We had the most delicious and delightful stay at Hotel Marincanto. It exceeded all expectations. The staff are so very warm and friendly, like they have known you forever. They treat you like family and you feel special for it. The hotel itself is perfectly located in Positano. The rooms are spacious and the views are wonderful no matter where your room is located. The breakfast is a feast and the afternoon wine and service is terrific. If we had known how special this hotel and this town were, we would have skipped Sorrento (which we went to next after Positano) and stayed here longer. We hope to return here again in the next couple of years. Thank you Marincanto staff and until we meet again. Ciao

I've now stayed twice at the Marincanto and it is an excellent small hotel with OUTSTANDING SERVICE. From Check-in, to Breakfast service, to Dinner or Drinks in the lobby..the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. And the view, which is unobstructed (between you and the Med) is a memory in itself.

We stayed there for our honeymoon and it was perfect! the views cant be beat, the staff treated us like family and even made hearts of candies on our bed for turndown service. Private pool and lounge area is key! far enough away from the tourist but close enough for a quick walk. use the baggage porter if coming in by bus or sea, we took a car service from the Napoli airport, well worth the money. great restaurant down the hill called brunos best experience I have ever had in Italy and would recommend it to anyone

Everything about this hotel was MAGICAL ... the LOCATION is amazing, staff so friendly and competent, loved the Euro breakfasts... the POOL is spectacular and brand new ... and the beach so convenient ... I travel a lot and was blown away by this hotel. Only ONE problem that the hotel can not control ... the noise outside. People were partying and you could hear it ... but so that is life! I can't wait to come back to this hotel ... one of the most romantic spots I have ever been ...

We had a Junior Suite overlooking the Ocean. It was amazing, the view was beyond what we expected.(sometimes you can get sceptical about the internet images, however the reality was even better) The service was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool looked out to the ocean and you have direct access to the Beach via steps (a lot of them). The location was perfect, an easy walk to the town and restaurants. I would recommend not driving. We got a driver to pick us up from Naples and drop us to Salerno after our visit (Positano Hire Cars) . Would definitely recommend this hotel and Positano for a relaxing holiday.

We loved staying at Marincanto. The hotel was lovely with all of it's different areas to enjoy the coast. The staff we lovely and very helpful (also gave us a recommendation to one of the best meals we had during our entire trip of 2 weeks. (in ravello, i think it was cumpo cuiso or something!!). The staff were fabulous with our 3 yr old, making us all feel very welcome. Our only complaints were that the lovely pool was freezing cold, and that there could have been a few more umbrellas on the sun deck. We will definitely tell others about this hotel.

I planned a special trip for my wife, a complete surprise for her so I there was additional apprehension on my choice of hotel. All in all the Hotel Marincanto did not disappoint. My wife and I were very happy with my choice and would stay there without hesitation on next trip. The location is exactly what I wanted, it is slightly out of the town center, sitting slightly above the town center and right above the water. Yes it is 250 or so steps to the beach but get used to walking up and down steps no matter where you are in Postitano or anywhere on the Amalfi coast. My wife just turned 40 and I am 42 and consider ourselves in average shape and the walk to the beach via the street was a piece of cake. Sure it is all up hill on the way back but it takes a 10-15 minute casual stroll with plenty to check out along the way. The famous Le Sirenuse is a 2 minute walk away from the hotel so not bad company. The open areas in the hotel are the best part of the hotel from the main lobby, dining patio, sunning patio and the newly open pool back its 4 star rating. The jr suite we stayed in was spacious, clean and the balcony provided the never tiring view of the coast and town. The room appointments were ok, no Ritz “dream bed” but comfortable and pleasant. The staff was outstanding, very helpful and pleasant. We had one issue with a car service to Ravello that they had booked through them. We told them of the issue with no expectations that they could correct it, they called the car service and had it corrected. Perfect! One knock is the wait staff is under staff, they work hard but for a single waitress to cover the eating terrace to the bathing terrace is a lot of ground to cover in the afternoon. We were there in mid May so not sure if they were fully staffed. Best Value in Postitano

1. the old bed spring mattress and the breakfast wasn't worth the money, when I compare it to the quality I fot for 60 EURO at one of the villages near by. 2. I almost broke my bones and glasses, due to not enough light at the stairs. Fortunately I "only" wound my finger and got some hard blows.

The Marincanto is exactly as it looks on its website - beautiful. Sitting on the terrace for breakfast overlooking the sea and harbour was just one of the joys. The staff could not be more polite, pleasant and helpful. Very nice view from our spacious room. The hotel had a very relaxed feel about it and the position is superb and easy for the bus and getting into town. Totally recommended!

Marincanto has everything: location, service and quality! You get easy access to the beach plus a 20% discount for sunbeds & umbrellas. Marincanto offers parking, which is high commodity in Positano. The views are breathtaking. The size if our room terrace was almost the size of our room. We had a table with 2 chairs and 2 sunbeds there. Although not all the rooms are the same. Breakfast is great. They even make up your room twice!

Hotel Marincanto was a very pleasant surprise on our recent trip to the Amalfi Coast. The room/bath was spacious, and our view was spectacular! The restaurant patio was lovely, and the food was superior. My husband and I received excellent service from the hotel staff. We found the location perfectly suited to exploring both the shops and beach restaurants/transportation. We would stay there again.

Thank you for making our honeymoon so wonderful. Our hotel room was amazing and the view was incredible. The hotel grounds are impeccable and we loved the breakfast on the terrace every morning. The service was outstanding. Ulderico made us feel at home and provided great recommendations for restaurants, wine, scooter rentals, etc. In addition, every morning at breakfast, the lady that served us breakfast remembered our room number and treated us with the utmost professionalism. I would highly recommend Hotel Marincanto to anyone traveling to the Amalfi Coast area. We could not have been happier.

My wife and I stayed at the Marincanto for two nights in August 2008, before we went to Capri for two days. Upon our return we stayed three more nights. We recommend the Marincanto hotel and Positano to everyone looking for a relaxing and/or romantic holiday. The hotel was very nice and the staff made our stay perfect. We stayed in a junior suite with breathtaking views. We absolutely adored Positano. The place is very beautiful and romantic, the athmosphere is unique and you don't need to bite off aggressive sales people. The restaurants are nice, but we suggest that you ask locals for advise on restaurant and not only pick the ones located in the central area. The beach just beneath the hotel was nice and very quiet - a nice little feature not available in all beaches! We hope our friends will be able to spend a holiday in Positano someday, and we highly recommend the Marincanto Hotel.

We would definately recommend this hotel, we chose a junior suite which was very spacious and included a bathroom with jacuzzi bath overlooking the sea. Picture perfect views from our balcony accompanied with sturdy iron table and chairs (not plastic). Amazing location... the rooms face the water, thus no road noise. The hotel seemed conveniently located to the beachside and the central market in comparison to the many other hotels of Positano. The breakfast patio is lovely yet I dont think I will ever get use to the breakfast served in this region, Marincanto breakfast was par for the course... a let down. The room and bathroom is spacious and clean. Nightly turn down service with fresh towels. The bed is another regional thing that takes some getting use to...low and hard ... found the beds to be this way throughout Southern Italy. The staff was curteous and always presented a friendly attitude. Coming from South Florida were the sand and water is ample I found it difficult to chalk up 15 euros per hotel beach lounge chair... instead I opted to visit a quieter beach just on the otherside of the boat pier. A paved path up from the boat rental shacks lead to this small beach area.

The junior suite is excellent, just as advertised, the balcony overlooks the sea, the private jacuzzi is beautifully situated. The bed is comfortable, surrounded by a set of sheer curtains-very romantic. The breakfast terrace (breakfast included) is lovely and the fare for breakfast is well above average. The access to the private beach is difficult, having to climb up/down over 250 steps.

The Hotel Marincanto was beautiful and lived up to the reviews and photos posted on Venere. The view from our large room was gorgeous, and we enjoyed the balcony overlooking the ocean and town. This place is amazing. The only problem I had was when I checked in they were out of the suite we asked for, so the person at the front desk tried to sell me a story about the manager wanting to give us a present by upgrading us for one night to a better suite. I don't like my inteligence being underestimated. He could have told us the truth, it's not like we had a choice. Other than that, the staff was very nice and the hotel and location just amazing. I would still recommend this place.

Very comfortable hotel. OUr first room had an obstructed view and we were offered a better one without any difficulty. We ate at the hotel on two evenings. The second time we had to wait a long time to be served. THere seemed to be some problem with staffing. The tables had not been prepared for dinner etc. No apology or explanation was offered which was disappointing. THey also seemed happy to let a dog and a cat wander freely about the dining area which I did not like. Otherwise I enjoyed the hotel and although it was expensive it certainly is comfortable and has a stunning vista.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Marincanto; however, it was very expensive. Our room was spacious and clean, with an absolutely beautiful balcony view. The staff was very helpful, and allowed us to continue to park our car on the lot for several hours after checkout (space was available). The bed was somewhat hard, but overall I would recommend the hotel.

The hotel is a little tricky to get to. We were quoted 70 Euro for a taxi to the hotel from the Circumvesuviana station in Sorrento, so we chose the SITA bus. If you do take the SITA bus DO NOT get off at the first stop in Positano, it's about 3 km away from the hotel and in the upper part of the town. Stay on the bus and tell the bus driver to let you off at the Sponda stop (last stop in Positano). The hotel is less than 100 feet from the stop.

We stayed here for four nights and the room was one of the best on our trip (it was a superior). It was extremely spacious and had a large balcony with fantastic views. Only a short walk to the main shops and down to the beach. Also close to the bus stop at the top of the hill. The only downsides were that the bed was really firm and the menu available at the hotel was very limited. Would highly recommend it.

This was our first visit to Positano and we were very pleased with both the hotel and the town. We stayed in a junior suite and were very happy to find that the photos of both the room and view were accurate. The room was spacious and attractive, and the view was lovely. The hotel staff was especially friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, particularly the pasteries. On-site parking was big plus. A car is a liabilty, not an asset when on the Amalfi Coast, but if it is unavoidable, hotel parking is absolutely essential. Leave the car and take the SITA bus or boat. My only criticism is that the hallway runner outside our room was stained and needed replacement, but this was a small matter. I would happliy return to this hotel and recommend it to others. For dinner, try Bruno's a few doors down. Casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, and excellent food.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful - it was a real pleasure to be there. Our room looked out directly over the sea (a double superior), so we could have the French windows open all day and night and hear the sea and not be overlooked. The sun terraces are spacious and ideally positioned. Very good breakfast, but no other meals available.

We had a beautiful room with a veranda that overlooked town and the water. We were in the old building but it was quite nice. I was nervous after reading reviews of old building- ants etc but it was perfect. It was 72 steps down to the beach and disco. For walks go down the stairs and return via the roads.

A terrific hotel in Positano. View from our private balcony was amazing. Our room was pretty large, sparse, and very clean. I think we got the double standard room, it did have its own balcony, but didn't have a jacuzzi tub as seen in some of the guest pictures. It was a little confusing figuring out what rooms had what ammenities, but the jacuzzi was not missed at all. This is a great hotel. We didn't have a car as Positano was our only stop on the Amalfi Coast. Driving here is NOT RECCOMENDED, and that has nothing to do with the Marincanto, but the nature of the roads in Positano in general... you can get anywhere in Positano by walking. There are alot of steps, but living in a 5 story walk-up in New York, we did not find it unbearable. The included breakfast was delicious, and the staff very friendly.

We were quite pleased, and commented that it was a hotel that was better than the pictures. The staff was overwhelmingly helpful. Breakfast was excellent and a bar was a plus. The walk to the shore was invigorating and the return moreso, but we felt this really kept us up to our usual activity level. Dinner at Bruno's outside looking over the town on our first night there, exhausted after the trip, was just perfect. Divine meal at Sireneuse. Capri trip so convenient. Pompeii and Herculaneum a nice day trip. We were simply enchanted!

Desk staff was dangerously providing mis-information. We asked how to get back from Bomareno after hiking the Trail of The Gods. They told us a bus ran every 30 mins from there to Amalfi. This was wrong. We got there at 4pm and the next bus didn't run until 7:30p that night. When we called the hotel desk to ask them to send a cab up from Amalfi to Bomareno, they told us they didn't work with cabs in Amalfi. In my opinion, they should have been willing to look up a phone number and at least try. They told us they could send a private driver for hire from Positano for $80 Euro. Unacceptable! The next day we went to Capri, and they told us incorrect times for the ferry departures and returns. If we had not checked with the actual ferry company we would have missed the ferries. Nice location, good views. Thin walls, lots of noise. Plain rooms. Poor front desk staff.

Maricanto made positano a true experience for us. The location was superb -- a block from Le Sirenuse and even better, not even too many stairs (for positano) and the private beach access was great. The breakfast was wonderful on the terrace and our room (224 I believe) had the most INCREDIBLE balacony view -- although the room itself was meager, the balcony and view more than made of for it. Our only gripe, was the concergie service -- not as knowledgable or as helpful as we would have liked although we had some great suggestions from friends -- such as La Cambusa for dinner (pasta with mussells YUM), taking a little boat to have a low key lunch at Da Adolfo and go swimming, Max for a nicer meal and right down the block from Maricanto - Bruno's resturant was find! Enjoy positano, its a dream...

Aside from our driver arriving 1 hour late at the airport in Naples due to traffic and not having the room we reserved available on our first night we really enjoyed the hotel. It is perfectly located just on the edge of town overlooking the sea and as such it is away from the tourist crush. The beach is about 300 steps below the hotel. Our advice is to walk down and through the center of town to avoid a coronary. Great breakfast everyday on the deck overlooking the sea. Friendly help. Menu at the dinner time was good quality albeit somewhat limited in selection.

There is no need to stay anywhere else in Positano! Unless you want to jump up in price considerably, this is where you should stay. Our absolute favorite hotel we stayed at in our 2 week vacation... the rooms were perfect, the hospitality was over the top, and the views from the balcony were breathtaking. Oh, and the breakfast?? Unreal. Book this hotel with no hesitation. That is, of course, you have a problem with stairs. Then, Positano is not for you.

Hotel Marincanto was great, the room was especially large not just by Italian standards but all around. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was great, very large. The room was absolutely gorgeous and in a great location, close enough to the center of Positano (about a 10-15 minute walk with great views along the way) but far enough away to have quite evenings. The only complaint we had was that there was no elevator to get down to the rooms below lobby level. The steps are steep and there are A LOT! The stairs down to the beach area are even worse. Someone counted and said there were 292 steps down from the lobby to the beach. Beach access was 13 euro per person per day (optional), and thats to sit on the deck about 30 feet from the shore, to sit directly on the beach it's an extra 2 euro per person. This is a wonderful hotel and the views are priceless, I wouldn't suggest it for people who don't want to walk up and down the stairs very much. We are a young couple in our 20's and found it very physically exerting sometimes
