We were an extended family of five in Rome for only three days before moving on to Florence. The Hotel Accademia was located perfectly for exploration of the historic center of the city. It is walking distance (within about 20 minutes) of most sites, and there is a bus stop 100 feet from the front door for city buses and hop-on/hop-off tour buses to get to sites further away. Trevi fountain is a 2-minute walk. The rooms seemed to vary in quality level and finish and there is an upscale wing which is very nice and probably more expensive than what we paid. Our two rooms were plain and small but just what we needed. The only problem was that one of the rooms smelled like cigarettes when you first entered it. After 15 minutes you got used to it so we never complained. Also they don't tell you that internet access costs three euros per hour which we thought was reasonable, although we expected it to be free. The staff was very good: pleasant and competent. It was a busy little lobby and the manager on duty juggled phone calls and check-ins with grace. We were impressed that the the staff seemed to speak all the languages of their guests with ease.

Very well located a block from the Trevi fountain and walking distance from many other major sites. We had a suite so we had a bit more room to move around. The breakfast was very good with a large selection and included in the price. I would stay here again but I might up grade to a superior room.

Would only return to this hotel due to its great location. When we checked in, recptionist was not so friendly, she must have been having a bad day. In the bedside table of the room we found things of the people who checked out before us, we took them down to reception, since it was a bag with medication and all the receptiopn said was Ok, she did not even apologise. Room was not cleaned properly after the checkout of the previous guests.

I was a bit worried that I'm going to be sorry for the three star hotel, however, the experience was amazingly wonderful. The hotel was at the center of Rome, very close to public transportation, close to a few sites as well, and of course plenty of restaurants, cafés and pubs all around it. The service was excellent, the employees were kind and helpful and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and kept us going till dinner without being hungry ;) There was one day that the electricity went out but we stepped out of the room and turned the switch back on. In conclusion, the experience was excellent and we recommend it to everybody who wants a good hotel for a fair price in the best location in Rome.

This hotel was probably the best one we stayed at in Italy (we stayed in about 4 different ones) in terms of room facilities and size. The room and bathroom were both clean and large. Our room didn't have any view - only a tiny window in the corner - but that was not a big deal. The only negatives were that when we checked in we were told our room number but weren't told how to get to our room which should've been done considering the layout of the hotel - there are 2 sections to the hotel and the floor numbers are somehow different in each section (3rd floor in one section is 4th floor in the other section etc.). Anyway the second negative was when I asked for a cappucino during breakfast, I was served one but it came in a cup that had a very big lipstick mark on it! Staff friendliness at breakfast was also non-existent.

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. We had booked a room for 4, but we were given two separate rooms that did not adjoin (we had two children with us). When my husband awoke in the night to use the bathroom, their were literally thousands of bugs in the bathroom. He called the front desk, which offered to move us to another room (at 5 a.m. and away from our children sleeping in the next, but not adjoining, room). We used the room offered to us to shower in the morning. Hotel management initially offered to take 15% off the bill when we went to check out the next morning. The room was uninhabitable! We believed we should not have to pay for the room at all. They eventually took off 50% but we were not pleased given the atrocious conditions. Poor customer service.

Hotel is fine, and so is the service. Breakfast was okay for Italian standards. The only thing that I didn't like (but most people do), is the location, at 100 metres from Trevi, which means that enormous amounts of people are marching by all day, and that on a terrace you pay 5 euros for a cappuccino. I find the Tritone area rather dull, and would prefer somewhere at the other side of the Corso. But like I said, with the hotel there is nothing wrong (although I think I had a luxury room), which might make a difference.

The location of the hotel is perfect, just a few steps to the fontana di trevi. No problem to find a place to eat and walking distance to all sights. Our room (double) was in the "superior wing" and had a good size, the bathroom was spacious. The room looked new. The only thing one could say is that the room was on the first floor already looking into a quite narrow street, so it was dark during the day, but since we've been out sightseeing we didn't mind at all. We still had a view to a little "place (street)", where other rooms look at. Breakfast was good for italian standard - you got different kinds of bread and fresh pastry, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, salami etc - so you can really call it a breakfast "buffet" (for italian standard but still. I think we paid € 130,- for two per night, which was worth it. We would stay again at the Hotel Accademia.

It is not my first time at Hotel Accademia. It has a great loccation and this is the main reason I pick it up. Moreoever it has been rebuilt recently and their rooms are much nicer than before. Hoever this time my stay was not that pleasant as before. When I did arrive at the hotel I was informed that I did not have an available room for the first night so just for one night I was moved to another hotel (quite close I must say) and I came back to Hotel Accademia the day after. Bearing in mind that I was just fro two nights in Rome the stay was not that easy. Thanks

We enjoyed our stay in the Hotel Academia but were dissapointed to find it would have been 100 euros a night cheaper for our two rooms had we booked with a week to go. I felt the rooms were clean and well maintained and we did have a view of the top of the rear of the Trevi Fountain, no one has a view of the front so that is a bit of a miss description. Breakfasts were excellent and all you can eat with a variety of pastries, fruit, cereals and hot food. The hotel bar round the corner was good for a night cap with excellent staff who were friendly and English speaking. We found the reception staff a bit dour. The insulation between rooms was average so if you got noisy people next door you could hear them, normal conversation was audible at a low level. Position was excellent with good bus links all over the city and the opportunity to visit the Trevi fountain each evening to take in the atmosphere, perfect for my ageing reduced mobility mother. Overall I think it was a good hotel but very expesive, had we booked later and paid 200 euros a night for two rooms it would have been good value.

Tour bus to those you could not walk to stopped right outside hotel. Breakfast and service were both really good and staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and modern not enourmous but big enough. We had a standard room which was at the back with no view book upgraded room if you want a front room althoug you are not in the room enough for this to really matter. No more than 10-15 mins. walk from Collosseum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Piaza Navona, etc. We ordered quad room for teenage sons & us, as we couldn't afford seperate rooms, but were given two interconnecting Executive rooms.Very pleased. Simple rooms, immaculately clean with lovely spotless marle bathroom. We requested rfurbished rooms overlooking Piazza and that's what we got. The hotel was very close to the Trevi as advertised and while the entire front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding we were not disturbed during the course of our stay (which was about 4 nights). We had a large room but with 4 beds in it and while it was tight we didn't need any more space. There was still enough room for our bags and things and room to move. Breakfast was okay although it was a very busy hotel (not good if you're looking for a boutique hotel). We travelled with young children and the staff were mostly helpful when we needed.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was very clean, quiet and air conditioned. The breakfasts were excellent. BUT we had a room with twin beds, one bed was comfortable and one was so hard we might as well have been sleeping on the floor. We had to take turns sleeping on these beds as no one could tolerate sleeping on the hard bed for our whole stay. Also we e-mailed the hotel re shuttle bus from the airport and was quoted a price of 50 euros which we paid only to see a sign posted in the hotel that the shuttle bus service from the airport to the hotel was 45 euros. We would not recommend this hotel and would not stay there again even though location is ideal and the rooms were very clean. Why don't these hotels get it - the beds have to be comfortable!!!!!!

The location of this hotel is excellent...walking distance to everywhere and many restaurants close by..breakfast was good, the only bad thing is that the beds are rock hard, its like sleeping on wood and the rooms are small, but bathroom adequate. And due to it being in a small piazza, it echoes and is very noisy at night. If you are a light sleeper, forget about a good night's sleep. First time user of Venere and would use them again.

Hotel Accademia was really great except for one thing....the beds. They were rock hard. (Although I spoke to other tourists and they all said the same thing.) The location was wonderful, just down the street from the Trevi Fountain and central to all the attractions. Most of the employees were helpful, but not overwhelmingly. We did come back to stay at the hotel for one more night, and those beds were softer....so ask for soft beds when checking in. Maybe they'll give you a better room. Rooms are small, but that's the standard for Rome. Bathrooms are small, but new and clean. Internet service provided at only 5 Euro for the entire stay. My teenage daughter loved to check her email at the end of each day. Had trouble with my travel iron, so I couldn't iron anything. Laundry service was too expensive to use. Breakfast provided was wonderful each morning. I would definitely stay here again...but ask for a soft bed.

I will not recommend hotel Accademia for a stay in Rome. The service provided is very poor and the employees are extremely rude to clients. The location is good but the rooms, although spacious, are dark and unpersonal. Also please be aware that the building is being renovated and the front of the building is therefore covered with scaffoldings! It would have been much appreciated to be informed of this before booking. In a nutshelf, I will surely not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice and pleasant stay in Rome.

The hotel is situated perfectly. Very close to the Trevi fountain but in a quiet square with no traffic going though. - and many sights within very close walking distance. Something we never experienced before: whenever the reception called a taxi on our behalf, we were given the number of the taxi that would come and get us and the name of the driver - so when the were more people waiting for taxies, there was no confusion as to whose taxi came first.

Upon arrival at the Accademia hotel we were told that there had been a flood and that the hotel was unable to accommodate us in the quad room we had booked many months before. We had been moved to Hotel Tritone. We were travelling with friends who had also booked a quad room at the same time we did. They had also been moved to the Tritone. Upon check in at Tritone, both families were given very different standards of rooms. We were fortunate and had been upgraded to a 2 roomed suite which was ample and what we were expecting for our money. Our friends the McHargs were very upset to be given a tiny room with 4 beds squashed into it. There was no room for their luggage as the beds just about filled every inch of the floorspace and with 4 people, this was not adequate. On the 2nd day, they were finally given a 2nd room after much complaining. This should have occurred on the first day and you would have avoided a huge amount of angst for both families. That being said, we were given the refurbished rooms and they were excellent. The breakfast provided was also of an excellent standard. Can I please suggest that your staff be better trained to handle these situations and offer clients a better alternative than what they had booked to alleviate your overbooking/room problems. The Tritone is a very good hotel and we the Hearns were very pleased with our room and your staff. Next time, communication could be better!!!

We were 8 persons visiting Rome in early May 2005. I have been in Rome numerous times before, and I know that to stay central in Rome is critically important. And central is NOT close to Stazione Termini or close to the Vatican. Central is Campo Marzo. Accadiemia is close to Campo Marzo, and there are lots of other interesting things nearby. Taking the price obtained through Venere into account, Accadamia is good for location and for being very recently renovated. The hotel has style. Personally my wife and I had a big room, but the other couples had small closets facing the backyard. And this was in the VIP section. So judged from the room size the price is definitely too high. But who goes to Rome for enjoying indoor hotel life? Not me! So all in all: I'll go back to this hotel at any time! Friendly and helpful staff. Arrividerci Roma, Arrividerci Accademia! (Actually I stayed at Accademia in summer 1974 as well; but that's a very different storry!)

A comfortable hotel but rather overpriced for what it is so would probably try another hotel next time. Have stayed in better hotels in Rome at similar rates. Used hotel organised transfer from/to airport, high quality cars and drivers but reception loathe to contact the driver when he was considerably late for the return trip!

Excellent hotel when the prices aren't highest. Same room can cost 120 euros or 210... So try to choose the best period... Breakfast was ok but a little sweet for our tastes. We stayed 4 days in Rome and we never used transports. all tourist places are near.

Our only problem was poor air conditioning in the room, but luckily a cool night helped out. People were kind; room/bathroom spacious. Location was a 10. For our price (double, E115 after Venere discount)derserving of a recommendation.

We found Accademia to be an excellent base from which to explore Rome. 100 yards from the Trevi Fountain and easy walking distance to the major sites even with 9 & 12 year olds and their Grandma. Breakfasts good but repetitive after a week. Rooms spotless and cleaned every day. Reception staff knowledgeable, helpfull and extremely friendly. And a Burger King across the road when the kids have had enough of Pasta..... I'd certainly go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Probably a good 2 star hotel in Rome. No bar facilities, small reception but location is fantastic for sightseeing. Price was excessive but that's probably due to location. We stayed 2 nights B&B, the breakfast was excellent. We didn't have a particularly good room, 301, it was dark with a small bathroom that you couldn't swing a cat in and the bedroom was inadequate for a double bed. There are probably better rooms in this hotel, and it's pot luck when you book as to what you'll get on arrival. Overall it was overpriced and not value for money, but that's Rome.

Hotel Academia was a great choice for us. The location is hard to find at first but is directly behind the Trevi Fountain and right in the middle of all the sights. Our double room was small (12ft x 12ft) but clean and perfectly nice. The bathroom was spacious with a tub/shower combo and huge sink countertop. We were on the fifth floor and the elevator only goes to the 4th, this wasn't a problem for us but if you don't want stairs request a lower floor. The breakfast was excellent with pastries, eggs, bacon, cereal and fruit- much better than we expected. For 130e it was a great deal and we would return here in the future.

Highly recommend Accademia. Location is perfect...Trevi Fountain is just steps away and tons of other hot spots are an easy walk. Front desk staff was very helpful and spoke excellent English. We used the airport shuttle service and it beats the sleezy Italian taxi drivers by far. Room was quite spacious by Eurpopean standards. Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

I wanted a hotel to meet at least five of the following criteria, 1/Twin room 2/Hair drier in bathroom 3/Deposit box in room 4/Central/walking distance to main tourist attractions 5/Good quality breakfast 6/Staff with a good command of the English language 7/Good shower in bathroom As it turned out the Hotel Accademia meet all seven. You could look long and hard and not find another hotel which gives such value for money. Now for the one negetive point, there is a need for a towel rack or the like in the bathroom. Overall this is a most excellent hotel I will certainly stay here on all my future visits to Rome. Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so enjoyable.

The problem that I experienced was that we had a smoking room, it was awful... I had to sleep with the window open, luckily it was warm enough... otherwise I wouldn't have been able to stay in that room. They told me that all their rooms are smoking rooms, not sure if that is true or not... but if I would've known I would have booked a different hotel.

The description of the Hotel Accademia provided by the Venere website was exactly as stated. However, they could not have captured the view from our hotel room! The staff was very friendly & helpful and the breakfast that was included was excellent. The room was clean and well appointed although the bathroom was very tight. We could not have been closer to the Trevi Fountain and were within 20 minutes walking distance to all major attractions. We LOVED our stay at the Hotel Accademia and would most definitely stay there again upon our return to Rome. We have already recommended the Hotel Accademia & the Venere website to friends.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Extremely quiet which for central location in Rome was great. Only negatives: double bed while firm and flat was very small for a double, would probably have chosen a twin if we'd known. Written instructions saying walking down Via Panetteria inaccurate, we walked in a circle before finding hotel.

The hotel is in a great location we walked almost everywhere (only getting a taxi once to the Vatican. The metro station is only just down from the hotel and this is also convenient. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Our room was small but there was plenty of storage space. The breakfast was very nice (hot and cold) with a good choice of food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The location for this hotel could not be bettered, you can walk to most of the major attractions and to the shopping district. The staff were helpful and the only criticism I can offer is that in comparison to the rest of thr hotel, the breakfast area was very cold.

Very good location and high quality hotel, right behind Trevi Fountain. They serve good American breakfast which made the room rate more justified. We got good-sized rooms on the highest floor. The only complain is our bathrooms were not as nice as those photo on the website (quite basic and shower area was small) but can live with it.

THE BED WAS HORRIBLE!!! It was like sleeping on a rock. We both got back aches even though we are used to European beds! The airport pick-up arrangement were excellent. They had one receptionist whe spoke fluent English - very helpful. The room was very dark, with very small windows that you couldn't even get to. It felt more like a prison cell. If the window was open there was a lot of noise from the outside, but that's normal for all downtown hotels in a major city. The location was excellent, breakfast spread also.

My brother and I had a front facing twin room on the third floor. The hotel was quiet because of winter. But staff was polite and unimposing. The room was clean, big enough and had good facilities. The breakfast was very nice. The location is what sells the hotel, and it’s worth every penny.

Accedemia has a very good location, about 1.5 blocks from the Trevi fountain. It is a busy area, but the room was pretty quite, it faced a very small plaza with some traffic but the room sound insulation was pretty good. The desk staff that we dealt with were fluent in English and very helpful. The breakfast was fantasic with hot and cold food, high quality, variety, and quantity. The room was large and the bathroom was large. Both were clean, not especially pretty, but that is not a priority for me. Can use the internet (5 euro for the stay) or there is a very small internet place next door that was 1 euro for 30 minutes. We stayed in the winter (Dec 2004) and the heat was appropriate. We really liked this hotel.

A good point is that the staff did let me check in early as I requested, however the receptionist was not very welcoming or friendly upon arrival. The rooms could have been cleaned better. I asked for adjoining rooms, but I got two rooms adjacent (not adjoining) to each other, which was okay, just not what I expected when I was told I had adjoining rooms. The hotel location was excellent.

We had a lovely stay at the Accademia. I had done a lot of research into hotels in Rome, and found this was pretty much the only one in our price range that I couldn't find a bad review about anywhere on the internet. The location is great, you can almost hear the gushing of the Trevi Fountain when you leave the hotel as it's only about 10 seconds away. We didn't use any public transport while we were there and managed to walk everywhere, which I would reccomend as you stumble across some things you never would have seen, let alone know was there. The trip was made even more special as my boyfriend proposed to me infront of the Trevi Fountain while we were there! I would really reccomend Rome and staying at The Accadamia Hotel, it's in a great location, the rooms are spotless and the staff very helpful. Have a fantastic trip if your on your way to this beautiful city!

My husband and I were pleased with the Accademia. We were actually surprised at how close it was to the Trevi Fountain (one block)and other sites. It was an excellent location for walking to all of Rome. We didn't need to take a bus or taxi to anything. In addition, it is only three or so blocks from the Metro station which made transfer from the airport and travel outside of the city easy (connection to the main train station). The hotel rooms are good and the staff is helpful. The breakfast had lots of choices. Access to the Web through the computer in the hotel lobby for 5 Euros (for the whole stay) was a great help. We had a great stay. Thank you!

This hotel has a fantastic location, just steps away from the Trevi fountain. The hotel itself is undergoing significant renovation. As a result, some rooms (in the 'superior wing') are excellent (5 stars), others are poor (small, stale smoke, drab, hard bed - 1 star). However, the price is the same! When we arrived, we got a poor room - and had no choice but to stay put for the night. We asked to be moved to another room - and then had a great couple of nights. The difference was amazing!
