I paid 19 Euro for a single room/1 night. This was more than reasonable price for this kind of accommodation. I needed to be in Prague in early morning, so I did not care about details very much. For one-night-stay and if you are not fussy about cleanliness, noise and atmosphere, it was OK. For a longer stay it is not appropriate. Old furniture, poor lightening, poor bedsheets, even a little beatle in the bed. Though, breakfast was quite well prepared.

Was the worse hotel I have ever stayed. The room wasnt ready when we arrived at the hotel. The sheets were old and smelly, bathroom was dirty, it has hair everywhere, the towels smelly. After we return to the room the second day it wasnt clean. The staff knows only one expression We will do our best, but in reality they dont do anything. I dont recommend this hotel...

The hotel was good value for money. The sheets were patched and had a hole in them and I was woken up by a television in a nearby room one night. Other than that it was fine. I was traveling alone.

It is appropriate for the price and the reception staff are really helpful and speak english. I like walking and I was able to walk all the way into the old-town area each day. I was on the 3rd floor of the alternate-building of the Golden City Hotel, but it was only a small walk across the road to reception and breakfast. The breakfast each morning was great, filled me up. The hotel is in a slightly grottier part of town but fine. There was only one of the two internet portals working. You can walk to the main train station from the hotel or else it is 2 tram stops away.

Perfectly connected with the town centre (4 tram stops). Buy free circulation tickets (1 or 5 days) for public transports. Supermarket close to the hotel (open 7-20) Clean but not good smelling. Abundant breakfast but of low quality. Ratio quality/price very good.

We booked this hotel inspired in the good reviews and the excellent price-quality relationship, and we didn't make a mistake. Very well located, just 2 stops by tram from the Train Central Station and 4 stops from the Republic Square downtown, plenty of shops and even a supermarket across the street (including an amusing sex shop for those who are not so chast). Our room was huge, a little oldie but looked newly refurbished, we had a dining room with a kitchenette, microwave and a fridge. At the front desk, they exchanged Czech crowns at the best rate in town and sold the bus-tram-metro integrated tickets. The breakfast was just amazing, very complete and tasty. My only complains would be that the towels were like old rags, really tough and scratchy; so if you love your skin, you'd better bring your own. However this small detail can't tarnish the excellent overall quality offered by the hotel, we'd definitely stay again!

Nice place to spend one or several nights. Very friendly personnel, all we've met spoke perfect Russian. Copies of Gustav Klimt paintings everywhere. The only problem is a bit too complicated car parking, but they provide assistance. You can find rooms in Prague cheaper, even in the very center. But if you need to stay in a hotel, this is a nice choice.

Golden City Hotel is very well located regarding the centre of Prague. 4 stops taking many trams!!. The only down side although we were given a very nice suite is that the noise in the street was very loud from 5 in the morning and also the overall cleaning of the rooms was not enough. The personel were very helpful and nice, the breakfast very varied and good. The zone is not a very good one since all the sex shops are on the same street.

Total impression is positive! Good location: tram stop is near hotel. 3-4 station and you are in the center of Prague. Small hotel, rooms are quite simple but well. Breakfast was good and fresh. I had no claims to personnel for all duration of stay there. So, this is a very good and cheap hotel in 3* category. If I'll go to Prague I'll choose this hotel again.

Nice Hotel for the price , a bit out the way but only a few minutes to old town using the tram (No 9 ) , buy a ticket at the hotel desk for the day about £3 . Hotel was very good value , clean , and the staff were excellent ,very polite and helpful , nice breakfast , only gripe was there is no hotel bar as stated , just a fridge at reception , but even so at 25pence a beer and somewhere to sit its still not bad . Plus side to area was that all bars are cheap round there , just walk a few yards back towards town and theres a great music bar on the left A few tips .... 1. DO NOT use the taxis from town at night , all they need is a stripey jumper and a mask , they will try to rip you off and charge 800 crowns ( £35 ) for a 3 minute taxi !!. the trams are safe , regular and run late , if it essential to use a taxi then the hotel can sort you one . 2. buy a map , simple i know but will save you searching and the maps sold at the info office on jeruselem ave have the tram routes imprinted on the roads including stops so you can plan your journeys .The official tram maps are very confusing . 3.Steer clear of the bars and cafes in the old town square and wenceslas square , they are a con, a fiver for a COFFEE OR A SMALL BEER ! . Go a few streets away and the price drops to a quid . Most bars around the garni except the sport bars cost around 80 pence for a large beer . All in all a nice hotel , lovely place and dont forget to visit the castle !!

When we checked into this hotel we were sent across the street to a sister hotel. There was a large group of young people checking in right before us and the front desk lady told us we would be more satisified over there. Was quiet but worn. I've stayed at nicer hotels for the same money. Transportation to city center was easy and several good resturants down the street. The Porno shop directly across the street was alarming but we had no problems. I really don't consider myself a mature couple but maybe those checking in before us would.

First of all, it never happened to us that an hotel obliged the costumers to pay in advanced like they made to us for the 6 nights we stayed there (they made the same to all costumers!...) Second: the room don´t have any correspondence with the photos from the web site. We stayed there in the loft... Third: we arrived at the room and it was completey dirty (many hairs in the floor and so on); and we didn´t notice any changes in the next days!; the bath room didn´t have any soap or shampoo for all the time... Forth:The sheets were very poor and never saw the iron; the bed (the mattress) it was not confortable Fifth: The breakfast was quiet good...(the only thing good we find it there in Golden City Hotel

The hotel is well located, near the main railway station and the town center. By tram you can go everywhere (for instance, 26 + 119 to the airport). Rooms are clean and nice. Breakfast is very good and internet is free. My room was in front of the street, and was a bit disturbed by trams.

It was terrible. The reception service is too bad. One day there was no water at the hotel and we had to go to a truck to get water our selves and take it to the room. the reception man is so unkind and rude. Finally he gave us the key of other room in front of the hotel so in that way we could take a shower there, and then we had to croos the stree with our things in a bag.....The hotel does not have a emergency service for that situations. The neighborhood is no too nice either. Really bad experience.

Not a bad hotel, but in a very scary area. Lots of sex shops around and a sex house in the back. Room spacious. Old bathrooms and windows. Cleanliness OK. Breakfast abundant, but everything tasted awful. Receptionists mood changes from guest to guest. Found it difficult to get tram tickets in the tabacco shop as nobody else outside the hotel speak English and the guy sold us 5 children ones and didn't accept when I tried to return them. Overall, it seems much nicer in the photos!

The hotel was basic but had everything you need for a short stay and was clean. The breakfast was excellent. Whilst the hotel is not in the most select of areas, we found this to be a bonus. It was nice not to be in a really touristy area and we ate at a couple of the local restaurants which were much better than those in the centre. The restaurant Sklep, which is on the main road into town (one stop on the tram if you're being lazy!) was excellent - good, cheap authentic food. I'd read it was walking distance to most of the main sights, although in all honesty it was further out. This was not a problem though as a tram stop is right outside. The trams are very frequent and cheap ansd it's quite fun to be able to hop on and off all over the city (get a day ticket). Overall, not fancy, but good value and fine for a few days away.

Not the best experience at this hotel - firstly horrible directions to find the place! The front desk man not very friendly at all, demanded we pay up front - the credit card machine failed to work (apparently!), so he wanted us to pay cash - which we did for only one night, then paying on checkout the card machine was miraculously working when the other lady used it!! no a/c so needed to have window open - the trams run ALL night right outside window - VERY NOISY! even though we had requested room away from street! no sleep. Surrounding area not that nice - directly opposite the local erotic shop!! one very nice older man who helped us with our car was the only good thing!

If you arrived late by trains, you should arrange for the hotel to pick you up instead of using the tram. The train station area seems a bit scary. The cab will ask for about 23 euros, but it should be about 8 euros. I paid 10 euros. I believe the hotel will go cheaper so it is better to use the hotel service. The hotel indicates that it has Laundry service, but it doesn't. The Laundry was broken months ago, and it has not been fixed. They won't tell you where else to go. The hotel in general is friendly and helpful except one front desk receptionist. She is a little bit rude, but still nice comparing to how rude the customer service people are in Prague.

This is a really lovely hotel, with just one problem. The staff are friendly + helpful. The rooms are kept fresh and clean. There is free Wifi. It is 3-4 km to get into town, but the streetcar runs every 5 minutes and goes directly into town and the Charles Bridge. The only problem is the Nudel Bar across the street - TERRIBLY NOISY - I was kept up until 3am on two nights of my stay. The hotel called the cops and risked their lives fighting it out with the bar managers and patrons. But this battle has been going for 3 years, so it may not change. We're talking pumping music and shouting hooligans in the street. If they can fix this problem, this is a great hotel.

Breakfast was included in the price although we were not sure at time of booking, and it was an excellent continental breakfast with lots of choice. Free internet was available in reception, there was a seperate internet room but they were not working. Very close to a tram stop. We had a family room on the side of the building and could only hear the trams slightly but from conversations from other guests the rooms on the front were noisy. Reception staff very informative and spoke enough English to understand each other. We were greated at the airport by an arranged hotel taxi which made our arrival at the Hotel quick and able to get into Prague for the remainder of the day. 5 mins walk to TV tower, spectacular at night. 5 min on tram to Old Town Sq.

I was travelling with my girlfriend. The hotel was very nice: near the tram stop (about 50 m.) at 10 minutes from the centre. If I would came back to prague I'll choose it.

Very friendly staff. Free use of internet! Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Tram stops at the front of the hotel: within 10 minutes you are in the centre of Prague.

At the price that we paid, the Golden City was a pretty good deal. Though it is not in the most fashionable part of town, it is directly on a tram line that makes it very easy to get into the center of Prague. The breakfast was quite good, with the exception the instant coffee. But at $60 USD per night, we could afford to frequent some of Prague's nicer coffee houses! All in all, a good value and pleasant enough place to rest between excursions in the city.

This hotel was so hospitable and accommodating!! Our friends arrived by over-night plane from Alaska and were allowed to check in early and partake of the breakfast buffet upon arrival. The staff is friendly and competent in multiple languages. The breakfast buffet was large and delicious and the hotel encouraged you to take food and beverages with you tot he room or for a mid-day snack by providing to-go bags. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The reception provided tourist information, booked concert tickets and taxis and exchanged money at a favorable rate for us. The tram stopped right in front of the hotel (which wasn't noisy enough to keep us awake at night) but it was only a 20 minute walk to the major sights downtown. A great place to stay if you're a first time visitor to Prague and only have a short stay there. The quality for the price just can't be beat!

Very good hotel! It is within walking distance of Prague centre and tourist areas, about 20-45mins (depends of how fast you walk!). Although the trams are so easy and cheap to use walking is not required. 3 trams stop right outside the hotel and run about every 5-10 mins. Hotel staff very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms etc are very clean and well decorated. Oh, and the minibar is very cheap! All in all this is a great hotel in Prague for a great price.

This room was very nice, and the price was great. The tram line runs right in front of the building, so it is easy to get around. The staff was good to give directions. The only negative about this place is the amount of cigarette smoke you have to endure in the common areas, except the non-smoking breakfast room. The breakfast was excellent.

I stayed at the golden city in september 2006 for 4 nights. you definitely can not walk to any sights; however, the tram is right outside the door so very convenient as you can take any one of, i think, 4 lines which run every few minutes. it was clean and reasonably priced, but i would rate this a 2* establishment, not 3*.

The hotel was quite good, the employees were very kind and helpful. There was internet available for free in 3 computers located in different rooms of the hotel. The breakfest was ok. The hotel is located at the side of a tram stop were you can get trams to the city center (~10 min) and also to the aeroport (~45 min + a bus that leaves you at the terminals). This is very convenient but has a side effect: the noisy at the rooms! I was in the last floor and still could hear the trams. But only a problem if you are very sleep-sensitive. Overall a good option in Prague that is a fantastic city!!

Ci siamo trovati molto bene.

Excelent relation price/quality. Rooms fully equiped ( TV, safetybox,TV, frigobar, etc). Staff & Manager always able to solve visitors request in a very good mood. Close to centre of city, 15/20m walking, 10m by tram ( in the same block of the hotel ) Breakfast for all the taste & customs ( included in rate ) I strongly reccomend this Hotel if you don't need luxury but you requiere very good services and a fair rate !!!

The Hotel was close to the inner city. 8 minutes with TRAM to Wenzels Place, 20 minutes to the kathedral. The employees were very helpful an competent. The price was o.k. but you should not expect to much! Breakfast was included. Coffee was terrible! I would choose it again.
