The hotel has an ideal quiet situation, but within easy walking distance of all the main sights of Prague. We liked the character of the hotel, with interesting old furniture, paintings and rugs, and lovely parquet wood floors. The breakfast and service was excellent and the room was warm (Feb). Good local restaurants nearby. We appreciated the taxi service.

Casa Marcello was an absolute find and we were more than delighted with the quality of the rooms and service, especially for the price. Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms and up to date bathrooms, with the only drawback being a very hard mattress. The location is perfect - close to all the major sights but far enough from the most central sites to allow for quiet. Definitely recommend Chagall Restaurant, just minutes away from the hotel, and the medieval art collection steps away at the St. Agnes Convent. Josefov sights just around the corner. In all, a real find.

The Hotel is located in the old town.in the hallway are many carpets sculptures, plants and pictures which made you feel very comfortable. the good: rooms are very clean, a very comfrotable feather bed, telephone, tv, free internet, the upper rooms have AC, the lower only a fan, but it was ok. breakfast (til 10:00) had plenty of coices and the coffee was good. the bad: the staff's german was not very good, the garage nearby was expensive (it's better to take P+R in Prague). A nearby pub has played music till 1:00.

Room on 2nd floor. Steep stairs, not suitable for elderly people. Spacious room and excellent bathroom. Furniture nearly missing; good bed, but only one small straight back chair. Two people watching TV; one had to sit/lie in bed. Windows in the ceiling; no view and difficult to air. Breakfast good, but service very slow. When breakfast room busy there constantly shortage of food; you had to ask the kitchen to refill. Bedrooms pictured in hotel overview was nothing like the rooms we got. Location of hotel is very good. If we should go back, we would ask for a room on first floor with a proper window and with a sitting group.

A beautiful hotel. We thought they had mis-quoted the price as we would have expected to pay much more for a hotel of this quality. The breakfast area is very nice - especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside. We will definitely stay there again. The only drawback is it is about 10 minutes walk from the main attractions - but the upside of this is the surrounding area is quiet.

A quiet comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of the main attractions of Prague. We were upgraded at no extra cost from a mini suite to a suite on the 3rd floor - no lifts but worth the effort after a hard day sightseeing even for a 68 year old. The restaurant was closed one night without notice on an evening we had chosen to eat in and even the bar was shut - the staff had apparently gone to a meeting . Otherwise an excellent choice and would stay there again. Very helpful Reception staff.

Nicely suited hotel. Several tricks disappointed me - one reason I've booked this hotel was that they advertised high speed WIFI on all rooms. However, they did not say they wanted to charge 10 euro per hour for it. Also, I've booked for a price in euros, but had to pay commission fee for the change from Czech crowns to euros. The location is excellent, the hotel itself did not make me enthousiast - there are plenty customers more friendly hotels for that price in Prague.

My primary criticism is that the hotel needs an elevator. We were on the 3rd floor (4th by US terminology) and we had to lug our, unfortunately too heavy, bags upstairs ourselves. On the other hand, we had a suite with more room than we needed. The hotel's restaurant could use some improvement, but there is a good restaurant next door. The hotel was difficult to find when we first drove into the city, but we appreciated the quiet location which really was in easy walking distance of everything that we wanted to see. The staff was friendly and generally helpful. I was happy that they were able to accomodate our request for a non-smoking room.

This was a lovely peaceful hotel not far from the centre of the old town. the rooms were comfortable and quiet. the staff were competent, friendly and helpful. The breakfast room could have been bigger but the good breakfast more than made up for it. I would definitely recomend this hotel to friends and family

After extensive web search, we found the Casa Marcello and immediately impressed - our 7-day holiday was exactly as the overview…style, comfort, and quiet. the hotel is a convenient place for all the famous places. After checking in, we were upgraded at the same price. The service is attentive and the breakfast substantial. We dined in the restaurant twice, chef places great value with haute cuisine and the hostess wonderful - 3-course including drinks, £25 for two, a bargain. The bedroom window looked out onto a quiet side-street as promised. The room service was excellent; the rooms were freshened and toiletries changed each day. The linen was good, and the mattress and pillows helped sleep after each days touring. Having stayed in hotels such as the Banyan Tree, Bangkok, we recommend the Casa Marcello to anyone seeking quality 4* hotel and will stay again. Check aerial map on www.google.com/maps

Overall, excellent hotel located in Jewish Quarter near Agnes Convent (helpful in locating when lost). Able to walk from nearest subway staion. Deluxe-Room very spacious and comfortable if slightly spartan feel. Huge bathroom with modern fixtures. Hot water tended to run out in 2nd shower. Staff very friendly and helpful, though mostly young. Breakfast (included) was excellent with eggs, meats, cereals, fresh fruit, juices, cheese and cold meats and breads, rolls and sweet baked goods. Hostess at breakfast very friendly and mother-hen-like. Pub with good draft beer and other drinks. Restaurant with outdoor tables: menu looked good and reasonable, but did not eat meals there. Casa Marcello was recommended and lived up to expectations. Used car-service to get to airport and ontime though slightly pricey (850 CZ)

Nice hotel. great location. the space difference betweeen the larger rooms and a smaller one is huge. The small one is a bit pokey but with a terrific shower. Larger one cavernous by comparison but with a shower in the bath with no curtain, leading to mini-floods on a nightly basis. nice environment with antiques liberally distributed about. good, munch 'till you drop breakfast

A very good hotel, if I return to Praha again I will choose the same hotel. The hotel are placed in a quiet area, but only five minutes walk from the center of old town. The rooms are nice, clean and in good condition. The bathroom was big and seems nearly a little exclusive. The most famous places to visit are in walking distance from this hotel. Praha have a lot of fine places to visit for a good dinner, but one of the most fantasic places was "Kampa Park" nearby Charles bridge. So so beautiful place and with extreamly good food and service. We liked the city and Hotel Casa Marcello very much !!

The hotel was lovely. The breakfast was substantial and good and the location was excellent. We were in Prague for the incredible heat wave, and air-conditioning would have helped a lot. We will only take a room with air in the future. Otherwise, it was excellent.

On Arrival for our 3 night stay, much earlier than we thought, the staff were extremely helpful and let us check in & have the room at 9:30a.m. The porter carried our bags the 3 floors up to the junior suite we had booked. The room(s) were incredibly spacious, with a large bedroom, dressing room with wardrobe & safe, sitting room with armchairs, sofa, and table, and bathroom/toilet, all linked by a hallway/corridor. It was very quiet on the top floor, no complaints about noise. Once we had found our bearings, the hotel was very conveniently located for exploring the Old Town, and Jewish Quarter. We also walked over the Charles Bridge & up to Prague Castle, which took about 30/40 mins to get from the hotel up to the top at a nice gentle pace. Breakfasts were excellent, with even Bacon, Eggs, & Sausages on offer, as well as the usual continental cold fayre. We didn't try the restaurant, as the menu was not displayed anywhere so we couldn't see the choice or price. The only negative point was that the hotel bar appeared to shut/stop serving at 10:30p.m. So, we just popped across the road to Chez Marcel and had a few drinks there. On departure day, our flight was in the evening, and the staf let us keep the room, ordered a taxi to the airport for us, at an agreed time to be back at the hotel, and brought our bags down to the taxi for us. All in all, we had a great time in Prague, and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful location! Right in the vicinity of the key aereas. Hotel located in romantic little street, to narrow for cars, but easily accessible. Staff competent, but generally not overflowing with warmth and smiles (Two great, friendly exceptions: The man who brought in the bags and the one who carried them down at the end of the stay!)

Casa Marcello's sitatuation is just 2 streets down from the river and probably the most ideal position to see the old town of Prague which is just a 10 minutes walk away. You could not find a prettier hotel and with a central courtyard covered by the best 200 year old shaped tree you could find it finished off a days sight seeing and walking. Some interesting furniture too. Good buffet breakfast We had a very comfortable suite (308)on the top floor, (50 stairs), but with Michal carrying the luggage they were no problem. Staff are very freindly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Only sorry we stayed just 3 days but there is always next year. Overall good value, no lift - but not a problem

Good points - distinctive, different & quaint. Airy, well-decorated, clean & sympathetically restored buildings. Good food both in the hotel & in nearby restaurants & bars. Close to city centre, but quietly located. Large room with air conditioning & solid fuel stove. Efficient service, including hotel's own taxi with fixed prices. Negative points - lots of stairs to our room & no lift (didn't bother us, but could be a problem for others). Shower but no bath in our room. Would have liked a kettle / drinks making facilities in the room. Summary - a memorable and enjoyable experience, made better because it wasn't the usual 'corporate' style of hotel.

A watch, which we left in our room when we went out for a concert at the Municipal House (Smetana hall), was not there (stolen) when we came back. The watch was in our room when we left at 8pm but gone when we came back at 1130pm. When we talked to the front desk staff about this we met no understanding or interest in solving the problem for us. She was very defensive and did not want to take notes or listen to our story. She had an offensive and shouting way of dealing with this problem and did not handle it the way you expect from a 4 star hotel (or any hotel). After a long discussion about this problem, she promised to talk to the person that was in charge of the front desk the night this happened. We never heard back from the staff, did not receive any apologies or any attempt to make us feel safe about leaving anything in the hotel room. Because of the incident, and how it was managed (or the lack of…) , we will not visit this hotel anymore. The hotel is not recommended for people that don't appreciate lots of stairs (no lift). The bell boy is helpful to get your luggage to and from the room, but you still have to walk some stairs (not a problem for us, though) The hotel is in walking distance of the sights of the city, but still in a quite part of town. We lived in a junior suite with plenty of room and a newly renovated bathroom (w/tub). There is a mini-bar, but no coffee maker in the room.

Fantastic location and pretty little hotel. Room was spacious (junior suite), very quiet and clean. Hotel gave a complimentary bottle of wine with a hotel meal, which was very good value. Breakfast was good with a varied choice. Only complaint was that the fried eggs were in the same dish as the bacon which for a vegetarian was annoying, but they kindly did me an egg seperately.

A delightful, quiet, well-maintained hotel in a former convent at the edge of the Josefov neighborhood. The room was effectively a suite (with a separate sitting area), and the hotel's patios and public areas were restful. Breakfast was plentiful and well-prepared, but I did not eat dinner at the hotel, although there is a restaurant. The staff was helpful, but, if there was one failing with the hotel it was the staff's lack of in-depth knowledge of the information most tourists would want about typical tourists sites and entertainment. All things considered, the hotel was a highlight of my stay in Prague and I would recommend it highly to anyone who wants the flavor of the old city.

The location is great. Only a plesant 5 minute stroll along to the central square and shops. The former monastairy next door, now part of the national museum, adds nicely to the surroundings and is worth a visit. A couple of decent restaurants in the vicinity. The room at Casa Marchello was supposedly a junior suite. To floors, with bathroom upstairs and bedroom and WC downstairs. The 2nd floor was useless to us. Two armchairs facing the wall, a dresser, no TV, no work space, just made the room uninterresting and strange. Downstairs, the furniture needed to be upgraded. From a 4 star hotel, a little more is expected, i.e. a normal size TV, and reading lights/lamps on each side of the bed, and so on. The bathrooms were quite new and very nice though, although the warm water disappeared after a while. I guess that has to do with Prague plumbing, rather than Casa Marchello? The bellboy/concierge, waiter(s) and most of the staff were very service minded and helpful. All smiles and attentiveness. One of the hotels greatest assets. Means a lot and makes you forget the cold water in the shower. The small garden restaurant is lovely. A glass of wine there before going to out to dinner, is highly reccomended. Did not try the restaurant at the hotel, but breakfast was very nice. To sum things up: Casa Marchello is very charming and has a great location. The staff were attentive and plesant, and the garden café was delightful. Also, the area is nice and quiet. Two factors would make me think twice before staying there again. The price (a little high for this hotel) and the room (needs upgrading). But all in all, very plesant and charming, mostly due to the staff and great location.

I recently had the rather unpleasant experience of staying at the Case Marcello in Prague. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. on March 16, 2005 to discover that the entire staff of the hotel was the receptionist and a security guard. We checked in only to find that there was no one available to assist with our luggage or even to show us where our room was. Apparently, the receptionist was concerned with the flood of other guests which would arrive in the 1 1/2 minutes it would have taken her to show us to our room. After passing through a myriad of corridors, stairways and doors, which required me to leave the luggage in a hallway, and attempt to find the room without the burden of the luggage, we finally found our room. Dismayed somewhat at this point, we spent the rest of the evening trying to find another hotel in which to stay in Prague without avail. The next morning we discovered that the main staircase was being painted requiring guests to use the rear staircase and the furniture was covered with drop cloths for that reason. The garden was closed, understandable given the time of year, but also the bar was closed and the restaurant was closed and would not open until after our departure. on March 20, 2005. We also discovered that Restaurant Agnes is not a restaurant but that guests are referred to yet another hotel which does have a restaurant. On March 18, 2005 I requested the front desk to make reservations for one of the most famous and most expensive restaurants in Prague. I was informed that the hotel had never heard of the restaurant in question. I deferred in that effort only later in the day to discover that the restaurant in question was fully the back cover of the "Where to Dine in Prague" brochure given to us at the time of check in. When I inquired as to how the hotel could be unaware of the major advertiser in its brochure, I was informed that none of the staff was from Prague and all were unfamiliar with the City.

Location is fabulous, walking distance to everything. Rooms were very large and interesting (remodelled 14th-century monastery). Contrary to claims on web site, our otherwise wonderful room had no air conditioning. Staff were friendly and very helpful but not always well-informed (e.g. about internet use and costs). Restaurant was fair, but there are many many restaurants in the vicinity (none great). Altogether we LOVED Prague, including the Casa Marcello.

We had a great time in Prague and the Casa Marcello was a first class hotel. The situation of the hotel was excellent, close to the old town square and the river. Eating and drinking was cheap if you kept away from the tourist areas, i.e. the squares and castle areas.
