Hotel Reviews L'Approdo

Belgium, Sep 2009
Everything was OK, but the only problem is the road just in front of Hotel, a little bit to noisy, and also the problem of parking, in a street next, but to go there we have to walk on the road dangerous.

The reception staff are all lovely and very warm and welcoming, especially Francesca. Breakfast is reasonably simple and served downstairs in the dining room by not so warm and welcoming breakfast staff. The hotel is located on a busy and narrow road leading to Portofino. All rooms face the road so traffic noise can be annoying but all enjoy a lovely view over the water. There is no footpath within the vicinity of the hotel, so walking to nearby Santa Margherita Ligure is hazardous. The hotel's website is very well designed, but slightly misleading. It suggests a chic, contemporary decor and building, set in a pretty garden (in reality, the garden next door - the front shot of hotel was taken on an angle from next door's garden), whereas the reality is slightly less than that. The hotel opens onto a steeply sloping garden area with two terraced seating areas on either side of a central driveway. There are asphalted carparks for seven cars (a carpark costs an extra 12 euros a day) situated between some haphazard and tortured landscaping. The rooms are spartan with minimal decor. The only chairs are the plastic chairs on the balcony and one little upright chair at a narrow cantilevered ledge on which sits a small TV. There is no minibar or safe in any of the rooms, but plenty of hanging space. With a minimal amount of effort the hotel could be pulled from 3 to 4 star.

We were thrilled with our experience at Hotel L'Approdo. When I read that we would have a "sea view," I thought it would be a sliver. Rather it was over 100 degrees with a beautiful old Church enhancing it. Everyone was great to us at the front desk, especially Antonella and Natalia and Walter. We wil return!

We were extremely happy with our choice of hotel and would definitely stay there again. The staff were very nice and very helpful. Breakfast was also good, you could eat inside or outdoors. We had a beautiful sea view from the balcony. There was a beach just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Very easy to get around as the bus stops right outside the hotel going to both Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure. We choose to walk most of the time, the road was very busy walking to Santa Margherita and there wasn't any footpath for the first 2 or 3 minutes but we were already aware of that and they told us at the hotel also. However, there is a footpath the rest of the way so it wasn't a problem. The walk to Rapallo took about 20 minutes along the coast which was really nice.

The hotel was wonderful. The staff was very frinedly and very helpful. The location is excellent as it is very convenient to all of the surrounding areas of interest. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Rapallo / Portofino area.

A lovely contemporary, clean and friendly hotel. Situated in between Rapallo (15-20 mins) and Santa Margherita (10-15 minutes) walk. Clean modern decor, very friendly helpful staff and gorgeous sea views. Highly recommended.

The property was great and the staff was amazing. Our two complaints were that the walk to Santa Margherita was rather dangerous (which is not he hotels fault, but should be told to the clients before they walk. And the bed was SUPER HARD. We sleep on a hard mattress at home, and this felt like we were sleeping on a wood plank. Otherwise everything was amazing!

maybe it's the smile from the workers, maybe it's the pearsonall and care service, maybe it's because i was influence by the previous comments before i arrived - on the buttom line- this was the best hotel during my vacation. great point for seeing Portofine and Chinqua Terra. close to the train station - and i got free parking. the rooms where "stink" from cleanless.... very recomanded - don't esitated.

Clean modern {minimalist) interior. Very friendly multilingual staff. Balcony with room was large and with fantastic view of the sea and towards Qunche Terra. Small well kept garden. Parking fairly tight but proprietor will park for you if wanted. Bus service outside front door. Sea short walk from hotel down past church opposite. Hotel looks from outside modern don't be put off. Lovely terrace with seating and tables for breakfast or bar. Braekfast lovely. (Boiled eggs and cappucino available but extra). Hotel between Rappallo and St Marguarita. First visit but would go back 'in a minute'. Well priced compared with other hotels in area. Not too big. Air conditioning. Hotel reccomended restaurant in St Marguarita 'La Beppe' - fammily run, great food. Try the pesto or fish sauce lasagne. On a busy road without pavement so take care with children.

This was one of the top hotels during our recent family trip to Italy. The cleanliness, location with beautiful sea view, along with the friendliness and helpfullness of the staff, make this definitely a must to return to. I would highly recommend this hotel to all friends and family.

Very clean hotel - very welcoming management. Handy for touring surrounding areas. Car parking available but could use local buses which stopped just outside. Would return.

Great hotel. A bit more expensive than others of similar quality on our trip. We had a hard time finding the hotel as it is just around a corner but that was our fault. Great breakfast. Would definitely stay there again but a car is almost essential.

Beautiful hotel; very clean; welcoming staff. The only disadvantage is the distances to Santa Margherita (500 m away on a narrow twisting road) and Rapallo (about 2 km away)from the hotl. However, if the weather is nice the walk is nice into either town. Beautiful view so it is worth paying extra for a seaside view.

Hotel LApprodo was a wonderful experience. We have stayed at many 5star hotels in the U.S. Hotel LApprodo will go on record as one of our favorite Hotels . The Management and staff was so very nice and made sure we had things to do each day. They went out of their way to make our stay special. The Room was very clean and comfortable, large and had terrific view of the mediteranian and the food was awesome. Thank you.

One of the more expensive rooms we stayed in during 2 weeks in Italy. Outstanding views and high quality room (no doubt paying a premium for both). Friendly and helpful staff. Pity you have to pay to park the car as there's really no alternative off the property to park securely.

I stayed in three cities and therefore three hotels on my trip to Italy. This was by far, above and beyond the best hotel we stayed in for the price. The service was excellent, great suggestions to restaurants and places to go. Very Friendly!!!

VERY modern hotel - particularly amongst all the older style hotels in the area. Easy walking distance (15 mins) to Santa Margarita but walking along the road is a little scary cos there are no footpaths for most of the way. Very important to let the hotel know if you have a car so that they can arrange parking. Portofino is just a short bus ride away and well worth the trip.

USA, Sep 2003
The hotel facility is clean and modern, but that is the only element worthy of a 3 star rating. The hotel is 2km from the town of Rapalo, requiring a long walk on some treacherous roads to get to town or a 15 euro taxi. Above all the greeting staff was far too snooty for the class of hotel, we did not get the feeling that our stay was welcomed.

Right from the start with a warm and friendly welcome our short stay at L'Approdo could not have been better. The staff were superb. Throughout the decor was discerning, fresh and uncomplicated. Also how good it was to get to your room and find the view matched the photograph. Nearby Rapallo and St. Margherita Ligure were either 15 minutes walk or a short, inexpensive ride by bus. (Don't expect to park your car easily in this area of Italy!) The extra 8 Euro to park in the hotel grounds was well worth it) All in all an excellent stay. Really good value for money.

Very friendly, helpfull (english spoken) and professional staff. Well maintained property on a beautifull - tree-lined - location offering a nice seaview from the room balcony. Beaches and towns at short walking distance. I found l'Approdo a perfect base for my stay. If travelling by car, do make sure to reserve a parking space if available.

This is a very nice, new hotel. The rooms are a pleasant change from other european hotels and the room makes the price worthwhile. The great view from the hotel is marred by the constant stream of traffic on the road in front of the hotel which is hard to block out of the rooms. The location is not convenient as it is not really in Rapallo, but on the far edge of St. Michele. It is really in between Rapallo and Santa Marguarita which is not too bad once you figure out the busses. The beach is small, crowed, pebbles and not clean, but this is like all of the free beaches in this area. The breakfast included no meat or eggs which was a disappointment in this price range and was marred by the doors opening on the parking lot leading to breathing exhaust fumes while eating. This is not uncommon in Italy, but could be avoided here. The evening meal was very overpriced and I only ate there once as I was too tired to go to town. There are nice restaurants like Tres Amigos close by, the best I found in Italy. Overall a pleasant stay, but I doubt I would return to this area.

This hotel has been recently refurbished in a modern style. It is well located between Rapallo and Santa Margerete on th road to Portofino. Service was excellent as was the restaurant. The staff were also helpful with touring advice. Car parking is limited so your keys must be left with reception for them to move the car if necessary. The beaches are close by, are beautiful but stony, the sea is not polluted.

This is a fairly new facility with beautiful views on the road to Portofino but within walking distance of the main area of Rapallo. the welcome was very warm, so much so that I had the impression that we were greeted by the owners, although I do not know this for sure. I recommend this hotel.
