Short stay with family for tourism. Room and breakfast good; car parking somewhat troublesome; location perfect; personnel outstanding (people at the reception and maids in particular); value for money at the best. If you go to Ravenna this place is strongly recommended (look for the restaurants La Gardela or CaDeVen in the very close proximity, and remember to book in advance!).

The ONLY problem was evening noise, as our room opened onto a sort of communal meeting place with echoing walls - but one can always shut it out and turn on the air conditioner! Otherwise, it was well situated centrally in a lovely city, with all main tourist attractions in easy walking distance.

I would recommend Hotel Centrale Byron if visiting Ravenna. It was very conveniently located close to railway station and within walking distance of points of intest. Staff very welcoming and helpful. We had to leave at about 5:30am and a breakfast package was prepared for us to take with us on the train. Excellent!

Hotel Centrale Byron was absolutely great and I would stay here again on my next trip to Ravenna. Located right off the main piazza, within walking distance of all major sites, good bars, shopping and restaurants. Also walking distance from the railway station. Perfect location. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable for two ( myself travelling with my father). Very generous breakfast buffet and the staff were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Very good value for money.

Small rooms but okay if you are out much. WiFi facility could be improved. Very good breakfast (certainly for Italian standards)and the best thing, the bus to Venice stops right across the street where you can also buy bus/vaporetto tickets (consider a more-day pass if you plan to stay longer).

We were well satisfied with our five-night stay. Our superior-grade room (no. 16) even had a "Romeo and Juliet" balcony leading off the bathroom. This is an older hotel, but it is scrupulously clean and well kept, the fitments are modern, the breakfasts are very satisfactory, and the staff are extremely helpful. The hotel is conveniently situated in the old town and is very good value. There is no traffic noise, but the chatter of passers-by on the road outside can be disturbing at night as the soundproofing is not perfect. So bring earplugs, just in case this bothers you!

The hotel met my standards. The room was fine. Breakfast should be organized differently. The 2 ladies couldn't keep up with newly-arriving guests. Table service was slow and coffee arrived at the end of breakfast for 3 days in a row. It would be a lot easier if one person took orders for coffee etc and cleaned tables while the other one stayed behind the bar. Breakfast itself was great, many different choices and coffee of great quality!

This hotel is perfectly located -- ideal for all the Ravenna mosaics (and not far from bus to St Apollinare in Classe). On a pedestrian precinct with lovely main piazza round corner. Breakfast good and staff helpful. Our room -- the second grade up -- had little space apart from the bed (they had changed us to a double bed -- letto matrimoniale -- with no fuss at all). Outlook on a rather dark building well: I suspect one needs to book the next rung up for something better. But overall a perfect base for exploring Ravenna.

I stayed in June 2009. The hotel is easy to find, ~10min walk from train. It is in historical centre, so close all sights and no traffic noise. The room was clean and adequate, though small(economy single), with very small bathroom. It is air-conditioned, plus had opening windows with good security. Breakfast fresh, with hot options available for a small extra cost. Staff recommended a couple of restaurants - the one I chose served local specialties at at excellent prices. Ravenna is a lovely little town, well worth a visit. The town has a free bicycle use program, and locals are cycling everywhere you go. Also good place for shopping.

L'hôtel est propre, calme. Le petit déjeuner en buffet est très bon et copieux, avec un grand choix. An excellent hotel in the centre of Ravenna. Inside the hotel my room seemed to be very hot although the low temperatures outside in late December probably made this seem more than it was. Bathroom in my single room was very small, one of those where you move the door to get access to some of the facilities. They have WiFi but do little to advertise it you have to ask. Staff were all pleasant and efficient. At the time of year I went finding places to eat was not easy as there were so many reservations made for Christmas meals in the restaurants. One last point must be to note that the centre of Ravenna is completely pedestrianised. You can't get a car near to the hotel, so be prepared to walk a little. From the station it is a 5/10 minutes walk. OK if you can walk with a suitcase but probably not if you have two or three and they don't have wheels.

We had 2 nights in two "economy" rooms. The "economy" classification refers to the size of the rooms. It is good enough for 1-3 nights, but definitely not suitable for longer vacation. The hotel offers "normal" rooms as well, choose one of those if you plan beach activities. The hotel staff is excellent, friendly, helpful. They helped us a lot finding parking, good restaurant (try the home made pasta in La Gardela nearby - perfect!!). This accomodation is value for money, you get exactly what was promised and what you expect.

We would definitely recommend the Centrale Byron. It's perfectly situated in the center of the historic district. Our room was clean and nicely appointed, the staff was very professional and polite, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with very attentive servers. The hotel isn't hard to find since there are signs directing you towards the hotel throughout Ravenna. After unloading luggage, parking is another matter. Make sure to ask the staff to trace on the map they provide the best way to get to the parking since many of the roads are one way. The public parking lot for 2.5 Euros a day just west of the Museo Nazionale is just a short 10 minute walk down the Via C. Cavour to the hotel and is a great option.

We loved being the heart of Ravenna and easy walking to restaurants and sites. Knowing you cannot drive in Ravenna we parked outside of the city and walked in in hopes of making it easier to find our hotel. It still took us one hour to find the hotel. The staff was then very helpful in giving us directions to approach the hotel and drop of baggage and then drive to the parking area. The hotel itself was very nice and clean and welcoming. We did not appreciate the reception person smoking however. We understood that Italy no longer allows smoking indoors. There was no smoking in any of the rooms or the breakfast room. A very pleasant and central hotel, very nicely refurbished. The bathroom, in particular was super and the staff extremely helpful in letting us check our email. Breakfast was good BUT the air-conditioning was centrally controlled and switched off in the night. Each night I awoke hot and opened a window, so getting badly bitten at one stage by mosquitoes.

The location could not be better. The hotel itself is good, the staff frindly and the breakfast excellent. Ravenna is a wonderful town, and the Centrale Byron a great place to stay.

Lots of street noise. Impossible even with elevators to avoid negotiating stairs.

We stayed three nights and were very impressed with the friendly and welcoming staff. The location was superb and the hotel itself of the highest quality. Would recommend it highly and would go back there again!

There's a cheap parking lot nearby (for only 2,5 Euros per day) - the nice staff at the reception can provide guidance to that parking lot. It's also allowed to stay for 1/2 hr directly in front of the hotel.

Single rooms a little small but had everything one needed. Excellent location in the pedestrianised area and helpful staff. Easy walking distance to all the main sites.
