We had a brilliant stay at the Astoriapark hotel. The staff were so obliging, they arranged transport to the hotel, they supplied bicycles for 2 wonderful sightseeing days and they also gave us breakfast to take away the day we left early to visit Venice. Absolutely no fault in staff or hotel.I was a little dissapointed to discover the outdoor pool closed, mind you it was october, however they do have a great indoor pool and spa. Definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast was the best ever.

We could neither switch-off nor adjust the rather noisy airco from the room. We had to call the recption desk to switch it off at night and again to restart it in the morning.

We booked a standard room, it was comfortable and big enough. But the room was to a mainroad and very noisy - so you cannot open the window when you want to sleep. It was not possible to switch rooms. The staff member told us it is only so much traffic because it is raining - what was not true. It would be good when this would be described a bit better. The garden rooms are perhaps a bit smaller and the view is not as nice as our standard room was - but it is quieter. Breakfast was good and also the garden and pool area very nice. In general the price was very reasonable.

I found the service a bit lacking in some areas but then I am a perfectionist when it comes to Hotels. I checked into the Hotel Parc et du Lac in Riva which was way way better. Although a little more expensive.. Spoke to the undermanager and he was really nice and said he was going to improve the situation at the Astoria Park bigtime. Will definately check it out again next year as it has so much potential it might even top the parc et du lac.. Lets see if it improves. - One more thing if you would like a gourmet meal the best restaurant in that whole area is in Torbola "la terrassa" it comes to around 50 euros each but is top notch.

Hotel molto bello, pulito, grande. Vicino al centro. Colazione abbondante. Unica pecca: la Spa non è molto grande, si fatica a trovare le sdraio.

Staff were rude and unhelpful. No hot water then no water at all and we were told "it can happen anywhere in the world!" and not even offered a bottle of water to brush our teeth. Rooms noisy (church bells and noise from other rooms), and no carpet in communal hallways so you can hear everyone going past(especially the noisy maids and their trolleys). Manager was always "out for half an hour". Can't exchange wet towels by pool - the one you get in the morning has to last all day, even when soaking wet! Poor service throughout hotel except for the lunch waiter! Very disappointing for a reasonably expensive hotel, and a bad experience - i would not reccommend this hotel to anyone i liked!

Very clean and efficient but lacked any personality or warmth. Spa and indoor pool were closed and we not informed before we went. Staff "shrug the shoulders" blase about it. Closed. that was it. It is major building work and we should have been told

Our first impressions were negative. This hotel is located on a very busy urban road. We arrived on a very hot afternoon in mid-May, and found that the air conditioning was not working. We reported this but were told it would not be switched on until the end of May ! Initially we were allocated a room on the side of the hotel near the main road. Because of the heat we had to leave the balcony door open and the road noise was unacceptable. However, we requested a switch to a room on the side of the hotel overlooking the garden, and this was granted without question. In fact, the replacement room was larger than the original, very comfortable, and much quieter. Furthermore, the air conditioning was switched on a couple of days later. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, but ate at the hotel on the first night. The food was very good, and if staying again we would choose half board. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the lakeside and the centre of Riva del Garda. The route is mainly along back streets, so it's possible to avoid most of the traffic. One other comment about the hotel. Don't be tempted to use the underground car park. It has a VERY steep curved ramp. I didn't see anyone else attempt to use it. The ground level parking is fairly limited but we did manage to find a space each day. There is also an open air public car park on the opposite side of the main road.

We spent a lot of time researching hotels in Riva and in the end it was between La Lac et du Parc. The Astoria won because of its pictures, reviews and the fact that it was modern. We weren't disappointed. The Astoria is a very nice hotel. It is located next door to the coach / bus station, so it is handy for day trips to Arco, Limone, Verona, or for transfers to the nearest train station at Rovereto. The location is out of the centre, though this is only a 15-20minute walk. As others have mentioned, this is a pleasant walk past the park, local church and you are straight into the old town. It's probably another five minutes to the boats, which take you around the lake (a must). Riva is full of restaurants,so you will need to walk off your pasta and wine anyway! The food was a generous and well presented buffet dinner. Positioned in a light and airly room, the menu changed everyday (and I think it was about 30 euros a head. We only had dinner at the restaurant on day 1, as there was so much choice in Riva. Breakfast was a generous and perfectly substantial affair, with a young team of staff who were attentive to your needs (Don't worry if you turn up at 9.45am - there's still loads of choice!) The hotel as a very pleasant bar area, with helpful staff. There's a nice seating area where you can relax with a cup of Twinnings tea (very English) and a book. The pool area was excellent. There was never a problem with sun loungers and towels are provided from the 'drinks and icecream hut'.It is in a very quiet area of the gardens overlooking the mountains. There's an air of relaxation here, rather than a place for kids to go wild like some hotel pools! We stayed in a Junior Suite which was large and had good air-conditioning. Although there was an initial problem with the bath, it was fixed within the evening (room 321). The balcony view to the mountains and the gardens was exceptional, (though you could be unlucky and have the view to the carpark!) Fall in love w
