It was for me a very good hotel and corectly described. I have a good stay but even the employees don't need to talk a lot, it could be a little more than done and when they talk in english, it should be with a bit more attention to the customers for a better understanding. English is not de native language of the employees but not the native language of the customers but often used by the both. But it was not too bad. thank you;

We were 5 persons (3 women, 2 men) traveling together and had 1 double and 1 triple room. Rooms were nice and clean tough triple room may be a little small if you travel with big luggage. Service was good and friendly and we also liked breakfast, only missed some fresh vegetables. Location is excellent, at short walking distance from Vaclav square and tram stops and metro station around corner. Hotel is at a tram line crossing and they are a bit noisy, but it did not bothered us. In general we were very satisfied with our stay at Tyl Prague and it will certainly be our first choice when we come to Prague next time.

Good value for money; a pity that the room is not isolated enough from the noise coming from the otherwise very convenient trams of the street : thermal insulation does not necessarily provide good phonic insulation! but fortunately, no noise from room to room!

This was a very good value stay. For the amount we paid this was overall probably better than we could have expected. This was our first time in Prague and the Czech people, including the hotel staff, are an extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful people. English is very widely spoken and the locals don't seem to mind too much the inadequacy of visitors' attempts [or non-attempts!] at speaking their language - which was difficult even for my linguist partner. There was some gurgling of the central heating system which did disturb sleep a little - perhaps if I had imbibed a bit more of the excellent local beers it may have passed me unaware! We both thought the quality and variety of the breakfasts [for a continental breakfast] was very good and an unexpected bonus. Although in Prague 2, the Tyl is a very close walk to Wenceslas Square with the main station, Republic Square, the Old Square and the Charles Bridge just a little further. The castle district is a bit more of a stretch being of course all up hill after you cross the river. I'm sure had we investigated the extensive tram and underground systems a bit more we'd have found a quicker and more leisurely way to get around. But we like to explore on foot and Prague is a very beautiful city well worth a stroll around if your legs are up to it!

I liked everything about my stay at"Tyl Prague" except that my bed was not made-up the three nights I stayed there and I did not always get clean towels. The mattress also was not that comfortable. I stayed in a single room that had a bed composed of two twin beds pushed together.. Aside from those complaints, we were treated very well by the reception manager "Richard" at the front desk. He was very patient with us and helped us in any way he could. The atmosphere in the hotel was excellent and I think older clientele such as we are appreciated the coziness of the place. The complementary breakfast was excellent.

We have stayed at this hotel before (about 2005) and the standards are the same now as they were then, excellent. Very easy to reach from the airport via bus then metro for 26 koruna (less than a pound). Would have no hesitation to stay here again.

The location was not central in terms of sights to see, but there were many convenient shops, restaurants, grocery stores, metro and tram stops, laundromats and banks that came in very handy for those staying longer than a couple days.

Hotel Tyl is a well run and clean hotel. Its proximity to two metro stations make it ideal for exploring Prague. The staff were all good at their jobs without being intrusive. When the windows were open it was quite noisy outside but the option of air conditioning meant that even when it was hot (we visited in August) this was not a problem

Everything was as expected until checkout. I was quite happy with the stay and the value. I was quoted the rate several times in Euros - on this site and at the hotel. I double-checked the rate quote again upon arrival at the hotel. I was given a specific, all-inclusive rate in Euros - the same one as quoted on the site. When I checked out, I was fully expecting to pay the quoted rate in Euros but they converted the rate into Czech Crowns at an extortionate rate - nothing close to the going rate. So I ended up paying considerably more than the quoted rate and I was upset - it soured the nice time I had and I must dispute a portion of the bill with my credit card company. Other than that, it was a nice place.

Highly recommended, Tyl Hotel in Prague is just at 5 min by walk to the National Museum and at 10 min to the monuments area, really well connected with everithing by metro and tramway (I.P. This was our first time in Prague. Hotel location was good - 5 mins walking to the top of Wenceslas Square and 15 mins to Old Town Square. The hotel was good value for money. The breakfast was excellent and there is sufficient choice to satisfy all reasonable people. Our only complaint was that the mattress on the bed (room 203)had seen better days. Some rooms have baths, some showers, you should tell them which you want. Easy access to Metro and Trams - 1 minute from hotel - 100 Crowns for 1 day free roaming ticket - good value. Number 22 tram outside the hotel takes you up the hill to the castle, door to door. Food and drink prices can vary a lot so look around before picking a restaurant. There are some good value eating places in the passageways between Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

We booked three nights at the beginning of our vacation and liked it so much that we returned at the end of our multi-week travels. Take ear plugs if you agree to a street side room (view rooms before accepting) but that is only a minor issue when you take the overall positives into consideration. The vast majority of sites are a tram or subway ride away from the station right around the corner. There are a number of lower cost neighborhood eating places and even one has a non-smoking section. Parking is a problem and if you are a runner, plan on sucking in fumes and dodging cars before getting to no-traffic sections of the city. We will return to the Tyl when in Prague and have recommended the hotel to others

We were very surprised at the standard of the hotel as it was a lot higher than expected! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tyl and would definitely go back again if we ever went back to Prague. Some advice, if you are planning on sightseeing while in Prague, buy a travel pass that allows you to use the tram, bus and metro. We went all over. It was great. Also be careful of certain cafes / restaurants adding excessive service charges or bringing you different wine to what you ordered at twice the cost!! Overall, Prague is a beautiful city. A must go and see.

We had a great time, there. Located in center of downtown. It couldn't have been better if the reception area or lobby was not under the construction. Except that, everything was perfect. I asked tons of questions about trip in Praha to a receptionist in the hotel and she was so kind and the information from her was accurate. I wanna thank to her.

Our only real problem was that smoking was allowed inside in the common areas. This totally detracted from what would otherwise have been a very nice area. If you smoke you will love this hotel, if you don't then it's still a good hotel, just don't use the common areas.

We used the Venere website to look for a hotel in Prague and chose this one. It was just as other users said: good quality/price ratio, very spacious rooms and a very comfortable bed. There was very good communication with the help desk even before we arrived, as they were very quick to answer and make sure they fulfilled our preferences. The hotel is very near a subway station (I. Pavlova), which is just a few stops away from the main downtown area and all the interesting sightseeing. There is also a tram (no. 2, I think) which goes right to the entrance to Charles Bridge. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotel Tyl Prague is a very nice, quiet hotel. It has a nice spacious room, and it was very clean. It is very close to the main attractions. They provided a hotel car with a set price when we had to go to the train station on our departure (great thing to have because the taxi quotes can be uncertain). Only issue was that the hotel was very warm they set the air conditioning for you and you can not change it. The rooms can get a little stuffy and warm. Overall, good experience.

I was traveling with my 25-year-old son, and we were both very comfortable with this hotel. It is not located particularly near any tourist spots in Prague or other places where we visited, but its situation allowed for easy access to the metro, tram, laundromat, restaurants, cash machines, etc.

Room was located next to the lift - noisy. Pleased that I checked bill on check out as reception had duplicated one night. Otherwise staff very helpful and friendly offering excellent travel advice. Location 10mins walk Wenceslas Sq, 20mins walk Old Sq. Area around hotel and Wenceslas Sq a bit scary late night (groups of youths, etc intimidating; few police). Generally we really enjoyed our 3 nights in Prague. Weather was excellent. People friendly. Restaurants & food excellent (even for vegetarians) Architecture superb.

Frankly, it's better than my expectation! Spacious room, professional service and cleanliness are all above standard comparing with the price. The staffs are very helpful. The location is very good. It's only walking distance to the city centre. Close to metro & tram station plus various fastfood shops around. It will be perfect if the hotel name outside would be bigger. The room we had looked exactly like the ones in the pictures, very spacious and lovely really. Only downpoints of our stay was no coffee and tea making facilities in the room and the bath/shower head didn't have a high holder thing so you had to hold it to have a shower. Oh and only instant coffee at breakfast. Having said that the breakfast was nice, simple but nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful and overall we had a lovely stay. I would reccommend this hotel.

Great location, less than a minute walk from IP Pavlova metro & trams are just outside the door. The hotel is away from the tourist hordes which is a plus. Prague has an excellent public transport system taking you to the main attractions in minutes. The room was spacious clean and nicely heated with a lovely view onto the street. We ate heartily each morning on the well stocked continental breakfast. I would recommend the restaurant Matylda on the same street for good quality & reasonable Czech food & drink. I will definitely stay here again the next time I return to beautiful Prague.

I cannot say enough about the staff of this hotel. They were the most pleasant hotel staff members that we've encountered in years of traveling. They were welcoming, helpful and just wonderful. I might add that we were traveling with our dog and they were more than accomodating; they actually took that time to greet her as well as us every time we entered the lobby. Of course, that doesn't say anything for the hotel in and of itself. That was equally enjoyable. The interior of the lobby, the hallways, the rooms, the breakfast area ... totally spotless. We did sleep with the windows cracked open because it was a little warm and there was a good amount of street noise, mostly trams, but you get used to it. This isn't a little country village in Tuscany; it's Prague! It is noisy. The bed was comfortable enough by European standards and the breakfast was more than adequate (except they use instant coffee, so not so good there). The bar/lounge was very comfortable and they provide free Internet access. As for the location, it is a few steps away from one of the busiest tram stops, IP Pavlova, and you can get to anywhere in the city from there in just a few stops. No, it isn't right in the heart of all the sights but neither is the price. There is a tobacco shop at the tram stop where you can buy tickets, too. Bottom line? We would stay here again and again no matter what European city it was in; Prague, Paris, Venice, anywhere. We would recommend it to anyone. If you want the Ritz, stay at the Ritz, but this little place far exceeds its 3-stars. To top it all off, they have a staff of friendly people that would put any other hotel to shame. These are nice, warm and friendly people and they all deserve a raise!

Our 4 day stay was very good. The hotel gave us 3 rooms on the same floor, next door to each other. The rooms had large double beds, TV, safe and fridge with lovely furniture. The shower was not a power shower but it was very clean with your towels changed everyday. The breakfast area was a good bright room downstairs with excellent continental breakfast. Juices, tea, coffee, hot water & milk and chocolate. Fresh fruits, yogarts, rolls, breads, cakes, cheeses, hams ect. The lounge had a lovely size TV with comfortable chairs and settees, you could get a drink at anytime. There was also a bar in the lounge but it could have had a few more different types of drinks. You could use the internet freely and with no charge. The decoration in the hotel was very good and looked newly done. It was in a good location for trams & station and a 5 to 8 mins walk to Wens Sq and about a 15 mins walk to the river. There was a locked room where you could leave your cases in until departure. We arranged with the hotel for a pick up and drop off service to the airport and the service was very cheap and good.We had a very good stay with no hickups.

The initial impression of the hotel was poor because we were given a fairly dark room on the top floor, with a 2-foot wide window opening to the sky. It seemed that the room was in the attic. Reason? Cos we asked for a room on upper floors. So you may want to specify rooms on upper floors, but not the top floor, unless you enjoy looking at the sky. However, upon our request, the hotel management soon changed our room to one one floor below, facing the street. Apart from this hiccup, the stay was enjoyable. The room was spacious and clean. Towels were changed daily and very clean. The shower worked very well. However, the beds were very narrow and the lights could be brighter. The public areas appeared to be recently renovated and were bright and pleasant. We did not have a chance to test the air-conditioning system as throughout our stay, the outdoor temperature was anything between 13 to 22 degrees celsius. We closed the windows in this weather and the room was therefore quiet. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite adequate. Apart from the usual bread and butter, cereal etc., there were cold cuts and cheese platter. There was also a computer with free internet connection for guest use. Location-wise, the hotel was very convenient. A tram stop and a metro station were just round the corner, won't be more than 3 minutes' walk from the hotel. There were many restaurants near by. KFC was at the street corner, McDonald on the opposite side of the road, a Chinese restaurant and pizza shop near the metro station. If you are not very particular about staying in or very close to the Old Town, I would recommend this hotel to you.

Hotel Tyl Prague is a hotel that I can safely recommend to travellers to Prague. It was very clean, and staff were pleasant and friendly. Our stay at Hotel Tyl could not be bettered, and provided a very personal service. The room was very quiet, large, furnished with solid attractive furniture with ample space to unpack, also an alcove with desk and arm chairs & safe deposit box. The recently renovated bathroom was excellent. A good cold buffet breakfast was provided , and a bar served drinks and coffee in the evenings, and had internet access. Staff were extremely helpful. The Metro and main tourist trams were 50 m away; the Museum in Wenceslas Square was only 1 Metro stop or 10 to 15 minutes walk away, and the tram 22 went across the river right to the Castle. The local Cafe Matylda was great for snacks or full meals, with other bars and cafes in the area.

Hotel Tyl is situated slightly away from the main tourist magnets, but none are difficult to get to either on foot or by tram. Both tram stops and the metro are within 100 metres of the hotel. The Tyl is clinically clean, rooms are large and well furnished. The staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast is fine. There is a 24hour bar and free internet facility in the lounge. You can buy a pass for use on all public transport for any number of days, costing around Sterling 5.50 for 3 days. Don't be conned by people offering good rates of exchange for foreign currency. Exchange money in main banks.

Good value *** property. We had large rooms on top (6th) floor. Recently renovated. Furniture was 'antique' but in good condition. Very close to all public transport: short ride / walk to downtown. Fast food close. Good breakfast. Air conditioning was poor on hot days. Water flow was interrupted sometimes for up to 10 minutes. Internet was available on free public computer.

We stayed for 3 days in June. Hotel was excellent, staff polite & helpful in all areas. The hotel location is good ...you can walk to the old town easily takes 20 minutes. Also a few local bars and eating places close. Would have no problem recommending and would certainly stay again if returning to Prague. Mark & Chris, Canberra, Australia

We were absolutely delighted with the room and service. ALL of the employees were extremely helpful and informative. Transit to all parts of the city are at the front door and about a block from the hotel is a nice neighborhood to wander without crowds of tourists. Our room was the largest we had in a month of travelling. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We spent 3 days in Prague in May 2007, the hotel booking went very smoothly, the rooms and services were very good quality. The location was fairly central, the public transport system made it easy to get about. I would recommend getting a 3 day pass if, like us, you aren't quite sure where you're going & want to explore. Eating out in areas just off the centre gives far better value for money. We had a lovely time, although no-one seems to smile much!

If you need a nice hotel with an excellent value in Prague, don't hesitate and book at the Tyl hotel. Remeber also that the very close tram station offers to you a cheap seesighting tour to the old town and the castle.

This was our first time in Prague and we stayed for 3 very enjoyable days. Lovely hotel! The hotel wasn't pretentious but had extremely high standards. It was also very comfortable and we felt at ease straight away. I was extremely amazed on how clean the hotel was, I did not see a speck of dust or spot of grime anywhere and it had a fresh feel to it as it has been recently refurbished and redecorated. The staff were very friendly, considering that we'd heard that people in Prague find it harder to smile! Obviously not so! Me and my husband enjoyed the breakfast spread each morning, which consisted of croissants, rolls, ham, cheese, cereal, juice etc. If I had to find one negative then it would be that the hotel is a trek away from the main area of Prague, although we didn't mind as we enjoyed the 20-30 min walk especially in the evening when we'd had a heavy meal. Plus you'll find all the cheaper bars on the way outside the touristy areas, so a drink could be a good excuse to have a break! For those who don't like walking, the tram stops only a few yards away from the hotel, and will save you 20 mins! We chose this hotel based on the high ratio of recommendations and can definitely say that we were very pleased with the decision and would definitely stay at Tyl again if we came back to Prague.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tyl - Bedroom was spacious with clean and efficiently designed bathroom. Warm and friendly staff. Hotel is 15-minute walk to Wenceslas Square or 3 subway stops away from city centre; around the corner from busy street intersection, church and eateries (pizza, KFC and McDonalds).

We stayed at the Tyl for four nights, three at the start of our trip and again on our last night. The rooms were spacious, clean, newly renovated and well appointed. The staff was more than helpful -- getting us taxis, helping with directions, providing wake up calls and even arranging for us to get breakfast an hour earlier than 7 a.m. so we could eat before we caught our plane. The only downside was the location. Definitely not a hotel for those travelers averse to walking or using the subway (a stop right around the corner). It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town Square, and Charles Bridge. But overall a nice hotel and a great stay for the price!!

This was by far the best hotel I stayed in during my recent visit to Europe. Prague is a beautiful city this hotel was full of features and I could not beat the price. Very close to subway and tram stops. The room is very spacious. The bathroom is large with an enclosed shower and is off the entrance and is seperate from the bedroom, which offered extra privacy. The breakfast was very very good a very large selection of meats, breads, sweet rolls coffee, tea. The breakfast room was very large also. There is a lounge off the main reception area that offers drinks all and best of all FREE internet access, this was a plus for us, to be able to send emails check bank accounts etc without going out of the hotel. The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful with directions. When we could not book a room in Munich, we were able to stay another night here for the same rate as booked on venere without a problem. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Prague looking for first rate quality hotel with easy access to all the sites.

Le stanze sono molto grandi, il servizio di pulizie è molto efficiente. il personale è molto cortese con addetti alla reception italiani che ci hanno dato molte indicazioni sia turistiche che culturali. non c'è dubbio, ne è valsa la pena.

Second time here. This is close enough to the centre of the city for us as it is quiet at night and only a short walk away. Plenty of good eating places for quality and value close by, especially the Pivovarsky Dum.(in-house brewed beer).

We were in Prague for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay at Tyl Prague. The room was lovely and spacious, double glazed, so quiet even though facing the street. Also v clean. Staff were all v helpful and friendly. The bar area had all the world cup matches on -a bonus after a hard days sight seeing! Location - only a 10-15 mins walk to Old sq also v close to metro and tram lines to get to all places of interest- though all walkable with good shoes. We would go back

The employees of the hotel went out of their way to provide information, their recommendations proved extremely helpful, and we were even personally greeted by the hotel director. Very nice and extremely clean rooms, and considering what we paid it was much more luxurious than we thought. The location was nice too, only a couple minutes from the old town center and a few steps from the train station.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tyl. We were greeted by an extremely friendly staff. They made recommendations each night for places to eat dinner - and both restaurants were fantastic (very diverse food selection - they were nice enough to recommend an excellent vegetarian restaurant - which is hard to find in Prague!). Hotel was a little hard to find (a very small sign outside) but once we got our bearings outside of the train station, we were able to find it (It's literally right next to a Kentucky Fried Chicken!). Rooms were big and bright and clean (there was a slight smokey smell - but honestly, *everyone* smokes in Prague, so it was unavoidable). Breakfast was very nice - lots of breads, lunch meats, cheeses, yogurt, coffee, juices and teas available. Security was very good, and made us feel quite safe (you have to ring a buzzer to get in, and you leave your key with the bellman). Staff was on duty 24-7. They had a small bar and sitting room, where you could order drinks and relax. Easy access to the train stations, and public transportation. An excellent bargain for the price - I would definitely return to Hotel Tyl on our next trip to Prague.

We had a most wonderful stay. The staffs were most helpful and welcoming. Rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated in white and blues, with antique furniture. There was a PC next to the bar and it was FREE for the guests to browse the Internet. The hotel is located just around the corner from the I.P.Pavlova Metro station(Line C). Many trams stop at the station including 22 and 23 that go to the Prague Castle. The surrounding area is not so touristy and felt safe even at night time. Hotel Tyl is a small and well-managed hotel that provides quality personal services. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

We chose this hotel based on the number of good reviews and would very much agree. The staff were friendly, room was spotless and quite spacious, comfortable lounge area, decent buffet breakfast and the hotel is very close to good transport links. When we booked, the hotel sent maps and suggestions on how to get there. We used the bus and metro, costs about £0.50, no problem but watch out for pickpockets ! We missed our first night due to snow closing Prague airport but the hotel did not charge us for that night; did not even have to ask. We would highly recommend the Hotel Tyl.
