"Good things come in small packages" is certainly true when it comes to the Windsor Asturia! Tucked into the Theater area of Centro, this small, new hotel delivered all that was advertised and more. Our "just before Christmas" visit caught the hotel in a low occupancy mode and we received a upgrade to a "mini-suite" which proved to be a large room with a huge bathroom, both equipped with the latest modern fixtures. There's CNN on the tv, wired ethernet for the computer (charged to your room on a per-minute or per-day rate--you chose!), a monster-king bed with great mattress, and a large luxurious shower/jet-tub. A number of small restaurants are conveniently located in the lane just around the corner where they do a lively evening business. At no time, day or night, did we feel threatened while walking around the immediate area. The breakfast buffet in the dining room just off the lobby offered all you could wish to start the day. The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful, arranging for transportation and tours, giving advice on shopping and dining within walking distance (Be sure and check out Colombo's) and answering our myriad of questions. They made our first visit to Rio a pleasant and memorable one.

From Galeão Rio de Janeiro International Airport:
Take the Avenida Vinte de Janeiro avenue, continue on Linha Vermelha and then on Elevate da Perimetral. Turn left into Avenida Rodrigues Alves avenue, then right into Avenida Barão de Tefé avenue, and then left again into Avenida Venezuela avenue. Turn left into Rua Sacadura Cabral street and enter Avenida Rio Branco avenue. Finally, turn right at Cinelândia, where the hotel is located.
