The huge plus is Kristina´s human quality: unforgettable and wonderful and noble person, willing to help you in anything you could need. Only that justifies any shortcoming that one could have noticed. The hotel is not at the city´s most central area but at least for me was this meant advantageous because that allowed me to feel the real pulse of it, and not just the turistic flavor, which is indeed the only minus of this incredible city. I definitely will pay a new visit to Prague and will stop at Kristina´s hotel, no doubt

We stayed for seven nights in an apartment on the fourth floor. Kristina and Gastone are great hosts and really make you feel at home. Our apartment was quite large, and the perfect place to relax. The quality and style of the furniture isn't luxurious, but it's funky and comfortable. The hospitality makes you feel more like you are staying at a friend's house than in a hotel, which we loved. The wireless internet upstairs cut in and out but was always working downstairs. We used the laundry facilities with no problems. The cafe downstairs was a nice place to sit and relax, and there is a play area for children. We loved being near the Andel metro (perfectly easy to get around) instead of in old town near the tourist sites. This area of Prague feels much more modern than the old town and has great resources for simply living in the area. You can eat at any of the many restaurants, shop at the large mall, get your groceries at Tesco, and take in a movie at one of the many theaters. I would stay here again if going to Prague.

Before we arrived, the staff were exetremely friendly and efficient in arranging transportation from the airport. On arrival we were given a map of Prague and discussion on the best places to visit and how to get around the city. The room was exactly what we expected, clean and modern with all the facilities you would need for a short stay.

As first time tour in Praha, this hotel is highly recommended due to his price, location especially the warm service. The hotel is only 3 min. walk to Andel station which is a key transfer station of tram, bus, metro. From Andel to central of old town only need 10-15min. with 3 stops. More important is the service of the hotel. Staffs always smiling and warmly to guide your trip. Room is not a large size but very clear and comfortable. You can has a nice dream after whold day's tour. Breakfast is included with high quality and friendly service like in own home. I will strongly recommend this hotel to my friend and will no doubt to select it again if I visit Praha again.

Room was a bit dusty, and walls are thin, so if there are loud guests, you will hear their conversation. Staff is one of the frendliest we've ever seen, and also eager to help. Very spacious room, our even had a kitchen! Although not right at city center, one can either walk (25 minutes) or take a 5 minute tram ride. Many restaurants, bar and a big shopping mall just around the corner.

Others had warned about street noise level but it was higher than I thought. Even with ear plugs it was still noticeable. Wireless internet would not reach the top floor and we would have to go downstairs to use our computer. Location was ok during the day but late at night felt a little less safe. Would stay a little closer to the St. Charles bridge if we were to return. On the last day discovered that the bar next door had great meals.

A great value very close (5 mins) to Andel metro and trams which gives quick access to all sites. The large Tesco hypermarket in the Andel mall and other stores and restaurants are cheap and convenient. The hosts go out of their way to help with transport and advice, and they now take credit cards. Also, they have just installed a washing and drying machine in the hotel which are free! Our week was excellent. The only caveat is that the street is busy and noisy, but with double glazing, the windows shut out the noise at night. This is the first time I have taken the time to write a hotel review, because these folks deserve it!

We will definitely stay at Aparthotel again. Highlights of staying here are: Kristina's welcome and service (friendly without being intrusive), space and cleanliness of rooms, the breakfasts (enormous and great value), kitchenette in our room which meant we could keep "stuff" in the fridge. There is a late opening tesco supermarket in Novy Smichov shopping centre (two hundred metres from the hotel) for everything you could possibly need. The only marks less than 10 that I can give are for the surrounding area: because Andel is a major transit hub for the metro and tram there are a few shady characters around at night: never threatening I have to say, but some people might feel a bit uneasy (nothing to do with Kristina and Aparthotel 5!). We would not recommend the TGI Friday's close to the hotel, very disappointing. The potrefena husa opposite TGI Friday's is much better and better value.

Clean room and very satisfactory for the price. A few metro stops from Old Town. Walking distance to the river. Around the corner was a very good restaurant row. We had particularly good luck with some pub-type eateries - very good authentic Czech food. The meal and beer prices in this area were quite reasonable compared to Old Town.

I booked an 8 day stay at ApartHotel 5 during a wonderful Prague spring in late April. The rooms were spacious, clean, and everything was like new. But even more outstanding was the service given by Kristina and Gaston, the most helpful people ever. From helping me regain lost luggage to putting minutes on my Czech cell phone, and even suggesting places I might apply for a job in Prague. And I saw the same sense of urgency given to other guests as well. I look forward to Kristina's toasties on my next visit to ApartHotel 5.

I booked Aparthotel City 5 as part of a 40th birthday surprise for my partner. I wanted somewhere which offered value for money but still offered comfortable accommodation. Aparthotel City 5 successfully delivered. My only criticism would be that, as we had a double room on street side (all double rooms are), it was very noisy during early morning rush-hour. Perhaps double/triple glazing instead of secondary glazing could help in this regard. That said, Gastone our host could not have been more helpful, and his advice to us about travelling around the city was excellent. In addition,City 5 is very well situated to a large shopping centre with Tesco,H&M,Next,M&S etc all contained within.

The entire staff could not have been more welcoming and accomodating. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would absolutely stay here again if I return to Prague. Although the hotel is not located near the city center, it is a direct and easy walk to nearly all the sights of Prague, and public transportation (metro, bus, tram, taxi) is literally steps from the front door. A great place to stay!

Our stay at Aparthotel City 5 was excellent! Kristina and Gaston are outstanding hosts, making you feel as if you are the sole focus of their attention and efforts. They're helpful, welcoming, and friendly, with wonderful English. The hotel is conveniently located two blocks from a major bus and train stop, making getting around easy. It is also two blocks from the river, and if you are a walker, it is within easy walking distance of the main Prague attractions. There is a large, modern shopping mall just three blocks away, with an enormous grocery store, which is handy if you choose to make any of your meals. Our accommodations included a nice-sized bedroom, a good bathroom, and a front room with couch, small table for four, and a kitchenette, complete with dishware and silverware. If you sleep with the windows closed, the street noise is not a problem. (It's not a scenic street or neighborhood, but that's just fine.) Having free wi-fi in the rooms was a huge plus; there is also a computer with free internet access in the cafe. Americans should not expect this to be an American hotel in size or amenities. It's not; it's an absolutely wonderful European hotel, and one to which we will definitely return on any future visits to Prague!

Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Photos don't do it justice. Warm, funky, inviting and very clean. We were within walking distance of all areas of the city. Street side was noisy some nights (traffic, couple of pubs) but when windows closed this was not a problem. Thanks to Gastone, Krystina, and Gerry for a great stay in a great city.

Gastone and Kristina were wonderful - both spoke very good English and were extremely helpful. The studio apartment was much nicer than we had expected, being almost brand new. And they had a lift! (Unlike other places we stayed, eg Paris.) It was spacious and clean, and the hotel is located close to an underground station. It's possible to walk into the Old Town via the famous Charles Bridge - only about 25-30 minutes. I would recommend the hotel to anyone new to Prague who would like to see how the locals live. We were warned that Prague is notorious for pick-pockets, and the hotel is not located in the best of areas, but we never felt compromised or unsafe in any way. It's a relatively small city (1.2 million) and easy to get around via subway. We will most certainly stay with Gastone and Kristina when we next visit Prague, which truly is a beautiful city.

Would definately stay in this hotel again. The rooms were excellant, brilliant shower and very clean. Had the breakfast one morning, was okay and plenty of food available. They were very helpful there and friendly. Is a bit of a walk into Charles Bridge, maybe 25-30 mins but train station only 5 mins away and very easy to use. Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was a centrally located hotel near just about everything in Prague. The managers are amazing and helpful and very nice. There is a computer to use for free. I loved having the option to cook in the kitchen and was close to a grocery store making my stay in Prague even cheaper. The hotel is very cute and bright. As a female traveling alone I felt very safe in the neighborhood and even safer knowing that the managers were truly interested in me and my well being. Highly recommend the place.

This apartment hotel was wonderful! Gaston and Kristina were great and so helpful. Staff was very polite and always smiling. They spoke English and this was a plus for us. We had a bedroom which had a fridge, tea kettle including coffee, tea, sugar & powdered cream. It was very clean and cozy. Friends had an apartment suite and they were so impressed with all the amenities it came with. Location was excellent and we could get anywhere in Prague from the public transit two blocks away. The Vlatava River was two blocks from the hotel. Totally enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely book here if we come to Prague again.

This hotel is a good deal as the rooms are spacious for the price. Additionally, the staff is competent and helpful, especially Gerry who gave us a particularly warm welcome (after we had a horrendous time getting to Prague missing a connection and taking 4 trains), his smile was most welcome. The hotel was farther than I anticipated to the "action" spots such as the Charles bridge, so we ended up taking the tram everywhere which can get a little pricey for full day tickets every day. Also, there is not a telephone in the room, which can be a problem if you do not have a operable cell phone. However, these are not great hindrances to the overall package and price. Prague is a beautiful city and should I return I would consider staying here again.

We stayed at the Aparthotel City 5 between 8th and 11th June. Our holiday got off to a poor start when our flight was delayed by 3 hours. When we rang Gaston to tell him we would not arrive until 2am he was superb , telling us that the taxi would still be there to meet us and that he would wait at the hotel to greet us. We were to find out that this was typical of the friendliness of Gaston, Kristina and Gerry who made our stay extremely enjoyable. The accomodation is spacious (we stayed in room 13) and clean with all the necessary facilities. The breakfast buffet is extra but is varied and good value at 100 Koruna. Kristinas toasties are excellent and very filling. We ate at a couple of local restaurants. Grotta , a vaulted cellar restaurant just up from the bus station ( Ostrovskeho 7, look out for the large vertical sign on the corner of the buiding) which served good quality local Czech food at cheap prices and the more varied Petrofina Husa (round the corner at the Staropromen brewery) but of equal quality and value. Having experienced Prague now we were pleased that we stayed in Smichov which is only a short distance from the centre (4 tram stops from the Little Quarter square) and has the feel of the real Prague. It also has the added benefit of offering better value for food and drink. We will definitely go back.

First visit to Prague -- and loved it! The Metro stop (Andel station) two blocks away is a real convenience. Shopping complex, various restaurants and pubs are nearby. I was lucky to have one of those rooms facing the backyard, so except for the occasional beer-case rumblings from the brewery next door, peace was at my side. My friends, who have a room facing the street, were not very happy. (But hey, it's Europe, there are hardly any aircons in hotels.) I could use more English channels on TV though. Cristina is a ray of sunshine, always happy to help with places to visit-- by car or on foot. Aparthotel's website (www.appartamento.cz) indicated that they accept American Express. But when it came time to pay -- buzz (wrong card)! Had to use my friend's Visa. Now I owe her. Gastone was apologetic and promised to correct the "error." But what if I didn't have friends with me? That would have been bad...

We enjoyed our stay at Aparthotel City 5.The rooms were well equiped and clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were near restaurants, stores, the tram and metro. The old section of Prague was about a 30 minutes walk away, but we enjoyed the walk everyday. I must say that our stay at the Aparthotel City 5 was perfect. Kristina and Gastone are so welcoming and went far beyond our expectations as hosts. The apartments were spotless and well-equipped. The location is perfect for someone looking for a more 'authentic' feel to explore Prague. I really enjoyed my stay here. Gastone was so helpful during my stay. Breakfast was a fairly std European breakfast. The room was spacious and it was nice having a full refrigerator/freezer, microwave and stove top. There is a subway stop within several blocks with easy connection to the primary tourist areas. There was also a very nice shopping mall with a Tesco, food court and other stores within short walking distance. If returning to Prague, I would definitely stay here again.

Exactly as expected, but only because all the previous reviews have been so glowing! It's not the most luxurious place, but it's perfect for a super clean, convenient place to stay. Not central, but close enough to everything we wanted to see... 10-15 minutes walking, or 5-10 minutes on the tram, or 10 minutes on the metro. Christine is wonderful and helpful. A gem of a hotel with a fantastic host but be prepared to travel 10-15 minutes on the metro or tram to get to the centre. Its location in a working class suburb was a little off putting at first - not so pretty and romantic as the historic centre - but it also meant we were away from the tourist hordes and had access to supermarkets, and reasonably priced good pubs and cafes, so we soon came to value it. We appreciated the lift, having a kitchen and sitting area as part of the deal and also enjoyed the little cafe the hotel has set up downstairs. I'd return to Aparthotel without hesitation.

I chose this hotel based on current reveiws here and I must agree that the other reveiws were 100%. My wife and I were totally happy with the hotel and it's location. The location can be deceving though but it's really close to everything. 3 blocks to the river. Tram stop is just around the corner. Short walk to everything if you like to walk. Victor and Kristina were just great. We arrived late, 1930 and they arranged to have someone at the desk to greet us. The hotel also arranged a taxi for us from the train station so we felt totally safe. The room was actually a small apartment. Bedroom, a larger room kitchen, dining, living room combined and another small sitting room. I highly recommend this hotel. Oh and yes, Kristina's little crispy sandwiches at the breakfast buffet were fantastic. Great restaurant next door for lunches and dinner and a brewery you can tour which we didn't have time to do. Prague was just beautiful, even in the middle of March.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. Best value in town. Our room had some street noise, but the hotel was othewise very quiet - noisy groups are not welcome! Very close to metro and trams + nice supermarket 1 block away. Although open for 2 years, everything in our studio looked brand new (historical building was rebuilt from the inside & fully renovated)

We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb, 2008, went to Olomouc and returned here for 1 more night. Hotel is excellent and prices are very fair - quite cheap if taken in consideration that is very close to metro station and several restaurant and pub facilities in a range of 2 blocks distance (less than 100 meters). 1.5 block away you can find an italian and mexican restaurants and Fridays as well. Hotel personnel is very very nice and helpful. Rooms are big enough to 4 people with plenty comfort and space. Since its highly close to metro station, it makes easier to get to almost anywhere in the city. If you fancy walking, it takes from 15 to 30 minutes walk from the hotel to Charles Bridge enjoying a magnificient view of the river. I will definitely go back to Prague and, for sure, will stay in Aparthotel City 5, which is one of the best places I have ever been.

Aparthotel City 5 was everything we expected and more, based on the other reviews we had seen. Kristina was very friendly and helpful, and she cooks a mean breakfast toastie! The room was modern, clean, spacious, warm and the tea selection was superb. The hotel location was perfect. The Smichov area is nice and lively with a number of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The tram and metro is very close, and efficient. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Prague for a pleasant, affordable stay. Hopefully we will go back.

On first glance the street the hotel is on does not look particularly appealing, and the hotel is only two doors up from the Staropramen brewery. However on the inside it is wonderful, and Kristina and Gastone cannot do enough for you. We found the location to be very good, as there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, and the Andel metro station makes getting to the city centre very easy. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed for my wife's 40th birthday. Found hotel on venere and checked this site and others for reviews, which were glowing. Gastone and Kristina, the staff, are welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful, being available 24/7 by mobile for when reception is shut. Our apartment was more of a flat (bigger than many for sale here or in London) and had all the fittings you could wish for even for a long stay. Exceptionally clean, with masses of storage. We will be back to visit our new friends, and recomend the aparthotel city 5 with out reservation to anyone looking to visit Prague. Just outside tourist trap price areas (about 40% savings on food and drink), it is an easy walk to all the sights, 3 metro stops to the very centre of the city, or 5 mins on the tram. Transport prices extreamly reasonable. Transport from the airport can be arranged through the hotel, just phone them or email and ask. We did this, it was a great service and cost just 580 Crowns. This included being met at the gate by a name bearing driver and being escorted right through check in at hotel. A basic cab form airport to hotel costs approx 480, but you have to get your luggage from airport to car to hotel. Go-enjoy-return again. One phrase to sum up this hotel.

Fantastic location, huge apartment, great price, staff were really helpful, apartment was spotless and thoughtfully furnished, great quality breakfast available in adjoining cafe for nominal price. We really enjoyed our stay and would have liked to have stayed longer. We did find it a bit hard to find initially - would recommend arrival in Prague with good city map, especially if driving. Parking is available at nearby parking area for minimal fee.

We stayed for 2 nights in November 2007 and cannot rate this property highly enough, the amount was help we received from reception was better than any guide book and the location was great also great about a 15/20 minute comfortable stroll to the main attractions.

Aparthotel City 5 is an excellent place to stay. The room was excellent, very clean, comfortable and spacious and the quality of the hotel compared to the price is exceptional. The hotel owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Location is great, close to city centre (3 metro stops), but also the local area has lots of restaurants and bars to keep you busy.

Just returned from a long weekend in Prague. We spent three nights in Aparthotel City 5 and we really loved it. The people were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were immaculate, and the little cafe downstairs in perfect for a healthy breakfast or an afternoon coffee or beer. There's a pub two doors up that does very good Czech food - just ask Kristina and she'll give sound advice on eating out, sightseeing, getting around... The place is 5 - 10 mins to the old town or Prague Castle by tram or metro, both of which are up the road. Don't waste your time with taxis in Prague - they're chancers and will rip you off, plus the transport system is excellent so there's really no need. It's not a five star hotel so if you want a gym, pool, opulent lobby and day spa, look elsewhere. However if you want a pretty and functional appartment or room in a central location at low prices, then do the smart thing and stay here.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel and would definitely consider it again when we return to Prague. The onsite manager was very helpful and offered information to help us get around the city that he would not have had to do.

Everything was great from the check-in and check-out experience with Kristina to the room and its size and cleanliness. Conveniently located near the Andel subway station and a huge Tesco supermarket, this is an excellent choice for the leisure traveller who wants a safe, clean and friendly environment without needing constant pampering of a hotel that costs three times as much.

Great stay at Aparthotel 5. Kristina and the rest of the staff were fantastic, best I ran into by far on a 1 month trip of Europe. One morning we were talking to Kristina about being on the road for a length of time, she told us to bring down our laundry, she had it washed and ready the next day, no charge. Our 2 year old daughter became attached to one of the stuffed animals in the lobby and she let her take it with us when we checked out. Room was spacious and had a fully furnished kitchen. Very clean and quiet. Free internet access in the Breakfast area, which is only 3 euros. Location is about a 10 minute walk to the city center along the river and 2 minutes from a tram stop. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood and a 24 hour tesco 2 blocks away.

We spent 5 days in aparthotel we reserved a double room but we were lucky and we got an appartment (same price), very clean and really spacious. The neighbours? I thought we were the only persons in the hotel :) (very quiet). As for the the hosts, they were so professional and kind, excellent service! There is a mall and a tesco very close to the hotel, plenty of places were we could eat (if you want to avoid the big prices in the city center). We just walked to the city center every day (it's not far), we used the tram only once and it was fine. Overall it was perfect! Thank you so much aparthotel!

We had a great tim at Aparthotel! We arrived late at night (around 9pm) and someone was actually waiting for us to check in - reception is normally open only from 9am to 5 pm. We were very impressed that someone actually read our special request re: late check-in. The appartment was lovely and clean, with all the neccessities available: coffee mugs, glasses, cutleries etc. The overall feeling - very homey and lovely. Thank you!

I have travelled to more than fifty hotels over the past five months as I explore Europe, but never have I seen service as good as this. The owners and staff, especially the lovely Kristine, genuinely care about you enjoying your stay, both as guests of the hotel and also as guests of Prague. From the moment you arrive you will see what I mean, as they go out of their way to make sure that you are happy. The hotel is an affordable and perfectly located place to stay, with new rooms and fittings, and comfortable beds. Really cant recommend this place high enough - if you are reading this Krsitine, thanks again for everything you did for the two of us! We had a specatacular time in Prague and will be back to stay with you soon. Tim
