The staff were excellent - every one of them. They were very helpful, competent, and friendly. We did not enjoy the room at all. It's very closed in, and the furnishings are cheap. It had a smell of being smoked in. The bathroom was fine.

After a less than happy experience at Naples, we were delighted by the welcome we received at Hotel Diana, and very grateful to them for sorting out a booking problem that we had further down the line. The service and helpfulness was beyond expectations, and restored our faith in Italian hospitality.

Very clean, modern and a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The garden area is particularly attractive. The only drawback for us was the smallness of the room, but otherwise this hotel is good value.

The family and staff are wonderful. They made us feel very welcome and went to great lengths to help us. The position in Pompeii is convenient to drive to and is only a 10 min walk to the ruins. The self guided tour of the ruins purchased at the hotel was well worth while. The room we had was recently refurbed with beautiful fittings. The bathroom and bed room were both of european sizing but very adequate. The special feature of the Hotel is the orange grove courtyard perfect for a book or the afternoon coffee or something stronger from the bar. The restaurant on the corner, a 40 metre walk is also recommended as we returned for our second meal which is unusual for us. All in all we had a great 3 days in Pompeii.

It is a beautiful hotel with beautiful surroundings. The location is great. It is really close to the train station (2 minutes walk with your luggage) and you can reach the Pompei ruines just by walk. I also loved the garden where the restaurant is situated.

Excellent hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is very good, relatively close to the site of Pompei (about 20 mn walk to the Amphitheater gate). Our room was rather spacious with good equipment. We used the dinner service in the garden and it was very pleasant

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The hotel was very friendly and helpful, possibly the friendliest hotel staff I have had in Italy. The location is less than five minutes walk from the train station, which was very helpful due to late arrival. Would recommend this hotel; a great deal for a great price.

The hotel is very well situated if you are arriving by train as it is within easy walking distance of the train station. There is also onsite car parking if you arrive by car. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a little distance from ancient Pompeii but is easily walkable. The closest entrance to the site from the hotel is near the arena. This is a bonus as you have little or no queues to gget in and you get to explore that end of Pompeii almost alone!

If I ever make it back to Pompeii, I want to stay at Hotel Diana again. Hotel Diana is very pleasant and comfortable with a nice courtyard (with orange trees), but what makes this hotel so special is the people at the front desk. They provided a level of service that far exceeded our expectations. For example: From Pompeii we went to Rome where we had rented an apartment. The apt owner didn't speak English; we don't speak Italian. The people at the desk called the owner to let her know when we would arrive. And when we got back very late from our tour, they found the schedule for the trains, sent us on our way, and then called the apt owner again to explain the situation and notify her that we would be later than expected. They always had suggestions and answered all our questions. Even though the hotel was full, they treated everyone like special guests. They provided a PC in the lobby as well as (free) wireless access throughout the hotel. Breakfast included rolls, cereal, cheese, prosciutto, fruit (including oranges from the courtyard), juice, milk, coffee, and tea. The breakfast room is large and airy, a very pleasant setting.

What a great place to stay! The staff is the most competent, friendly, and accommodating of any that we have experienced in many trips to Europe. Excellent English, precise knowledge of train schedules and routes; arranged excellent drivers for local excursions. Detailed instructions on how to get there on the correct train. Recommended excellent restaurants. Very nice breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

Welcoming. Rooms are clean and small by North American standards but average for european facilities. Located very close to the FFSS railway station and only a short walk to the ruins of Pompei. Excellent! The church located close by is worth a visit. The restaurant around the corner from the hotel is very good.

Beautiful and stylish hotel, but its best thing is the staff. Soon after we made reservation they sent us a welcoming email full of information regarding how to reach the hotel, and what to do at Pompeii. They kindly informed and reserved a spot to see newly excavated sites in Pompeii ruins, which enriched our visit. They speak fluent English and answer every question so clearly and kindly we had nothing to worry about. Great hotel. Would like to return.

This hotel was fantastic. The staff was superb. The grounds were beautiful. Very nice eating/sitting area outside. Great rooftop patio. Buffet breakfast was better than average. This hotel should be rated a 4 star, not a 3. The cafe/cappuccino machine was a wonderful amenity. You cold have cafe/cappuccino anytime of the day until 10 pm at night. The staff went out of their way to help with any and all requests. They provide free internet service-the rooms were clean, neat, and updated. It was the best hotel we stayed at between Rome, Florence, & Pompei. Great stay!

The staff at Diana Pompei are tremendously helpful - speak excellent English, know a great deal about the fantastically interesting and beautiful things to see in this region, options for getting there, reliable drivers, train timetables etc. They expressed great disappointment that I hadn't emailed in advance that I have Coeliac as that meant they couldnt get special food in for me until my 2nd morning. A great place to use as a base for visiting this fascinating part of Italy and I wish I had stayed longer than 4 days as the information provided by the hotel showed me there was so much more to see than I had expected.

This is a very nice, friendly hotel at a great price. It is very conveniently located and is, in fact, walking distance to both the ruins of Pompeii, as well as excellent restaurants and the central square of the city. The room, though small, was spotless and tasteful. The bathroom was large (we stayed in a Superior Double room) and had a huge shower, the biggest we had in Italy. We had nice little outdoor sitting area as well. The room as very quiet and situated in a small side street off the bigger, busy street, greatly minimizing the noise. There was a parking area for our car. The hotel also has free computers for use in their lobby. Nice breakfast in the morning as well. Excellent directions provided by the hotel - we never got lost. I can highly recommend this hotel, and found Pompeii a much more pleasant city than expected. Also, we had an excellent private tour of the Pompeii ruins with Context Travel. It was worth every penny!

Beautiful patios and common space outside- great train station and ruins location- very walkable. Free off street parking a big plus! Loved the breakfast- only downside is a lot of tiling in the rooms- didn't feel super cozy but was very clean and amazingly hospitable and helpful staff! There is a lift- but the stairs were the more convenient option. 3 days/Room 208- quiet at the end of the hall- small shower by USA expectations

I spent two nights at the Diana; it is thankfully in close proximity to the main Pompei train station. It is also conveniently close to the Pompeii site but thankfully removed from the main street and piazza. this made it easy to be a tourist on foot without being disturbed by noise and crowds when relaxing at the hotel. Service is warm and friendly; the hotel facilities are good, especially the breakfast room. One last thing, the hotel decor is reflective of the style and colours that have been discovered at the ruins; a nice touch I thought.

Hotel Diana staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful with suggestions and directions, including obtaining permission to enter some of the houses in the ruins usually closed to the public. The hotel's location is central for the ruins and for Naples - train station and Circumvesuviana. The only drawback during the period of my stay was occasional noise from renovations to the building. Otherwise it was a pleasant experience and I will definitely stay at Diana again.

We stayed for 2 nights and our stay was very good. Hotel in great location for the ruins which are only 5 mins walk away. Make sure that you take the Trenitalia train from Naples and not the circum. line as there are 3 stations in Pompei and trenitalia arrives at the Pompei station across the road. Pompei Scavia is about 20 mins walk away and Pompei Villa de Misteri is about 10 mins walk away. One small improvement - would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Great location just a minute's walk from the regional train station and a 10 minute stroll to the archaeological site. Room was extremely clean. Bathroom very large. Breakfast was adequate, though we were not aware that there was a charge for each cappuchino after the first one! Therefore were surprised when we saw those tacked onto the bill.We were not happy with the so called "Patio" that was accessible from our room.(We were on the ground floor.)It would have been nice if it had been enclosed with latice work or something to keep it private from the street. However the staff was really sweet and helpful with directions to everything we needed and were always friendly. I loved staying in Pompeii, and Hotel Diana was within walking distance to the ruins, to the train station(5 min away!) and to the whole town in general. We loved the stay.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. From the moment I walked through the door, they made me feel completely at home. Nadia at the front desk did a superb job with suggestions and directions, and seemed genuinely concerned one day when I wasn't feeling well. Sonia, in the evenings, was also extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations. Everyone on the staff seemed very happy with life, which is a tribute to the owners. I encountered Nadia on a train and she said several times, "I love my job!" It showed. The room was sparklingly clean and the breakfasts had fewer selections than some hotels, but the croissants were delicious, the fruit fresh and the cappuccino about the best I've had. It was lovely to have breakfast in the garden. There are good restaurants in the area. In particular, I recommend La Situla around the corner and Il Principe on the square. The location, just across from the train station, is excellent for arrival, departure and day trips to Naples or Paestum. For Herculaneum, the Circumvesuviano is about a 5 minute walk, as the ruins themselves. Overall, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Many thanks to all!

From the moment we walked in we felt like family at the Hotel Diana. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasent. When we were not seeing the sights, we spent our time in the lovely gardens drinking cappuccinos or sipping wine from the well stocked bar. Nadia was very helpful with everything. She helped us with our meager Italian and even spoke with the manager of the Villa we were renting in Praiano to see if we could check in early. We were a party of six women and Nadia knew our names after only two nights. I've stayed at 5 star Hotels that could not hold a candle to Hotel Diana.

Our welcome at the hotel was lovely. The room was clean and modern. The ensuite was adequate, a trifle small for my husband. Every day they helped us with where to go and how to get there as well as suggesting places to eat in the evening. They willingly organised a guide for our visit to the excavations. The receptionists spoke very good English. The continental breakfast was lovely and fresh. The gardens were a delight to sit in. Altogether a lovely hotel.

Hotel staffs are all very cheerfull and helpful. They have responded to all my inquiries. Only one information was not correct. Bus service from Pompei scabi (at exit near Casa del Miseri) is mot exactly near the exit, whih is almost 1km from the exit located the station of circumvesbiana. Thus we had finally take taxi which costed 15 Euro. Other were OK.

Great hotel. Staff was very helpful. Great garden behind the hotel to relax in. Breakfast was awesome. Room was very spacious and clean. Directions on which train to catch from Naples could be improved. Employees at Naples train station were not much help. Tickets and train are down the stairs in the center of the train station.

Upon our arrival we were greeted by a lovely young lady, Sonia who had a wonderful smile. She and her sister Amy picked up all our bags and carried them upstairs saying, "we might be little but we are strong". The owner, Emiddia welcomed us with beautiful roses and a lovely smile. Every morning Louigi greeted us with Cappuccino and tea. The employees of this hotel could not have nicer or friendlier. The outside patio was delightful with the beautiful orange and lemom trees with sago palms. Everything was just perfect and we will definitely stay there again. There is nothing better then a family owned hotel.

Excellent. Very closed to the historical area, with parking, closed also to the town and the railway station. Perfect

Very nice family-hotel with very friendly and helpful employees. Perfect near to train station, orange-trees in the garden, private parking space. Rooms nice colourful and large enough for 4 persons. You can easily walk into Pompei city and to the cavities. Good place to see the Amalfi-coast, the Vesuvius and Naples!!

Perfectly adequate hotel for one or two nights in Pompei, seemed a bit overpriced for what it was. Helpful, English speaking staff. Fairly quiet, but dull location. Pompei itself is not worth staying in except for the ruins. Very handy for the main-line railway station. 15 mins from the entrance to the ruins, 10 mins from the Circumvesuviana station.

The Hotel Diana is a great place to stay for anyone wishing to visit the Pompei ruins. It's just a 5 minute easy walk to the center of town and the ruins. The staff was very freindly and they have a lovely area outside with orange and lemon trees to sit and have afternoon tea. We have a 10 and twelve year old and they had fun picking the fruit.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hotel Diana - especially the lovely Sonia on reception. My bag got lost by my airline and Sonia and others went to incredible lengths to try to get it back for me. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The location was great, breakfast was good and the my room was immaculate. Would highly recommend this hotel.

One of my favorite hotel stays in Italy, so close to train station, Pompeii, and good restaurants. The breakfast was excellent, fresh croissants and made to order cappucino and hot chocolate. Have recommended to friends traveling in southern Italy.

A family owned and run establishment---very friendly staff. The rooms were clean and the location excellent, especially since we arrived via train and only walked half a block to the hotel. Staff provided us with the names of excellent restaurants and gladly train and bus instructions. Will stay there again next time I go to Pompei.

Attracted by the high rating on Venere, I am glad to report that it is every bit as good as the reviewers said. The staff are truely magnificent and could teach many hotels a lesson. Friendly, welcoming, conscientious, eager to offer advice, they obviously care passionately about good service, with personal touches like remembering which coffee you liked. They can't do enough for you, and I can't praise them highly enough. Within walking distance of the ruins, railway stations and restaurants. An excellent modestly priced option to see Pompei and avoid the bustle of Naples.
