Hotel La Bougainville - Positano
Via Cristoforo Colombo 25 - Positano
877-662-6988Positano, a poor fishing village during the first half of the 20th century, began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s. The main part of the city sits in an enclave in the hills leading down to the coast.
From Positano guests can visit Amalfi, Capri, Pompeii or Naples. By boat visitors are able to reach secluded bays which are just perfect for swimming or sun bathing.

This hotel is in an ideal position, just a few steps from the pedestrian streets and internal bus stop. The aircon controls in the room did not do anything so I had to ask at the reception for the temperature to be turned down. Some of the floor tiles in the bedroom and toilet were cracked but did not seem to have sharp edges, apart from this the hotel was very good and in an ideal position

Positano is very beautiful, magnificent scenery and the people in the hotel are very friendly. I was over for a wedding so I didn't really get to see as much as I would have liked, but that was my fault!I will definitely return again to make amends. I have an interest in Italian language and culture. Could you recommend language courses in the Positano area which I might attend, next year perhaps?

We paid extra to get a superior room since some guests found the standard rooms small, and to get see view. The price/quality seems very good compared to other Positano hotels, but expensive compared to many other places in Italy. Very central location, clean rooms, friendly and competent staff. Wonderful view from the room balcony on our room.

This is a ideal hotel to use when visiting Positano. It provides good value for money. We did not take a room with a sea view and therefore it was situated at the back of the hotel away from the busy street in front of the hotel, hence our room was really quiet. The hotel is about a 7 minute stroll from the beach and promenade at Positano. The breakfast in the morning was very basic, but adequate. We would definitely stay there again.

Very affordable, good location in the city. Room is exactly as advertised, a small room clean room, with a very nice rain shower. Given the price, it was an excellent deal.

Sehr bemühtes Personal, besonders Marella gibt wertvolle Informationen!

The hotel was lovely, newly decorated and furnished. Good location, in the middle of everything near shops and bars. The hotel staff were lovely and extremely helpful especially Mariella the owner of the hotel. Mariella was very welcoming and friendly, she was so helpful and could not do enough for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Good price for Positano.

We had the most wonderful time at this Hotel and indeed in Positano thanks to the reviews on Venere and we were more than happy with the result - Simon and his sister were the most obliging, friendly people. The hotel is in a perfect position opposite the pathway down to the beachfront and through the streets of many great shops. The hotel has been newly refurbished and is very light, fresh and comfortable. If you need laundry done they offer a very speedy in-house service and if you need internet you can purchase time on the computer in the foyer downstairs or you can purchase time for your laptop in the privacy of your room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Bougainville and echo the words Simon said when asked if it was possible for us to have some ice. "Anything is possible at La Bougainville". Can't thank them enough for making our stay most pleasurable. The only thing to be aware of is that anywhere in Positano if you are coming in by car and need somewhere to park it is very expensive to do so. There is a parking station directly opposite La Bougainville but you will pay approximately 20-25 Euro per night to park there depending on the length of your stay.

The sea view room was spectacular for the price. The other rooms do not compare if the difference is small. Positano is beautiful and the staff at La Bougainville were extremely helpful and friendly. We even had our washing done here for 10 Eur (big bag). The directions the hotel provided were very good, however Positano is a little out of the way. We would definately stay here again!

Warm and friendly hotel, really enjoyed our time here. Some rooms are far nicer than others. We booked a superior sea view room and one was quite small but they were happy to move us. Wish we could have stayed longer. Positano was a lovely place for a restful holiday, great restaurants, shops, etc. Only downfall is motorbikes racing up and down the hill at night

We had a delightful 2 evenings at this hotel. The owners are full of information and greeted us warmly each time we came and went. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and it had a balcony. It was, however, facing the main road, and so was rather noisy until about midnight. Our room was listed as a "superior room with sea view", and I had anticipated an unobstructed sea view. I would have called it a semi-sea view, but it was truly fine. The breakfast was terrific, too. Please note that you need to be able to climb 20 steps to enter the lobby and another 10 to get to your room. The I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling there, probably couples more than families with children, though, as the traffic/pedestrian noise continues until about midnight.

LOVED this place -- very reasonable rates for a boutique hotel. They're remodeling, so the rooms are beautiful, new and clean, stylish, but still affordable. Definitely stay at La Bougainville if you get the chance!

I highly recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness, warm welcome and great service provided by all the staff and in particular Simon, the day shift manager. I also think that the hotel is fairly priced given that everything on the Amalfi coast is expensive, from water to parking! I just didn't like the restaurant which Simon recommended; It is expensive, food was average, the service very slow and they charge you for tap water! Yes, you heard me right! And if you argue with the staff about it, they get rude (1 of the servers even told us that we had no choice but to pay and that it was the tradition in Positano to charge for tap water!) 1 advice: stay away from the 'da Vincenzo' restaurant! Instead, take a 10mn bus ride to Chiesa Nuova (€2.40 return) and go eat in la Trattoria Grottino Azzuro. You will not be disappointed. We went there 3 times during our 5 day stay! It was recommended by the Guardian newspaper and thy got it spot on. Enjoy your stay!

This hotel has been beautifully renovated, it is charming and should be on top of any hotel in Positano, It is most central and has (if wanted) rooms with a view. I will definitely return.

We stayed in positano 2 nights, it is not the cheapest place in Italy but you do feel very special. It is a fantatic place. The hotel was excellent value for money, it was simple, clean and very easy to access from Sita buses. It is also only a short walk to the resturants on the front. Thi hotel would suit someone who is travelling around Italy and wants a family run small hotel, and who dosent want any large amenities.

Unseasonal torrential rain for two days made Positano very difficult to enjoy. The relatively short glimpse of Positano we got will ensure we return again. Hotel was excellent and staff more than accommodating.

This hotel was very good for the money, however, if you are in Positano for the views this is not the right place. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and property was very clean. The location is right in the center of town close to the beach but lacks the views of the other hotels in Positano. Also, staying in the center of town so close to the street was a little noisy at night. We only stayed one night and then switched to a more scenic hotel.

Simon was very helpful and the younger woman in the morning was helpful too. They both spoke very good English. The rooms were very small and the window in our room was too high to see anything out of it. The rooms were adequately cleaned everyday. The breakfast wasn't the best, but was included. The location of the hotel was perfect, very central. Our only complaints were that the hair dryers in the other rooms were SOOOO loud that it sounded as if someone was using a chainsaw (not fun at 6 in the morning) and that the shower was incredibly small. I am not a large person (120 lbs) and I could barely move in it, just an FYI for some larger travelers. All in all, I would definetely recommend this hotel. It was in a great location, the staff were great, the rooms were perfectly adequate (although not luxurious), and the price is the best we found in all of Positano.

Very good location, only five minutes from the beach! And the staff is the kindest and most friendly ever. It has a small balcony with view and it was fabulous. The facilities are not that new and even there is no fridge in the room. But I really enjoy staying here.

The stay was absolutely incredible. This is a family-run hotel, and the staff were the friendliest and most accommodating we have ever experienced at a hotel. My wife and I do a lot of travelling, and we have never been so surprised by the friendliness and helpfulness of staff at a hotel. The rooms were very clean, quiet and cool and the view from the delux room was great! If I had to criticise something the only thing that comes to mind is that the included breakfast could do with an upgrade; though, it was of average quality.

Very nice small place. Simon (the son of the owners) was extremely attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful, and informative. The hotel is located in the center of Positano, with easy walking access to the beach, the internal Positano bus, and the external bus to go to the rest of the Amalfi coast. We had a very clean room facing the street, with a good view of the sea. and a nice balcony with chairs. Highly recommended. We would stay here again if given a chance to visit Positano again.

This hotel was perfectly located in the centre of Positano. Everything was in walking distance and excursions to nearby Amalfi and Ravello were undertaken with ease. There is a garage right outside the hotel which made it convenient to take luggage to the exterior of the hotel - but no elevator to the interior of the hotel or our room. We were told by the manager that hotel guests received a substantial discount when using the garage for parking - a discount which did not eventuate - leaving us shocked when we saw the bill. The breakfast was embarassingly inadequate and fell well below ordinary standards. The room was not clean. We found big bunches of long brown hair throughout and the room had been invaded by ants. The ant problem was temporarily addressed by the manager, but soon after the sting of the repellant had worn off, the ants returned. Wireless internet was not available from the privacy of the room, but rather, we had to sit in the communal area to obtain access to it.

I spent 2 nights here in may and highly recommend it. The manager Simon was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and really light and airy and there was a great communal terrace overlooking the sea. The location was perfect 5mins from the bus stop(but not on a busy road) and 5mins from the beach on foot. I totally recommend this place..it was great value for money too!
