Bed was very hard - like sleeping on concrete. Both rooms were too hot (27C) and could not get them any colder. Do not get room 501 as has no opening window! Excellent location near station and Metro.

The rooms were as the photos suggested apart from the fact they were quite small with a tiny bathroom. The breakfast was adequate but the same food every day. The reception staff were quite unfriendly and the area in which the hotel is situated is dirty and not very desirable. The hotel is described as 4 star but overall I would call it 3 star and not worth the money they were charging.

Great Hotel, Excellent helpful staff, good location, except for the street is on, it is a bit seedy.

Only negative is that the hotel is a little hard to find. So enter the Termini and go to the right hand side of the building. Follow the tracks ALL THE WAY down to platrorms 25-29. When you reach the end of the Termini take a sharp right and go down the stairs exiting the station at the SPAR shop door.Go straight across the road keeping the rear of the SAS Radisson hotel on your left at the next junction take a left. The hotel is across the road on your right hand side. Hope this helps

Hotels in Rome tend to be rather indifferent at best, but Ambra is an honorable exception. The best hotel we know in Rome. Clean, new, friendly, and reasonably quiet, with sounproof windows. It is located in a somewhat seedy ethnic area, but hopefully it is safe. Unfortunately, the hotel hiked up its rates quite a bit this year.

The stay at Ambra was very good - nice room and very good value considering the prices in Rome. Very good service and breakfast. To be recommended! The only negative comment I have is the location which is in a pretty rough area near the Termini station and I would recommend to use a taxi to/from the hotel in the evenings.

Il carico/scarico dei materiali che si svolge alle 5.30 di mattina davanti all'ingresso,è molto rumoroso ed impedisce assolutamente il riposo notturno.

Indeed the surroundings is rather more Indian and Chinese than Italian, however the hotel in itself is really nice. Employees very competent and sympathic. However, I would rather book an hotel located in the center of the city next time, since we need to take taxis (nice and not expensive) or bus and subway (crappy).

Even though the neighborhood wasn't all to pleasent - the service and the competency of the staff as well as the clean and nice rooms made our stay at the Hotel a perfect one.

Wunderbarer Aufenthalt! Wir hatten einen Superior-Room und dieser war wirklich sehr gut. Metro ist direkt um die Ecke und Termini ist ebenfalls in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Personal spricht sehr gut Englisch. Frühstück sehr reichhaltig. Wir werden wiederkommen!

Great hotel, especially taking into account the price. Pleasant and clean rooms; great breakfast buffet; professional and friendly staff that make you feel comfortable... The surroundings are kind of "pictoresque", but they don't seem really dangerous, and the hotel is two minutes from the station (side entrance for the trains to the airport: buy your tickets in the bookshop, before you go up to the platform, it's incredible but they're cheaper!!). Definitely, if we go back to Rome we'll stay in this hotel again.

A superb small hotel with well-decorated, fitted and air-conditioned (needed in a Roman August!) rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Public areas done as well as the rooms. Breakfast superb. Hotel is close to Termini train station so convenient for getting to airport or other parts of Italy and is 200m from the nearest metro station to get you into the heart of Rome. Only downside is that you are in the middle of a relatively run-down immigrant area but everyone was friendly enough and it added colour.

The hotel is new and really state of the art. The location, while close to the main railwya & walkable to the major sights & the metro was a liitle rough at night.

My only concern was with the neighborhood, which seemed a little sketchy, though we had no problems at all. The rooms were spacious for European standards and the "Superior Double" was downright roomy!

Having read in a guide book that the train station area was the last place you wanted to stay in Rome we approached the Hotel Ambra Palace with some trepidation and certainly the area on the approach is not the best but we were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. The reception was speedy and helpful but what was even better was the size and quality of the room we had. We had booked a superior double and for the relatively low price it was excellent in every detail. As there was a metro station just behind the hotel the location in the end did not matter to us. I would highly recommend this hotel for its quality and service.

When I arrived at the hotel and opened the door, a receptionest welcomed me adressing my name. That service(?)was surprising & great! (I guess ...even though I was one of few Japanese customers [= having unfamiliar name to European] and possibly easier to recognise me that day.) And I enjoyed very much a welcome drink at the bar...fantastic. I was happy to stay there with a slightly cheaper rate with a warm & qualified service. Grazie mille!!

The Ambra Palace is a lovely hotel with good clean rooms, helpful staff, a nice bar to relax in at the end of a long day sightseeing, and a great breakfast. The surrounding area is not great but it is very convenient for the main Termini station and is very close to the Metro station.
