Good location if you travel by bus - close to bus stops. If coming by boat, there are some some steps, and an upward walk. Not too many restaurants nearby -- you may have to walk to the beach, which means an upward return walk. Also, only some rooms get a view of the sea. Ask for it. Rooms with patios or balconies are the best. Clientele? International: all ages seen, mostly couples.

I would splurge on a double room. The single rooms are at the back overlooking some sort of construction and very small. Tile floors are loud in the room and hallways. Great breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff, and the hotel is on the main drag, so it is easy to walk about the town.

We stayed at 3 different hotels in Italy, all similar price range, all through venere. We stayed at Hotel Savoia for 3 nights and used it as a base to see the Amalfi coast. The hotel is in a great location. Positano was our favorite of sorrento & amalfi and Savoia is conveniently located close to the Sita bus stop. The breakfast was good, the room size was fine. Two complaints. One, is that the rooms felt somewhat dingy. They had nice balconies, outdated tiny tv's, old furniture, all of which I can deal with, but just did not feel as clean as the other 2 properties we stayed in. The second complaint is that there are no clear directions on venere at how to get there. If coming from Sorrento, you have to get off on the SECOND positano stop, and then it's just a short downhill walk. If you get off on the first stop, you'll have to walk down more than 400 stairs and then several more blocks. NOT FUN. All in all, we'd stay there again for it's value and location, friendly staff.

We had a great room and enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. The price was one of the best we received on our trip to Italy. Small balcony with a lovely view. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.

The Savoia was wonderful! The staff was excellent, friendly and so helpful. My first night I was put in a beautiful double (instead of the single I had booked)...and then, sadly have to move to the Single room for the remaining 3 nights. But I was so pleased. The rooms were crisp and clean and it was great. I ranked it a little low on noise because each morning, I was awaken by the sound of the someone in the room next to mine, throwing up in their bathroom...so the walls may not be thickest :) To be honest, it was quite unpleasant. But the location is about as good as it gets. Not to far to take luggage from the bus-stop, but also a 5 minute stroll down to the beaches. It was just a wonderful place. My only recommendation would be to other single travellers...I say splurge on the "double" instead of the cheaper single :) The views are worth it! I LOVED the Savoia!!!

We made our white knuckled, giggling drive down the Amalfi coast to Positano and wound down the one way street into town. The hotel Savoia is thankfully very close to a public parking lot (expensive but worth it!) and the hotel itself is gorgeous. The rooms are wonderful and overlook the ocean. Breakfast was great. The service was great. We were in the off season and our room was upgraded to something we would expect in a 5 star hotel - it was like something from a James Bond movie. The only complaint I have is I wish Positano would stop allowing mopeds through town after 10 pm - they are LOUD!! :)

Positano is so beautiful and the Savoia is in a prime location. Great location for dining, shopping and any and all beach activities. Furnishings of the hotel are a bit outdate and do not fit it's personality. A great restaurant near the hotel called Max's offers amazing food. Also have the hotel staff make reservations for you at the restaurant La Tagliata, it is in a town above Positano. The restaurant will pick you up at the hotel. You will never have the same dining experience anywhere. Positano and its surrounding are magical.

very nice hotel, conveniently located on the main road. It is not a secluded location but was quite is to access by car, with parking available at an extra charge nearby, and valet pick up.Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Loved Positano and would stay longer in the future. It was a short walk to the beach. Our room had a terrace with a great view.

Location was fantastic, walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. Didn't realise that the bus from Sorrento only took us to the top of Positano, had to catch another bus with luggage down to the centre of town. There are baggage porters and taxis which we didn't see when we were dropped off at the top which would have made it easier to our hotel. Wonderful place and the hotel was in a great location, the views were unbelievable.

In my opinion, this is the absolute best location of all the hotels. It's just steps away from the main pedestrian shopping center, right in the center of town. Some hotels are about 400 steps from the beach, but those are actual stairs that need to be walked up and down. This pedestrian way leads directly to the beach, but it's a gentle slope and not strenuous at all. The hotel staff was extremely nice and helpful with our questions. It's a family owned hotel and they speak english and german (and obviously italian). The hotel was recently renovated so everything looked nice (ie: nice clean tile floors, clean walls, clean elevator, nice lounge area, etc) and the room was spotless. We had a deluxe room, and it wasn't that large, but it was fine in size. Most importantly, it was very clean. I saw many of the other hotels that I had considered staying at, and I'm so glad I chose this one. The others were so far from the center of town. I would definetly stay here again.

I was in Positano for a wedding of a friend. As I was traveling alone, I booked a single room. The room was small and it did not face the beach, but it was clean, relatively comfortable. The bath was surprisingly large and very nice. The staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were satisfying. The hotel was relatively close to the beach in a fairly convenient location (sort of in the center of it all). If I return to Positano (and I hope I do), I might first look at other hotels, but I would consider staying at the Savoia again (though I would book a double rooms with a view--I thought I was done with twin beds once I graduated from college).

I felt the property was overpriced for the size of room, quality of breakfast and location. There are no facilities to shower or change at the hotel if you are going to the beach in the morning and traveling in the afternoon, after checkout. In photos the hotel appears close to the beach. It is actually 15 minutes up steep steps to the hotel from the beach. There are many shops and restaurants near the hotel. The bathroom was large, especially by European standards. There were ants in my room. I got the spray and never saw more. The staff went in my room at least twice when I had asked that they not enter. Tiny safe in the room, but big enough for passport and camera. Too many other choices in Positano - I would only stay here again if everything else was booked. No matter where you stay in Positano, ask which bus stop to use if arriving by bus. If leaving by boat check in the morning the boats are running that day. They sometimes don't run because of weather.

Our stay was wonderful! The hotel was clean, & the overall staff was terrific. It is conveniently located in Positano & the staff made arrangements for us to park our car in a local garage. The views from the hotel rooms are great & our whole experience was just great. The breakfast, which was included in the price of the room was also very good. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who stays in Positano.

Excellent place to stay but expensive. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the car parking directly across the road was excellent. Only comment would be to advise where to park the car and where hotel is in relationship to carpark - i.e. 'look for Carpark Russo at bottom of one street into Positano and hotel is virtually directly opposite, asks the car parking guys as they know'. And please add the rate for the car parking (20 Euro per day).
