Hotel Villa Mare - Riccione

A delightful small hotel,in an excellent location. The staff were unfailingly helpful and welcoming. The rooms are adequate and absolutely immaculate. The location is excellent with restaurants and stores along the pedestrian mall. The beach is only 2 minutes walk away.

I have 30 years experience of staying the first week of September in Riccione, primarily a business trip at the seaside! My family is now at school during this week and I only require a single room. I found the Villa Mare last year and will stay again next year The 'single' room was in fact a small double and is perfectly sound-proofed with good air conditioning, necessary as it is adjacent to the main pedestrian thouroughfare (note, there is never traffic/motor scooter noise, the usual hazard in towns).The public areas are small but with a terrace for taking a coffee perhaps, and on the roof of the hotel a small but useful sun deck and pool. Cheap wi-fi reception in the public areas is a bonus for some. One minute stroll to the beach. Check directly with the hotel that they have you confirmed as a guest

The room was very small, but clean. The room blocked noise from outside; however, the noise from the hallway was excessive. The hotel staff were friendly.

We arrived by car and found the hotel immediatly. The hotel has an underground parking facility so we could park right away. We drove a medium sized rental car (Fiat Stilo SW), larger cars may find it difficult to enter the carlift down to the parking area. The staff is profesional and friendly, so check in was a breeze. Unfortunately the rooms are very poorly soundproofed. The first night we didn't get much sleep. The extremely hard beds didn't help much either. We changed rooms, but we could still hear whenever the phone at the reception desk rang even though we got a room on the second floor and as far away from the staircase as possible. I mentioned the beds, the beds in the new room were as terrible as in the first. It's hard to describe these beds!! I have never slept in anything close to this!! It's just a notch better than sleeping on the floor. On the plus side the hotel has a beautiful rooftop pool area with a view of the adriatic ocean and you can even see Monte Titano (The Republic of San Marino).

I was very impressed with the hotel and the staff. Several of the hotels we passed in the car were just too far away from the centre. But this one's location is perfect: just off the pedestrian street with its boutiques, cafes and restaurants, and also a 2 minute walk from the beach. The hotel itself is new and clean. The view from the rooftop swimming pool is fantastic and for those travelling by car, there is an underground garage. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed by was the breakfast buffet, but that's only because I had forgotten about Italian breakfasts: everything is sweet. I would have liked to see more savoury items. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back there!

Hotel was a great distance from both town and beach, and breakfast was great. The pool however was freezing [impossible to swim in] and there were only two full-lounge chairs on the whole deck
