Hotel Palazzo Murat - Positano

We spent 2 nights at the Palazzo Murat. It is a beautiful, old building in the heart of Positano and well-positioned for local shops and restaurants. We had a superior room with a small balcony which looked across the gardens, a glimpse of the sea, and spectacular views back up the mountain with the village tumbling down the hill. The room was not huge, but adequate for a short stay and was well furnished with antique furnishings. Breakfast on the terrace was very pleasant and the staff were helpful. Our only complaint was that noise carried between the rooms, both voices and footsteps. There is parking close to the hotel, but you need nerves of steel to negotiate driving through the village.

We were upgraded from a deluxe double room in the Historic wing to room no. 5 which was exquisite, beautifully furnished and lovely bathroom and 2 balconies with lovely views, small walk-in wardrobe but very spacious room. Would have been nice to have bigger beds - their twin beds are std size and quite narrow compared to what we are used to in South Africa and Israel. Body lotion and hair conditioner in the bathroom in addition to the shower gel , shampoo and soap they did providewould've been welcome but we managed without and really had a wonderful stay here.The breakfast was superb and beautifully served outdoors in the charming courtyard. Had dinner twice in the hotel restaurant and it was excellent too. I highly reccommend this hotel to all adults who want a beautiful, romantic place to stay in the Amalfi area if you are not looking for spa/swimming pool facilities. Positano is beautiful and charming and full of atmosphere and in my oppinion this hotel is the best place to stay there.

This was our first stay at Palazzo Murat. Positano is a beautiful town and this hotel is one of the town's real stars. All the locals acknowledge the Palazzo Murat as one of the finest hotels in the town. The staff are so friendly and yet very professional and service orientated. We stayed in the new section which was fine with a nice little balcony with two seats, ideal for sitting out and enjoying the view over the town with some sea views. The garden in this hotel is very special and they actually grow many of the herbs and vegetables they use in the restaurant kitchen. The location is also excellent as it's only a short stroll down the alley ways and stairs to the beach and yet right near the many great shops and galleries. Overall a very special place to stay.

WOW ! what can we say...my wife and I fell in love with the area and the hotel. Everyone was so kind. We loved going up the street to the cafe to listen to live music after dinner. Shopped in the local market for wine and cheese in our room. Happened upon several weddings...one right in the courtyard...stunning ! Our room was beautiful the view was just like the photos on-line. It was close to everything. Cannot wait to return....If you truely want an Italian experiance....Stay at this wonderful hotel !!

We arrived on a very, very hot day in August. The public parking lot was a short walk from the hotel, but in that heat it seemed like miles. All the common areas are not air conditioned. With heat that particular day, possibly a cool drink at recepetion would have been nice. The rooms were very nice. Although here the air conditioning never went off, even if you tried to turn it off, making sleeping impossible. We did not have any meals in the hotel except for breakfast, when staff always seemed to be scarce. We were disappointed with this hotel, considering the price. Note: We went to Sorrento one evening and had the hotel get a car for us return trip. We paid 180 euros. When we mentioned this to friends who had been to Positano they said that price was ridiculus. I might think twice before having the hotel arrange any transportation.

At first glance this old hotel is quite lovely, with a courtyard full of trees and flowers right in the middle of town. But I would say that is the best feature of this hotel. Our first day there was very hot. Common areas have no air conditioning. There was a walk from the public parking lot and no cool air when you arrive at check in. The rooms are clean and spacious. We did not have any meals there except for our breakfast where sometimes you weren't quite sure if there was any staff to serve you. I would say for the price other than the old elegance of the hotel it was not worth it. One last thing, the room's air conditioner was so loud; in both our room and our children's, that you could not sleep through the noise.

Palazzo Murat was a great hotel situated at the top of the stairs to the ocean, fantastic positioning. It is so beautiful that tourists often stop to take photos when walking down to the beach. The staff were wonderful, very helpful and informed. The highlight of our trip was the "free" trip with Alfonso on his yacht, we sailed, stopped, dived into the wonderful water, swam ate fruit and drank wine. The hotel also has a wonderful resturant if you want something special although the food is generally good where ever you go.

I think that the site and hotel itself is one of the prettiest in Positano and the best location. We really enjoying our stay we regret we could not stay longer. Maybe next time. Thank you

What a lovely hotel, more like a home away from home. It's location in relation to the beach is excellent. It was warm and cozy and the staff attended to our every need.

Perfect B&B! We loved it. Be sure to take advantage of the free boat cruise held daily... turned out to be one of the best parts of our stay. Resturant was good... it was a good scene, especially with the classical triplet playing. Truly a romantic's B&B!

The hotel is charming,romantic, and the location,which is ideal, near the water eliminates the uphill long walks
