The room was big enough for a couple. The only drawback is the breakfast time starts after 8am and we needed to check-out at 7.30. It would be good if the hotel can provide us the take-away breakfast.

The stairway was superb, and the location in the city. The room was small for two persons. They highlighted that washing the laundry is absolutely forbitten when we arriwed in the hotel. The terrace was shared with six other rooms and the restaurant. When paying the first credit card machine didn't "work". Maybe it really didn't work, or maybe they tried to get the paynent in cash without the receipt. Luckily they had another machine which worked. This was the second hotel in our journey to Portugal with the same experience.

Very well located hotel, with all interesting places at short walking distance. Excellent hotel.Competent and friendly employees. We stayed in two rooms. One on the street side with a view on the street, but the other on the other side, with two small windows high on the wall, hence no view at all.

Our experience was incredibly bad. The room was dirty and the floor was never cleaned during our 7 days stay notwithstanding our requests to the staff. The breakfast was very poor and not sufficient for the guests: when the quantity of food and beverage provided on the buffet was finished, the staff refused to provide more!

I would recommend this nice hotel located close to the centre of Oporto ! Room Price was very good considering that we slept in a nice and large quiet room. The only unconvenient problem we had is that we couldn't pay by credit card because it didn't work ( it should not happen); anyway a Nice Hotel to recommend.

Although the hotel is only a few minutes' walk from Praca da Liberdade, it's down a rather dark street which could feel a bit intimidating in darkness. Most of the adjacent business seem to be building suppliers, so if you find yourself short of grouting paste or light fittings you can just nip outside. The layout of the hotel is a bit odd as well - you register on the ground floor but then have to go up to the third floor and above for the rooms. That said, the rooms ars every good indeed - spacious, clean and comfortable. For breakfast you have to go up to the sixth floor where there was decent spread of food, although the staff weren't particularly welcoming there. Other staff were fine although one we thing we wanted to do was have a ride on the vintage Porto trams. In spite of there being a poster on the wall, and the trams passing the end of the road, no one knew anything about them!

The hotel itself is in a building with legal and medical firms with certain floors designated to the hotel. The room itself was situated like an apartment and was very spacious and quiet but the furtniture could use some renewing. The bed was very large but the springs stuck out quite a bit and it was difficult to find a comfortable position between them. The staff was very kind and most were helpful. The location was good for young people since the area nearby had lots of night life and also near the trindade metro station. I wouldn't rush to go back but wouldn't discourage it either.

This hotel was in a convinient location but other that that there were no real positive points about staying here. The breakfast was disgusting, there were often no tables and on 2 occasions we had to eat in the corridor. Information in the room says that all keys must be handed into reception when leaving hotel. When we went back to get key on first day, reception handed it straight to us without asking any questions. Security was very poor. Rooms were located in a public building, with a doctors surgery on 2nd floor. No safes in rooms. There were also no heaters in the rooms & weather was bad, so we were often cold. We reserved two superior rooms, both rooms were very different and were not in any way superior.

Upon arrival I had pre booked a terrace room which was more than a standard room. The room was extremely small but shared terrace was great. When we woke up there was a horrendous smell in the room coming from the bathroom, which smelt like raw sewerage. It was that unbearable that my partner and I could not even shower. The hotel were unhelpful and offered no apology. We were reluctantly provided with a dirty room to shower in and then given the same room as a replacement later on in the day. Again no apology was offered. This room was better but the noise was appalling as was near to the lift door and loud staircase. The hotel location was perfect on the plus side situated just off the main square and 10 minute walk to the river. Overall this could be a great little hotel but I was disappointed to say the least.

We stayed in November for 3 days and found the location to be very convenient for access to the sights, waterfront, churches and ofcourse the port tasting. We asked for a room not fronting any roads and the noise level at night was 'zero'. The breakfasrs are ok - basic fare but sufficient to keep yuo going for the morning. The only real negative is the fact that you can't make a cup of T or coffee - no room service means the hotel need to provide basic facilities in the rooms. The staff are knowledgable and very helpful/ friendly.

Good overall hotel, pretty clean, quite central location (15-20 mins walk to the touristic areas) , decent breakfast but not completely suitable to vegetarians or vegans (no fruit), beds are a little small, furniture pretty old fashioned (it reminded my girlfriend's of her grandmother's room) and lack of communal/public spaces (there is however a very small bar next to the reception) . Very nice staircase though...! Recommended if on a budget (50 euros per night per couple) but plenty of better choices around if your wallet is larger...

Of the three hotels we stayed in in Portugal, this one stood head and shoulders above the rest. The thing that really made a difference was the staff - the young ladies on the reception desk were extremely friendly and helpful, spoke great English and made us feel very welcome. Also, the room (booked as a triple) was great, with two large separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom. There was loads of bedding for the chilly nights, and we were encouraged to use the air coon to warm the rooms too. Location is great - a very close walk from Sao Bento Train Station, and off a lovely square. STAY HERE!!!!

This is the first time I have stayed at this hotel. It is conveniently situated in the downtown area, close to most things and public transport. I would stay there again at this price. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but do not take too much notice of their recommendation for restaurants as those mentioned by them are also owned by the same group! My only gripe was the size of the breakfast room and the number of guests it had to accommodate. The positioning of the buffet bat was so close to the tables that access was greatly impeded. My advice, take one of the tables outside on the landing where you will not be disturbed.

Nice comfortable room. Staff very courteous and helpful. Luggage storage room. Located 5 minutes from main metro line from airport. 10 minutes from river. Bus lines and hop on/hop off tour bus lines right around corner.

We had no hot water, room had a terrible smell, old musty, not clean. Had to shower down hall in which the room was nicer. Staff not helpful. Shower curtain fell and no one could replace it. Would not recommend.

It's an older style room not recommended for travelers seeking modern facilities. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent and handy to transport, banks, atms, restaurants, cafes and the tourist office. Good value for money.

I really tried to like this place. Decor was OK, location was great, rooms were small to tiny. BUT, the walls were like tissue paper and my neighbors snoring was so loud it sounded like they were in my bed. The beds were tiny/short with head and footboards and I had to try to sleep with my head on the nightstand and my feet hanging off the opposite side...and the breakfast was really bad

This hotel is clean and basic - offers good value for money for those wanting to stay close to the centre of oporto but it is just outside the world heritage site. The pictures on the site however are misleading in that the terrace shown is only available to residents of the apartments next door and the granary restaurant mentioned is not even next to the hotel- it's on a nearby street! A minus for this hotel was the huge water heater above the bath; right next to the shower head, and the dreadful noise from the street outside combined with the air conditioning unit inside the room.

Directions to hotel need to be more specific - we took a taxi but could have walked. Hotel is located in what appears to be a former apartment building. Quiet location. Fairly spacious room and bathroom. Very inexpensive. Nice restaurant (?Guarany) nearby.

Just in front of the hotel you can find a very very nice and cheap Restaurant: "Churrasqueira Moura" at the number 223 Rua dos Aliados, where you can eat soup, fresh fish or meat with garniture and beer with about 6,50 euro for person. Enjoy Porto!!! Guido and Daniele, Milano Italia

I liked the stay very much - the room was very nice, and were also well kept during our 4 night stay. The breakfast was fine, although the room was a bit small related to the number of guests. The sourroundings were a bit dated, but that's the same for the entire city centre...

What a find! Not much to look at outside but the hotel is inside an old art deco building with a lovely art deco staircase. Helpful reception let me leave my bag before I checked in and after I checked out. Really helpful and friendly. The room was excellent. Elegantly furnished and very well kept. The bathroom was quite old fashioned but so well maintained it barely seemed old - even though it was clearly sixties vintage and handsome with it. I only paid 45 euro for a single and I got a terrific double. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is centrally located just yards from the town hall but extremely quiet (Porto is not a noisy town anyway). I wouldnt describe it as a luxury hotel but it is excellent value for money.

Great location, very helpful staff. Room on sixth floor which had a balcony. Breakfast fine. Only complaint would be that the rooms are small.

Room was comfortable, nice big bathroom, and a sitting area. Staff were friendly and helpful, spoke great English! Location was a short minute walk to all of Porto. One thing a bit confusing is the photo on the website of an outdoor, rooftop patio... I understood that to be the breakfast area/bar,... but learned upon arrival that it is a private terrace for individual guests... Breakfast was inside on the 6th floor, a bit hectic, but included. :)

Nice place to stay in the city center. The rooms in 6th floor have a common terrace - great to stay at night when the weather is hot ! Good breakfast. Good welcoming. The soundproofing between rooms is not very good.

Charming hotel with a huge room. Only the shower was a bit old with a huge boiler hanging from a wall directly over the bathtub. Very good service and great location close the city hall and Sao Bento station. Definitely worth the price.

It is a lovely hotel, really good value for your money. It is in a great location, close to the central avenue in Porto and also a metro stop. We were upgraded to a King size suite which was massive! In general a lovely experience,we werent waiting for anything special considering the low price we have paid but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The atmosphere is pleasant, the position is good, phone calls from hotel room are excessively expensive in comparison with other hotel rooms in Portugal

The hotel is pretty basic and reminded me of a high end back packers lodge. The bed was comfy, bathroom was looked new and clean and staff was very pleasant. Looking around, there were not a lot of other places to stay in Porto in that area, and the area is fantastic to get to what you want to see (plus very close to the main train station). Overall, I recommend it!
