We are two older ladies and we found this accomodation to be excellent. The hosts were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast in the courtyard as well as a shady drink after a long day sightseeing. The breakfast was excellent with fresh pastries and meats etc and choice of hot drinks freshly prepared and brought to the table. We found it quite easily and it is only a 5 minute walk from the train/bus station. We recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

A very nice hotel with friendly and competent staff. Close to the train station and airport. Across town from the leaning tower, but Pisa is not that big, so it's a nice walk (approx 25 min). One doesn't hear a lot of the airplanes going over as long as one is OK with sleeping with the A/C on and keeps the windows closed. Sound insulation between rooms though is poor. The noise from upstairs and the reception was the only real downside of our stay.

This hotel is a very welcome surprise. It was so much more charming than we had expected. The ambience is graceful, the service is very kind and proactive, the room was excellent and the breakfast was all we could expect. It is also most wonderfully convenient to the airport and the train station (both an easy walk) and to the city centre. A bit of a hike to the Tower etc, but Pisa is much more than the Tower and the walk is through a fascinating medieval city. Above all this hotel is great value.

The hotel was perfect for our needs. Check out time of 12 is a far better time. Staff all very friendly. Quality of rooms are a very high standard. Surrounding streets very run down with graffiti and dogs mess. Very quiet because it was August when locals go on holiday. Never saw any trouble or felt unsafe. Our 3 boys thoroughly enjoyed it and were made very welcome. Would go back. Very good pizzeria nearby.

Very nice, quaint hotel. Excellent continental breakfast, and the best "american" coffee we had in all of Italy! Very friendly staff, very nice rooms, though not big rooms. Plenty big for 2 people though. Close to the main bus station in town, on a fairly quiet, nice street. Not very close to the Tower of Pisa - about a 30 minute casual walk. Lots of nice smaller sites/things to see on the walk to and from the tower though. Very enjoyable stay.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at Hotel Alessandro Della Spina because the staff was so welcoming and helpful. The hotel is close to the main railway station so it was easy to get to and from the hotel with our luggage. It is also convenient to the airport. We took the bus one way and a cab the other. We were able to walk to the Duomo Piazza easily from the hotel. Breakfast was excellent - a beautiful buffet.

Location: near train station (700m), about 20 minute walk to Leaning Tower—the main street leading to the Tower complex is full of shops, on both sides of the river. Staff: Friendly, helpful, English speaking staff. Rooms: We stayed in 2 different rooms—the double (or triple really) #104 was a decent size, had good, clean bathroom with shower and good water pressure (although like every Italian shower so far, it leaked onto the floor). Minibar fridge, good TV channel selection. We moved to the Junior Suite on the last night (#101) and found that it was much more spacious, had a fireplace (not usable?) but the bathroom had a bathtub with a weird half enclosure door. Water leaked again all over the floor. No window in this bathroom. Overall, I preferred the double room, even though the junior suite was larger. Internet: Paid wireless internet (1 Euro per hour) which did not reach room 101 but was ok for room 104. If you don't have a laptop, there is one available in the lobby for $2.50 per hour. For rooms with no wireless internet, ask the reception for a cable to use cable internet. Breakfast: the typical selection of fresh pastries, juices, meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt and “wrapped things”. Fresh-made coffee americano, cappuccino, espresso. Canned fruit poured into a bowl. A decent breakfast, but not fantastic. Overall, a pleasant stay; I would stay here again and would recommend to others, although free internet service would be a nice extra for guests.

We needed somewhere to stay relatively close to the airport so we chose this location. We walked into town to see the leaning tower ect. This took about 20 min. Parts of the neighborhoor were kind of scary and I was glad my husband was with me. We took a taxi back.

We stayed in a triple room. The extra bed was a cot-type bed so not suitable for a long stay but OK for overnight. The room was spacious and clean and the receptionists efficient and courteous. The location is convenient for both the airport and the train station and the 20-30 min walk into the centre was perfectly doable. Breakfast OK but some orange juice would have been welcome. There's a restaurant just round the corner which the receptionist recommended but a cheaper and faster alternative is the pizza by slice take-away/bar just a bit further on, on the opposite side of the main road.

Good location near the airport (it is only three stops away) and near the railway station. There is good sound insulation. It takes 15 or 20 minutes to get to the cathedral and the tower but the walk is worth it. Polite staff, proper cleanliness and breakfast was OK. I found it very comfortable in many respects, not only the stay but the proximity of transport facilities if you are visiting Pisa on your way to Florence or to any other town in the region.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in April 2010. The hotel and my room were very clean, great shower and bath room. The hotel was beautifully decorated with paintings and tapestries. Hotel was a 10 minute walk from the train station even though I had two suitcases. Breakfast was excellent and included toast, brioche, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, fruit (not fresh-e.g. stewed prunes), three types of fruit juice, coffee, and as many freshle brewed cappacinos as I wanted. All hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The front desk people spoke good english, but the people in the breakfast area and the room cleaners spoke little or no english, but they were still very helpful and friendly. When my daughter's flight to england got canceled she called me from the Pisa airport and the hotel staff let her stay in my room overnight without any extra charge. Great hotel.

the place is clean, easy to find and has a great breakfast. i would totally stay here again, it's close to the station and clean and the price is reasonable and those are the things that matter the most to me. the only thing i would mention was a couple of the employees were less than friendly-i had asked for another cappuccino a few minutes after breakfast and was prepared to pay extra for it and the woman told me no very rudely. whatever, no big deal, but i kinda wanted that coffee!!

A good hotel which our family had been visited in Itlay for three cities. The staff are good in English. They are friendly and helpful. We stayed in a triple room for one night. Breakfast is good. A fine hotel with smart, helpful staff and spotlessly clean with good secure off road parking. It is close to the station though, which means it takes a good 20 minute on foot to trek into town, maybe half an hour to get to the campo dei miracoli. I guess Pisa is expensive for hotels, it still seemed a little pricey despite the good quality and warm welcome. We'd consider staying again, but would seek out something cheaper first.

Indignant and shrill office staff misrepresented WiFi and then attacked customer queries about it. The hotel was excellent. We chose it based on reviews on Venere, particularly for the quietness, and we were not disappointed. The room was spacious, clean and very quiet - so much so that one morning we nearly missed breakfast we slept so well. Air-con in the room worked well, and was definitely required, it was very hot in Italy when we were there. Some of the trattorias in the area are not so good, but the receptionist gave us directions to two excellent restaurants, each within 5 minutes walk - Lo Schiaccinoci and Galileo. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The area itself is not perhaps the most exciting (but maybe that's why it's quieter than some parts of Pisa) but it was safe enough and very handy for the railway station from where we were able to take trains to places like Lucca, Florence and Viarregio for the beach. If we are ever in Pisa again I would definitely choose this hotel.

very spacious, pleasant room with large balcony. clean, well appointed bathroom. overall, a very pleasant stay - we were very pleasantly surprised by the room and the hotel in general. Breakfast, however, is very continental. Also, the hotel is near main city station, therefore, the area may seem a bit shady at night. however, we had no safety/security issues while walking at night. The city center/tower is 20 min by foot.

This is an excellent small hotel very close to the centre of Pisa. Excellent place in all respects. Pisa is not an easy place to drive in, but as long as you follow the signs for the hotel you can find it - it's all one-way! Parking in the hotel grounds was also easy. It is a 5 minute walk to the main shopping street and about a 15/20 minute walk to the Leaning Tower. It is about 5/10 minute walk from the station. It is on the right side of town for the airport. I would definitely use this hotel again for a short break in Pisa. Ideal in every way. English-speaking staff.

We were travelling by train with several medium sized bags and wanted to be close to the station and not too far from the main sites, this worked well,we both enjoy walking and the 20min walk to the tower etc was easy and enjoyable and gave the opportunity to see many interesting buildings and places on the way. This is a very nice small hotel in a nondescript neighborhood several blocks from the train station. My room was 90 euros which I thought was a very good price. The bathroom was large with a nice shower. There was space for shaving gear etc. The bedroom had a TV with BBC World News, no CNN. A good inexpensive restaurant was two blocks away. The Cathedral and leaning tower are a 5 euro cab ride across the river.

We chose the hotel as a base for 3 days to explore Pisa and the surrounding area. On the plus side, the hotel was close to the train station, was clean and relatively comfortable. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the room was super and it was very nice to have a balcony, although not much of a view. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the hotel was perfectly presented and clean. Breakfast had a good variety, although it would of been helpful if the juices had been labeled. The red was the orange juice. The location was within close walking distance of the train or bus station and close to the town centre, ideal for what we wanted. It was a little bit further to walk to the tower, but not an unacceptable walk. If I ever needed an overnight stop in Pisa again, I would choose this hotel.

We only stayed one night- prior to early morning flight. Pisa probably deserves nore than an overnight stay. The historical centre looks more interesting than the main shopping street which was a great disappointment. The hotel kindly recommended and made a booking for a restaurant in the older quarter nearer the river and this was excellent. Having stayed at the Alessandro della Spina last year we were disappointed with the attitude of staff. Arriving slightly early at 1.15 check in 2pm we had to leave the cases in the lobby area and told to come back after 2pm. This was fair enough but could have been said in a better manner. On going out on the next morning after handing in the key were shouted to on leaving the hotel to ask what time we intended leaving the hotel. We had every intention on leaving well before the 12 o'clock deadline and again was a valid question but could have been done in a friendlier manner. Would psooibly look for another hotel next time in Pisa

This hotel was ideal very close to the railway station (no more than 5 minutes walk, turn right outside the station, along two blocks and then up two block, hotel on right hand side near end of second block)and was quite grand inside, beautifully decorated, and with lovely wide corridors. Our room was on the first floor and was large, with air conditioning, and the en-suite bathroom was large and long, and contained toilet, bidet, sink, shower, shaving point and hairdryer. Breakfast was from 7 until 10 and was well stocked and regularly replenished to the end. Staff were polite and friendly and spoke good English. The were more than happy to look after our luggage after we had checked out, until the evening when our train was due to leave for the airport, allowing us to sight-see unencumbered for the rest of the day. I would recommend this hotel without reservation.

We always use this hotel in Pisa, close to the station, 5 minute taxi ride to the airport and 10 minute walk to the centre

This is my 1st visit to Pisa. The hotel was just as described and perfect. The hotel is located 20mins from the leaning tower, but it nice walk passed shops and restaurants. We had a meal in a superb restaurant called Galileo recommended by the hotel. All in all a fab hotel, totally recommended.

The hotel had more character than I thought it would from the picture of the outside. The room was really nice, and staff exceptionally friendly. I would definately go back again, even though it is a bit of a walk into the main bit of Pisa.

We only stayed here for one night but it was a very nice stay, the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was lovely and the staff on the recpetion were very helpfull and nice. My only issue was in the morning when I went to have a shower, the plug was slow in getting rid of the water and I had to quickly finish before the water ran over. Apart from that I would definitly stay at this hotel again.

Handy for the station, but still in a quiet street. About 25 mins walk to Leaning Tower etc through the main shopping streets of Pisa. Staff recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner - great food, but very economical and family friendly.

Except the access to Hotel which was difficult due to the numerous works in the town and to arrival by night, the whole services and faclities where excellent.

A very comfortable hotel. Close to the station and airport. 25 minute walk to the leaning tower or 8 Euros in a taxi. Staff welcoming and attentive. Rooms clean and well appointed. Would definitely stay there again.
