We enjoyed our stay at Riviera Blue very much. It's a bit away from a city centre but an evening walk to the restaurant was a special treat. The location is convenient for both beach/sea and Tuscany sightseeing. Very nice and helpful staff. We felt at home.

Leaving morning before breakfast time, we asked if possible to have coffee before leave at 7:15 AM, the employee seen at evening said OK but the employee in morning did not give us this service: therefore qe paid for a service we did not get!!! At least a small coffee would have been nice but the employee had better to do watching internet or TV?!!

The room is clean and quiet although it is facing the main road of the town. Cars seldom passes by, maybe because it is late Autumn. The people in the town center nearby the hotel are really friendly (the most friendly people among the 4 cities we visited in Italy). The hotel is a little far, next time I won't go without a car. The bathroom is a little bit tight, Asian people have no problem but the western people might have hard time in the bathroom.

While Tirrenia itself is a rather tired seaside resort the one night we spent at Riviera Blu worked out well --- though you need a car to reach it. It is also close to Pisa, so a good and cost-effective base to visit the city. We were particularly impressed by the dinner offered by the hotel -- not common in Italy --- at 18 Euros including wine and a choice of dishes it was a real bargain.

Nice hotel near the across the road from the sea front. Room we had was ok and clean. Had TV but no English channels such as CNN or BBC world. Had air conditioning but in our room seemed inadequate and our room was boiling. Had to have window open for some breeze and got bitten!! Hotel provides three course evening meal for 15 euro which was great value and food was nice. Only draw back only one sitting which was at 8 pm and we only had once as was too late at night for us. Nice bar area and you could sit outside and enjoy some sunshine on the patio area. Staff were nice and helpful.

Wonderful hospitable good people. Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was small but the complementary fresh baked crossants were scrumptious. Definetly the best place I've stayed. Recommended for anyone.

The hotel was in a beautiful location, just across the street from the beach. The area was very quiet, although you would need a car to get places as it's not near a train station. We drove less than a mile into town and found a lot of good shops and restaurants. The owners were very nice and helped us find a hair salon and allowed us to use the internet whenever we wanted. Breakfast was good too. The only negatives were that the room was small and there was no lift. Place was 20 minutes by car from Leaning Tower.

This is a nice, clean (very important to us), moderately priced hotel. Our rooms were good and the location can't be beat. We were there out of beach season, and it was beautiful and quiet. We had a rental car, and parked it right on the street in front without a problem. If you want more details, I have written a blog on this trip at: http://edjoseph.blogspot.com/2007/09/day-7-roma-then-on-to-tirennia-pisa.html. There are no ads, just a recollection of our trip. The staff was very friendly, although a real language problem for us as we speak no Italian. We would stay there again.

The 4000 characters I am allowed are not are enough to discribe my experience at the Riveria Blu. It was perfect in every way. I cannot think of a thing they could improve on. The dinner was 15 euro per person, and a bargain at that. They changed the menu each night. Always a buffet or salad, the first and second plate, wine, water, and dessert. They were the best tasting meals we had our entire trip. I threated the owner that I was going to steal the chef and bring her back to america with me. The breakfast was almost as good as the dinners, offering a wide variety of items. For most visiting the Pisa area it may be a bit out of the way, because it is in a resort town on the coast, but it was just what i wanted.

The hotel was very near everything we did, so that was great. The hotel staff was excelent. We asked for a few extra items when we first arrived there and those items were brought up immediately. The room was cleaned everyday and always well stocked. We wished we had a small refridgerator in the room, but wasn't a big deal. Our room was noisy, but that's because it was on the street side of the hotel. We couldn't hear the other guests and actually thought we were the only ones in the hotel, which was quite the contrary. The room was small, but didn't matter because we were hardly ever there. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who visits the Tuscany area of Italy. The price was perfect for the hotel and we will definitely be booking there again when we go back. It was fantastic.

Good location for a visit to Pisa. Accessible by bus (cpt) that takes around 30min. We were able to use 2 working bikes for free, and this way was easy to discover the surroundings. The beaches are occupied by restaurants in a exaggerated way, so much that I can only imagine it being not pleasant at all during high-season.

This is a very nice, quiet hotel off the beaten path and right across from the ocean. It is about a 20 minute bus ride from Pisa, but easily accessible. Staff spoke good English. Hotel was very clean and decorated beautifully, with many flowers, shrubs, etc on the property. The room had a very nice balcony overlooking the gardens. Staff was extremely polite and informational. The dinner is a GREAT deal. For 15 euro you get a salad bar, pasta dish, meat dish, dessert, water and a carafe of wine. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. Overall I would recommend this facility. It was a very pleasant stay.

The staff, and presumed owners, were very friendly and welcoming. There was excellent walking nearby, either along the lovely sandy beach(a bit built up with summer businesses-but deserted in the off-season period) and lovely pine woods. The only complaint was that breakfast was a bit sparse and unusual for Northern European vivitors: only cornflakes, (and you have to order milk) and and rusk type bread and cake in individual packets. However, the whole experience was good and definitely I would consider going again.

We stayed for two nights at the Riviera Blu at the end of a two week holiday in Italy as it was in a quieter area but near to Pisa and the airport. The hotel was easy to find and the staff very efficient and welcoming and we understood is was run by a family. We were offered an evening meal on Thursday which comprised a self-service contorno, pasta, main course, fruit, wine and water for 15 euro each. We were asked to make our selection before 4 pm which was no problem and advised that dinner was at 8 pm. The meal was basic but very good and we would recommend it for quantity and value. We ordered an additional half litre of wine and were only charged 2 euro! The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and our room, though small, was very comfortable. They also provided free internet access in the lobby which was very useful. The traffic noise at the front of the hotel was aleviated by closing the shutters on to the balcony. The bus stop to Pisa was only 50 metres from the hotel and the service very efficient, taking around 20 minutes. The only down side is that there were no facilities close to the hotel but we walked into the centre of Tirrenia on Friday evening which took around 20-25 minutes where there were some good places to eat (the hotel does not cook on Fridays). We did think we would be able to see the sea but, because most of the coast is owned by hotels, bars and restaurants the sea was behind a deep wooded area opposite the hotel. Breakfast was good with fresh croissants and freshly made cappucino and toast.

this was our first visit to Italy. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and appreciated being transported to the hotel from the airport by the owner. We were unaware that the summer season in the resort was so short and finished 15th September. The only place we found near by to eat was wonderful, two streets away from the hotel, near the campsite. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast was adequate. We were disappointed that we had to pay for a second cup of coffee/tea at breakfast. The hotel needs to have more tourist information on reception. Tirrenia is within walking distance and has several places to eat. The beaches are golden sand. We only managed one day on the beach as the cafes were closing for the end of the season. We used the hotel as a base, travelling to Pizza, Florence and Lucca by public transport. It was cheap and easy to use and a great way to relax and observe the lovely Tuscany landscape. We would definitely go back and have recommended the resort and hotel to friends and family.

Our stay at the Hotel started well, we had asked the Hotel to organise an airport transfer, we were met at arrivals by our driver who took our bags and whisked us to our destination in a luxurious Mercedes saloon,on our arrival Christianos welcomed us and made us feel very welcome, his English is perfect fortunately as our Italian is very poor. The Hotel location was ideal for us we only had to cross the main road and then a short walk to the beach although we didn`t use this facility, also just outside the Hotel on either side of the road are bus stops from where you can travel to Pisa and Livorno both of which have excellent train stations, Livorno also has ferries to various Islands.

The family that runs this hotel are just so nice! Really friendly and helpful. The room was very good and nice and quiet at night. Breakfasts were ample although some fruit would have been a bonus. They do evening meals from Mon-Thurs and at 15euros for buffet starter, primo, secondo & dessert plus wine & water this was very good value indeed! The beach is across the road but a private beach. We were told to move to the public beach by the guy patrolling that patch of beach so we did. It was only after that we found out that you can pay to stay on the beach (we were quoted 6 euros each). Tirrenia & Marina di Pisa are a bit of a walk away, but not too far really. The bus service to Pisa was very good - very regular and takes only about 20 mins to get to beautiful Pisa. As our stayed overlapped a weekend period we were a bit stuck for evening meals during the weekend nights so we tried some of the restaurants/bars on the private beaches and found the staff there a little surprised at receiving tourists but they were so accommodating and just so nice! The owners of the hotel let us borrow some bikes on the last day of our stay (at no charge!)- a great way of getting about this picturesque area. All in all a very nice stay was had at this hotel.

This was our first visit to Italy. We arrived at Pisa airport and hired a car. We found the hotel without any problems. It was as we had hoped, quiet, clean, friendly and with easy parking, as we intended to use it as a base for a week of touring the region of Tuscany. The breakfast is continental, very easy on the tummy, but you can eat as much as you like. They provide evening meals from Monday to Thursday which we had on three occasions. The meal is not "al la carte" but very Italian and we enjoyed it. As described, this is a family run hotel, they speak some English, are very polite, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I would go again. The beaches are terrific.

You have an excellent hotel. Very clean, friendly staff. Thankyou for helping us with our terrible Italian! THe only downside was the breakfast. We stayed at the hotel when the chef was on holiday, so maybe this was an exception. The breakfast staff were excellent, but the food was terrible. We stopped by at Pisa for one day and didn't feel like staying over there (too touristy), so we found this place along the beach, from this very website. The user reviews were very helpful in our decision to stay there, so I figure I will pitch in my two cents. This place is very nice, clean, but the rooms are not for someone who is claustrophobic. We had a double room, and the room is barely bigger than the size of the bed. Besides the size of the room, we have no complaints. The property seems to be renovated recently, and the bathroom fixture is particularly nice. I like the staff there very much. They were all very helpful, above and beyond their duties. The son at the hotel happily helped us with our luggage, and after unlucky enough to get a parking ticket in Lucca the staff there helped us fill out the impossibly complicated form in Italian, and gave us very detailed directions to get it taken care of. The beach is literally across the street from the hotel, and being at low season (we stayed in early October) there was hardly anyone there, so it was particularly nice. We had a great time staying at this hotel, and would love to make it our destination on our next trip!!

The hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and the cleanliness was superb. Staff were pleasant and helpful. However the website information told us that an evening meal could be provided. This was not the case and we were referred to a good restaurant about 1 mile away. However the real problem was that the hotel is situated on a very busy main road and the noise throughout the night was considerable.

Nice little hotel near the beach. Very clean and neat. Breakfast was good and dinner was also available (which is not all that common at the smaller hotels). The front desk assistant was very helpful and spoke very good English. The hotel is located on a busy road, and as Italy had just won the World Cup finals, it was a bit noisy! The welcoming and accommodation at this hotel were just out of the ordinary--the staff went out of its way to make us feel at home and comfortable at Riviera Blu. As we don't speak much English, Italian, or French, the hotel staff had a translator on the telephone who explained the menu of the hotel's restaurant in Bulgarian, so that we could order. In addition, the hotel had prepared a traditional Bulgarian appetizers assortment which they had researched in advance of our arrival. The rooms and the property were excellent. We wish we had stayed there more than just one night. The hotel was fast in responding to our emails prior to our arrival and confirming our reservation. Everything was just perfect! This was a wonderful hotel. Incredibly welcoming and the gentleman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The dinner served downstairs was excellent, €15 for antipasta buffet, 1st course, 2nd course, dessert, wine and bottled water! However, breakfast left something to be desired but you really do not travel to Italy for their breakfast. We had a car so the location was not a problem but if you are not traveling like that it may be a bit inconvient. Seems like a much more lively place and surrounding during the summer months when people flood the beach, we stayed at the end of April and it was very quiet.

Due to flight delay and airport diversion we arrived at Pisa airport [which had shut for maintenance] at 3.00a.m. Taxis had to be called from the city centre. I telephoned the hotel to explain the situation. I could not believe that the night porter rang the owner who immediately got out of his bed and came to collect us. We had arranged for a hire car on arrival at the airport which we had to collect the following morning. The owner of the hotel took us to the airport straight after breakfast. That can only be described as a brilliant service. On the down side the breakfast never appeared to be organised. All the guests were continually asking for food that had run out at the buffet. The staff were very accommodating but lacking in buffet dining room skills. One tip for the hotel. The many hotels we have stayed at in Italy have toasters and all use sliced bread. The bread eaten with main meals just doesn’t work. If breakfast improved we would definitely return.

The location of the hotel in Tirrenia is convenient for driving to local sites and to take the train from Pisa Aeroporte. Our stay was superb due to the graciousness of the owner Massimo and his sons, Cristiano and Lorenzo. Our room and linens were cleaned daily - the breakfast was good and we enjoyed one dinner in the dining room. They make sure your stay is enjoyable and all your questions are taken care of. We would definitely stay there again.

We arrived at Riviera Blu after a very long trip from Atlanta, GA and were running only on excitement. The owner welcomed us, showed us to our room, and gave us all the information we asked for. When he told us that dinner was available in-house, we were delighted. My wife is vegetarian, so he took her to the cook and they worked out a menu for her meal- 30 minutes before serving time! The food was excellent, beautifully presented, plentiful, and attentively served by the owner's son. That meal was one of the best we had in Italy! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom sparkling, and everything worked. We slept through breakfast the following morning, but the cappucinos were heavenly, made with cream. The beach is just across the street, and the bus stop is about 45 seconds away. We highly recommend staying at Riviera Blu.

We had a fantastic stay at Rivera Blu, and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, the only problem is it location, which if you don't have a car, is a fair walk out of town. Also, watch out for the dinner, although the food was excellent, the dining area lacked atmosphere, to the point of being awkward as we all sat in silence eating in the stark white light. But aside from that, a great stay, highly recomended

Very nice hotel, clean and friendly, near to the airport and Pisa, short walk to the beach - ideal location for a short break - a car is necessary to make the most of your time.

A small well run family hotel who will if requested pick you up and take you back to the airport. Rooms cleaned every day. Unable to rate the restaurant because the chef was on holiday during our stay at the hotel. The hotel is about 20 to 25 minute walk from the centre of Terrenia where restaurants can be found. The hotel staff are very helpful and I would have no hessitation in recomending this hotel for short breaks.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a very nice holiday in Pisa; we stayed at the Hotel Riviera Blu (Tirrenia) for 7 nights. We found this hotel to be very good value for money,as well as being spotlessly clean. The owner, Massimo is a very friendly person, and always ready to oblige. Staff also very obliging.Continental breakfast was plentiful and very good. The hotel is very nicely situated between Pisa and Livorno and also across the road from some very nice beaches. A car would be an advantage, but the local bus services are quite good.We most certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone and we shall definetely be staying there again on our next visit to Pisa.

We stayed at this family run hotel at the end of Sept 05, Mon-Fri. The cleanliness was exceptional, and the Breakfast provided was very good, including the service. The room we had was on the front, with a balcony, which was nice, and the rooms all had satalite TV, although we could only understand CNN news (our fault, for not learning the language) Excellent courier service, from and to the airport, as provided, for a fair price. For us, the only drawback was the lack of food being served later in the day, even a snack would have been welcome, because the walk into the centre was a long one, at least a mile, and after sightseeing every day,and walking miles, it would have been nice to relax, back at the hotel, instead of having to trail down the road, or catch a bus. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been grat too. Overall, it was a lovely hotel, with friendly staff and owners, and I would stay there again, but transport is needed. The bus service is good though, a bus every half hour, and while there we went into Pisa everyday, then by train to Lucca, and Florence.

The hotel itself was lovely and the room was great, however, there did not seem to be much information as to what there was in the vicinity i.e restaurants, entertainment etc. and the staff were not forthcoming with this info. When we asked they were very pleasant and helpful although sometimes this took a while as we waited for them to finish their lengthy phone conversations!! I think much of this was due to the fact that we went out of season for that area and things generally were very quiet.

Massimo was great! If you are traveling by car this is a great way to sea the Tuscan coast and Pisa all at the same time. The rooms were a bit small but very clean and comfortable beds. The bathrooms were spotless and the area was very nice and quiet. We only spent one night there and would have liked to stay longer. I would definitely stay there again!

We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel, which is further from Pisa than we thought. The desk clerk was totally indifferent to us, and acted like we were bothering him. There is no elevator, so we had to drag our baggage up several flights of stairs. The room is small, with a little balcony overlooking the street. There was not much room in the parking lot, so we ended up parking on the street. We asked for a wakeup call which never came. Fortunately we woke up on our own, otherwise we'd have missed our plane. The hotel is OK, but don't expect a pleasant or helpful staff. For example, when we asked directions to the Leaning Tower he did not help at all.

A warm welcome from Massimmo who collected us from the airport. Set back from the main road which you have to cross to go to the beach. Very convenient for the beach or the bus service to Pisa. A 10-15 minute walk from the square which has a selection of bars and restaurants. As we only stayed for three nights did not have long to explore. Room we had was on the small side with no balcony but with loads of mossies about that was not a problem. Would recommend for a short stay. If staying longer need a car to get about.

We had a wonderful time in Terrenia, Tuscany. Our hotel was very nice, clean and a hospital and friendly staff. This is a small family hotel, and we felt that we was one of the family. They took care of us in all ways, and we can recommend this nice hotel to all travellers. Once again Riviera Blu, thanks for a very nice stay! Best regards, Henry Wold, Oslo - Norway.

Our stay was excellent! We called the hotel to tell, that we would arrive a day later. Tre employers were very helpful...we didn't have to pay for the first night, and they helped us to contact "venere". The hotel is renewed, new furniture and bathroom. Very clean and nice The place next to a wonderful beach, the busses to Pisa and from here trains to Firenze, Sienna, Lucca, makes a stay here a good choice for a holiday. We will surely come again :-) Ulla Midtgaard, Denmark

Very friendly and concerning staff. Our room was spacious and had a charming balcony catching the sun in the morning. Due to our room being just above the terrasse of the hotel bar our room turned out to be quite noisy some evenings, but normally not after midnight. The hotel is located a bit outside the centre of Tirrenia, where several ok trattorias and restaurants can be found. We found it to be just on the limit of comfortable walking distance (around 2 km), but the hotel very kindly offered us to lend bicycles. In general we had a pleasant stay at the Riviera Blu.

For a family run hotel in a leisure setting the welcome and overall service could have been more friendly, however, predominantly a well run hotel. Breakfast good. Room was a little 'compact', bathroom same. Air con worked well. Difficult to put a finger on service level as there wasn't anything immediate that could be alluded to apart from an air of tension which manifested itself in a mechanistic response to the duties undertaken, perhaps they were just having an off day (or two). Description of beach being 100 metres away is an accurate description. However, it fails to state that the beach is privately run by a separate concern and has to be paid for (11 Euros per day). We paid but very officious 'jobsworths' made us feel uncomfortable challenging us first loudly stating for maximum affect 'you have to go, this is private beach' before scrutinising our receipt in a ridiculous and insulting fashion by passing it round before moving on. This behaviour set the pattern for some kind of game that they enjoyed every so often. Better to walk the .5 of a kilometre to where the beach is free without the annoying interruptions. We would not return to this resort or hotel.

daughter and I visited for relaxing break post as levels, and really enjoyed the stay. Hotel friendly and comfortable, collected personally from airport, food excellent, enjoyed cycling along sea front. most beaches are pay beaches, but there are 2 free ones quite nearby.public transport cheap and right outside hotel, in to Pisa in 20 mins.Would recommend for short break, or longer if you have a car.

Riviera Blu is one of the finest 3 Star Hotels we stayed in during our recent 3 week trip to Italy in May 2005. The Hotel reflects the benefit of a Major Capital Investment in the last year and half . The management ( a father and son team ) were Extremely Helpful in every way. Rooms were very clean and the entire hotel -- sparkled . Free internet access a real Plus. The Breafast was Fantastic ( meats , cheese , fruits, Rolls , coffee etc., etc.) Parking area on the Hotel's property. A TV/Lounge Room and a little Bar - to buy a beer/wine/or drink was a nice extra. They also have a delightful Patio area beside the hotel -- surrounded by a nice lawn. The Value was incredible - with Brkfst included- probably because we were a bit before the Season. Easy Access to Pisa on local roads --- but ensure you have good directions to find the tower - once you enter Pisa the city. Check what the Hotel's affiliation is for Beach Access...Path to the Public Beach about 150 meters from Hotel... A great hotel at a great price.
