The customer service and hotel accommodations were outstanding! The staff was very friendly and competent. They met your every need. The restaurant had very high standards. The view of the water was breathtaking. Also, a fantastic location near the water on Positano, a vertical town. I didn't have one complaint about the hote! Highly recommended!

It was my father's b-day present. Hotel Buca di Bacco was absolutely stunning in all respects. I have always wanted to go there (I used to go to Positano every summer as a kid with my mother and my auntie) since location-wise is unbeatable! and did it meet our expectations! Staff at reception was lovely (waiters at breakfast could be a bit more friendly) - breakfast was rich with delicious treats from south of Italy, plus a good choice of proteins as well (for those on low carb diet) - a spacious terrace overlooking the bay was a good option to sunbathe on crowded days - The cherry on top was the restaurant of the hotel. Great terrace with a nice breeze, very professional and welcoming staff, delectable fresh seafood, cooked in a perfect, and very tasty way, with the south touch - good selection of wines. My father had a blast for his birthday and went back also for lunch for the rest of our stay. Plus, as hotel guests, you get 10% off. Really a brilliant stay. I strongly recommend it if you want to have a chilled and relax stay in beautiful Positano.

Couple in our forties, both foodies. The Bucca di Bacco hotel is probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The welcome even at 10.30 at night was warm and informative. Key features were the staff competence and service committment, the breakfast (which was supberb), and the views from the room. Other special features were the availability of beach towels and the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was excellent, I dont think my wife or I had one poor dish. On arriving we were offered 10% of all meals in the restaurant. We will be back! We feel that the hotel caters for a wide range of clientelle from young to old. everyone seems to love the warm family atmosphere.

The hotel is as good as it gets in Positano for price and location and service. We checked out all of the other hotels and many were more glamorous but also far more expensive. Other than breakfast, which was very good [be sure to have the freshly squeezed blood orange juice which no one else seemed to notice] we did not eat there. The outdoor terrace dining is pleasant at breakfast but was too smokey at night and the main indoor dining room not so appealing. It was much more pleasant to sit outside somewhere else or have really good dinner up the hill at Vincenza which we recommend--reservations needed. The beds were fresh and comfortable and we had a lovely balcony on the top floor with a great view. Mario and crew were wonderful. We recommend at least day trip to Ravello and it was easy and cheap on the boat to Amalfi and then bus to Ravello though cab always an option, at least from Amalfi to Ravello. It is not a place to go if you have trouble walking. We were at Buca for 4 nights. The beach is pretty hard to swim [or even walk on] and the sun terrace at Buca was awful, the one thing not up to the billing. Your own terrace is key. It is a reasonable, pleasant place.

The restaurant was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. Especially the morning when we left the hotel, and was a little late in departuretime as we had planned, the hotel-waiter and reception helped us in an outstanding way, even without we had asked for it. They simply just knew exactly what help we needed with luggage help, breakfast, and that our car was ready at the garage etc. We will most certainly recommend Buco de Bacca to our friends, and we hope to return some day and spend more days there, than we did this first time.

While the price of this hotel is a bit higher, the value is well worth it. The location and view are absolutely spectacular. The staff is enormously helpful and friendly. The restaurant is quite good and we were given a coupon for free drinks and 10% off at the hotel restaurant when we arrived. The room (we stayed in a no sea view room) was very spacious and actually had quite a good view of the ocean from the balcony. Overall Positano was the highlight of our 2.5 week tour of Italy, and Buca di Bacco was a delightful place to stay. I’d highly recommend it!

This hotel exceeded expectations. We had a magnificent view of Positano from our room and we went to sleep every night with the sound of the sea. It was magical. The continental breakfast buffet was sumptuous. The pastries and breads were fresh every morning and there was a good variety of meats and cheeses. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We were alway greeting with a smile. I would highly recommend this hotel to any and all of my friends.

The hotel staff is very welcoming. The spotless rooms are larger than many US hotel rooms. The only noise in our room was the sound of the waves. The location is perfect, on the beach, but with a view. Positano was pleasant but nothing special, and we probably will not return. It makes me a bit sad that we will not stay in the Buca di Bacco again. There is no parking, but I did not see much parking anywhere. Try and have dinner at Max's.

It was incredible. It is #1 on the tripadvisor.com list for hotels in 2009 and 2008, and there are multiple reasons for that. Staff was so cheerful and friendly. It is amazing what a difference that can make to your stay. There was a (free) full breakfast of eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, etc. and the cappuccino was great. The rooms are spacious, and larger than most US hotels. The hotel faces the ocean, and almost all rooms are on that side (great view). There are a few on lower levels, closer to the beach which might be a bit noisy, but all we could hear from the 3rd floor was the ocean. The room and bathroom were spotless, with brightly decorated tiles, which added to the cheerful atmosphere. It is at the bottom of the hill. There is a short walk down the cobbled street to get to it, and any of the hotels in Positano. The hotel has elevators throughout. The hotel restaurant is good. And Giovanni was a great waiter. Book early and stay at the Buca di Bacca.

This was our second visit to Positano and this is a lovely hotel but with no parking or even assigned parking at a distance from the Hotel, which other Hotels in the area seem to have, it is not really value for money. This coupled with small rooms and the fact that the sun terrace with beautiful views, which was part of the reson for choosing this hotel was closed I was not sure we had made the right choice. We felt we were paying a top rate to stay somewhere really nice and actually got somewhere that was mediocre.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and located in one of the most beautiful towns in the world. We were there in the off-season, so it was also quiet and uncrowded. The staff was so friendly; I can't remember ever passing a member of the staff where we weren't greeted with a smile and "buongiorno" or "buonaserra." Absolutely fabulous in every respect!

The only problem we had was that we could not find it by driving. The map showed walking paths not roads. You actually have to park in public parking and walk to the hotel (porters provided to take luggage for 10 euros). Outstanding hotel!

The staff treated us as part of the family. They were all warm and quick with a smile. From the time we checked in until we left 5 days later our needs were eagerly anticipated and met. We had room service one night and could not believe it when the order arrived within 15 minutes. We were asked to call the front desk when we were finished and to our amazement the same young man was at our door as soon as we hung up the phone. The location right on the beach cannot be matched. The views from our terrace were picture postcard perfect. The rooms were very clean, spacious, modern and furnished with very tasteful and well maintained decor. The group at Buca di Bacco do an excellent job of running this business with passion. They pay special attention to the guests comfort and overall enjoyment. It was a real pleasure to stay at this hotel. This is how a hotel should be run.

This was our first stay at Buca di Bacco, we arrived by ferry from Capri and immediately saw the hotel on the quayside. Staff at reception welcomed us to our room which was already available earlier than expected. Position and aspect of hotel excellent our room had wonderful balcony overlooking beach and room was very comfortable indeed. Would recommend very highly without hesitation. Breakfast served on beautiful terrace overlooking beach and was excellent with fresh fruit and all other expected accompaniments.

The welcome and service from the staff was fantastic. The room nice clean and lots better than your average hotel room (US travellers should remember rooms are smaller in Europe, but you will not get a cleaner room anywhere). Note the hotel is perfectly situated for the beach / heart of the town but access is by foot only. If you have heavy bags or are elderly / have yourng children you might be best to locate a porter to help you with your bags don the steps / cobbled lane to the hotel. The main beach is ncie but crowded with day trippers, take a 15 min walk (west) past the ferry dock and up the cliff side walkway to the other beach that is quieter.

Our first visit to Positano in order to spend John's birthday visiting Pompeii. Stunning location and definitely a 'special' sort of hotel - ideal for a honeymoon! All staff very friendly and helpful, particularly on Reception. We were in one of the upper rooms (2 lifts) and view looking over the beach from our balcony with its little window box and table and chairs was unforgettable. Room not huge but very well furnished with plenty of wardrobe space, minibar, TV (limited reception!)and plenty of toiletries and towels in the bathroom. Room cleaned and bed turned down daily. We had a meal in the hotel restaurant (10% discount for hotel guests) which was very good, plenty of choice of food and wine and reasonably priced considering the prime location. More waiters than guests so the service was excellent! Breakfast was continental buffet style with plenty of fruit juice, cereal, ham, cheese and pastries or toast. Option to have breakfast in your room at no extra charge. Consider leaving your car in the car park and take the bus around the peninsular (Reception has details). We caught the bus to Sorrento station then train to Pompeii Scavi (20 mins) right outside the excavations. Couldn't have been easier and the Amalfi coast driving - on high cliffs with Z-bends - is not exactly relaxing!! Also consider taking boat from the beach at Positano to Capri. Overall this was a perfect 2 night break, to wake to the sound of the sea was wonderful and we would like to return for longer next time! [A word of warning: Positano is not recommended for those with mobility problems as the pedestrianised area is all very steep cobbled alleys or steps.]
