We found the Hotel Petr an excellent value - the accommodation for 4 of us in one room was spatious - not fancy, but clean and comfortable. There was party noise from a neighbouring building one evening, but it did not go on too late.

This was my first stay at Hotel Petr and it was a very nice hotel in the Smichov district away from the busy Old Town Square where it can be noisy. It's right by Petrin Hill which has a lovely park to walk in. The Andel Metro is just a 10 minute walk away with the bus station right behind it. The Old Town Square and Charles Bridge can easily be walked to in 15 to 20 minutes. There are small fruit and grocery stores very close and the big Tesco grocery store is in a shopping mall just within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were all very nice and helpful. You can also buy Tram and Metro tickets for the same price at the hotel and you don't have to deal with the machines on the street which was nice. The breakfast was plentiful and good with a variety of meat, cheeses, breads, cereals, vegetables, drinks and some fruit. Also, had boiled eggs and scrambled eggs one week out of the two weeks I spent at the hotel. The rooms were just like the pictures with a nice bed, sitting area and bathroom. I had a dressing area with a nice closet for my cloths. TV, refrigerator, hot water for tea and coffee were provided in the room. Having found this on Venere's website I took a chance from the other reviews and was very pleased with the room, staff and the breakfast for my 10 day stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. They also have a private locked garage if you are driving a car.

If price is your priority, this is definitely a good one. But it's not conveniently located. It's a bit of a hassle to go back and forth by tram esp. when you are travelling with small children and old ppl. Though it's located on a seem-to-be quiet street, I still couldn't sleep well with the windows open due to the noise of cars passing by. In my brother's room, there's cable TV but only local TV channels in my room. I called the reception and she was basically saying "that's the way it is, wait for a technician tomorrow morning!" The sink in our room was totally stopped up. The fridge was not very cold but always good to have it anyway.

Heat was a bit of a problem and they supplied fans. Of the 3 rooms we had, one fan broke down. Very clean rooms and the pricing was exceptional for the value. Front desk was very helpful and cheerful for us. Town was also very enjoyable. A bit of a walk for younger kids or mature adults to town across river. Excellent breakfast.

The Hotel Petr staff was welcoming from the very 1st email...to the last arranged taxi ride to the train station. They made everything easy for us visitng for our first time in Czech Republic. We were met at the airport by a friendly man, and then we settled in to a clean, roomy room for the 4 of us. We were able to walk everywhere, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, only missed fresh fruit--but the food was plentiful and delicious. Each staff person was helpful and spoke very good English. I recommend Hotel Petr to others -- a great VALUE. Some may want to stay closer to old town. We visited a nearby park and enjoyed the walks to the river and into town.

I stayed at double bedded room in Petr which had enough facilities for me and my friend. Breakfast was also great, and the staffs were gentle and friendly. The access from the tram station was very close so that even though it was a bit far from the old town, we were able to move around the city of Prague by using public transportation. I really reccommend Petr as the place for the visitors to stay in Prague.

This an is excellent hotel, very spacious, in a historic, but very well-maintained building. Tram and metro provide easy access to the historic areas of the city. The staff is friendly and competent. The rooms are large by European standards, the bathroom is nice. Definitely a great value!!!

We (myself, husband and teenage son) arrived at the hotel at 8am on the 22nd Aug after spending a sleepless night on the overnight train from Slovakia. We asked if it was okay to leave our bags with them as we knew check in was not until 2.00pm. The receptionist said if we could just wait a moment. She went off to check something came back within a minute and said the room would be ready for us in 10 minutes. I could have hugged her as we all felt really scruffy and very tired. I later went down to ask the same girl if we could have breakfast for that morning and pay the extra. When we came to check out on the 23rd they had not added the extra breakfasts to our bill so we mentioned this and they said no charge. We did pay some extra on top of the very reasonable cost of the room for the 3 of us as a thank you for their wonderful service. I would recommend this great little hotel to everyone. It was in a good location but away from the noisy traffic. Breakfast was excellent, a good choice of breads, cereals, meats, cheeses and drinks. All in all it made the last day of our trip very relaxing.

Very nice hotel on a street with very little traffic. New and very nice bathrooms. We had two rooms. One room was a very spacious room with no noise at all. The other room was nice too, had aircon and you could hear the traffic from a nearby street a little bit. In one of the rooms we sleept 3 people, and all the beds were fine. The hotel is in a walking distance to most sights in central Prague (15 minuttes). Or you can take a tram 5 minuttes from the hotel. Hotel is very close to the nice Petrin Hill Park. A big modern shopping center is in a walking distance to the hotel. Next to this shopping center you'll find a metro station. Tour boats on the river can be found close to the hotel as well. Breakfast was OK. But they very often ran out of boiled eggs (and the eggs were always cold). No fresh fruit. Sometimes all tables were occuppied at breakfasttime and we had to wait. Helpfull staff at the desk.

Hotel Petr has an excellent location. It's very close to the city center (3 tram stops) and has an excellent tram communication with the rest of the city. Relationship between price/location is great. However, it has also some disadvantages: I lived in a room with a window looking onto a loudy house-construction, where the workers were starting at 7(!) a.m., also on Saturday! I think that such room should not be rented at all or at least there should be a discount! Once I had to work all day in the room and I could not concentrate at all... The only possibility was to close the window but than it was terribly hot inside. The other thing was a room service-I was waiting 2 days for a shower-soap refilling, and finally, when I asked for it for a third time in the reception, the receptionist gave me the soap and instructed me to change it by myself... Rather strange. Breakfasts are typical continental ones - everyday the same, nothing very special (once I found the toasting bread mouldy). And you should remember to come to eat much earlier than it is written on the breakfast room door – once I went there like 5 minutes before closing and I had to kindly ask to get food. Some dishes were already taken out – I didn’t get them :/ So, my general opinion is 6,5 / 10 (10 for the location/price, 3 for the rest). If you are going only to sleep and eat breakfast in Petr – you should stay there!

Really good hotel, we stayed for 3 nights and although it is not in the center of Prague; you will easily get there walking. If not, take the tram (18 czk, aprox 75 cents 03/07/09) and you be in less than 10 minutes in the heart of the city. Spacious rooms and very clean. The stuff might not be the nicest, but you won´t be spendind the time with them anyway. Beautiful city, recommended, as well as the hotel.

I stay in one double bed room. The location is great, we can either take the bus or just simple walk 15 mins to underground station. Staff is helpful, room very clean. It has some car noise happen in evening but not serious. The buffet breakfast is better than we except with good quality and qnantity. The equipment inside the rm is new particular the bathroom. I will surely stay in this hotel again and wish it can maintain the same standard with similar price. Alan.

Hotel was compared to the price excellent! It was about 15-20 minutes to walk to the old town and you can also use trams. There is Tesco mall near the hotel which is open until 23. There is also metro connection near Tesco. Breakfast was sufficient (bread, cereals, ham, cheese, peppers and cucumber and tomatoes, orange juice and coffee) and the staff of the hotel were very helpful

Would recommend hotel for spacious rooms, price, breakfast, located 200m from main street on West side of river, numerous restaurants, large Tesco at bottom of street although we didn't find it until the day we were leaving. Buildings in area being refurbished but felt safe enough walking about even late at night. No building sites. Downside: 1) no kettle or other means for hot drinks in the room. 2) bar and relaxation area (with free internet) was out of use to residents due to a conference taking place. 3) the driver of the airport taxi arranged by the hotel still expected a tip despite charging far more than the normal airport shuttles. The hotel said there was no extra charges. He didn't get one.

Shuttle service by bus was offered from Holesovice station. While on the one hand this was quite convenient, we'd assumed this could be payed together with the Hotel bill. This was not the case. Having just arrived in Cz, we had no Koruny, and had to fumble for the equivalent amount in Euro. This ramshackle arrangement was a dubious welcome to Prague.

Very basic hotel, but very good relationship between price and quality: the room was spacious and clean, and that's what we were looking for a little bit far from the main attractions, but we are used to walk, and we liked to go back in the night after a good dinner...and two (or more) good beers...
