We stayed here only one night for our honeymoon, but will definitely come back. Its not quite in the thick of Positano, we had to walk down many steps to get to the beach and restaurants, but the room was very spacious and comfortable.

We arrived on May on Positano by car. Hotel was clean, reception was good, nice view from room. We felt very disappointed to know that we would have to pay EXTRA 20 Euros PER DAY to park the car inside the hotel. Also disappointed with the restaurant reception. Internet access only at main lobby. Positano is wonderful, be prepared for a lot of steps and consider use their internal city bus.

The Staff at Domina Home Royal were exceptional. In particular the gentleman on the front desk could not do enough for us. The breakfast was superb and the views on the deck sheer Heaven! Although the hotel certainly is a maze it is understandable as the property is on a terraced hillside. Best swimming pool that I have seen in a hotel of this size - although swimming for us - in Spring out of the question. Try taking the stairs up from the bay -burn off all the delicious gelato!

A little hard to find, but if you are taking the SITA bus from Sorrento, get off at the first Positano stop and you can see the hotel just down the hill. Room was big for European standards and they had satellite TV which was a nice surprise. You can walk to everything in Positano from the hotel, as long as you don't mind a kind of strenuous walk.

Maybe it was because it was the end of the season, but the staff were not that proactive and very, very slow to react to requests. For example, we requested blankets be left in our room. When we returned several hours later, there were no blankets. When my mum accidentally pulled the string in the shower, thinking it was a light (it was not marked that it was an alarm), I asked twice for someone to come help us turn the loud alarm off, but no one ever came. The hotel has a great location and beautiful pool, but that is all it has going for it. I would not return there unless I had no other choice.

Room (909) ideal for our needs (grandson had separate bedroom and own en suite. Reception staff very charming and helpful in every way. A bit fed up that swimming pool was not in action. Our first stay. Steps were a bit of a shock, but that's Positano. Breakfast magnificent. The only midday meal we were forced to take (when it rained all day) was poor compared to local restaurants and expensive.

While this hotel is a <5 minute bus ride from Positano you can easily access one of the main streets with a 5-10minute walk down ~400 steps. The bus drops you right at the steps of the hotel for 1.10 Euros. You do not look at downtown, but over the upper part of Positano and the ocean. The hotel was bigger than we expected and had by far the largest pool of any we stayed at. And it was OPEN which a lot of pools do not seem to be in September. Tennis courts and a VERY reasonably priced spa. I would say that the hospitality at the front desk of all hotels we stayed lacked however, all of the services offered at this hotel made it very worth it.

We loved our stay Domina Hotel Royal. Our patio was as big as our room and had lovely, full views of the water and the town. It was ideal for a glass of wine at sunset or breakfast in the morning. The local bus has a stop right at the entrance of the hotel which was easy for trips to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Our only (minor) complaint is that there was a door between our room and the room next door, and we were able to clearly hear the contents of all conversation in the next room -- not ideal for a romantic stay. The beauty of the surroundings and the wonderful patio more than made up for that very small annoyance.

It's a wonderful property that is quiet and clean. Be prepared for a long bus/taxi ride to the hotel from the town center or climbing 400 steps (the shortest distance). But the view from the hotel is worth it. Room 301 is excellent, but it's right below the outdoor patio so if there is music or lots of chairs scraping on the tile above, you'll hear it in your room.

We are pretty seasoned travellers but had to take two flights of stairs and two elevators to get to the lobby from our room and there were poorly written directions. It was also impossible to get your luggage out to the street without going through the same process. The views were quite good and the personnel friendly but the whole hotel was quite chopped up and it was clear that Americans were put to the back of the bus.

The rooms that we received were not as we saw in the photos and were a huge walk through corridors and up and down stairs away from all public areas which made it very unpleasant. This is a big resort with too many rules which did not make it an enjoyable stay. It was run like an army manoevre which did not make it a relaxing hoiday.Dinner did not go late enough, the pool was not open long enough hours even though it was extremely hot and you are made to wear stupid lttle caps in the water. It was also not possible to get an iron and so had to send everything out at a large expense and then it was not returned for 2 days and if we had had an iron it would have taken me 10 minutes. This was not our best choice of accomodation throughout Europe. It was one of the more expensive and less pleasant. It is a holiday resort for locals and not very many foreigners around.Im sure a smaller place would have made us feel much more welcme and been far more accommodating to making our stay pleasant

We loved our stay at Domina Royal and would recommend it specially at the price of the low season. I would find it too expensive if we paid full price. The view was amazing. We would go back again.

The property was wonderful and lived up to the advance notices. The views from the room and terrace were spectacular and the room was well suited with all the amenities. The Hotel's nightclub/bar was a great place to unwind after a day of visiting the sights of Positano and its location overlooking the city spread below was breathtaking.

We HATED this hotel, and could not wait to leave. The hotel was dark, dreary, damp, the pool emerald green with algae, mold growing on the deck, broken window in the garage when we drove in. The chairs in our room were cheap, the upholstered furniture dirty. I thought the place was totally without charm, and for a 4 star hotel it was a dump. We checked out after two days and stayed only becaue they said they would charge us anyway if we didn't stay 2 days. When we went to check out after two days, they stilled charged us a premium fee for leaving. The staff was unclear at best, and it was the worst hotel we saw in Positano. We checked out and found our own hotel. I would drop this facility. It gives your company a bad name.

The Domina Royal is a very comfortable and attractive hotel at the top of Positano. Because of it's location, it's a pretty good walk down to the center of the city, but good exercise, and cabs are readily available to go back up. Amenities are solid, and the view from the terrace and restaurant are great.

The service was good. The room was clean and Spacious. I had a problem to exit my car from the Hotel's parking (it was full). Nothing serious but I think employees could have been kinder with me.

The hotel staff was friendly and were easy to communicate with. The facility was quite clean although the hallways were somewhat dingy. The room was large, but lacked any charm. We did have a balcony with a nice view, but it was too small to sit on for any length of time. The breakfast was not very good. I'm not sure how you can ruin a cappucino, but they were very bad. The location was ok, near the top of the town. It offered a nice view and a 20 minute walk to the beach. I doubt I would stay there again, just because I felt it was over priced for the facility.

Good hotel but too far from the downtown area. I would stay closer as a taxi back to hotel will cost you 14 euro for one way.

Our stay at the Royal was wonderful. We received the best service (including 2 5 star hotels) at the Royal. Our room faced the water and the town of Positano as well as the beautiful pool. The room was bright, clean, and comfortable with an actual king size bed, not 2 beds pushed together. The grounds are beautiful and deceivingly large. The resort is a full service resort that has a car park (quite the benefit in Positano!). The hotel staff helped up plan our day trips as well as recommend some wonderful restaurants when we arrived for dinner after the restaurant had closed. While the hotel was not in the "heart" of Positano, it was about 400 steps up. The steps from the hotel lead right into town and we opted for the bus back. It runs every 15 minutes and is well worth the 1 euro. I would rate this 5 out of 5 and stay at the Royal on my next trip to Positano without any hesitations.

Great view from the hotel and the bonus of a big pool which is a rarity in Positano. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was fairly standard (very strong coffee) and we ate out in the evening so we cannot really comment on the food. Five minutes down alot of steps to the town centre and sea. We were with a group most of whom were in other hotels. I think we got the best result.

We were shocked to say the least by Domina Royal. We had just arrived from a stay in a three star hotel in Rome, which quite frankly should have been a five star in comparison to Domina Royal. The staff were unfriendly and the porter was so uselss I have no idea why exactly he is employed there. I would NEVER recommend Domina Royal to anyone as I feel there is far better quality out there compared and at a far better prices.

Great location. Staff were not overly helpful. Don't believe photo of breakfast buffet. Poor and minimal selection. Eg. basic continental.
