4th Floor Hotel - Reykjavik

Good value, good location, spacious rooms. Recommended.

Terrible - arrived at 2.00am after plane delayed. No reception. We rang the bell and asked for the 4th floor hotel. Family including 3 children left waiting outside. Finally woman opened building front door - we assumed she was a resident as she said she would have to ring "the guesthouse" to book us in. She then phoned someone and left us to wait. When he arrived (she had woken him up from his home)he looked at our venere booking and said it was nothing to do with him (there is another guesthouse in the same building)but we needed to sort out with 4th floor hotel reception. This turned out to be the woman who had initially opened the door!! She could find no record of our booking. They did have available rooms that night - but we were told there was nothing available for the other nights of our booking (over new year!). However it was 4.00am before we finally got into them. I had paid for superior rooms but the ones we were given had no bathroom. We ended up with the 3 children in a double room and the 2 adults in 2 singles. The rooms were poky and very noisy. The next day we transferred to another hotel - Fosshotel Baron. - it was a relief not to have to stay at 4th floor another night.

Staff was great! We appeared to be upgraded to this fabulous suite. Only negative was the construction across the street was annoying.

The room was extremely dirty. Everything was covered in dust, and i found coins and candy on the floor. Didn't seem they cleaned the room at all, only changed the bed sheets. The windows were hard to see through, because of dirt. I know Reykjavik is an expencive city, but I think this was way expencive for a room without bathroom!!! (It was no information in the Venere profile that there were not going to be a bathroom). I will look for something else next time.
