Great location, well renovated, comfortable rooms. But 5 percent more effort from hotel staff could make the place 50 percent better. Internet - despite the hype, not available in rooms. We had to sit out in the street like bums, trying to catch the wireless coming out of the hotel office. Staff excuse that the walls were too thick is nonsense, we kept getting other wireless networsk, just not ours ... Fortunately it was only cold, not raining. Breakfast - starting at 0830, puhleez the day is half over by that time - was poor: stale bread, watered down coffee, supermarket packet croissants, miniscule servings of food. No towel racks or toilet paper holders in the well renavted bathrooms (they had broken off). Beds kept drifting apart in the night - would a tie or even a bit of duct tape applied to the bed legs front and back have killed the staff?

The welcome wasn't as warm as we got in the numerous other hotels we visited across Italy. While the hotel itself was clean, we had immense troubles sleeping as the two mattress on the double bed would separate, leaving a big gaping hole in the middle. Also, would not recommend this to older couples or ones with young children as there are steep stars to access most rooms, unless you can negotiate a room at one of the lower levels, which really aren't many. For me, I'll try another one on my next visit.

Great service and accomodations. Our room had a balcony overlooking Via Colombo in both directions. Which brings me to my next point of being so close to everything you need: food, laundry, shopping, ocean and train station. Those that now Cinque Terre now there are lots of hills. La Zorza is at the beginning of the Via Colombo hill, so you don't have to pull your luggage up the hill. I will note that getting to the rooms is not an easy task with luggage. VERY steep steps with VERY small treads for your feet. Overall, I would most definitely stay here again! and again!

Quaint hotel, warm, friendly and very helpful staff, unbelievably good location. We went home and raved to our adult children about how much they would enjoy La Zorza.

We had a great stay at Hotel Zorra, we had booked for 3 women. Guido was more than helpful with finding out info about onward travel and also had extensive knowledge about the walks in the area. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great. Not far from the train station which was excellent, no needing to drag bags up and down the steep hills. Thanks to all at La Zorza, would definitely stay here again.

Hotel in right down in the centre of Riomaggorie. No one was there when we first showed up which was frustrating as we had a car that we needed to park. In the end all sorted out but they need to figure out an easier way to arrange this. Had we been told the car park and slot numbers before hand then we could have just parked providing we arrived in the daytime. Very very steep set of steps to get up to the room but we had little luggage so it was OK. Room was clean and bright, overlooking the street. Shower is tiny in diameter so a heavy person would not fit but it worked for us. The bed was extremely comfortable, the best in the 2 weeks we were in Italy. Their cappuccino was excellent, and best croissants we had in Italy. The restaurant (not associated with hotel) that is on the street to the left as you exit the hotel entrance is called Il grottino was amazing, best food we had in our 2 weeks.

Great location from which to explore the Cinque Terra. Not far from the station and easy to find. Rooms were recently refurbished, clean with airconditioning and a bar fridge which was most welcome. Staff were great and very helpful.Breakfast was good but expect the same every day - no variety. We were very happy that we made La Zorza our base as in our view Riomaggiore was one of the nicest villages.

We arrived very late at night as we were turned off our train because of a strike and had to take a taxi. The owner met us and took us to the hotel and helped to carry luggage to our room. Don't expect luxary - it's quite basic and very old, but interesting. You need to be fit.

Friendly staff. Not so much a hotel as serviced apartments. The exterior looks very ramshackle, but the rooms were very acceptable. Breakfast basic.

Riomaggiore is a place for active persons! This hotel is the best situated and has an acceptable amount of stairs. If you are less active choose Vernazza for your stay in Cinque terre. In Riomaggiore I recommend restaurant Grottino. They have a delicious fishsoup for two persons. Or try risotto frutti di mare at restaurant Lampara.

Cinque terre is a paradise on earth, beautiful landscapes, romantic see views and charming villages. However, visitors to Cinque Terre, should be aware that walking up steep narrow streets, steps, and not very accessible areas are common place here. Do not go there and then complain. You'll better go to Disney World.

My 21yr old daughter who is studying abroad, husband and I stayed in a triple at Hotel Zorza. It worked out very well and we loved staying here. Our room faced the street so it was noisy in the am but closing the windows and turning up the ac helped. The breakfast was wonderful and fresh. My hairdryer didn't work but they were quick to give me a replacement-very friendly. I'd stay here again!

This hotel is right in the center of the "glorious mess" of the center of Riomaggiore. We loved being right in the heart of local color and culture. This is not for the traveler who wants a pristine, "American Style" hotel, but for those, like us, who truly want to experience the authentic flavor of this wonderful small village, it is great.

The towel bar in the bathroom was broken as was the hair dryer. This wasn't really a hotel since most of the rooms were private apartments. It was near the train station. I wouldn't stay at this hotel or in this town again. I also feel it was overpriced for what we got.

This is a charming historic little hotel right in the heart of old town Riomaggiore. The room was well supplied with good air conditioning, a bar fridge and a decent sized tv with some english-speaking channels (unlike a lot of 2/3 star Italian/French hotels we have stayed in over the years). Most of all the staff were extremely helpful and delightfully friendly yet professional. We'd go back in a heartbeat!

We were greeted by a charming lady who loved aussies and she made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean and tidy and extremely comfortable with a great view of the street. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and you don't have to walk up lots of stairs to get to it. We would recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return.

La zorxa is a very nice place with great staff, friendly and english speaking. Always a smile and some words. Great service. The room was nice and tidy, not to big but quite charming. The only minus is the breakfast which is not the best we had, only croissants and coffee and the thin doors that made us hear all noises from the hallway. Strongly recommends this hotel

The location was good, close to train station, good restaurant across street, on main st. The building was old w no elevator, some steep steps to rooms outside (wet in rain). Rooms are small but updated & nice, had a small fridge, bathroom very small. Staff was very nice, breakfast room small & meal basic, no fruit or yogurt, cheese. Not for senoirs or those w lots of luggage, which you should never have in Europe, ONLY carry-ons. I would recommend it, price is good.

The quality and location of the hotel was fine. No problems. However, there was a problem with the reservations and the man responsible for overseeing this problem was rude, hateful, obnoxious and downright disgusting in his attitide! That would keep me from coming back or recomending the hotel to my friends!

We stayed at the hotel for ten days, in a room with a double bed which they made into to single beds. The hotel is in the center of the city, and we had our window out in the street. Night time it was very quiet, and in the morning we heard the city wake up. We loved these mornings, with the sounds of the people talking, the shops that opened and once in a while someone sang. The ovners of the hotel, and all the people working there, are friendly , helpful and full of care for their customers. We couldn`t have found a better place to spend our ten days in Cinque Terre! All our regards to all the friendly people at hotel La Zorza. Laila Nilsen and Gerd Ester Lien \

The room we had in Riomaggiore was the largest we had in all of Italy, if not layed out strangely in a three-level way. We were right on the main square of the town, but the noise was not bad at all. The bathroom was large and the showers hot. The breakfast room seemed quite large and had a lot to offer (for Italy) in the way of breakfast options. The city square has everything you could need, even a laundry to get you through the rest of your journey. The stairs up to our room were very steep. This was not an issue for us, but anyone with any incapabilities should be ware! Upon arrival we found that there were lots of other options for lodging that included a sea-view, at a much lower rate. The reception person was mildly friendly, and not that welcoming. (This town was kind of a tourist trap in general, and our experiences with dining were the worse of our trip.) However, you cannot beat the scenery and hiking. The room we had was much to cave-like and I would not stay here again for the rate I paid.

The outside of the hotel looks old and quaint but the rooms are bright, clean and modern with some nice rustic touches (wood on ceiling). Nice view of the street from window. Lots of stairs to climb to room; fewer at rear entrance. Breakfast was rather simple partly composed of packaged food. Beware of the caffe lungo; drinking the entire pot can be too much for the bladder. A loud Saturday night concert could be clerly heard from the room window.

Nice hotel in a restored 17th century building. Room not excessively spacious, but providing all reasonable comfort, clean bathroom, adequate closet facilities, air conditioning extremely quiet and efficient. Street noise can be effectively eliminated by closing the windows. Advice to travellers going to Riomaggiore (not related to the quality of this hotel), be prepared to walk all hills, with a very steep incline from the hotel to the parking area. Parking is limited and expensive as well As far as hotels go, we would return, but we are not the type of people that love climbing steep steps. Cinque Terre for us was a disappointment

This was the only hotel we could find(looking two months in advance)in which to book a room for the two nights we wanted in any of the five towns. I liked Riomaggiore more than I expected to, but for the price this hotel offers very little. The young Riomaggiore native in the office/breakfast room -- Elena -- could not have been nicer. But 221 Euros was at least 60 too many!

We really enjoyed our stay at La Zorza and its sister property Ca Dei Duxi. After a 2 night stay at La Zorza, we decided to make our base for exploration of the Cinque Terre at Ca Dei Duxi, which they recommended to us for the longer stay. We dealt with the same people at both properties. The complete apartment at Ca Dei Duxi was like our own little villa. The staff at both properties (many overlapping)were excellent, spoke good English, and politely endured my less-than pefect Italian. My thanks to Elenia, Anna, and all the staff of both properties for making it a memorable stay. Both places were kept immaculately clean, the cleaning staff never bothered you by banging on the door at some ungodly hour of the morning but somehow always knew when you had left the room and it was always ready again when you returned--don't know how they did that (US hotels should take a lesson here). The rooms were quiet and very pleasant and very competitive in price. I would recommend these two properties to anyone looking for a friendly, no hassle place to stay while visiting the Cinque Terre.

La Zorza is close to the station and ideal if you are lugging bags and packs, not so good if arriving by car as the carpark is way up the very steep hill. The Hotel was clean and looked as though it had been recently renovated. A bit expensive but compared to stories we heard of others this was really good value.Breakfast was basic but fine, its what you get in Italy. Our room was light and looked onto the street but was well soundproofed, so the drunk college students fighting outside at night and the early morning roadworkers were not heard. The receptionist was very friendly and spoke good English. We both loved the coastal walk and the sunsets over the Ligurian Sea. Note to older travellers, all of Cinque Terra is very steep and if you have difficulty walking you may find the place hard to get around. Those who enjoy walking and spectacular scenery will love this area.

Since the hotel had a one star ranking.. it exceeded my expectations in all aspects.. they should have given it 3 stars at least! Wonderfull accomodations, only the parking area was not sufficient.. communicate on beforehand how you can reserve a parking place.
