Nice hotel, best breakfast on trip, great staff. The location was fabulous, right in the heart of the historic center, yet the room was quiet. Bed was very, very firm. This made me happy because my bed at home is very, very firm, but not everyone would agree.

Comfortable bed and room, great AC, friendly staff and everything great even at the height of tourist season in Ravenna. Perfect location for sightseeing and our room overlooked the popular gelateria across the way, which we enjoyed despite a few crying toddlers down there occasionally. Would definitely recommend Centrale Byron.

The hotel met my standards. The room was fine. Breakfast should be organized differently. The 2 ladies couldn't keep up with newly-arriving guests. Table service was slow and coffee arrived at the end of breakfast for 3 days in a row. It would be a lot easier if one person took orders for coffee etc and cleaned tables while the other one stayed behind the bar. Breakfast itself was great, many different choices and coffee of great quality!

Excellent location! A walking distance from the bus and railway stations. All the most important monuments are just round the corner. The single room was adequate but much smaller than any in the pictures shown on the internet pages. The friendly staff gave good restaurant recommendations. The room was very quiet and peaceful to be in Italy!

The location is perfect, in centre and 10 min walk from train station. Room very clean , but an inside room so only a view of the 'well'. The single room was so small you practically needed lubricant to get in it. Breakfast good. Staff polite but not friendly. Certainly wouldn't stay again cus of the smallness of the room and the coldnes of the staff.

Right in the old centre of town and an easy walk from the station. The centre is pedestrianised so I imagine getting there with a car would be awkward. Cosy room. Breakfast limited for people with Coeliac.

Except for the manager, the staff was somewhat cold, not particularly friendly. Confusion over what a junior suite means. For us it meant 2 separate rooms joined by a common room. In fact, it was a larger room with beds for four and not something two couples could share.

Couldn't be more convenient. Clean, bright, quiet, good value. Best ice cream opposite. Good restaurant not mentioned in our guidebooks is La Gardela about 50 metres from hotel. Very friendly staff, always packed so best to book. Free bikes for tourists. Try to get one without the basket. They are very heavy.

I visited Ravenna because of my interst in mosaics. The Centrale Byron wss centrally situated for everything I wished to see. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cost was very reasonable. I enjoyed my stay, would happily return, and would be glad to recommend it to others. The bathroom was a bit small.

I was first a bit worried about travelling alone as woman, but it was no problem at all! I recommend Lido di Dante if you want to go to the beach - it is 25 minutes with the bus 44, most parts of the beach are really nice and natural, and the crabs are still alive there. ;-) Hotel was clean, very central, good service, everything fine.

This hotel is perfectly located -- ideal for all the Ravenna mosaics (and not far from bus to St Apollinare in Classe). On a pedestrian precinct with lovely main piazza round corner. Breakfast good and staff helpful. Our room -- the second grade up -- had little space apart from the bed (they had changed us to a double bed -- letto matrimoniale -- with no fuss at all). Outlook on a rather dark building well: I suspect one needs to book the next rung up for something better. But overall a perfect base for exploring Ravenna.

I stayed in June 2009. The hotel is easy to find, ~10min walk from train. It is in historical centre, so close all sights and no traffic noise. The room was clean and adequate, though small(economy single), with very small bathroom. It is air-conditioned, plus had opening windows with good security. Breakfast fresh, with hot options available for a small extra cost. Staff recommended a couple of restaurants - the one I chose served local specialties at at excellent prices. Ravenna is a lovely little town, well worth a visit. The town has a free bicycle use program, and locals are cycling everywhere you go. Also good place for shopping.

An excellent hotel in the centre of Ravenna. Inside the hotel my room seemed to be very hot although the low temperatures outside in late December probably made this seem more than it was. Bathroom in my single room was very small, one of those where you move the door to get access to some of the facilities. They have WiFi but do little to advertise it you have to ask. Staff were all pleasant and efficient. At the time of year I went finding places to eat was not easy as there were so many reservations made for Christmas meals in the restaurants. One last point must be to note that the centre of Ravenna is completely pedestrianised. You can't get a car near to the hotel, so be prepared to walk a little. From the station it is a 5/10 minutes walk. OK if you can walk with a suitcase but probably not if you have two or three and they don't have wheels.

We had 2 nights in two "economy" rooms. The "economy" classification refers to the size of the rooms. It is good enough for 1-3 nights, but definitely not suitable for longer vacation. The hotel offers "normal" rooms as well, choose one of those if you plan beach activities. The hotel staff is excellent, friendly, helpful. They helped us a lot finding parking, good restaurant (try the home made pasta in La Gardela nearby - perfect!!). This accomodation is value for money, you get exactly what was promised and what you expect.

We would definitely recommend the Centrale Byron. It's perfectly situated in the center of the historic district. Our room was clean and nicely appointed, the staff was very professional and polite, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with very attentive servers. The hotel isn't hard to find since there are signs directing you towards the hotel throughout Ravenna. After unloading luggage, parking is another matter. Make sure to ask the staff to trace on the map they provide the best way to get to the parking since many of the roads are one way. The public parking lot for 2.5 Euros a day just west of the Museo Nazionale is just a short 10 minute walk down the Via C. Cavour to the hotel and is a great option.

Staff was terrific! Coould not have asked for nicer people. Hotel location is spectacular, 4 doors away from main square. Room was minimal sized, just barely enough for one person, but do-able. We loved being the heart of Ravenna and easy walking to restaurants and sites. Knowing you cannot drive in Ravenna we parked outside of the city and walked in in hopes of making it easier to find our hotel. It still took us one hour to find the hotel. The staff was then very helpful in giving us directions to approach the hotel and drop of baggage and then drive to the parking area. The hotel itself was very nice and clean and welcoming. We did not appreciate the reception person smoking however. We understood that Italy no longer allows smoking indoors. There was no smoking in any of the rooms or the breakfast room. The buffet for breakfast was very good and servers were wonderful and efficient.

We wanted to be right in the historic center of Bologna & this hotel is certainly there! We had our auto with us & the staff suggested we park it in a nearby piazza & we could pay the Hotel for the parking permit which was 7 euro for 24 hours. This was a great solution as we were somewhat worried about where we would find a place. The parking area was less than a block behind the Hotel and it worked out perfectly. I have to admit that we were pleasantly surprized by the nice decoration of the room we occupied and its feel of comfortable coziness. All the staff were quite friendly & helpful and we regretted we had so little time on this trip for Bologna. We definitely plan to go back soon and I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Friendly and helpful if little contact with staff. We were recommended to an excellent restaurant called La Gardella. Also nearby is the covered market, good place to buy picnic lunches.Hotel centrally located. Most attractions within walking distance.

The location is very good, right in the middle of everything. If you arrive by car, be aware the central district is closed to unauthorised traffic and you'll get a fine unless you ask hotel reception to notify the authorities that you are a guest there and so can drop off/collect luggage. Good, cheap parking available nearby.

Only 50 yards from Piazza del Populo, ideally situated for visiting Ravenna's superb mosaics. Friendly little cafe/bar La Petite Arquebuse 20 yards down the road.

This hotel had the best breakfast of all 7 we visited on our 2-week stay of Italy this year. Excellent location in an excellent city.

The hotel is perfectly located in the center of old town in Ravenna, just a couple of steps from the central square. The room is spacious and very clean. The breakfast was as usual in Europe the standard bread and some ham with cheese, but with plenty of coffee and juice. The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly. I would reccomend this hotel to everyone who seeks for good value and relatrively small price.

Excellent Location but in limited traffic area & difficult to access by car, no parking.

The only drawback was the lack of double glazing which made the rooms quite noisy until late, due to position so near the main plaza. But I really enjoyed my stay.
