Garden Palace Hotel - Riga

Very nice hotel I do not mind smal rooms. So when it is cramped is it not a problem for me Usually is it an advantige if one want to look on tv. :) But I do not go to a town to look on tv or to sitt in it. My older mother stayed in it a year ago. And loved it. Very good breakfast with lots of choices. Very good staff attending the breakfast. My only problem is that I was on 2nd floor. And got awakaned by the disco at 4 a clock saturday morning. Was thinking of asking for another room. But the disco was only friday night. So I thought it would better other 2 night I would stay there. Next night was I awakend by the flags outside my window. Yes. In strong wind can they make sound. Finally on monday morning was I awakend by garbage collecting on the street. Normal city sounds that is.

Came to Riga with wife and her mom on a Baltic vacation. Garden Palace is well located in Old Town of a surprisingly nice city. Public arears of hotel are very good. Service still has some socialist overtones and our room was narrow and unispriring. But GP is an ok place overall.

Tourism

Was alone on business. The hotel is well located close to Daugava river within Old City and walking distance to all major sights. Single has no wiev :-) but great balcony above the yard. Generally everythings' fine for short stay in the city. Personnel are helpful and speaks at least English and Russian :-))

Great hotel, central location and well renovated rooms! Absolutely good value for money. All rooms with internet cable connection - but unclear if it is free. According to the information in room it was very expensive, but I could just connect. It worked, but was unstable. Small TV with few channels. Free parking in yard - but only space for 3 to 4 cars. Not much space. Smoking was allowed in the sushi bar downstairs and the music was very disturbing. Beer very expensive. If you go for sushi and Japanese food there are many alternative options around.
