet although the shower corner was very, very small. The breakfast at the roof top terrace was nice. Although the hotel did not encash euro travelers check, the hotel showed me a money changer at five minutes walk who encashed T/C with a reasonable three percent commission. There was a super market at a few minutes walk from the hotel. There were several bus stops along the near main street and we used bus and subway services very often.

This was my third visit to Rome and I wanted to be near the Forum. The Apollo was a fantastic hotel. We were a family of 7, 1 single, 1 couple, 1 couple and 17 month old and the "old folks". Massimo and his family could not have been more helpful or nicer. The hotel was lovely, well situated, the rooms were very nice and the breakfast was superb! We will always stay at the Apollo when we return to Rome. I can't imagine a better location or a warmer welcome. Massimo, we love you!!!

My stay at the Apollo Hotel in Rome was just what I wanted. Close to the Metro and walking distance to many areas, it is family run and they were happy to help with arrangements and reservations. The hotel is very conveniently located, clean, modern and quiet. The breakfast was very nice with a varied array of selections. I would recommend this to friends and would stay there again.

The Apollo was a good choice for a mid-priced, clean, well run hotel in Rome, where it is hard to find something decent at this price. Breakfast on the rooftop garden was good, although a bit sparse if you get there late. Room and bathroom were very clean, staff was friendly and helpful. A few complaints, but minor ones--one light was missing a bulb, towels were thin, and TV didn't work but the remote probably just needed a new battery which we didn't bother asking for as we didn't need the TV anyway. Overall, a good bargain for Rome. We walked everywhere, although it is quite a hike to Spanish Steps area. This was our third trip to Rome, just spent a few days there before heading north to Venice and Lake Como. Were glad to get away from the hustle and bustle of Rome, even though we love it!

Great location. Walking distance to major attractions and metro station. Good clean rooms and nice rooftop breakfast. Only negatives - towels (very thin), would not turn on air-conditioning when asked so room very warm at night & had to open window but nosiy outside ... could not print from the pc in reception.

Exactly as expected from the info on Venere. Recently renovated. Double room at front fairly small, but adequate (there are larger)and being on a side street, very quiet for Rome. Service from the family owners efficient rather than friendly- we did not need any advice or services. Breakfast OK but rather basic for international travellers. Would stay again.

On our trip to Italy, my family and I stayed in 2 different Rome hotels, and only 1 night at the Apollo. I would stay there again if I had the opportunity. The family that runs it is wonderful, the rooms were the best we had anywhere - spacious, clean, and well furnished, and the Colosseum is within easy walking distance of the hotel. Grazie! I would recommend Hotel Apollo to anyone, young or mature.

Everything about the Apollo was pleasant, given that it's a budget hotel and you don't expect much as a single traveler. Public areas are close to nil, but breakfast was served in a roof garden full of jasmine. It's near the station but on a side street and there are good restaurants all around. I would use it again as a base for all sorts of activities in central Rome.

Hotel Apollo is located right in the middle of Rome, with bus stop around the corner to get to all important places. The room was very small but with everything I needed (the bath was nearly bigger than the room itself). I got a room to the back yard, so there was no noise at all. The breakfast on the top of the roof was good. An excellent place to stay in Rome when you just want to see a lot of places and not spending much time at the hotel.

This is a family owned hotel in a great location for visiting all the sites of Rome by foot (one day we walked for six hours and saw nearly everything) or on the "Hop on hop off" bus which leaves from the Forum (at the bottom of the road). The bed and bathrooms are well appointed and, since we were located at the back, quiet. Rooms overlooking the road might be noisier. The owners were really helpful and friendly although they do not speak a lot of English. We loved the rooftop breakfast room and the breakfast buffet was fresh and plentiful. There is a great restaurant just around the corner "Tavernelle" which has a full range of Italian dishes, but specializes in seafood. We would definitely go back to the Apollo Hotel and recommend it to anyone else

It was a great hotel. It is centrally located to the Colisseum and not far from the Trevi Fountain. It is a quiet street but accessible to good shopping on Via Nazionale street. We were able to walk to most of the locations. The hotel is very clean and the service is very good. It is family owned, their english is limited but they are still very helpful. We received maps, they will call reasonable taxis, and they gave us great suggestions for restaurants. They are very accomdating. I would defintely stay again. Also, the breakfast on the rooftop was a nice addition. I would highly recommend the hotel

Hotel Apollo was great! The staff was very friendly, most of them spoke English, they were very helpful with info about buses, taxis, attractions, etc. There is a room offering internet access. Breakfast was good - lots of fruit, cereal, rolls, juices, cold cuts, cheeses, American coffee (they will happily make capacino or espresso). No bacon/eggs but we're not in the USA! Our room was fine, with Tv, safe, refrig. The maids made it up daily. Bathroom was huge - small shower but par for Europe. Location was ideal - you can see the Colesseum from the hotel (maybe 6 blocks away). It's an easy stroll to Trevi, a little farther to Spanish Steps, Parthenon, Piazza Narvona, etc. Easy bus connection to the Vatican. Several restaurants within 1-2 blocks - also great gelato store. The price was as advertised which was very reasonable for Rome. We would definitely stay here again.

Our overall experience at the Apollo was very positive. Staff were very helpful, and ready to answer any questions we had. They offered help to arrange tours, and they contacted a driver with a large van to drive us to the airport, at a reasonable price. We had a suite for 4 people, which was pretty large and comfortable, and had its own terrace. The air conditioner worked perfectly. Another couple that travelled with us had the suite for 2, which was also nice but their bathroom was very small. Breakfast was Ok, the setting in the terrace was nice, and staff were welcoming and courteous.

We were on a birthday trip to Rome, for the first time. Location of hotel is very good being close to the old parts and sights. Surroundings have good service with shops, restaurants and piazzas. Bus traffic also good with a small electric bus going to central locations. The bed was too narrow and soft for two persons. We bothed "rolled" into the middle because it was so soft. We are a couple from Finland and are used to a breakfast with cold cuts, dark bread and something fresh. The cuts were OK but bread was white rolls every morning. No vegetables were served and all the cereals were with added sugar.

Slightly apprehensive after reading one review which stated it was the worst hotel they had stayed in but we found it to be great. A brilliant location for exploring Rome on foot, which is what we did for 6 days, some nice restaurants nearby, easy access to the sights of Rome, the shopping area and the central station. The hotel was comfortable and quiet but if you are used to a big chain then the facilities here won't compete. Breakfast on the roof terrace was very nice with a good choice on offer. Looking out of the hotel window to the end of the street and the Colosseum was what we wanted and what we got.

Unfortunately our stay was too brief - just overnight before catching our flight back home the next morning. But the staff were extremely helpful - immediately taking care of a taxi reservation for us to get to the airport the following morning. The location was terrific - so close to many sights, and with several good restaurants nearby. I would certainly recommend the Apollo to friends, and stay here again myself whenever I am in Rome. This was a great place to stay in Rome.Location was great.Close to all major sites.all within walking distance, even the vatican. The hotel's breakfast was very nice, specially the cappucino and the fresh carrot juice.Staff was nice and helpful.Specially Alessandro, who was always there with helpful suggestions for restaurants, how to get to places(even circled on maps). Also good to know specially for family with children that there are 2 types of pharmacy in italy. The one with red cross is for emergency as well and has a doctor available. What we did not like though was (1)While the room was clean, the sheets were only changed twice during our 5 nights stay, the day we got there on monday and on thursday.I did ask for fresh sheets on day 3 but was told to wait until the next day.Should have gone to Alessandro.(2)The biggest put off was we felt the owner was being pushy about the taxi. His price was higher. We booked with Alessandro for cheaper and when we told him he said that Alessandro did not know anything. He was not pleased. I will definitely recommend this hotel.Just try to book your own taxi so that you are not stuck on the day you leave.

We would reat the Apollo a 10+. It's a great location. Close to the Coliseum. In fact you can walk anywhere except maybe the Vatican and you can take the bus there. The rooms are beautiful, clean, new, comfortable and the air conditioning works. The owners are wonderful people. Most of the staff speaks fluent English and Max makes a great Cappicino. The breakfast which is more than adequate is served in a charming rooftop dining area. We would highly recommend it and if we ever return to Rome would definitely stay there again. I looked for several days for the perfect hotel at the right price for a special family holiday. I chose the Apollo partly due to the excellent ratings and feedback from guests, which we found to be very beneficial and true. The Apollo did not dissappoint and we will return there when we visit Rome in the future. The hotel is so well located and as the weather was extremely hot it was great to pop back in the midddle of the day. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the staff were very helpful and spoke English. On arrival we took the train to Termini and walked the 15 minutes to the hotel no problem. Due to an early morning return flight the hotel booked a taxi for us to the airport 50 Euros which was much appreciated. A memorable trip for all the right reasons.

Masimo can speak english quite well. They are extremely friendly and helpful. The roof breakfast area is very nice with both and indoor and outdoor area. The room had been recently renovated and looked nice. It was not spacious but also was not cramped (we had 3 suitcases) but had been recently upgraded and looked nice. A cool feature is that you can see the coloseum at the end of the road (about a 7-10 min walk).

This was our second visit to Rome, and the first at this hotel. We stayed a total of 12 nights here. As we had the No. 1 Suite, the room itself was spectacular with a balcony overlooking the street below. The room was exactly as photographed on the web. The furnishings were quite modern and up to date (European style)in the bath area. There were two dual air-conditioning units (one in the bedroom and one in the living room)which were activated and controlled by remote units which took me a couple of days to figure out how to operate...but this wasn't an issue of the hotel ! There was a flat screen TV and small refrigerator. The breakfast in the morning was served on the rooftop by the excellent staff, the majority of which spoke English to augment my basic Italian. The staff was very helpful with us to arrange taxi's when needed and give us directions to other services. This is a family owned and operated hotel and all the members were friendly and helpful. I had been sunburned early in the trip and there was a Pharmacia a few doors down. There were good restaurants away from the hotel in both directions. There is a small family owned bodega where you can buy food and wine etc.on the same side as the Hotel entrance. The major positive of the hotel is it's location. Heading south the Flavian Amphitheater and valley with the start of the Forum was about 600 yds away. That is also close to the remains of the Golden House of Nero, and surviving bits of the Baths of Titus and Trajan. Heading the opposite direction, you hit the Via Nazionale at the top of the street. From there you can walk to the National Museums and the ruins of the Baths of Diocletian along with the Train Station. You are just east of the main monuments of Trajan (column, markets etc.). We paid top $ / E for the suite, but it was well worth it in our view. Noise was not a factor. On the way to breakfast, a look inside other rooms that were open gave me the impression that they were

The hotel staffwere friendly, the room was good and, even though on the front, reasonably quiet.Breakfast on the roof terrace is definitely a feature. The air conditioning may not have been working but temperatues were OK without.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is in a good location especially if you are interested in visiting the Roman Forum area. Having breakfast in the rooftop terrace was a nice touch. Overall, good value for money.

Location of Apollo very good, in a pleasant, quiet part of the city but not too far from most of the attractions. All but one of the reception staff spoke excellent English which is not what we were let to believe from comments we read on your website. Because of the Italian air traffic controllers` strike our flight was cancelled and we had to fly a day later than planned. I did ring the hotel in the morning as soon as I knew so they had some notice but they still insisted on us paying for the night we weren`t there which under the circumstances I did feel a little mean (our English hotel near Heathrow did refund the charge for the room we didn`t use there). If we return to Rome I would certainly use the Apollo again.

This was our first visit to Rome. Staying at the Apollo was lovely. The location was perfect, very near to the Colloseum, many fabulous restaurants and bars. We could walk to most everything. The room was spacious and very clean. The front desk people, Alex and Paulo were great and very helpful. Breakfast, which was included was on the roof and delightful. Most delicious in a beautiful setting. The hotel was one of the highligths of our trip. Highly recommend.

This hotel is a perfect choise if you want to stay in the center of the city and dont' want to overpay for it. Staff was very friendly, rooms were ready at 10am, breakfast was very good, but the best thing about this hotel was its location. You will love it.

This may sound strange, but I think that in many ways this is a very attractive hotel that has many virtues and, generally, a competent and friendly staff. My argument is with a kind of catch-22 that was erected by Venere and by the hotel management that made it impossible for me to leave a day early. Once we arrived it was impossible to avoid having to pay for an extra day. The management of the hotel was obtuse, even though I spoke in Italian and English, and (even more irritating) Venere was impossible to reach. I have learned a very expensive lesson by staying at Apollo.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Apollo. The location is wonderful for walking to many sites in Rome as well as convenient to a metro stop (Cavour) and many excellent restaurants. Alex was especially helpful during our stay since the airline lost our luggage. He helped us find places to buy essentials, as well as giving us advice for dealing with the airline. The breakfast at the Apollo was also the best we had at any hotel in Italy, as well as the most beautiful setting. We highly recommend staying here!

The location of this hotel was optimal. We could easily walk to all of the major sites in Rome such as the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Forum, Piazza del Popolo, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. There are many shops around the hotel that sell fresh bread, groceries, cheese, wine, etc. so you can bring a few goodies back to your hotel room. The front desk even opened our bottle of wine for us! The rooms were so clean and spacious compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Rome. The hotel booked a ride for us to the airport for 40 euros which is a very reasonable price. The driver picked us up on time and delivered us to the airport with no problems. The hotel accepts credit cards which may not seem like a big deal, but many hotels in Rome make you pay in euros which is very inconvenient. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and if I were to visit Rome again, I would stay here.

Overall our stay at the Apollo was excellent, we particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the roof terrace. Our only criticism would be that for that kind of money we would have liked a little more variety at the breakfast buffet, eggs perhaps would have been appreciated.

Hotel owner managed reception but had very limited English, he did upgrade us to a fantastic suite with its own roof terrace though. The lift was incredibly small and rickety, not for those of a nervous disposition. Don't be taken in by photos of the Collesium apparently only yards from the hotel entrance, it was at the end of the road but it was a very long road. Shower leaked appallingly, bathroom floor was constantly under water, when I reported it the owner's son seemed to know all about it but no action had been taken.

Our stay at the Apollo was excellent. The only downside was we were on the street side of the hotel and they did not actually have working air conditioner, so we had to leave the window open and it was very noisy. After one night we were a bit used to it, but ask for the back if you can. The staff is great, the room was perfect, the breakfast was very good, especially the cappuccino.. The best part about this hotel is that it is centrally located and close to a metro stop. We had no trouble getting around at all. I would recommend this hotel without a doubt. Thank you Hotel Apollo.

Very good hotel. Our room was on the back side and so very quiet, if somewhat dark. The staff was friendly. Our only communication language with them was english and it wasn't always easy; they couldn't speak french or german. Nice breakfast on the roof terrace. 15 min walking distance from Termini train station. Near the forum and central Rome. A nice way to discover Rome is to use the 110 bus line: a double-decker with stop-and-go system; 10 min waiting time between each bus; maybe somewhat expensive: 20 euros for 2 days. Unless you have a good book-guide do not hesitate to use an audio-guide during your visits at the Coliseum and the Therms.

As others have suggested, rooms on the street are quite noisy, between scooter traffic and people on the street. We stayed for five nights and were able to change to an inside room after the first night. Breakfast area is lovely, and staff were friendly and helpful. Owners do not speak much English, so this gave me a chance to practice my little Italian. Liked the neighborhood.
