Hotel Olimpico - Picciola, Pontecagnano Faiano

This hotel is an oasis in the middle of an otherwise economically depressed area. As you drive towards the hotel, do not dismay...the Olympico is a gem. You will not be disappointed.

We stayed in this hotel during the off-season, late March 2012. This hotel was perfect for our needs--specifically, a base for exploring Pompeii, Paestum, Herculaneum, Amalfi, and the Abruzzo by auto (and you DO need an auto if you are staying in this hotel, which is on the coast road well south of the Salerno city limits). Very clean, very modern, very stylish, very luxe, great breakfast, friendly, attentive and competent staff. One of the very nicest hotels we have had in 10 trips to Italy since 1994. Highly recommended.

This is a truly lovely hotel, beautifully maintained and very clean. Rooms are elegant and peaceful. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent. Pool is gorgeous and our children loved the grounds/tennis/play area. Children are very welcome. Private beach close by. Good base for Pompeii and Vesuvius. Best if you have a car, though they do have a shuttle bus. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to go back again one day. If I owned a hotel I would want it to be like this!

If you want to stay in the middle of a semi-rural/industrial area close to the beach then this is your hotel. If the location doesn't mean much then the hotel facilities themselves are quite good.

This is a great place if you're touring in your own car.Not great without a car. The busses stop running at about 8:15pm and then you need a cab which runs about 30e. The rooms were lovely and the hotel had alot to offer; swimming pool, bocce, kids playground. Heaven restaaurant across the street was great. Venere is doing them an injustice by stating that the hotel will pick you up at the train station if you call them on arrival. In fact they need 24 hours notice, which after travelling overnight to Rome and then training to Salerno was not what we wanted to hear. If you want them to pick you up, Call Ahead! Luckily they treated us so well when we did get there, that we got over our annoyance very quickly.

The hotel is located in a run-down, past its prime, seaside community south of Salerno. Actually, the area is fairly depressed and depressing. Yet, the hotel itself is splendid. The grounds are surrounded by a high hedge, creating the sense and atmosphere of an exclusive resort. The pool is beautiful, with an area that is very suitable for children. There are also a tennis court, bocce court, and table tennis. There are fragrant flowering plants all over the grounds, and lots of tables for outside dining. Our room had a balcony and views to the Amalfi coast peninsula. We highly recommend this place. We visited Pompeii in the afternoon and stayed here in the evening, en route to San Giovanni Rotondo.

Trotz der Jahreszeit (Februar) und der entsprechenden "Qualität" der Umgebung - im Winterwerden die Stände und Anlagen um das Hotel nicht gesäubert, waren wir mit dem Hotel zufrieden. Die Rezeption und die Hotelleitung war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war für italienische Verhältnisse ausgezeichnet. Auch die Preise an der Bar waren angemessen und nicht überzogen. Einzig die zur Zeit den Aufenthalts durchgeführten Bauarbeiten trübten den Aufenthalt etwas. Ein Internetpc stand kostenlos zur Verfügung.

We stayed here in Oct 05 for three nights we cannot fault any part of the hotel staff or facilities. Very good value for money
