We needed something close to the Vatican for a one night stay. Location was incredible, as was the quad room, and the breakfast the next day. Could not have been happier with the arrangements. It was the high point of our trip!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel Alimande Viale Vaticano was a wonderful, smaller hotel directly across the street from Vatican City. The rooms were large, clean and modern. Our only minor complaint was that the constant buzz of mopeds and traffic could be heard at night - despite what looks like the hotel's best effort to soundproof the windows. However, I'm sure you would have the same issues at most other places that are located in a busy part of town. The hotel had a nice breakfast in the mornings and provided complimentary wi-fi. They also had a shuttle service to and from the airport for 5 euro each way - which was a great deal. It's not an ideal location if you want to stay in the central part of Rome, but perfect for easy access to Vatican City. Overall, this was an excellent place and we would stay again.

There is no any life around the hotel. there is no any room service. Even sandviches or something like this. I will never stay at this terrible place, which is only for very old priests or religian travellers becouse it's very close to Vatican.

The hotel was extremely clean, right across the street from the Vatican Museum. Personnel was very pleasant and helpful providing information, maps, shuttle service to airport. Rooms were great...no rugs so noise echoed somewhat. Breakfast was also included...bonus.Stayed here with my family (husband and 4 children) and it worked out great for us.

Hotel is right next to vatican. Great location for walking. We only had one night but had a nice 2 bed quad (family with 2 teens). Directions were not the greatest to get to but is in hindsight not difficult to get to. We've been to Rome many times and would stay here again. Not in city center but walkable in 20 minutes or easy cab or train.

This is our second visit to this property. We were here last year at the same time. Last year, we had two rooms. This year, we booked a family room. To our pleasant surprise, since we were returning guests, the management upgraded us to the family room AND another room at no additional charge. It is an excellent hotel, right across from the Vatican Museum, two blocks from the subway, and the staff are quite good.

4 star Alamandi lived up to all the reviews on the web. We were directly opposite the Vatican museum and watched the early morning queues build up as the receptionist told us that the best time to go would be 1pm. St. Peter's nearby just around the Vatican wall. We stayed three nights and two of our party enjoyed the luxurious suite. Breakfast was great too and the reception staff spoke perfect English and provided us with much information and maps. Would recommend this hotel without any doubt. We four guests give it 10/10!

Wonderful hotel. Clean, spacious, luxurious. Excellent location right across the street from the Vatican Museum and close to the Metro for easy access to all of Rome's sights. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone without hesitation. You won't be disappointed.

This is an excellent hotel. I have been to Rome a number of times and in terms of room size, location and overall value this is the best I have stayed in. In terms of location, it touches the Vatican walls and is within a couple of minutes walk from a Metro. Veneto or the Spanish Steps might allow you to access a great number of sites easily but this was considerably better value. By Roman standards the rooms were very large. The breakfast that is mentioned frequently in other reviews was excellent. We also found the staff to be extremely helpful. A glass of wine on the roof terrace overlooking the Vatican walls is an excellent way to complete an evening.

Lets see.. by far the best hotel we have stayed in. I say this for these reasons, and in this order. The STAFF, the ROOMS, the LOCATION, and The BREAKFAST. We had a King sup. Room for my parents, it was a corner room, and very nice. Myself, Husband, and two boys stayed in a double sup. With ample room to spare. We looked out our windows and the Vatican tour door was right there. This made for a non hectic start on tour morning. Simply ate our graciouse breakfast, then strolled across the street. The Staff, they are all very kind helpful people. We give and extra nod to Nicco, he was our greatest help, and an excelent bartender!!! My husband and I enjoyed his helpful hints for dinning, and his conversation while my husband and I had a nightcap at the bar. The garage rate is very fair, 10.00 euro a day. They take the car there, and when you are ready to use it, during your stay, and/or at the end, they bring it right to you. Our family left Rome with such a pleased and content feeling. This was greatly due to the Hotel Alimandi and its staff. Bravo!!!!!

We enjoyed our trip to Rome very much. We were delighted with the Hotel Almandi Vaticano. The location was great, we found it close to some major tourist locations like the Vatican Museum and a short walk to St. Peter's Square. The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was excellent. Each day we were greeted with a friendly face and someone who was eagar to here about our plans or suggest something fun for us to do. We really appreciated their knowledge of the city. They suggested many good restaurants. The breakfast was lovely each day. The staff in the breakfast room were sweet and I enjoyed seeing them every day. We were there for 9 days and it was a trip of a lifetime! The only downfall was a little traffic noise from the street below.

We spent four nights at the hotel and enjoyed the entire trip. We thought the hotel was excellent and the staff at the front desk was some of the best we have experienced anywhere. We would quickly stay here again on future trips. We had no problems with the reservation (although I would include the airport transfer in the reservation on future trips). We arrived before the noted check-in time and the staff graciously offered a room early. The room was spacious with a large bathroom. It contained all the modern conveniences that we expected and everything worked properly. Although located on a busy street, we had no problems with the outside noise at night. The location is more convenient for the Vatican than for some of the other tourist sites, but the transportation (Metro, bus, and taxi) was very convenient and allowed us to travel the entire city easily. The breakfast was above average with different cooked foods every day, plenty of fruit and cheese, many cereal and pastry choices, juices and different types of coffee. For a small hotel, we were very pleased. Also, the bar and roof garden were good places to reminisce about the day's activities. The staff at the front desk was able to handle all our requests -- from the best local places to eat, to how to obtain the desired tours, to how to travel to other locations in Italy. If they had free time, they were also willing to sit down and discuss Italian and American cultures or current events. This was a very nice, small hotel that catered to its clients!

We only stayed for 1 night, but wished we could have stayed for longer! We got a Junior Suite, which was extremely spacious, modern, had a huge bed and was so quiet, considering it's on a busy street and right opposite the entrance to the Vatican. The lady at the desk when we arrived was very helpful, and even said that if we got lost in the city or needed any help, to call her. If you're going to go to the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's, etc, you can't get a better location. The breakfast was amazing! The best and most abundant we had on our entire trip! We would definitely stay there again!

A wonderful hotel in a fabulous historic location. Only a short walk to the Vatican and other attractions in the eternal city. We stayed in a double superior room which had everything in that we wanted. Will certainly return to this hotel and will book through Venere.com - the information and service provided were exceptional.

This hotel was everything promised on the Venere website and more. This should probably rank as a 5 star hotel. All amenities were fabulous, including a great breakfast which even my picky kids had what to eat, free WiFi connection in our rooms (Which we found to be a rarity in most hotels we stayed in during this trip to Italy), a great location right next to the Vatican museum and a two minute walk to the Metro subway line, and a very clean, well laid out room. The staff were nice and welcoming and gave excellent recommendations of local restaurants, bus routes, and times o visit certain high demand tourist sites. I couldn't say enough good things about Alimande Viale Vaticano.

Hotel Alimandi is fantastic. The location is perfect. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff is courteous and helpful. Our bags did not arrive at Fiumicino and could not be located but the staff at Hotel Alimandi tracked the issue for us. Their efforts resulted in the bags being found and delivered while we spent our time worry free enjoying Rome. I highly recommend this hotel.

Was our last stop before going home from a 12 nite cruise. Just wanted to see the Vatican. What a great location, right across the street from the museum entrance where all the tours meet. Beautiful rooms. Quiet at night when the Vatican is closed. It was the perfect location and hotel. Would recommend it!

This is a very modern, reasonably priced and well run hotel, right next to the Vatican and extremely close to public transportation. The rooms are quiet and well airconditioned. The breakfast is very good and the property even has an ice maker (which can be somewhat rare in Italy). The free shuttle service to and from the alone is a tremendous value.

We were only here for one night since our intention was to rest after a long flight and then rent a car and drive into Tuscany. The room was very nice, large, clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and quiet despite being across from the Vatican museums. The breakfast was the best we had in our three week trip to Italy. Actual fresh tasting scrambled eggs and very tasty bacon. We loved it. The hotel staff were great. The owner, his son and another young man (I'm sorry I don't remember their names) were very helpful. I couldn't get my Italian sim card to work in my phone and they fixed that. Then the owner was very helpful in directing us to the rental car office and then helping us to park, and watching the car while we retrieved out luggage. Then he gave us better instuctions than our GPS for getting out of Rome to the highway. This is a great place to stay if you are interested in the Vatican and adjacent areas. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful room! Wonderful breakfast! We loved our stay at this hotel. It was very close to the Vatican Museum (just across the street) and close to St. Peter's. The hotel staff was very helpful in giving us guidance during our stay. The shuttle service from the airport to the hotel saved us over 40 euros for a taxi. The room was spacious and clean. The prices for the items in the minibar were very reasonable. The air conditioner kept the room very cool. Others have mentioned the noise from Viale Vaticano. Even though our room faced the street, we slept very well and I am a light sleeper. With the air conditioning running, the noise from the street was muted. We would stay here the next time we are in Rome. We booked early and were glad we did since the hotel was sold out. Highly recommend this hotel!

A very nice hotel in a good location. Excellent breakfasts and helpful staff. Obviously handy for the vatican and vatican museum but also near plenty of bus routes for key Rome locations, and metro. Some good nearby restaurants though the one recommended by hotel staff was the least good we visited. The quad room we had was the same size as a double - it's large for a double (two Queen size beds) but a bit tight for a quad. Would happily come again though.

Staff were friendly and helpful breakfasts were excellent plenty to choose from. Location of hotel means there is some traffic noise but after first night of four night stay didn't bother us. We had junior suite which on web site doesn't show the sitting room also had private balcony.Just off main square we ate at Chinese restaurant good value for money more that can be said of the Trevi restaurant which didn't show a cover charge of 6 euros per person and the beer was 10 euros for a glass smaller than a pint. Chicken and potatoes were dried chicken with soggy chips and I have tossed fresher salad away. However for a daytime snack try the Cafe Trevi for Panini's and coffee. I would recommend the hotel and Rome to anyone who likes historic sites stay a week to see more

We had an excellent stay. Staff was outstanding in answering our requests. They even arranged for rental car to be picked up at hotel. Breakfast wes bountiful. Room 305 was terrific for 4 persons and had a balcony overlooking the Vatican walls and entrance to Sistine Chapel entrance. It was our first stay and would definitely recommend it. Lots of restaurants in the area. Hotel does not serve dinner. Lunch on occasional basis. Some problems with internet connections. English widely spoken by all the staff.

What a lovely hotel it was just as the pictures on the internet. Very clean, staff were very helpful and the breakfast was ample, we didn't need lunch until late afternoon. I booked this up as a surprise for my partners 40th and we went along with some friends so I was a bit nervous that they would all be happy with my choice but they were more than and we had a brilliant time. I would defintely recommend this hotel although if you're not keen on walking be prepared to take taxis into the centre as its about a 25 minute walk which didn't bother us as we were lucky with the weather and it was nice to walk off the lovely meals we had. The vatican museums and St Pauls are right on your doorstep though. Although our rooms didn't have balconies there were balconies right opposite our rooms with table and chairs for all to use and a lovely roof terrace which we made use of while the sun was out chilling out after our day sightseeing with a glass of wine. Would like to go back again one day and would not hesitate in booking a room at the alimandi vaticano.

Amazing location if you want to do the Vatican Tour from the viale vatticano entrance - literally across the road. Not an ideal location for the famous shopping of via Frattini etc..this requires transportation to get there. Rooms were fantastically clean and spacious and staff were mainly very accommodating. Unfortunately the SKY system was not working while we stayed and it was difficult to keep our 6year old entertained all evening in the room (weather in Rome was bad so we did not venture out). We also had additional party members arriving at 9pm and they were told at the desk that they could ordere dinner in the restaurant. They left bags to their room and then we went down to the restaurant to eat. We were told it had closed and they could not take our order. Overall a good stay with a few hic-cups!!

location was great - across street from entrance to Vatican museum. Short walking distance to Vatican City square and Basilica. Close to bus transportation. Complimentary shuttle to airport was great - especially saving tax fare. Well maintained building - we were in the newly renovated (acquired 3 years ago) building that was bought by the original hotel. Exceptional hot breakfast included in room rate. Meal held us until supper time. Staff was very helpful.

It was our first time in Rome and we really enjoyed it. We stayed in a spacious triple room with very comfortable beds and a view of the impressing Vatican walls. With the street in front of the hotel, it was a bit noisy, but as soon as we closed our window and switched on the airconditioning, it was calm. Breakfast was outstanding regarding quality, quantity and variety of dishes offered - a perfect start into the day with a very friendly service. Also at the reception desk, we always got friendly, helpful information and service whenever requested (citymap, public transport, taxi, restaurants etc). Brilliant hotel, excellent location, literally over the road from the Vatican Museum. Just a five minute walk from St Peters Square and the bus stops for the open top bus tours is also located outside the square. All the queues for the Vatican and the Colosseum are about 2-3 hours long and cost about 13 euros. I would advise that you join an organised tour, it costs about 30-40 euros each which sounds a lot but you dont have to join the main queue and you get the advantage of a qualified tour guide and a headset explaining everything. This is a good idea as there is so much to see you probably wouldnt know what you were looking at plus time waiting in queues only eats into your time especially if you are only there for a couple of days. The taxis are reasonable but the drivers dont speak english and drive like Nigel Mansell!. Be careful of accepting roses from venders as they give you them and then stand there waiting for you to pay them. We gave them 4 euros and they thought that wasnt enough. Restaurants vary in price but are usually priced up outside. When you have paid the bill try and make sure you dont need a lot of change back as they dont know the meaning o giving back your change unless you ask, they think its a a big tip. Some bars are very expensive so have a quick look before you order. We ordered two lagers and two cappuccinos outside the vatican and it cost us 26 euros!!. All the sites trevi, spanish steps are located over the river from this hotel but the taxis costs about 5-7 euros so it isnt too bad. Overall the rooms are lovely, very clean we were advised to choose a room at the back becasuse it was noisy at the front, but i dont think this is the case in August as all the romans seem to go on holiday and in their eyes the city is quiet. I would definatley go again to the vaticano, lovely staff and welcome, well worth the money.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Hotel Alimandi. It was the end of a beautiful 3 week vacation in Italy and it ended on a very possitive note. The room was spotless, and although we were on the Viale Vaticano there was never a problem with noise! Breakfast was amazing - what a way to start a day! Location was perfect - opposite the doors to the Vatican. 5 minuite walk to St. Peters Square and a 10 minuite bus ride to the center of town. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. I would recommend this hotel with my eyes closed! Also, a must do... the Roman forum tour - with Roman Oddesy tours. See their website!

Family of 4 stayed at Alimandi for the 2nd time in 7/07. Stayed previously in 7/05. Came back a 2nd time because it is a top notcjh hotel. Convenience to the Vatican can not be beat. Our family had the best room which has a private balcony looking out onto the street where you can see the tourists lining up in front of the entrance to the Vativan Museum. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, internet available in lobby, free breakfast which is outstanding. If we go back to Rome for a 3rd time we would stay again at hte Alimandi Vaticano. Convenient to transportation (walking distance). Some of the tourist sites are a little out of the way with the exception of the Vatican but the price, service and overall hotel experience outweighs that. Excellent hotel, great value.

A lovely hotel, but REALLY expensive. The breakfast is impressive and it is just across the street from the Vatican Museum entrance -- but that means it's a pretty good walk to EVERYTHING else. This hotel is awesome!!! I've stayed in Rome once before, and you never know the quality of the hotel from booking it online. Hotel Alimandi's quality is excellent. If you travel in Europe, you know that hotels' "star ratings" are not equal to U.S. standards; however, this hotel will exceed expectations. The free buffet breakfast is wonderful (many selections, hot and cold). The room was spacious and comfortable. We literally had a few of the Vatican entrance (the hotel is directly across from the Vatican). The rooftop terrace is nice to relax and enjoy the view of the Vatican. The only possible negative is that the hotel is a bit removed from many of the main sites (other than the Vatican), yet the walk 5-10 mins. to the Metro or a bus stop is not bad and can get you to all the sites. I would definitely stay here again! All of the hotel employees spoke excellent english and were very helpful. The hotel exceeded my expectations.

This hotel was wonderful. The staff spoke English & were very helpful. They always went out of their way to help. We were traveling with our 11 year old daughter & the receptionist gave her a business card with the telephone # in case we got seperated so she could call the hotel for help. Not that we let our eyes off her but it was nice to have that backup plan. The location was perfect for us. St.Peter's museum is right across the street. Bus & subway are a short walk away. The breakfast was amazing! This was our first stop & when we arrived at our other hotels in Italy they did not compair to Hotel Almandi. The room was clean & comfortable. Bathroom was very large with good water pressure. We would definately go back again! We ate at the Plaza Novona in a restaurant called Tre Scalani. The food is amazing & if you like chocolate the Tartufoo is to die for!

The hotel was fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful, recommending good restaurants and advice on where to go. The breakfast was exceptional, in particular the crepes and omelettes! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel Alimandi is a delightful small hotel next to the Vatican. They serve a wonderful breakfast every morning. The staff is very helpful with arranging taxis, offering restaurant suggestions and speaks English very well.

Excellent location for Vatican touring. Area around hotel nice and felt very safe walking. Room for single was very lovely, clean, efficient. Staff very helpful and courteous. A plus is included shuttle to airport, except not on Sundays! I will probably stay again when I return to Rome in May. I definitely will recommend to clients.

this hotel was chosen on strength of reviews and specifially for its proximity to the vatican. It was difficult to know what room you were booking as They dont show or specify what the difference is between the rooms. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained, travellers should note however that there are steps to the side of the hotel where people congregate at night, the view is not of the vatican gardens, but of the main entrance,a very busy meeting place for groups. my main problem with the hotel is that i booked 4 months before we travelled and requested transfers from airport as advertised, and a superior room with balcony, i contacted them 4 weeks prior to travel to try and pre book vatican entry as advertised a)they didnt seem to know of my booking b)told me they didnt do transfers from the airport and c)couldnt guarantee my specified room requests or pre booking of vatican. They responded quikly to e mails but not in a helpful way, regarding my room request i was told it is at the discretion of the management, i would have to see where i had been allocated when i arrived. on arrival they took 20 mins finding us a room, which was on the front of the hotel no balcony and no tea/coffee facilities. I suppose in a 4* rated hotel i assumed these would be available. When queried i was told the management do not allow kettles in the room but you have a mini bar!and can get tea or coffee at any time in reception, no room service. This may seem a petty point but before or after a long day sight seeing to relax in our room on our balcony with a cup of tea was the point. The staff whist polite and very good speakers of english appeared indifferent to the guests needs due to an inflexible unaccomodating management, the comfort of the guests was secondary. I did not enjoy my stay or want to go back to the hotel at the end of the day, as i didnt find it restful or relaxing.

The hotel is in an excellent location next to the Vatican City. Not only this, the Hotel itself was fantastic to stay at and was of a very high standard. We stayed in room 107, which was very spacious and looked onto the Vatican. The hotel is a good 25 min walk from the very centre of Rome, although the Metro station is a 5 - 10 min walk. I have heard of many horror stories of the hotels in Rome, but this is certainly not one of them.

The best hotel we've stayed in in all of Europe. Comfortable clean room with a very nice and modern bathroom (loved the radiator feature that keeps your towels warm). Amazing staff. My husband got food poisoning and they were very concerned and made him rice after normal kitchen hours and brought food to the room. Excellent location, overall great deal for the $$!!!. p.s. Rooms facing Viale Vaticano are on the noisy side, but once you close the windows, you'll be fine (or use earplugs to sleep).

Good match between ratings I read prior to staying at the hotel and our stay at the hotel. Nice rooms, good continental breakfast. Very Close to the Vatican. I think next time though I would stay at their sister hotel around the corner.

The staff is fabulous at Hotel Alimandi. You do become friends with them quickly. We especially loved Aldo, Irene', and Anduana, as the entire staff goes the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They are wonderful. Paulo, the owner, is gracious, as well. Enjoy Roma, especially if you are lucky enough to be staying at Hotel Alimandi.

This is one of the best hotel I've ever stayed at. very helpful staff, super good breakfast, spacious and stylish room, the only thing lacking is a kettle for hot water and tea in room. This is quite an excellent location for touring Rome, it's literally right opposite the entrance of the Vatican Museum, the Metro station is just a 5 min walk away, there are bus stop right infront of the hotel, plus other stops within 5 min walking distance, if you take a taxi back to hotel, they always know the loaction when you refer the Vatican museum.

Double standard room. Soundproof windows but rooms still susceptible to internal noise from corridors and hotel machinery eg fans. Breakfast buffet - excellent range but "hot" food was barely warm, even at the start time of 7:30am

We would recommend the Alimandi Viale Vaticano to anyone desiring a comfortable, clean and convenient hotel near the Vatican. From the start, Anduena was cooperative and helpful in making specific arrangements for our arrival and stay. After our arrival, she and Aldo went out of their way to be courteous and professional in assisting us and our party of eleven relatives and friends. The location of the Alimandi is excellent for visiting the Vatican Museum. It's entrance is right across the street from the hotel. St. Peter's is a 15 minute walk away. The breakfast buffets were excellent with a wide variety of foods and beverages. Service was impeccable. We cannot say enough good things about the Alimandi Viale Vaticano. We enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

This place exceeded my expectations. Although I am not a big breakfast eater the choices here were amazing, stick to the Italian choices, you can have eggs and bacon when you go home!! In terms of the Vatican City, Castello San Angelo and Piazza Navona, great location as all are within a 15 minute walk...actually the doors to the Vatican Museum are probably a 15 second walk!!

We just returned from Rome. This hotel is great if your looking for close to the Vatican you can't get any closer. This is right across the street. Staff was great and helpful. Shuttle to airport is a great perk. Try to get room on the back side upper floor for less noise. The rooms are spotless and marble throughout. Bathroom is huge for Italy. Restaurant onsite for lunch and breakfast buffet is far superior to other hotels in Italy we stayed in. Internet downstairs 1 euro for 15 minutes. Walk to St Peters only 3-4 blocks. Get a reservation to vatican upfront or you will wait in a very long line that starts at 6AM. Overall we will be back to stay here again. Don't miss rooftop garden on 4th floor.

We chose this hotel because it advertised a shuttle to/from the airport or train station. When we called to use the shuttle we were told that they do NOT have a shuttle. We were very upset by this since that is the PRIMARY reason that we chose this hotel.

There are 2 Alimandi hotels. One is a 3 star, one is a 4 star. We stayed at the 4 star on Viale Vaticano right across from the Vatican Museum....What a great location, fabulous staff and a great hotel! Very comfortable, clean rooms, great breakfast and everyone was very accomodating when needed. We will definately return!

The best part of our double standard room was our 3rd floor balcony overlooking the Vatican walls, right across the street! It was a wonderful, private bit of calm under the Roman stars, so quiet that we slept with the balcony door open. We had a separate sitting room with a sofa bed and a second TV. The bathroom was very clean and nice, with a large tub and an amazing heated drying rack (I washed my jeans out in the deep sink and they were dry by morning!). It was all very elegant, with much marble and rich golden colors. However, my mother in law's double single use room across the hall, for only 10 Euros less, did not include a balcony or a sitting room (I'm not sure how you can be sure to get the better room, as both were "double use"). The front desk clerks are very helpful and speak excellent English. One managed to squeeze mom into a Vatican tour at the last minute, though they said these can get full weeks in advance (so book ahead). Another gave us great directions and kindly recommended a good, very close restaurant, Piacere Molise, where we had an interesting and fantastic dish of lemon-ricotta ravioli with a sage-butter-lemon sauce. Breakfast at the Alimandi included the most variety of all of the 6 hotels we visited in Italy. You can definitely find something you like here, though they had a lot of strange hot items I did not like (and I am not very picky). Maybe it would help if they would label things. They do have nice individual packages of pate and parmesan, as well as lots of fresh fruit. Overall, the balcony and convenient location make this a highly recommended hotel.

Location allowed easy access to bus and metro. This is a family owned hotel and you quickly get the feeling that the staff will go the extra distance to look after you. Rooms were spotless and of the highest quality. The only downside was the airport uplift stopped at 2pm. We would use this hotel again and would highly recommend it to others.
