Exception hotel in terms of price to quality ratio, particularly for Europe. The room was comfortable with a great view and a clean and comfortable bath. Nothing fancy, but nice. There was a PC downstairs which could be used to access internet. Breakfast was not fancy, but sufficed. The main potential negative is that it is some distance from the metro: you have to take tram (one stop) and then walk up a steep hill. It is very comfortable to the castle, but I would not advise this to someone who is elderly or is not physically fit. Area around (Mala Strana) is very historic and safe. Restaurant was so-so.

The room was in the side of the castle street so we were directly in front of the people!

The room was at the top floor. The windows were small but gave us a wonderful view of stare mesto Prag. The room was cozy, but small with barely enough storage space. The beer was good and so was the food offered, both in general and for the breakfast buffet. We would certainly return to this hotel.

Really charming. At the top of the well-traveled cobble-stoned Nerudova Street and right underneath (literally) Prague Castle. The only drawback was that you have to walk up and down a very very steep hill to get to and from the hotel...there is no other way. So for older travelers and folks with any physical limitations this should be a consideration.

Beautiful historic property in lovely upper part of the city. Wonderfully helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Rooms very nicely decorated. Overall an excellent hotel and great value for the location and ambience.

The single thing to improve is the breakfast It is always the same choice without scramble eggs and bacon, smoked fish, backery. No choice of marmelade from jars The coffee is also poor.

The information on airport/train station pickup-delivery service is misleading. Some of your write-ups listed a price. This one did not which gave the impression there was no charge. The last night was expensive in relation to the other four nights - which I do not understand, but I booked because it appeared that there was no charge for the airport service. The desk people were very nice. The breakfast servers were not particularly warm and often were not attentive to replentishing items.

The Golden Star Hotel is a perfect basis for whoever travels to Prague for the first time, since its location (in the real historical centre of the city, quarter Mala Strana, justs a few steps from the Castle and Charles Bridge) allows tourists to move easily around the most interesting places and monuments. If you are not interested in taking a taxi from airport to hotel, I can suggest to use means of transports: the service is fast and it would take half an hour, quite the same as taking a taxi. You take bus n°119 at the airport up to the stop Dejvicka. There take the tube (green 'A' line) until Malostranskà stop. Then take a new bus (12,20,22,23) just one stop up to Malostranska Namesty. Then you have to walk up to the hotel, but since the way is a steep slope 400 mtrs long, I sincerely DO NOT recommend this chioce to lazy bones, or to those people having too much luggage or having serious difficulties in walking. As for the hotel, breakfast is very good, cleanliness of bath/bed linens is excellent, the staff is moderately friendly, but competent. Unfortunately our room (32, third floor) was very small and since it was sunlighted all day long, the small fan provided was not enough to guarantee comfort and sleeping at night. Anyway, I would greatly recommend this hotel, even if it may be considered a little bit expensive, but the relationship price/quality has to consider the location, which is absolutely worth the price.

Being the moderately quiet period at the end of July, we were given one of the best rooms on the top floor of the hotel. The room looked straight down Nerudova Street to the main part of Mala Strana and across the river to Stare Mesto and Nove Mesto. The hotel was also just round the corner from Prazsky Hrad. Excellant location. Having breakfast on the terrace in front of the hotel, looking down Nerudova, was perfect. Room was large and clean. Being at the top of the hotel there was no problem with noise, even though Nerudova ran alongside the hotel. Staff were very helpful at all times, even arranging for a CEDAZ airport shuttle bus to pick us up. Being able to leave luggage in a locked store until the CEDAZ shuttle arrived at 4pm was very helpful.

Great area. Beautiful hotel. But regarding the fact it's a four star hotel you would have expected more public areas (no drawing room), especially the room for the breakfeast is small and always packed. The buffet for the breakfeast was also disappointing (no local pastries).

We thought the location was perfect; a great place from where to start your day, quiet in the evening, great views, excellent service, superb breakfasts. I would recommend this hotel as a perfect place to stay in Prague.

A handsome, spacious, and quiet hotel as close to the castle as possible. The only thing to be aware of ahead of time is that the tram stop is at the bottom of the hill. Unless you take a taxi, you will need to be fit enough to walk up the hill. For those who can, the hotel is ideal.
