location of hotel is very good even in attic rooms.. best panoramic view can be seen in restaurant (outside).

It may have been the poor weather that left a less than ideal impression. We were there in December and it poured rain almost every day. The rooms were very spacious but lacked certain amenities for a four star rated hotel such as robes and proper toiletries. Breakfast was poor with very good pastries but no fresh fruit, even after we requested it. The staff, who are friendly enough, were not overly welcoming, nor did we feel that they were glad to have us during the low season. It almost felt like we were in the way, along with the inventory of tablecloths and wine cases that were piled on the restaurant tables. Not worth the 200 euros a night.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights in November 08. Great value for the money. We did not realize that Italy has an off season. On Saturday night we went down to the front desk ans asked "Robin" where we could go for dinner. She told us that there was on one place open and it was down the street. The name of the resturant was Ll Fornillo and the food was excellent. The next night we go back to the front desk to see Robin. Again we asked for a dinner option. She told us there was a place that was a ways away but that the resturant would pick us up and return us to the hotel. The name of the resturant was Ll Ritrovo. It was very charming with the beams in the ceiling covered with Roma tomatos that were drying for sauce. The meal was one of the best that we had in Italy. I would like mto return for another stay when it is the late season. Positano is beatiful. I cannot praise Robin at the front desk enough. She was very helpful and always very pleasent.

very pleasant place to stay and wonderful Robyn and staff. Our only reservation is that if one has not been to Positano before, clearer directions are needed to get to the hotel. The bus driver was not helpful as to where to get off and arriving in the dark would present an incredible challenge.

Wonderful location with gorgeous views and well priced delicious food. Our room was very small and despite its small balcony and million dollar views I don't think the room we were in ought to be classified as four star, even though our overall experience was lovely .

We spent three nights at this small hotel (only about 9 rooms)and enjoyed the entire trip. We thought the hotel and staff was very good and the scenery in Positano is incredible. We would consider staying here again on future trips. There are other hotels located closer to the main shopping district or with (slightly) better views from the balconies but this is a very good hotel for the price! We had no problems with the reservation. The room was spacious with a great balcony but a small bathroom. It contained all the modern conveniences that we needed (but no Internet) and everything worked properly. The hotel is located about halfway between the top of the cliff and the beach. It is in walking distance of the beach and main shopping area but far enough away that you avoid the tour crowds. The breakfast was average with different cereal and pastry choices, juices and different types of coffee. For a small hotel, we were very pleased. The staff at the front desk was able to handle all our requests -- from the best local places to eat to how to travel to other locations in Italy. This was a very nice, small hotel!

We were very pleased. Water view rooms in Positano are expensive. We had a suite with a view for a very reasonable price and using the steps we could get down to the beach front very quickly. There is a local bus that is available as well.

A fantastic hotel, the family that owns it is welcoming and friendly but very professional. The rooms are clean, well appointed and have great views over Positano! The restaurant serves amazing food and wine. Highly recommended.

Very friendly family run hotel. Staff helpful and welcoming. Good views and good food. Unfortunately early morning wake-up call in our room due to noise from family in adjoining house.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the Villa Gabrisa in Positano. We had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay there. The family owners were helpful, friendly and hospitable. The in house resturant was very good as was the service. We would definitely stay again at Villa Gabrisa!

We had a wonderful vacation stay at the Villa Gabrisa in July 2008. The hotel room (deluxe) was spacious, well appointed, and clean. A huge plus was the terrace (as big as the room), which had a table and chairs, beautiful plants, and excellent views of Positano. Internet access is available in the lobby at an additional fee. The villa is “up the hill” from the busy shopping/port/tourist section of Positano. To get to that part, you can walk along the winding (one-way) road, which takes about 10 minutes, or walk down about 400 steps (not as difficult as it sounds, and quicker). To get back, you can walk up the winding road, which takes about 20 minutes (it’s a gradual climb), or take the internal bus, which takes about the same length of time, as it winds its way through the town. We didn’t attempt walking up the 400 steps! While it’s a bit out of the way from the tourist section, the advantage is that the location is much quieter than the “main” part of town. The villa is closer to the smaller Fornillo beach, much less crowded than the bigger beach at the port. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially Gabriele, and all of them speak English (including a native English-speaker from New Zealand). The restaurant (for dinner) is excellent, and the breakfast that comes with the room is good. We would definitely stay at Villa Gabrisa again.

Stunning views from the balcony. Attic rooms were noisy at night due to airconditioners running just outside window, also appeared to be smaller than the other rooms at the hotel.

The hotel and staff were lovely. The view was amazing and everyone was really friendly. The only draw back is getting to town on foot. There are regular buses and the driver is accomadating but if anyone suggests a leisurely walk down the steps to the beach only attempt it if you've just completed the London marathon or like walking down endless uneven stairwells. My advice is get the bus or a taxi and you'll enjoy the trip a lot more.

Though the hotel was a bit far from the centre(it's on the middle of the hill and the centre is near the sea),there was a bus stop just next to the hotel. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the view from the room was excellent. We enjoyed spending some time in our small balcony. We would come back and stay in Villa Gabrisa again!!

Villa Gabrisa is a lovely idle in Positano. Great views from all rooms -- even the attic rooms had their own small balcony. It's in a quieter part of town, where natives actually live. For us, it was a bit far (more than 400 stairs!) from the beach, but hopping on the local bus solved that. A small complaint was the smell of the restaurant that wafted into the room, but it was never unpleasant. Another minus was the uncomfortable bed. But the proprietor was so friendly and helpful that many faults can be more than forgiven.

The hotel rooms have an excelent view. The restaurant is fabulous and the best of all is the attention you get from the family that runs the place. Positano, is definitely one of the most beautiful destinations in Italy, staying at Villa Gabrisa made it the highlight of our trip.
USA, Sep 2007
My sister and I truely loved Villa Gabrisa. It was a beautiful hotel and great food in the resturant. We had one of the attic rooms which was beautiful. We had a balcony with 2 chairs to sit and enjoy the view. We think it was a perfect location. It was high enough to get the great view and it was easy to walk down to the town square. The bus that is available to bring you up and down the hill stops one door down. Robyn was very helpful and friendly. We would love to stay here again. Advice if traveling from Rome - take the train to Salerno than take a water ferry to Positano. It's quicker and more enjoyable than a bus(and only 8 Euro). We took the bus which you have to change in Amalfi. When we got to Amalfi, we couldn't go any farther because of an avalanch -the road was closed. We luckily found a boat to take us to Positano.

Villa Gabrisa is an excellent bargain in Positano. In addition the food served in hteir resaurant is also excellent. The only disadvantage is a bit up the hill from the center of town but the local buses work quite well for just 1 euro per trip. We highly receommend Villa Gabrisa.

We stayed in the hotel on a family holiday. The hotel and its staff were outstanding. They accommodated our every concern and went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable. The rooms were extremely clean, and the views outstanding. I can't recall when I've been more satisfied with a hotel stay. One tip: if there are more than two of you, the cheapest rooms are a bit tight.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa is an excellent modern hotel in Positano. The cleanliness and the staff deserve a rating higher than 10. The hotel, from top to bottom, is kept spotless. Its location (a few minutes walk from the inter-city busses) and its views are big advantages.

We took a chance booking online with only photos and web description but we were very pleased with Villa Gabrisa. Great rooms, staff and an excellent restaurant. There are more expensive hotels in Positano but even if we could afford them we would choose to return to Gabrisa.

A very nice and personal small hotel. Very well maintained regarding painting, and overall repair. Very nice bathroom everything clean and fresh. The family who run the hotel are very warm and familiar and did everything for us. If we come back we will stay there again. They also had a first class restaurant which is not so common for hotels.

My favorite hotel in Italy during our honeymoon. It was supremely clean and inviting. The sea views were spectacular. I thought it was in the best location, in the terraced part of Positano and not near the beach. But close enough to everything. The staff (which was mainly the lovely family) were nice; the restaurant food was excellent, one of the best in Positano. The SITA bus was just above the hill and the local bus was just right outside. This was a charming little hotel and I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone that's not looking for something super fancy. I loved listening to the sea and have the sea breeze lull us to sleep. A magical stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Gabrisa, though we were unprepared for our room being on the 3rd floor without an elevator. However, the staff was helpful in bringing our luggage up and toting it down. In general, the proprietors were friendly, helpful, and gave personal attention. We missed having a terrace, and didn't realize when we booked that we wouldn't have one, but the view was very nice.

This was above our expections! Parents, son and daughter run the property and stay on top of things... Plenty of English spoken which is a great help! The restaurant was excellant and not over priced! It was our best stay as compared to Rome, Florence, Siena, and Sulmona. Grazie, Earl J. Apprill, Branson, MO, USA PS: Five night was perfect with one side trip to Almalfi and Revello. Took "www.jackthedriver.com: from Naples which is the only way to go (Stop at Pompii on the way). All we can say about Positano is: It's fake! You really spend most of your time marveling at the surroundings, as they look like a movie location. This hotel has a friendly, accommodating family staff. We stayed in the Nereo room - breathtaking views from the very private balcony. We spent most of our time on the balcony, and recommend anyone to upgrade to a balcony room. It's well worth the small upgrade price. Lovely breakfast included with the room. The only disappointment was the restaurant was closed during the slow season when we visited (March 2007). But we easily found a very affordable local restaurant for dinner that was fabulous. (Get something lemony - this is a huge lemon-growing area). A nice local touch was the string of burros that trotted by as we enjoyed the sun on the terrace. Again, just did not seem real. We will definitely be back to the Amalfi as soon as possible, and will certainly return to Villa Gabrisa.

Villa Gabrisa was a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in the Suite Sirene, which was the nicest room was stayed in during our trip. It had a large terrace, where we sipped lemon fizzes and looked out over the sea. Gabriele and his family were wonderful, and made us feel very welcome. We also enjoyed dessert and wine on our terrace which we brought up to the room from the restaurant. It is quite a ways from the beach, as it is up high, but it is fun to walk down along the shops and the local bus is 1 euro per person and takes you back to the top. We truly enjoyed our stay and had a hard time pulling ourselves away from our terrace!

Excellent small hotel although a bit of a walk from the beach, however the good (and cheap) local bus service eliminates need for a hike back up the hill. Lots of good bars and restaurants nearby although none surpass the hotels own restuarant.

Was the best experience from our whole Italian tour. Better than Rome, Florence, Tuscany, and Venice. Beautiful room, breathtaking views, cordial staff, huge patio/balcony, and I can't wait to go back. The bus trip there was an adventure, too!!!! I loved this place!

Villa Gabrisa's best feature has to be the spectacular view from one's balcony, straight down to the Tyhrrenean Sea far, far below. The rooms are spacious, if a bit oddly decorated, and you'd better be sharp to catch the hotel without having to make a tortuous lap (or two) of the town to try again. Parking is remote and scary-looking - my wife couldn't watch as they took away her week-old car. In the hotel, plenty of noise from the traffic and diners in the popular restaurant below, but it all seems a part of the Positano experience and not really unpleasant. In fact, a bottle of wine, taken in the warm night air on your balcony will probably be one of your most treasured memories. It certainly was one of mine.

The only problem we had while we were there was to be locked out of our room overnight. We left our key and when got back to the hotel later than expected none of the emergency numbers worked. We had to sleep outside til 8 am the next morning before any member of staff was avaliable to help us. Not a great service for an 140 euro a night 4 star hotel !Other than that the place was very nice, room very impressive although breakfast perhaps a little basic....

We loved everything about the Villa Gabrisa and it was the best food we had anywhere during our trip to Southern Italy. Our only reservation is that we are not used to sleeping close to a busy raod so we had problems geeting to sleep at night. The rooms on the upper floors may be quieter. The family are exceptionally hospitable and helpful.

We had a 5 day stay at Villa Gabrisa and we could not have been happier. We travel to Italy every year, and I can say without reservation, this was one of the best values we have ever experienced in Italy. We stayed in the Sirio room which was spacious, had a great bathroom (unusual for Italy, and a phenomenal large terrace with great views. This family run bed and breakfast is ideally located in front of bus stop 17, making any walking up or down the town unecessary (we walked down but not up). Also its quiet, very important in Positano. Lastly, the B&B now has a quality restaurant with great pricing. We ate here 4 of the 5 nights we were in Positano. We looked at many menues in town and we could just not beat the value of their restaurant.

This is a small family operated hotel where the staff are friendly and speak good English. It has been renovated in recent times to a good standard. The only criticism we have is that the lounge area downstairs is rather small. A number of the rooms have balconies - very pleasant for breakfast - and all have great views. We used the car parking recommended by the hotel - this is necessary as parking adjacent to the hotle is impossible. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The venere room was exceptional-the best of our vacation! Compared to regular hotels, staying at Villa Gabrisa was like having your own apartment. It was tastfully decorated and spacious, with a private terrace and beautiful view of the sea...just what we needed after staying in modest accomodations while biking in Sicily and on a ship to Naples! (The pictures do not do it justice!)
