The views from the "Sea View" rooms are AMAZING. However, the rooms themselves are very small with extremely dated furniture. The employees were kind and helpful.

As this is the only hotel on the island the owners feel they don't need to make any sort of an effort. The bathroom was filthy, toilet water splashed around the bathroom everytime it flushed, shower door didn't close so the bathroom flooded. Ordered food in the filthy bar area and waited an hour and a half before it arrived. Feel sorry for the staff who have to work there because they are all very nice. It is in the most beautiful location and unfortunately people are prepared to put up with these facilities to enjoy the island.

We had a lovely large balcony/terrace overlooking the sea. The bedroom was rather dusty when we arrived, but was cleaned more thoroughly after the first day. Surroundings of the hotel are really beautiful and peaceful - a nature lovers paradise. A car is essential to explore the rest of the island though. The ferry service to Dubrovnik/other islands is very limited - the only direct boat service to Dubrovnik left at 6am from Sobra port (30 km from hotel), with only one choice of return boat in afternoon. It seems easier for daytrippers to travel from mainland to Mljet than vice versa. Overall the hotel is rather expensive for the quality of food/accommodation, but the location is wonderful - would recommend this to anyone seeking a relaxing, 'no frills' peaceful holiday.

Two negetive commenrts. The cost of internet at 1kuna per minute is ridiculous and I paid 128 kuna(€18)and when you see all the customers with laptops getting it free...... The Buffet is good value but would suggest that you reduce choice and improve quality of food

The island of Mljet is sold as being a little bit of paradise that one should hurry up and discover before it's too late. Well it is too late, because the world and his (rather loud, uncouth) wife are there already. The hotel is the only one on the island but it would be better to try and rent one of the many rooms to let, or a BandB that would be far better. The hotel is crowded and above all right opposite the pontoon where every night, especially at weekends, tourist boats moor and out pour hordes of young, noisy, drunken, boorish Australians, British and Americans, whose sole aims are to get drunk and then, presumably, laid. Our room had what must be an idyllic view, but it was ruined by the boats, the smell of the barbecues, and sleep on a Sunday night was impossible before about 4 o'clock in the morning. Eating in the restaurants along the little harbour was very nice, apart from the fact that there again the marvellous view was hidden by the backsides of huge yachts belonging to the ubiquitous and obstreperous nouveaux riches. I like to take a swim before breakfast. At 7,30 in the morning on the little concrete beach in front of the hotel, all the sunbeds were booked, covered with (no doubt) German towels, without any of their owners being there of course. We were so disappointed by the whole experience of Mljet that we decided to cut short our stay there and headed back to the mainland, where we found a delightful hotel in Gradac, along the seafront, run by a very kind, helpful staff. Hotel Odisej best caters for noisy young tourists who haven't come for the nature reserve and who have more money than sense, or overweight Germans who are there for nudist bathing, despite the signs asking people not to indulge in what, in most cases, is anything but aesthetic.

The quality of the rooms varies a lot from the new and old part of the building and from the type of room (standard or superior). The standard room is very small and not particularly well furnished. The prices are pretty high compared to the rest of Croatia, but it is the only hotel on the island, so not much choice... Overall anyway a good experience because the location is perfect for trips to the national park and everything in Pomena is around the hotel (included the money exchange and organization of trips). Breakfast is good

Overall, very good! I went with a friend, and we both took the speedboat from dubrovnik to mljet(polace), then we walked to the hotel which is located in pomena (40 mins).there was a bus service provided by the hotel to pick us up from pomena to hotel, but we chose to walk instead - cheaper (save about GBP5 each). I would definitely stay in this hotel again if i come back to mljet in the future!

The surroundings on Mljet are magical and staying at the Odisej enables you to make the most of them, in a way you can't on a day trip.

Mljet is a lovely island which we explored by bike, car and on foot. The hotel is overpriced, lacking in facilities (other than those privately operated and not included in the price.) The food was fine and the drinks a little overpriced but I guess you have to accept that as its a small island. Woould return to Mljet but will book with one of the many aprtments/rooms available there rather than stay at the hotel again.
