Hotel Irina - Riga

Correct hotel

Location of hotel very good for getting about, shopping, eating out etc. Staff at reception not friendly at all and never smiled. Also they made mistake and charged us for two nights and not the three we booked and then demanded the extra money abruptly. Very embarrassing at reception point. Mattresses on beds too soft and caused backache. Also one tiny soft pillow not enough - very uncomfortable. No tea/coffee making facility in room which was very disappointing. Toilet rolls seemed to be in short supply and we had to ask for them - again embarrassing. Breakfast buffet was very good and had a good choice of items. Amber jewellery shops are great and sterling silver/amber jewellery very cheap. Russian babushka dolls lovely and also cheap to buy. Clothes are stylish and also cheap. Cigarettes are great - 3 times cheaper than the UK - approx. £2.00 per packet of 20. Hotel could have opened the windows in the corridors occasionally to air the place as it was very stuffy. Although to be fair we had a smoking room on a smoking floor - but non smoking roons are available on different floors. Twin beds in a double room was not what we expected or wanted as we were on honeymoon and had booked a double. Overall a budget holiday which was good after the expense of our wedding and we returned with some nice pieces of jewellery, handbags and gifts. Quite happy and we would consider returning to Riga but maybe try a different hotel.

The perfect budget hotel in Riga. Travelled with 14 yr old son. Cable tv in room : )Nicely furnished. Good shower and toilet. Economically priced. Breakfast a little basic . . . but plenty of it. Cannot grumble for overall value. Must be best in city. Absolutely centraly situated for restaurants , shopping, site seeing. Cannot be bettered unless accomodation given for free !! Will choose same hotel next time . . .

Clean, nice, quite basic room, with a modest breakfast. A short walk from the old city center, and a bus to the airport left quite near the hotel, so it was easy to reach without a taxi. Definitely would go back and recommend to other budget travellers. If you are looking for something extra special and fancy, then I would recommend to find another place to stay.

It did not have an internet point though it offers internet access if you use your own pc, which I did not have with me.

First the good stuff - great location, lovely shower and a cracking breakfast. But the room was so small and the fridge whirred all night so I had to unplug it!This is fine for a couple of days but I was not sorry to move on from this hotel,

You stated "Use of the dial-up internet connections is included in the price." This is not correct. Internet access is wireless, and costs 1 Lts for 1 hour. Double room is much better located than single room.
