I stayed for 3 days. There is a lot of noise between each bedroom (my bedroom was number 12, closed to the entrance of the locanda), it was necessary to have "boules Quies (FR)". They don't cleaned the bedroom each day... I say that to the "boss" (an italian woman who speak French ;-) and she answered that it should be...However, it is in the center of Riomaggiore and the "boss" lent you a "tire-bouchon (FR)" in case of you want to have a"cinque terre" wine drink in you bedroom, So, globaly, it was very nice. For the breakfast, the woman in charge of it was lovely and it was a nice time. Be carefull to the pizzeria "Veciu Muin" closed to the locanda, it was really really bad, go away far from it (piège à touriste (FR) !! If you want to go to a nice and good restaurant , prefer Lampara or Grotta restaurants which was perfect.

The hotel is pretty much of what I expected, a little pricey for what you get. The room is pretty small, okay for our needs as we weren't there much..but if you are expecting a large room/shower, this isn't the place. It was really noisy as they were doing repairs and there was scaffolding. BUT Cinque Terra was beautiful and that's what we went there for, not the hotel room.

The directions where perfect. We enjoyed our stay but the room lacked some basics, like more than one plastic chair and a table. We had no towels the second day even after calling. Finally got our own from the linen closet! Breakfast was good and the staff, except for the towels was pleasant

Great hotel! Wish we could have stayed longer. Although it is a bit of hike up the hill from the train station to reach this hotel it is worth it. The front desk personnel are very nice and we were pleasantly suprised by the size and furnishings of the room. The room/bathroom were spotless and the wood beams in the ceiling added nice character to the room. We would highly recommend this hotel!

While the location was great, and the parking garage an excellent feature the room lacked some finesse. I guess we got what we paid for but the walls were paper thin and breakfast lackluster due to the Service of the employees. Just so so in my opinion.

Seems to be a pretty good place. Staying in Riomaggiore was great. Il Grotto and La Lampara down the street are really good for dinner. Bar Centrale for your morning espresso and brioche was perfect. The rooms we small but very clean. The proximity to the neighborhood trash cans made sleeping in kind of tough as the garbage truck was quite loud at 5:30AM or so. Then there was the rooster that would wake up my wife at 4:30 every morning. Besides the noise it was a really good place and Riomaggiore is a charming little town. It's far less touristy than the others making it feel more intimate.

We used this hotel on the recommendation of a friend. It was OK but I don't think it's particularly good value. (I haven't checked prices elsewhere in Riomaggiore so maybe it was no worse than other hotels.) The staff were helpful and spoke good English so no problems there.

When I arrived, I was greeted at the reception building by a nice lady. She showed me to my room, located on the third floor of a different building across the street. The building was old and somewhat smelly, but the room was clean and spacious. It was adequate for the one night I stayed in town, yet it was cold, and as indicated in other reviews, the bathroom floor got wet all over when I showered and I had to use towels to stop the water from going into the bedroom. The TV didn't work but that did not bother me. The next morning, breakfast was good and the guy at the reception desk was nice to hold my luggage for the day until my train departure time.

On check-in, it was suggested I come back because it was going to take "a long time" to complete the paperwork. I chose to wait instead and it took 2 minutes...maybe 3. The room up a dark set of stairs behind a souvenier shop smelled awful; dank and musty. There was no hot water (though the staff argued with me about this), so no shower after a long hike or the next morning. The walls were paper thin, I could hear every word of the conversation next door. The towels in the bathroom were the texture of tablecloths. A room freshener was placed in the tiny closet making the extra blanket smell like it had been in a perfume factory. The breakfast was decent. The room was worth maybe $30, but certainly not $75.Would steer people away.

Our reason for choosing the hotel was to be in Riomaggiore, one end of the Cinque Terre hiking route. We loved the location in the town with a spectacular view out of our room's corner windows. It was a good idea to pre-book parking which the hotel provided, otherwise the parking situation is quite inconveniet. Our only complaint would be the lack of clear information with regard to arrival in the town. We were greeted rather brusquely by the people at the Tourist Information office who were not very helpful with the parking situation. Fortunately, we were warmly welcomed at the hotel, and everything was quickly sorted out. We hiked the whole trail and visited all of the five towns in a day and it was spectacular. I highly recommend starting at Riomaggiore and taking a swim suit along so that you can refresh at the free beach in Monterosso. The train back is very convenient and quick. The town of Riomaggiore is delightful. The restaurant recommendation that we received from the hotel staff was excellent.

Quick but not very friendly service. Nice large room, pretty ugly but clean and in good condition. The breakfast was not so good: little choice, too sweet and the only fresh thing was the bread, which didn't taste very good. The location is very nice, right on the main road. We found the price (€55 per person per night) quite high for the quality, but the area is expensive overall.

This was my first time at Locanda Hotel (& also Cinque Terra) & I was pleasantly surprised by the standard & quality of the accommodation. The reception area was quite small but this is standard for the Riomaggiore area from what I observed. Breakfast area was also smallish but adequate for guests' needs.

Great value for Cinque Terre and located in the nicest town in our view. Very central with great outlook, handy to everything. Due to the location, lots of steps and very norrow bathroom but this is part of the character of Riomaggiore. Really good restaurants nearby.

We rented our room online. At the time, we thought we would have 2 people. My husband wound up going, so we had three. Also, we mistakely showed up a day before our reservation (lost track of time in Italy!). They were so nice. They not only found us a larger room for that night, they arranged for us to stay at that room (different location) for the whole week so we wouldn't have to move all our luggage again. We couldn't be more pleased with their service and our stay in Riomaggiore. Our 22 year old son met many people his age and had loads of fun, while my husband and I enjoyed the beautiful beaches and romantic strolls throughout the city and along the ocean cliffs at night. While star-gazing, saw many satellites and many shooting stars. Absolutely magical.

This was our first trip to Cinque Terre, and it was love at first sight. Our room was on the third floor, but the climb (no elevator) was well worth it (in this region of Italy everything is all about the climb). Although small, the room and bath were spotless. The shower had good pressure with plenty of hot water, and breakfast was adequate. Our room faced the main street, which provided us with a great view, but allowed us to hear the garbage/recycling truck early each morning. Our only real complaint was the inconsistency of service. Although everyone in the office was friendly and helpful and spoke English, when we tried to check out at 8AM, the office and the breakfast room were both locked. Eventually someone showed up in the office, but we had to leave without breakfast as that room was still closed (breakfast is supposed to be available beginning at 8AM) and we had a train to catch.

This was a perfectly acceptable place to stay if all you want is a room from which to explore the region. If you want luxury or a view, you will want to stay somewhere else. The reception is a little hole in the wall, the rooms are scattered through various buildings in the neighborhood, and the breakfast is served in yet another building. The breakfast is standard for this sort of hotel--bread, jam, coffee, juice.

Welcoming was nice... but Breeakfast is very "light" and not available before 8:10 a.m. Room extremely small (no room for suitcases!) Price too hight for this type of room. Be careful: the hotel has few parking car (10 Euros/day). If no parking for you, the "public" parking car will cost 22 Euros / day, without any alternative because no other public space available

Because of the steepness of the streets of Riomaggiore, especially carrying heavy luggage I would not recommend this hotel for mature travellers. The steepness of the outside steps up to the room and then the extremely steep narrow steps inside the hotel were a challenge. Roimaggiore itself though is delightful. Breakfasts were not as good as our other Italian hotels.

First time at Hotel Locanda Ca' dei Duxi. Walk although not far from train station was up a relatively steep street, a feature of these villages on the Cinqueterre, so be prepared. Room was clean and spacious enough for my needs. Breakfast was good. If paying by cash, a small discount is offered.

I think this place was a little over priced but with it being in such a tourist area I understand. I'm glad we chose to stay in Riomaggiore instead of any of the other towns. This was cheaper and still incredibly easy to get from each of the 5 towns. The breakfast was great every morning. The shower was really small but what else can you expect from Europe? They asked to keep my passport when we checked in which I didn't approve of so we just made them take all the information they needed at the time of check in so we could keep it ourselves instead of them.

You get what you pay for. My room wreeked of industrial strength bug spray. I had a view of a stone wall. I could hear the guy "yawning" next door. No lift, up 3 narrow flights of stairs. The good news was; it had a fridge. The room was microscopic. I couldn't wait to leave this hotel. I chose it for the location. Right in Riomaggiore. The town was awesome!

Locanda Ca' dei Duxi is a magical hotel in a magical town. We were lucky to get the "Columbo" apartment (probably because we arrived early and had booked through Venere). it was so nice to dine on our beautiful front veranda and watch people go by. The staff were so helpful and gracious! We did not feel that Cinque Terre or Riomaggiore was at all crowded. In fact all but the easiest hiking trails were deserted. The climb to the hotel is easy (about 100 ft up) but if you do not want to climb at all then do not visit Cinque Terre.

This was a great place to stay. The room was a nice size, plenty of room for bags etc. The hotel is a 5 minute walk up the road, and it is uphill so you wouldn't want to be ladden down with too much luggage. Was very handy to have a fridge in the room also, kept the Lemoncilli chilled!

In a high-priced place this was an excellent practical accomodation. Simple but clean. You'll have to go outside to move from reception to room, and breakfast (adequate) is served in a separate place from both those - but space itself is at a premium in all the paesi of the Cinque Terre and the Locanda makes best use of it. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was larger than I expected but there was some mold in both the bathroom & bedroom. The shower was tiny & the curtains too long so that they blocked the drain causing a flood. Breakfast was very good. One employee told us they needed a passport only to fill out a form while another insisted they would hold it until we paid our bill. We got it back from the first person. Lots of steps, but then that's why you're in 5terre.

Unfortunately, I fell and broke my arm just after arriving in Riomaggiore. My husband stayed in the room on his own for the first few nights while I was in hospital. When our hosts found out, they were most helpful and sympathetic. After my discharge from hospital, we booked an extra night and were given a whole suite for the same cost as our single room. The men helped my husband with the bags as there were lots of steps! The area is extremely beautiful and we would certainly stay in the Locanda again should we ever return.

I spent 5 days at the Hotel. The room, although small was well fitted out and cleaned thoroughly every day. Particularly welcome were the tea making facilities and the complimentary bowl of fruit. The fridge was useful, too.
