"+" excellent location of hotel "+" excellent breakfast "+" the room was efficient (refrigerator, decent bathroom, comfortable double bed), very clean "+" desk staff very helpful "+" free wi-fi internet, but only in lobby "-" there isn't wi-fi internet in the rooms "-" breakfast is only from 7:30 a.m. "-" don't use hotel taxi: insolent driver and demands more money than stated, and more expensive than airport taxi.

The hotel was very convenient...only a few blocks to the St. Charles Bridge. It was a great value. Breakfast was excellent! Lots of food choices. The room was efficient (refrigerator, decent bathroom, etc.) My only complaint was that it was a little tired & dated. But for the price we couldn't go wrong.

there was a kitchen in the suite but no kitchen ustensils to cook in! Otherwise the hotel is very quiet, perfectly clean, well situated (you can walk to all the sites in the city). Functional but without any charm.

Nice property, good breakfast, mostly pleasant staff. We had mold in the bathroom that they would not clean up after multiple requests; I had to buy some bleach to do it myself. When discussed with the manager, he could not have been more apologetic and sent a nice fruit basket to our room. Very thoughtful.

Breakfast and breakfast staff were both very poor. The room was called a junior suite butit was what could have been a spacious room with a kitchen area squeezed in giving a very small room. The bathroom was tiny.

Celebrated our 30th anniv.in Sept.for 4 nights. Room surprisingly spacious and clean. Double bed was really 2 twins together but comfortable. Breakfast hot with good assortment. One "late" morning out of scrambled eggs but they made more after requested. Hotel clean and maintained. Locale safe and convenient with good and affordable restaurants nearby. Recommend: Stara Praha--not fancy but good food & atmosphere (lots of locals). Comfortable walking distance to Old Town--15-20 min. and convenient to trams. Desk staff helpful with adequate English...much better than my Czech!! As we were visiting during peak times(Old Town was PACKED!!) and looking not to break the budget--the Residence Mala Strana was perfect...very nice, "as described"--actually better ,affordable and definitely exceeded our expectations. Can heartily recommend this hotel and definitely would stay here again.

I was there with two friends, for a conference. Hotel very conveniently located in terms of shopping and public transportation. It is a safe enough section of town. Also, near the Castle and a beautiful park. The guys at the reception were very helpful and empathic,(this is quite extraordinary in Prague, where there is a general attitude of indifference towards the tourist) breakfast was ok, and the junior suite was spacious enough for our needs.

Easily reachable from airport with public transport (B119-T20), at walking distance from old town, very quiet location, good welcome and kind assistance by personnell, spacious clean little flat with daily cleaning and change of towels and sheets, only one sheet had a hole the last day, excellent included breakfast with plenty of choice, open throughout 24 hours for night dwellers, if you have a low budget and are interested in local food you have a minimarket very near and a little kitchen in your flat where you can easily prepare your meals eating what you fancy and spending very little compared to EU prices. There was a discrepancy between Venere invoice and their final bill, promptly rectified by a very kind employee. In the whole, VERY good value for your money, would go back tomorrow!

We had a great stay at Hotel Residence Mala Strana despite a few minor problems. We had a very noisy neighbor above us who trounced through their room at all hours of the night and physically shook the lamps on our walls. Housekeeping was not the greatest, one day we returned from sightseeing to find we were only provided one towel (for 3 people). A bit of a struggle w/front desk to secure more. The room was quite spacious and having a little kitchenette was a bonus. Location was excellent, in a quiet residential area but still close enough to walk to all sites. Overall, we felt the hotel was good value for the money.

This was a good value for money hotel, with a good size room on comparsion to many cheap European Hotels. My only complaint was the receptionist at the front desk on by arrivial. We found the location of Residence Mala Strana to be its best asset: quiet street, easy walking distance to tourist sites, great tram service nearby. Everything promised on the web site was delivered. Most of the customers of the hotel seemed to be European. The room price included a good breakfast, with lots of choices compared to other small European hotels. The hotel had an elevator, which made trips to the room with luggage easy. There is free internet access in the lobby and, to my surprise, it was usually available. The only negative was that some of the reception staff members were not confident in their English speaking ability, and it made communications slightly difficult at times. But each employee we encountered was willing to help us.

Unhappy to be quoted in Euros and then charged in Czech crowns. If I book a price in Euros I expect to pay in Euros. I will think twice about booking with Venere in future. Hotel itself was fine. Handy for tramlines but off the main street so fairly quiet.

Hotel Mala Strana is in an excellent location, within walking distance of St. Charles Bridge, St. Nicholas and Kampa Museum. It is in a quieter location, just off the very busy and more touristy neighborhoods. The hotel is old but well maintained. A hot breakfast was provided each morning, free computer use and internet provided, and a helpful staff. The suite room arrangement gave us plenty of space.

Rooms have single beds that could be joined. Internet is for free in the lobby. Room was not clean. For example on day to the other was not cleaned only after reclamation and after that still you could not call it kind of clean. Breakfast was ok and offered several selections. User friendly kind of neutral, it was ok for me however some other guests had some reclamations. NO INSURED PARKING LOT, only two in front of the hotel. Location good and you are in 10 min in the center. Shopping close if you turn left (opposite direction of the center). Overall, average not excellent.

If you want a clean & friendly place in a convenient location then you will struggle to find anything as good value as this hotel. The hotel is not luxurious and decor was basic but for less than £40 a night B&B what can you expect!? The bathroom was tiny, but the room itself was spacious with a sitting/eating and cooking area. We did not use the cooking facilities in the room but the fridge was very useful for storing your own drinks which were extremely cheap to buy in the shop round the corner (30p for water or Staropramen Pils!!) The hotel minibar prices were much more expensive. Note that the 'double' bed we had was actually 2 singles pushed together!Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the service from staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice and quality was ok and is served upto 10am. A useful feature of the hotel was the free-to-use internet in the reception area. The area of Mala Strana is not the most prestigious in Prague and in places may appear a little dirty, but because it is not recognised as one of the main tourist districts, you can get much better value-for-money. We found it safe and there are signs it is becoming quite sought after with refurbished apartments being sold for a lot of money. Probably the best cafe in Prague, the Cafe Savoy, is close to the hotel. It has a fantastic selection of teas, coffee and cakes in a classy building. Local restaurants were good and very cheap - large pizza £4 / beef goulash £5 & beer was much cheaper than tourist areas at only £1 pint. The hotel is very close to the river & to Petrin Park. It is a 15 min walk or 5 min tram ride to Charles bridge. There is a tram stop about 100m from the hotel. The tram system is excellent & cheap. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a clean comfortable base to explore Prague at a very good price. If you want a luxury or romantic hotel then choose somewhere else but be prepared to pay much more!

Spacious, clean rooms. Ours had a living area, dinette area, and separate bedroom for E56. Great value! Fantastic, hearty breakfast. Only drawback was finding it, and the map on here isn't very good. If you're flying into Prague, take bus 119 from the airport to Dejvicka terminal and change to bus 20. Bus 20 lets you off on Ujzed Street, which is perpendicular to the street with the hotel. Only a short walk - less than 100 meters.

Although we were initially disappointed to have the two basements rooms, we all agreed it was nice to have the floor to ourselves and it was SO quiet. In the end we were hardly in the rooms so the location of them made little difference. The location of the hotel was brilliant and offered excellent value for money. Everything we needed was within a short walk and we all agreed that when we return we would stay here again.

We stayed here in Feb '08 and were very pleasantly suprised. The room was at the back (towards the courtyard) and very quiet. It was also much bigger than we had expected, especially since we paid so little for it compared to other hotels in Prague and throughout Europe. Room a bit dated (cracked tile in bathroom floor, curtain rod flaking), but otherwise in very good order. Really enjoyed having the kitchenette and fold-down beds in the common area (this is actually where we slept). We had our 21-month old daughter with us, so very convenient to have the ability to fix a quick snack for her. Bathroom also very large - all in all, large room for EU standards. Breakfast very good - included warm dishes (bacon, scrambled eggs, vegies) as well as fresh fruits (grapefruit, kiwi), cheeses, good assortment of breads, jams, etc. Hotel itself was nicer, more stately (check out the sun room/seating area at the back of the lobby), and larger than I expected. Service very good and our room was well-cleaned while we were out. We were able to park our rental car in a safe garage nearby for much less than the going rate in Prague (we paid 290 CK/night). Location is great - easy access to Prague Castle and Charles Bridge (and hence Old Town/New Town). People who say it's far to walk (which I don't understand) will have difficulties properly exploring Prague anywhere they stay, since the city has much to see, but best on foot. If the Charles bridge is too far for them, there is another bridge even closer that one can take (2 short blocks away) to cross the river. There are also restaurants nearby (and a small grocery) that won't charge you tourist prices or try to get away with bilking you. I would highly recommend this hotel (would also be good for families) if you are looking for well-priced, decent accomodations. If you want luxury, go to the Intercontinental - but you won't get the local flair!

Beautiful vacation! Prague is a wonderful city.Very very freezing during winter time but spectacular. The residence Mala Strana we were in was really really nice, nice people, nice rooms, very good continental breakfast. We can certainly suggest this residence because it is not far from the Charles Bridge (the famous bridge of Prague) that let you enter the old city. The public transportation means are very efficient and not expensive. The restaurants in the center are very expensive but near the residence there are a lot of traditional restaurants or pubs that are very good and cheap. Better stay away from eating in the old city!! So, beautiful wonderful spectacular city!! Go there and enjoy your trip!!

The hotel is VERY well located, close to all main attractions at Prague. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. I haven't heard any noise even though my room was on the first floor, turned to the street. The staff is was VERY friendly, expecially the gentleman that stays at the reception at night. He was very kind explaining to us the places, restaurants and main attractions. The room was clean and large enough. The breakfast was awesome, with great variety. We stayed for just a few days and found the location to be basically where we needed. It's a 10-minute walk to a lot of the major sights (except Prague Castle). It was kind of nice not to be in the thick of everything at night, since Prague gets pretty crowded. Breakfasts were good, with plenty of rolls, meats, and cereals, and hot food after 8. The free Internet in the lobby was a nice perk. The only caveat was that the listing says there is free parking. There is, but they only have two spots. Most likely, if you have a car, you'll have to park at a garage a few blocks away and pay a daily fee.

Some nice local reasonably priced restarants -would recommend mexican restuarant on way to charles bridge- esp if you have a taste for mojitos!! Hotel bello e situato ottimamente nel quartiere di Mala Strana, a due isolati dalla parte meridionale dell'isola di Kampa e a 10 m. a piedi dal ponte Carlo. Stanze spaziose e colazione eccellente con cereali, pane e frutta fresca, affettati, uova, caffè, latte e the in abbondanza. I stayed at the Residence Mala Strana with 2 friends in May while on vacation. The room was spacious enough, with a bedroom with double bed, a convertible bed in a living area, and a small kitchen and dining area. However, the decor was very dated and the room was not well maintained. The drapes, upholstery, and bed comforter looked very old and worn. I'm allergic to dust, and found my allergies were aggravated when we were in the room, possibly from the drapes and carpet not being cleaned regularly. The room desperately needed a fresh coat of paint along with new drapes and linens. There was no air-conditioning in the room, which was a problem while we were there as it was quite hot and humid. Opening the windows did not help as there was no air circulation. We were on the ground floor in a room next to the elevator, and found it very noisy when going to sleep as we could hear everything from the hallway outside our door. We thought having a kitchen area would make our stay easier, but there were no pots to cook in! (They did however have plates and cutlery.) So we ended up eating at restaurants in the area. The other common rooms and the reception area in the hotel are much more up to date than the room we were in. The breakfast room was nice, and a good selection of breakfast foods were available every morning. The hotel location was convenient - Mala Strana is a quieter area of Prague and it's possible to walk many places. However, had we stayed somewhere else, I'm sure location would not have been a disadvantage. While the room was very affordable compared to other accomodations, I do not think I would stay here again.

The close surrounding of the hotel is probably not so pleasant. Apart from that it's a perfect choice of hotel accommodation in Prague. The best thing about the hotel is that every room has a kitchenette with basic cooking utensils. Perfect for us who prefer not to go out at night for dinner since our little one goes to bed quite early. If possible avoid top floor. This is because the rooms do not have windows. The breakfast, albeit pretty basic, is much better than most of other hotels of the same class I've been to. To the old town you may need around 20 minutes by foot. Not so bad. Or else, you have the option of using tram, which is also a very convenient way to travel in the city. You could buy the tickets from the hotel's front desk. A quick note for Muslim travellers: There is one halal takeaway near Tesco (you could ask the front desk to tell you the direction). It's not so easy to explain exactly where it is with reference to the Tesco building. But you should be able to find it if you do a bit of exploration around the shopping mall area.

I relied upon public transport to get us from the airport to the hotel. A number 254 bus, then a short metro journey to Dejvice then a 25 tram plus 2 minutes walk got us to the hotel - total journey time 45 minutes - no sweat. The hotel was clean and our double room had plenty of space together with a small kitchen. The frig was a god send and with a small super market only 100metres away we could have made and eaten meals in the room and made it a very cheap stay had we wanted. Super market prices were about 65% of UK prices. The room was cleaned and tidied every day and new towels provided. I was impressed! We looked forwards to breakfast because compared to most hotels the breakfasts were special! A choice of cereals, fresh fruit, fresh kiwis, fresh grapefruit, bananas (you name it) and egg, bacon, sausage and a selection of meats, cheeses and fresh bread and rolls of the highest quality - all rounded off by a limitless supply of tea and coffee. The Residence Mala Strana certainly met my expectations and I would give it a good 3 star rating. The location couldn't have been handier. The Charles bridge was 12 minutes walk and Wesleslas Square about 15 minutes. But trams were always an option - I kid you not, we never waited longer than 2 minutes for a tram we wanted. In general we really liked the hotel and the English speaking staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly choose it again if going to Prague. Dont expect luxury - it is plain and simple but provides everything you will need. Stephen & Trich Machin (in our fifties for your reference)

Really nice place to stay. I did only for 1 night but wish to have more. Spacious clean room (mine was a junior suit). A quiet street in real Prague, not a noisy tourist area but just few steps to it.

Hotel situation according to main attractions was fine, walking a little. It was end of january and was a hard snowing outside; heating was excellent. Rooms and service as promised; we were three in an wide apartment (up to five persons), a very quiet room. It needs some new furniture and repainting, but it was acceptable. WARNING!!!!: OUR ROOM WAS STOLEN, NO FORCED DOOR: money, mobile phone, ipod, cosmetics, sunglasses and one PASSPORT. Please, be extremely careful; there is not safety box. The Hotel assume not responsability, but called the police to make a denunciation. Not very adequate response for a serious incident (they was laughing and talking in czech obviously about it). Very disgusting evening, just arrived to Prague.

The hotel is good value for money in tourist hungry Prague. The location in a bit of a dingy side street does not look anything like the photo. My wife and I nevertheless enjoyed our stay and would recommend it as an economy class hotel. The breakfasts were good and the service was friendly and always available.

Clean; decent breakfast; spacious room; section of Prague not next to main sightseeing, but convenient tram very close. Overall good experience and would recommend the Mala Strana

The hotel was very good and clean. We were disappointed with the rooms offered as they were on the top floor and only had sky-light windows, therefore we had no outlook at all. As we arrived at 10.30pm there were no other rooms available so we had to stay on the 5th floor. We also faced the front and if you had the windows open at night the sound of the traffic ie trams kept us awake but once we closed the windows it was very quiet. We stayed 4 nights at the hotel and the breakfast was very good, loads of choice and the girls serving worked very hard keeping it all topped up. We would certainly stay at the Hotel again but ask for a room on a lower floor.

This was the biggest hotel room we stayed in during our 5 week travels around Europe. It is like a small apartment with plenty of room and even a mii ktichen. Breakfast was good and location is within walking distance to all the attractions. I would reccommend to other travellers.

Our biggest disappointment here was the location. Somehow we were expecting the hotel to be much closer to the St.Charles bridge than it actually was. Although it was walkable it was more of a hike than desired especially in the dark and empty streets, after very enjoyable evenings in the wonderfully beautiful center. The staff was friendly but not outgoing and dutifully went about their chores. The room was smaller than expected but adequate, we had no need of the kitchenette automatically provided however. We would probably not stay here again based on physical location, but the overall experience was good. The private taxi to the station was a bargain.

The hotel has a quite good value for the money. Nice staff and excellent location. Breakfast was very good and the rooms clean. From walking distance you can do almost everything in Prag. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends without hesitation. Since the hotel is a bit off centre you are not affected by the crazyness of people and the prices in that region are fair and affordable (not crazy expensive like in the city centre).

We were a family of 2 adults & 2 girls (aged 16 & 8) staying at this hotel. Our room was a family suite & to our surprise had a kitchenette tucked away in a cupboard. The room also had 2 bedroom with the twin beds quite large which the girls enjoyed. The room was spacious & very clean. The staff at the hotel were very helpful in all aspects. The breakfast supplied was also excellent. We had a car with us & the hotel had several car parking spots directly in front of the front door with 24 hour video survellience which was very much appreciated. The hotel was quite difficult initially to find, but we found directional signs in Prague to be at a minimum; something Prague needs to improve on. The price charged at the hotel was also cheaper than that quoted on Venere. We would definitely stay again at the hotel Mala Strana.

Very spacious and clean room. Room includes kitchen facilites that can be used for preparing food, if so inclined. Adequate buffet breakfast. Relatively close to historical center, sbout 10 minutes walking. Does not have air conditioning which can be a problem during summer. We were given a room on the top floor which only had roof windows, so we had no view at all and it was quite hot. The room was configured as a twin room, although we had requested a double room, but we were able to push the beds together. We had a very good stay, the only notable problem being the lack of AC.

Our stay in Residence Mala Strana was one of the factors that made our stay in Prague extremely pleasant. The rooms were actually very spacious apartments and include a kitchen with a table and a sofa around it. Very nice for these nightly conversations recapping how the day has gone. If I have to pick on sth. I’d point out that accessing the bath/shower was a bit uncomfortable and that accessing the wardrobe was also not spacious but these are over all very minor drawbacks. Breakfast was fine, standard quality (eg no fresh orange juice, ‘pre-cooked’ eggs a bit too hard) quite varied (ham, salami, croissants, fresh fruits…) and staff replaced quickly finished items. Location was great, eg. 10 minutes walking to Karluv most, several tram-lines to the Castle and the center, and plenty of restaurants around. There is a very nice restaurant round the corner, ‘Olympia’, it’s big, staff helpful and English speaking and serve reasonably priced Czech food. The reserve through Venere as easy and reliable as always. Terrific to count with such a resource for independent travellers.

The hotel recommended parking in the garage but spaces were not available. Although it was possible to reserve places in the parking garage, the employees were too incompetent to suggest this. There was no internet access and employees were too incompetent to know where internet access was available I could not make long distance calls from the room because the phone system was too old to accommodate touch tone dialing When I tried to ask a receptionist for information about tourist attractions, she was on her cell phone. She did not hang up, but held the phone open while she spoke with me and acted impatient for me to leave so she could return to her call (Sunday 16 April 9 pm)

The staff was very helpful, my room was nice, breakfast was great, and I loved the location. It's a pleasant walk north to the Charles Bridge, and if you walk south, you get away from the tourists to more authentic shops and restaurants with Czech clientele and lower prices.

For the price the hotel was fair. The location of the hotel was pretty good but parking is a challenge but solvable. They have only 2 street side parking spots and these are at a premium so you can park in a secure garage about 7/8 minutes walk away which worked fine for us. Breakfasts were good and we found the staff halpful and friendly.

We were impressed by the quality of different things in our room: beautifully sewn and constructed coverlet with matching curtains; heft of doors + the inset wood that enclosed the kitchenette and closet; substantial bathroom fixtures (appreciated the towel-warming bar that did double duty for drying clothes and shower's strong water pressure). Although not spacious by luxury standards, the room was of a comfortable size for our needs. Any need for space and personal retreat was met by a gracious, light-filled sun-room with comfortable chairs between the ground and first floors. The street was quiet as promised, the breakfast fullsome and very good, staff very polite and helpful. We learned that the Mala Strana district has a great deal to offer - quiet, shops, restaurants, streets to explore - without the hubbub and (inevitable) Disney quality of the Old Town. Bravo, Residence Mala Strana.

Residence Mala Strana is a very strong 3-star hotel, and definitely an excellent value for the price. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfast was good, and the location is perfect - I absolutely recommend it (unless you're looking for a "high end" hotel).

This is anice, but not great, hotel. The rooms were large enough and well cleaned except for black scrapes on the wall. The staff were very efficent though not particularly friendly. The location is excellent, within an easy walk of Charles Bridge, the Old Town and the Castle district. Would stay here again.

We were generally well impressed overall by the friendliness and hospitality offered, and the Mala Strana Residence was ideally located in respect of easy access into the historic centre, restaurants etc., however we did find the apartment's heavy furnishings, plus being on the building's inner well rather oppressive to wake up to each morning. That apart, everything functioned as it should have done, with a wide breakfast choice if one was fairly punctual!

I found this hotel to be very clean cosy and central enough without being noisy, a ten minute walk from the Charles bridge with breathtaking scenery along the way i found Prague to be the most beautiful city i have had the pleasure to visit and would certainly recommend the city and this hotel, every thing worth seeing (which is every thing in sight) is within walking distance and the people are so friendly. We were on a hen weekend and found the food and alcohol very cheap although souvenirs can be expensive i recommend you go on the city tour which the hotel booked for us it cost about £10.00 per person for 2 hours and was worth every penny, enjoy your stay i will definitely be back.
